dakmanzero:I really do not see what your points are am afraid. You are moving away from the subject matter, but allow me play along. Yeah movie do have effect on people - it is an entertainment industry and as such, should be expected. However, in what way do movie affects people's perception? My 4 year old nephew knows that The Simpsons carton is just what it is, a cartoon and nothing more. He knows that WWF is scripted and not even real! The ratings system is to make sure that the movies are within the boundry of the target audience. Period. A disney movie with a "U" rating is targeted at families and almost every one, hence nudity, sex and violence will be out of the question. The point is the target audience of a fictional movie have the intelligence to realise it is nothing, but a fictional movie. Anyone who makes their assumption as facts based on a fictional movies then clearly is not part of the majority. dakmanzero:Erm media hype? The fact that people are fascinated about the book? The fact that many people like me checked it out to see what the hype is about? You are taking the debate in a different direction am afraid. A fictional movie is exactly what it is, Fictional! To now try and claim people would probably perceive Lagos that way is just an insult to the intelligence of people in my opinion. |
What an idiot. If there is a place hotter than hell, let him a presidential suite there. ![]() |
iboboyz:No. However, simple common sense will suggest that you do not go about derailing threads with you unnecessary statements. Hence why I pointed it out to you that it was never directed at you. Ask yourself, by jumping into a question that wasn't directed at you, what have you achieved? Jesus wept! The mere fact that you will result to "bring your girlfriend" statements just goes to ask more question about your own sexuality. Again am asking: Are you insecure in your own sexuality? ![]() |
I am not trying to justify what these police officers do. However can we really blame them? How much are they paid? What is the economic situation like? What adequate training and continuous professional development is available to these guys? Is corruption not endemic on every level back home? To blame the police is probably not the way to go. They are merely a product of over 40years of incompetency, mismanagement and wide corruption. Just my two cents. |
iboboyz:You never answered my question, hence am asking you again. Are you insecure in your own sexuality? ![]() No I do not know what he was asking me originally. But to suggest it is about "homo-talk" just goes to show how insecure you are. Finally, it is a conversation between A and B, its totally have nothing to do with you as it wasn't directed at you. ![]() |
Do you believe everything you read and hear ![]() |
iboboyz:Are you so insecure in your own sexuality? I am sure he do not mean it that way. ![]() |
dakmanzero:' Glad you see a few of my points. I will have to disagree that your average westerner knows not to believe everything seen in a "Fictional movie". The emphasis here is the fictional movies. If it was presented as a factual movie now or based on true event - i.e the whole story - then you may have a point I would say. ![]() |
ztyle:I have no idea what that means. ![]() maray:Thanks. I scored an A for my Yoruba exam during my JSCE [I think that is what it was called abi?] time in naija. So glad to see none of those stuff is all gone to waste yet. Strangely enough, I do not know how to read the "actual Yoruba"! You know the one with the "signs and dots" lol. |
Bolarge:Haha I see what you did there. ![]() |
blacksta:June 12 was the tipping point! And nothing ever happened!! In the words of fela "suffering and smiling" is what our people seem to do best. |
Glad to be of service. ![]() |
Fictional novels/stories use real names of places from time to time, but the actual setting is false. "Lagos. Nigeria" used in the movie do not automatically means there should be a true representation in my opinion. Let us take joy in the fact that out of all the other names of countries that could have used, they used us! That is enough for me. I watched it at Odeon, and I immediately whip out my phone and emailed my brother about how pleased I was to see Naija in the movie. Perhaps that is the way to go, Just my two cents. |
Edoji:So is all west african countries with porous borders. ![]() |
Infoseye:So that makes her a hardcore gamer? I doubt people know the meaning of a hard core gamer. What is the max your GF ever spent on a game? How many hours a day does she spent on a console? Your definition will suggest she is just your typical casual gamers with one or two favourite game am afraid. |
Oh dear god. Rule 125 of Forum etiquette. Always know when to back down, when you have been beaten or out-debated. To carry on will make you look like a fool, and undermine your credibility in future discussion. |
busi-bodi:Quit paraphrasing my original points to then use it against me, Kinda weak. Finally, who says anything about murder weapon in the news link? Never mind. |
I need the Yoruba Translation, pls help me ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is a God who never sleep nor slumberOlorun kan wa ti ko kin sun Ori gbogbo wahala mi Ogbo ohun mi ni igba ti mo ba pe [Or Ogbo mi ni igba ti mo 'un pe] There is a God who feel all my painsOlorun kan wa ti 'o mo wahala mi ti osi tumi lara ti o wa omi je mi nu [Or ti o nu omi oju mi nu] when i call him and he hear meO gbo mi ni igba ti mo pe lati nu omi oju mi nu [Or lati nu omi 'je mi nu] osi mu esoro mi lo [Takes away my problems/pains. What is good for the goose is not always good for the gander. Democracy in US is as old as the bible, whereas Nigeria is not even born yet. @Blacksta. |
I will have a go at the translation tommorow. I just got back in and am tired. ![]() |
Why are people up in arms for? The movie is a fiction. It is therefore weird for people to expect a true representation of Nigeria in a fictional movie. ![]() |
I like it here. ![]() On a serious note, the NPF needs over hauling, and no one can really fault them. They are doing the best they can, given the training and man power available to them. PS I don't watch CSI |
lol @Kobojunkie, from what I can read here people appear to be mixing a few things up. Assuming [a big assumption here] the husband is connected, the police still have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he hired those guys. Their first and foremost focus is the actual gang that pulled the trigger. Not the husband, or the driver like some are pointing. |
^^You cannot base your investigation on what was reported in the press. ![]() |
Kobojunkie, You dey on fire from last night and today, ![]() PS I saw the original post, before you edited it! ![]() |
Eziachi:Again I disagree. You start by evaluating the crime scene, circumstances, how it was carried out etc BFORE you start drawing up a list of possible suspects. If you we are to use your logic, then everyone is a suspect. This will delay the time it takes to actually getting the high priority suspects and the trail may run cold. ![]() Eziachi:Just because he is a few miles closer to the scene do not mean he is the main suspect either. Now, if he was 300 miles away at the time of the incident and this was proved and verified. It rules him out as the perpetrator of the crime, hence police focus will be on "who dunnit". It is after then, a link may be established if the husband have anything to do with it. Well, above will be the way to go. That is the way I understand as to how these things work. Yeah with Nigeria, it is a whole different ball game I must admit. |
@OMOIBO Who says they are the deciding factors? You made a statement suggesting a CCTV footage may be useless if the face is not readily present or captured, and then I tried to explain to you as to how other things are used. |
^^ English is not a strong point of certain writers in the Nigerian media. Or, it could have been a ploy to generate interest and newspaper sale. |
The legend is fast becoming a fact, ![]() |
^^ Football game is not based on looks. It is how the game engine works, you know the whole game not feeling mechanised and very predictable. Something some argue is obvious with Fifa. If you pick up Pro evo and use Ronaldo on it, Ronaldo plays just like Ronaldo. And if you use henry, he plays just like the real henry. The thing is with Fifa, the players lack individual characteristics that is ever so present in the pro series, hence why a lot of people are not fussed about the "good looks" on fifa. |
OMO IBO:Such "actions" can be used as primary evidence - London bombing comes to mind. A subject do not necessarily have to look into a camera for it to be used as a form of evidence. Hence, why I mentioned expert witness already. Things like shoe makes, marks, clothes brand and other distinguished marks can be used even if the faces are not readily visible. Hairlines and shapes are just other ways that a suspect "identity" can be established or linked. |
^^^ Arrghhhh your post makes my head hurts. Ever thought of using a paragraph? It will make it easier and clearer for people to read, and hence drive home your points more. Also, why do you keep coming across like you are condescending others? The irony of it all is that, you actually need more "educationing" than those who have posted in here so far. Bestiality cannot result into pregnancy. The sperms and eggs of different species do not mix and as a result cannot lead to pregnancy. You can't keep telling people to "shush" just because they do not share the same view as you. You might as well just not post in here at all if that is your approach. Do not forget this is a public forum, and hardly can you tell people what to do and what not to do. Just my two cents. |
