Fynestboi:But that doesn't change the fact that your action led to the misinformation. You don't just change information without informing the affected teams. Yeah. As you believe that there should be no breach of communication, we also believe that you should not change information without informing the affected teams. Moreover, your belief is not a good justification for the misinformation. if your belief should be a good justification then you should tag only one person and not all the members to any information because you "believe there shouldn't be a breach of communication among" the team members. You kept mentioning "late" as if the debate had been concluded. Is it not injustice for us to bear the consequence of your misinformation? Even in contract, any contract entered into as a result of misrepresentation (misinformation) is voidable. Doing something now before the debate is done is not too late except you think the fault of the misinformation caused by your action is ours. |
@Fynestboi No, I am only telling the organisers to look into it. I can't deny that you posted a picture online and tagged me to it on January 4 but at that period, my Android had gotten spoilt, I could only access Nairaland with a small phone which does not display pictures very well. When I asked for the date of the debate, you told me "valentine day" without talking about any change and you posted a pic which I couldn't view very well. check pg 37 www.nairaland.com/2446965/nairaland-interschool-debate-chatroom-third/37. On a normal circumstance, notification of change matters and not pics that has no notification of change. Or was the posted pic a "notice of change"? Since I had downloaded a video which has the pair, the duty of each school (which i think should not change without due notification if we are to follow the rule of organisation and utmost faith which this debate stands on) and you had told me the date of the debate then I went ahead with my argument. If I could view the pic well, did you think I wouldn't have challenged you? If actually you deemed it fit to change any information, you should announce to the affected teams that a change has occurred. This will allow us have a good knowledge of what is going on. An incomplete information or a changed information without duly and expressly sensitising the affected teams is also a misinformation bro. If you had told us that there is a change in the information earlier posted then I would have asked for the change and this issue wouldn't have come up. It will be injustice on your part to say that a protest of misinformation caused by your own action is an excuse. If you had communicated that there is a change in the information of the earlier video, then my protest will be an excuse but if there is no communication about the change then it will be injustice and demeaning to call a protest against irregularity a mere "excuse". I don't think it is too late in as much as we haven't concluded the debate. something can be done to it. Please look into it. |
Good morning. I write to bring to your notice an irregularity in this debate competition. On Jan 1, the organisers of this debate competition posted a particular video online to show how the participating schools were paired for the elimination round and how topics were chosen. In this video, OAU and Poly Ibadan were paired to oppose and support topic 20 respectively. This video being the video of the choice of topics and pairs imply that those topics and pairs will be followed without any bias or change. I downloaded this video, watched it and scrutinised it. I wrote my argument in line with what OAU was told to do in that video - to oppose. Yesterday, my teammate came to me for us to scrutinise our works. It was at that period of time that I knew that a picture was posted online which was different from the content of the video posted on the aforementioned date. We were asked to support in that picture. My teammate wrote an argument that supports topic 20 as a result of the picture posted and i wrote an argument against topic 20 as a result of the video posted. Our divergent arguments are caused by the substantial difference in relevant fact of the content of the picture and the video - misinformation - which was unknown to either of us at the point of penning our argument. This is the link to the video. Please look into it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wxruyiYxxc it was posted here: https://www.nairaland.com/2811855/nairaland-interschool-debate-third-edition I will be glad if the organisers and judges look into this case and do something. As for now, I am running helter skelter to get materials to develop my argument and it will not be okay if this case is not looked into as the objective of expanding one's horizon will be defeated, the debate will be between two unequal fellows which was necessitated by a mistake caused by the uploaded material with different content without duly notifying the other parties of any change; it is not good for this debate. I think the organisers and judges should look into this case and do something please. Thanks. cc: Fynestboi Fattbabakay Adeaks Naijadehyia Aminat508 Ishilove Xynerize Darrytoz Sammyscholar OAUtemitayo

First of all, I'm Emaculate99. Nice poem. I think Joseph has already said my mind. But let me ask, are you trying to achieve anyhing with that arrangement? |
Psalm18:Thank you for critiquing the poem. There are different types of meaning- Conceptual meaning, Collocative meaning, Thematic meaning, Reflected meaning, Affective meaning, Social meaning, and Connotative meaning- it is not necessary to interpret a word with its conceptual meaning, you can employ other types of meaning too. Moreover, poets are users of words and tend to use other types of meanings when writing poems. If you are a poet, you should know this. Furthermore, I'm eager to know where the rhymes you said I am interested in are by pointing them to me. With this, I will not make such mistake in future. Thanks for your critique. |
Nubian113:I love your interpretation. I doff my fila for your analysis. I'm looking up to you. |
Alanjeffy:It is about the Nigerian justice system |
LordVince:Yeah, it is. The Lady I was in love with in Merit12's analysis is "the Nigerian justice system"... #kudos to you and Merit12 for the great analyses. |
donifez:seriously, Merit12 did a great job. I doffed my fila when I saw the analysis. |

BACKGROUND: The justice system in the country is malled with a lot of regularities. Corruption has taken over the system and this has led to a lot of miscarriages of justice. Corrupt leaders can easily escape its long hands because of the bias and corruption in the system. |
merit12:No, you can't! Your surveyed heart, Your working hands, Tears in eyes work, Driblets of sweat on face, Your labour reward aims he, Your wages he wailed for. Your head heavier with stress, Whispers sound screeching air, Your right must be yours, The wailer can choose to moan. You can't be cheated! Watered down, his aim, Desiccated, his wish, Your reward thine it will, Trust me and you will see. |
I will kiss you with the kisses of age, Filled with French fantasies; A lamina of Latin language, With a cistern of English love, And the saplings of truth. Let me behold your blindness, And protect your virginity, Your sword sharpen will I, And your laundry man, I will be, With this, your scale will be balanced. Your temple will I clean, The “minister of truth,” my aim, So that the saplings will grow, And the sword of justice be safe. But now, my love is in shackles, My truths are now lies, My holiness is dizziness, My tears are changeless, And my hope is hopeless. My love has become hatred, For my love can now see, Her blindfolding, removed it is, And her sword, slighted, Her robe sowed with blood, And her scale useless! Her temple, a brothel; And a plague for righteousness, The death of the truth saplings: The fortress of the corrupt. ©Emaculate Ife 2016 |

BACKGROUND: Nigerian children nowadays no longer sit to listen to the words of the elders. They prefer to watch Television and follow the white men culture blindly to learning from the elders. They believe the elders are old school and by so doing, the children lose some parts of their culture. It's high time Nigerian children learnt from the elders for their brain is filled of wisdom and experience. It's high time they had more knowledge about their culture. |
Confirm! Why should the guy put that offer up at the first instance? |
I have found my home, The driblet of blood on my face, Now wiped in a jiffy. The struggle of our smart professionals, To sell their trade to the world, Rejected it was without remorse, A driblet of blood for us to wipe. The Hell Gate be closed, The paradise be opened, The passage of moon be taken, With these, wisdom be learned, Rejection: a forgotten thing it will. Down deep in the valley of death, Their hearts now trail, Dead they are but fear no death, The time to live again has come. Who says I shouldn't dress in my way? Imported things; my way not, My heart, alive not dead like yours, My culture will I esteem. Come to my abode, Where passage of moon is, Then you will relearn what you know, With wisdom of the elders as guide, Then your heart will live again. A new home you will find, Your driblet of blood will be wiped, Your rejection will disappear, Just if you can relearn with wisdom, But can you? ©Emaculate Ife 2016 |
