PoliticsRe: Nothing Must Happen To Jonathan – Dokubo by Elueme: 1:58pm On Aug 11, 2012
Asari had told all the truth... He X-rayed the geneis of the disunity in the former eastern region.. From his story, which I believe the IJAWS betrayed their brothers for selfish earning and the people they made had their ways are now those spitting them.. We have heard, for this plain truth to have come from a pure Ijaw man, I think the ibos have forgiven the ignorance of their Ijaw brothers... Then can we now unit and fight our common enemy.. Just asking?
The Nigerian state was built on deceit, until we unmask the falsehood and chant a new course on the terms of living together, we may only be postponing the dooms day.. God bless Asari

cjfavour: WHAT ARE U GUYS TALKING ABOUT? WHAT HAVE U SEEN HIM DO?GOD!!!! DNT BE DECEIVED BY ALL THESE TALK OF POLICY UPON POLICIES. LONG TERM POLICY MY FOOT. THE SAME POLICY OBJ USED 8 YRS TO ESTABLISH BY DESTROYING TOLL GATES BT TODAY THEY'RE PLANNING TO BRING IT BACK,IS IT PRIVATISATION WHICH OBJ USED TO RAPE THIS COUNTRY,EVERY GOV BRING HIS OWN POLICY SO ANY POLICY DT LAST MORE THAN 2 YRS TO MATURE IS A BAD POLICY. OR HAVE U NT HEARD DT FEW YRS AFTER EXITING FOREIGN DEBT CLUB DT D SAME WOMAN DT FORCED US TO EXIT WILL IN 2013 LEAD US TO D SAME PARIS DEBT CLUB? HAVE U NT HEARD WE'LL BORROW HEAVILY IN 2013?
What are we not saying brother.. Time has come for us to live above partisanship and biase and focus on how we can move Nigeria forward.. I have presented my position with sharp comparison and contrast on the scenario you initially pointed at.. Privatization had worked in many other societies... OBasanjo initiated the process of defining a capitalist form of economy for the country after a protracted years of no definitive economic pattern.. Though couldn't fully establish it neither did he fail.. Taking you back memory lane, I ll remind you that el Rufai was the person who chaired our privatization ventures and if it failed as you said, then elrufai should be held liable.. Talking of debt, though am not an economist but borrowing is part of what makes any economy, find out... And I heard Ngozi Iweala saying somedays back on AIT that the country was going to take proactive measures to guide against frivolous borrowing next year to avoid the mistake of the past and you should know that the individual state borrowing is still part of country's debt indices, I say dis to expunge your mindset that every incurred debt is by fed govt ..I bothered you on the above statement cos your statement tend to blackmail the finance minister of insincerity which ll be very unfair to her.

Abeg Seun, we need a "dead" emoticon!! This El-Rufai's Media Advisor MURDERED Dr Okupe
My brother, if there is any murder here, it could just be your brain for not being able to fathom what Okupe meant... He never asked for a solution from elrufai, he only candidly advised him to stop throwing cautions to the wind in his criticism because ge( elrufai ) was fast losing his self worth before the sane public... He further buttressed that in a sane society, all hands are usually on deck to solve grave national challenge irrespective of politics only for the players to play politics thereafter... A critical example was d 9/11 attack on American soil.. Democrats never played politics with wat happened.. When the British had a homebred insurgency like what we are having now, did they play politics with it.. Nobody is saying that the govt is perfect but blind criticisms without telling the public how you could change the situation if you were in position is just shallow and doesn't carry any ovation to a discerning population.
PoliticsRe: El-rufai Replies Doyin Okupe by Elueme: 8:41am On Aug 11, 2012
Pennywise: This govt is a complete failure. Oshiomhole's govt in Edo state was met with d usual sceptism on assumption of office. But he has allowed his good work to speak for him so much so that anybody criticising Oshomhole now is an enemy of all Edo pple. He didn't need to hire fake intellectuals to launder his image on a faceless forum. Even Obj didn't need to. Neither did Yaradua.

To Jonathan's image handlers on NL. Consider ur responses very well bc u are becoming monotonous and frequently irrelevant in ur responses. In d eyes of d world your principal is

1. Corrupt- irrespective of whether he gives a damn or not. This might be a reason why he has a problem effectively prosecuting corruption. Monumental financial scandals is a dly occurrence in his govt and nothing is being done.
He refuses to let go openly corrupt persons in his cabinet like Diezani and Adoke

2. Inept in d fight against terrorism. Sending a few soldiers with a pick up van to confront suicidal maniacs doesn't constitute a fight against terror. Borders remain porous, BH access funds freely, insufficient security manpower resources etc

3 Goofy president. Yes he is a PHD holder but our expectations of him is no more than a little common sense in his utterances. And u will do well to have his wife under lock and key bc every remark of hers makes pple question the IQ of d first family.

All of a sudden all u paid Jonathan attack dogs make el Nasir -a thieving opportunist look like a folk hero when he is not.

U are here to win friends for ur principal. Stop attacking contributors on Nl. In d past critical threads about Jonathan and his govt will last 1-2 pages but since u came on in d last 2mths these threads are going d distance. And u big pple in Abuja have made small pple like us big shots telling u as it is.
When a government fails completely Nigerians ll know... For now your assertion of a complete failure is not true.. If I may ask failure in what aspect? Thegovt is performing in many other areas except security in the north and do we need to go into that analogy for you to understand what is actually going on? Criticism is welcomed but I plead for it to have tunes of reality and truthful.. Outright force ll not solve the security challenges of that nature maybe that is why the govt had not overtly reacted, which may even worsen the situation. I however, agree that the govt should change strategy but you shouldn't be cowed by these faceless group cos that is their aim and it's strictly political.
You made mention of Oshomohle meeting an Herculean challenge which he was able to resolve and such endeared him to EDOLITES.. Yes, he meant structural decadence but never meant the problem of fanatical insurgency.. Insurgency in anywhere in the world is never won in a Gifffy. You ll be very unfair to the president to compared hesitation athand with the situation of Edo state as it then was. Oshomohle in his first 18 months couldn't do anything in the state , kidnapping and armed robbery attained its peak in the history of Edo state in his first 2 yrs in office and ir is still prevalent( just yesterday nite a senior colleague was kidnapped on his way back from work in Benin city) but in these Edo people didn't call for his resignation or call him names.. All the why he went through persecution and frustration from the then house of assembly, Edo people stood by him and understood that his underperformance is politically motivated.. The contrast is the case with GEJ , against all odds posed by saboteurs he is standing out in many other areas like power, electoral reforms, economic growth( Nigeria among the ten fastest growing economy in the world), several reforms etc.. Unlike oshomohle's Edo , Nigeria is complex and versed with multi ethnic interest and scheming but GEJ has been able to fairly touch every zone. Unlike oshobaba, Jonathan was misunderstood due to spurious propaganda by elrufai and co and had not been given time to deliver.. Unlike Oshomohle who it took 3 yrs plus to get a good framework for Edo state inspire of all the goodwill and support from the masses, GEJ is 15 months in office.
You said Edo people will mk you an enemy if you CRITICISE Oshomohle, pls don't misinform Nigerians . EDOLITES still remain the most politically enlightened people in the country.. Icriticise Oshomohle on the streets of Benin when necessary and people are after your points not to huss at you, superior argument takes the day.. You have lied against these people with high level of political tolerance though they don 't like being cheated..
I am confident, GEJ ll be the best president so far in the history of the country, this is what some elements are seeing so working tirelessly to frustrate him.. If in 15months, our confidence in the electoral system is being restored, power is relatively improved, our airports and aviation system is adjudged to have met international standard on safety, astronomical inprovement in education by esta new fed univ , increasing allocation to the highest so far in history, acceded to ASUU demands, Nigerian universities can now be found among 100 best in the world, etc, in the areas of road/ railway reconstruction/ rehabilitation pls find out.. Etc
The man is doing his best if given the conducive environment, he will do very well.. Some co operation and understanding pls.

Royal Roy: A shallow President with shallow people all around him. You spend energy fighting opposition instead of working on the nation. If El Rufai was wrong in his accusations, then put the records straight and stop asking him for solutions. What are all the ministers and S.As being paid for? They are supposed to be the best. Bloody nonsense government...bloody nonsense supporters!!!!!
To correct your ignorance, the president is to busy to respond to nitwits and attention seekers like elrufai... You ll be correct if the president himself has been involved in banters with any of the said detractors.. So far he's kept calm which takes discipline and self control considering the level of defamation and reticule the likes are directing at his person and office... Okupe is an apparatus of govt and he's obliged to defend the presidency and not necessarily the president and brings the interest of the country at fore.. But if you think you are governed by bloody nonsense government it implies you are a bloody nonsense follower.. What a self convicting scenario. Too bad

Gotta love El-rufai i tell you gringrin

a whole govt can't even handle a "supposed bigot"

1 word-Clueless gringrin

Lmaooo... cheesy
have you bothered to ask yourself what was the motive for being on the side of GEJ then? why didn't the likes of him( elrufai) come all out to support the president when the misunderstanding first started? He ll be acting in self deceit to say he was indispensable in the battle to enthrone GEJ against the ya Adua 's cabal because the case was visible for the baby in the uterus to see . But the northern elites of which he is a part saw the president as someone to weak to contest.. He elrufai thinking he was favoured by OBasanjo had started fantasizing of a possible presidency in the event Jonathan ll not have the will to run but he was disappointed and that explains the hate we are all witnesses to today..
PoliticsRe: El-rufai Replies Doyin Okupe by Elueme: 10:49pm On Aug 10, 2012
From the statement ,it is obvious that el Rufai is having a laugh at the precarious security situation in the north even when the trend is culminating in wanton destruction of the lives and property of the people he( elrufai) claims to love and care about more than the sitting govt... In the face of grave danger and national challenge true patriots stand up in defense of their coutry's interest first before partisanship,. This was Okupe's position and he was very right until elrufai punctures this position and proves otherwise, he remains guilty of finding a cheap popularity in nigeria's misery

wrexs: @Beaf...and why should the citizenry be the one solving the problem for the Government. what is the essence of having a Governement if they cant solve /profer solutions to problems threatening the lives of the people that elected them into power? Being a C-in-C gives such person the power to take decision that protects his people and not begging/intimating oppositions for advise or even pointing fingers at them...if you cant handle it, simply quit.
...and what are you or elrufai are in the polity? Government is a collective responsibility and it is vested on all citizenry to play a role in ensuring good leadership... In a nutshell, elrufai is part of government, even as an opposition leader and a former federal cabinet minister, should profer a solution if he has a strategy or information on how to tackle some of the challenges facing our nationhood instead of endless rantings like a stray dog. It only goes to show how immature a politician he is

For those asking why, may I also ask you why won't you vote him? The only yardstick that would have militated negatively on him is security but we now know why.. My message to his distractors is that they can decimate the north and their kinsmen, this path they are toying will back fire big time.. They should allow the president to focus so Nigerians can judge him fairly... In the meantime I score him high

IslamRe: Science Confirms Fasting is Good for Human Health by Elueme: 1:19pm On Aug 09, 2012
I agree with him, though I haven't read such in the book but I do not need a rocket science to tell me that mild fasting could as well serve for a mild exercise.. Fasting exercises the body cells as exercise does to the organs and systems in the body... However, it should be occasionally and do not over stretch your limit otherwise, negative feedback mechanism could set in which will be detrimental... Why prescription of fasting could only be advised, when absolutely necessary or if you are on a religious exercise.
N.B : Diet restriction is not the same as fasting.

Do you mean brest feeding? I know the week ended yesterday I.e world breast feeding week. It is high time we made regulations on health tighter.. In actual sense te benefit of breastfeeding a baby exclusively for 6 months can't be overemphasized.. The country should have it as a law and create an enabling environment for that especially at work places.. It's still appalling that some establishment do not give cognizance to the 90 days maternal leave as enshrined in labour law.. Wat a pity.. There's no better legacy you can give your child than that for his or her foundation.. It starts with adequate breast feeding which helps in rapid mental develop, the boasting of the immune system against childhood killer diseases as well as encourages mother to child bonding... IF THE BILL IS PROPOSED, I STAND FOR IT AND SHOWS THIS GOVT IS GIVING IN TO DETAILS AND IT IS COMMITTED TO A WHOLISTIC NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT... Pls guys make una no dey hoard una wives breast nau, it is for the children, cos one of the reasons for non- compliance is that the women want to keep the breast turgid for her to be attractive to the husband.. Malawian: That bridge can be designed for zero naira! All they needed to do was invite a rash of reputable construction giants to tender for the bridge. The FG could have even made money instead by collecting tender fees, and open tendering (which must include architectural and structural designs) would have driven the price of the final construction down since they were all competing for the same contract.
Talk is cheap.. Keep talking. If you are truly rational and wish the govt well you would have first complemented the laudable idea, the benefit of the bridge and the strategy govt chose( public private venture, meaning all the monies ain't from the Nigerian govt alone and in your brain you deliberately think a private venture ll allow an inflationary budgeting at her own detriment?)before the criticism... That Onitsha bridge had been with the terrible traffic for ages with no govt showing any readiness to alleviate the problem commuters face as well as the difficult in business considering the nature of that bridge which connects the SW-SS-SE.. We should commend this initiative and don't die a sadist ... GEJ is working and Nigeria fresh air!

Beaf: Okupe blasts El-Rufai, Tunde Bakare over calls for Jonathan resignation
By Victor Iluyemi
August 8, 2012 22:36:51pm GMT

Abuja (WorldStage Newsonline)-- The newly appointed Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, on Wednesday discribed the former FCT Minister, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as a derailed or deranged politician.

He also did not spear the Vice Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 election, Pastor Tunde Bakare who he advised to stop hiding behind the pulpit.

El-Rufai recently called for the resignation of President Goodluck Jonathan if he (the President) could not solve the ongoing security challenges in the country.

But the SSA said no responsible citizen will call on the President to quit in the face of insurgency at a time when all hands should be on deck to defeat the common enemies.

He argued that it is a well known fact that issue of insurgency is a very difficult national problem. “It is not anything peculiar to Nigeria. No responsible citizen of any of those countries affected by insurgency before call on their Presidents to resign,” he said.

He also warned against the manipulation of the present security situation in the country by politicians for selfish purposes.

The SSA also faulted the former Minister's criticism of the president's reliance on citizens for information on terrorist activities.

He said, "El-Rufai is my younger brother. I have so much respect for him. But politics is more or less derailing or deranging him.

"Everybody knows that insurgency is a very difficult national problem. It is not anything peculiar to Nigeria. No responsible citizen of any of those countries affected by insurgency before call on their Presidents to resign.

"When he talks about intelligence, there is no better security in any country than by the people of the country. It is communal security that will help government and security agencies to root out insurgence. If people shielded insurgents, they make the works of security agencies more difficult. "Can President Goodluck Jonathan be in Borno and everywhere at the same time? I believe that people just want to play politics. All what you are hearing is just the manipulation of the present situation to suit their political purposes.

"I am sure that my brother, El-Rufai is hopeful to be a presidential candidate of one of the parties very soon. What I will expect him to do with the level of intellect, intelligence and the resource that has been given to his own personal education is to come out with some reasonable plans, some suggestions, and not just criticising government for criticising sake.

"If El-Rufai was President of Nigeria, what will he do? Why don’t he say that? Or is he keeping that until when he becomes the President by which time the whole country is wiped off? When tragedy befalls a country, responsible men and women of that country forget partisanship and rally round their nation and they try their best to help existing government to tackle that. Once that is over, they go back to politics.

"This is not time for politics. Every man or woman who politicises this issue of Boko haram, people should disregard and discard whatever information they hear from them. They are not serious-minded people."

On pastor Bakare, he said " Pastor Bakare also falls into that category. It is shameful. You cannot convert the pulpit to a podium.

"If you want to be a politician, please come out.”

"Pastor Bakare came into politics a few years ago and he became a vice presidential candidate of a major political party, some of us have been in politics for 30 years and we did not even become a governor and we did not say the country must come down, that is unfair. It is unacceptable."

He also accused Pastor Bakare of insincerity and obviously playing to the gallery, insisting that "Boko Haram is something that evolved suddenly in the early part of the life span of this administration. Internal insurgency is not peculiar to Nigeria, it has happened in Oman, Sri lanka, Vietnam, Great Britain, Philippines, Kenya and Iraq.

"I wish to advice that if Pastor Bakare will be fair, he should come out properly to the political Arena and stop using God's Pulpit to throw stones at Gods elect, as no leader will emerge in any praying nation like Nigeria without the blessing of God", Okupe said

Okupe has said it all.. Elrufai is displaying a political grudge so wouldn't mind if Nigeria is destroyed to spit Nigerians for not empowering him and also to deceived the people that he stood as a better president when we all know his antecedents... This man is a swine desperately after our oil money.
I understand Bakare as a political neophyte who doesn't have the maturity to handle failure.. Well, he has destroyed the little reputation he used to enjoy.. Thanks to Buhari.
Bringing these two characters to the fore, GEJ is still better.. So I wonder why the massive attack on somebody better than you and had defeated you floorlessly in the past.. Or are you telling nigerians that you are more reasonable than our collective reasons for voting GEJ?

I will vote for him.. Because electricity has been the bane of the country.. When we get power right for sure standard of living will improve.. The president needs improve on other things also, well he's doing just that in aviation, petroleum sector , agric and transport, electoral reforms , with a fair sanity in the system.. He has increased funding for education and acceded to ASUU demands so strike will be non lucrative for sometime from now.. New universities are being established and Nigerians are becoming more aware of the corruption which has always prevailed in our system by ground breaking revelations and exposition.. Various probes are ongoing though some may ask how many prosecutions have been made but we should be patient, however he deserved credit because these things were in previous admin, but no body could voice out and the country was being ate dry.. Thanks to FOI bill.. Before 2015 I think the govt must have consolidated in these achievements.. Security is a but, in my wisdom I would have wished the president is more tough on this but following events, I think that was the intention of these evil schemers to set the country up by the overt actions of the president.. The man is being wise and following events he ll succeed on this and time shall vindicate him.. The northern elites can play politics with the death of their kinsmen.. What a shame

homerac7: no i wont. why? it's an understatement and no more news to say that he's a non-performer. on electricity, he met on ground a project that's near maturity in name of NIPP that was initiated by OBJ and funded to tune of $16bn from excess crude account he built. any rightly knowledged person knows that such vast projects take time to come to fruition otherwise i would be asking "GEJ apologists" to tell me where he fetched the power increment and system stability from. if GEJ became president some 2 yrs back and today power is improving, it's enough evidence in itself to show that it's OBJ's investment that's come of age, NOT GEJ's.

how many power plants has GEJ laid its foundation? the Mambilla Dam Project OBJ couldn't start, why hasn't GEJ started it if he's such a hard-working visionary leader? has he expanded the transmission system beyond d scope of NIPP?

bottomline, anybody that knows what's happening in PHCN projects knows that GEJ has done nothing yet. so i wont vote for him. magana ya kare.
Shame on your guts not you.. You are in self delusion and please don't go there. It is more honourable to fail than to cheat. Likewise it is more honourable to admit GEJ strong point like this power issue and sink him in other areas you think he hasn't met expectations.. Candid advise cos many ll not take you serious.. fresh air all the way!

Figures were also bandied-about by Yar'adua, Obasanjo and those before them. I can almost guarantee you that 2015 will come and there will not be any remarkable change in electricity supply. You guys will still be asking for "more time" to "complete work" on this "never-ending project".

#Utterrubbish.
I agree with you. If govt had their ways they would have since done that but this is a democratic institution where you can't act without wide consultations.. Do you privatize without severance packages for the hundreds of thousands who presently work in the employ of PHCN.. Privatizing the company to competent hands ll surely come, every stake holder has concurred to its inevitability but it is also good to sell a good brand.. If our power generation attains a commendable status it will give our brand a status before the investors

Kobojunkie: Actually the figures matter more than your FEELINGS of improvement.

Billions of dollars are being invested into these projects and if there is no way to read the development, we might as well be pouring money down even bigger drains.

Bart would have appeared stupid if he had announced that generation had improved without providing numbers to back up his claim. Notice he did not say "I get 22hours so it has improved"
What point are you making? I can't mk out any sense from your post. When you talk of billions being spent, is it up to half of the ones spent previously with no 5% improvement? When money is spent and you see the results, you complement after all such monies have been spent in the past without any improvement. Now you need 22hrs light? Let's mk do with the ones we have now and hope for improvement mr Oliver twist..at least over 200% improvement in 2 yrs... FRESH AIR.

This is a bravo! I hope for sustainability and further improvement.. This is a product of the new tariff policy which has seen the interest of the IOC agreeing on investing in gas generation which has been a part problem to power generation.. Nigerians need more education on the need for the new tariff because many still feel that it is one of those govt's exploitatiry policies.

GEJ may not have a military blood, agreed and may not be talking tough but he has got wisdom which the likes of Buhari, elrufai and their BH foot soldiers didn't have.. So unfortunate that innocent blood are being spilled on the alter of hidden political agenda by people who have no regard for human life other than their inordinate ambition for oil wealth which their surest bet to get is from political power.. I tell us that the script of these evil men were for the president to act irrationally by calling for a genocide so they could catch in.. But that has failed them, why they are coming out one by one to expose themselves.. They ll confess one after the other by betray of emotions and careless statements... I think the south should hold their peace, don't play into the hands of these evil, cos they will soon turn against themselves.. I read the interview granted Rabiu Kwankwaso of kanu state yesterday and the picture became clearer what these whole thing meant.. We need SNC in Nigeria as fast as possible.
