When I was little, I remember seeing lots of flowers around, each compound has flowers, including mine, Hibiscus flower was everywhere and extremely common....how many flowers are in your environment presently? Hmmm. Nuclear weapons are built for deterrence purpose mainly. If you had to use them, they have failed in their main purpose.
The main reason why you have nuclear weapon is to make everyone else afraid of attacking you knowing fully well you have the capability to devastate their homeland. You can see the high level of reluctance from NATO( which are nuclear powers too) to get directly involved. Ask yourself, if it was Belarus that invaded Ukraine(without Russian support) what do you think NATO will be doing by now? So the nukes are serving their purpose.

Conversely, Russia will never step a foot on an inch of NATO land no matter how mad Putin becomes. He knows NATO will react with everything in their arsenal including nuclear weapons. Yes, Russia can destroy the majority of NATO nations, but thats hard comfort when NATO will also ensure that not a single inch of Russia is not smoldering nuclear waste.

In essence, nobody is going to win.
