Foreign Affairs / Re: Mugabe Cracks Down On Nigerians by emeke123(m): 3:53pm On Feb 19, 2010
Let’s face it; Nigerians are segregated around Africa but why? Is it because of the bad omen we have when we go to another country or is it because our government has buired our great name in the mud by all these corruption in high places? Let’s face reality, if shoes were flipped will be react the same way?

i still dnt see wat the biggie is

i stay at my friends all the time

afte playin on his playstation till late

*just realised how that sounds and runs away*

hum, that's all I have to say,

Anyways one thing female tend not to understand about guys is that guys are way to visual. We can visualize everything about a situation in less than a min, So looking at it from a guys prospective, when a man's gf tells him she is spending the night at a male friends house. The man ego/pride has already kicked in visualizing how another alpha male might be comming in to steal his gf. This is the way God made us,

My $.02cent.
Romance / Re: Is It Proper For My Girlfriend To Sleep In A Guys House? by emeke123(m): 6:55pm On Feb 10, 2010
My guy, if this is the first time of her doing this tell her not to attempt such brave move again, Also you might want to check and double check if she is really your girlfriend, You just never know.

If this dude is not her "REAL" brother or a cuzin then just tell her you dont feel comfortable on what she is doing. If she tells you she can't stop "sleeping" in the other man's house then my guy you suppose borrow leg and ja from the realtionship. Unless you wun fight for person wey dey sleep around town.

Good luck

Politics / Re: What Is Nigeria's Most Worrisome Problem by emeke123(m): 10:13pm On Jan 22, 2010
Like the bible says "My people perish because they lack knowledge" This is Nigeria's problem, we lack knowledge to improve our economy. The rich steal from the poor and the poor has no knowledge to fight back, We lack the ability to share power among ourselves, once one person has the power he/she keeps is "in the family" DEMOCRAZY na wetin we dey lack that na our problem.

Education is not for the poor.
Communications is not for the poor.
Healthcare is not for the poor.
Infrastructure (power, roads, water, etc) is not for the poor.
Food is not for the poor. . .

. . . etc, etc is not for the poor. So what are the poor left with? The opportunity to die like dogs?

My brother, let us not forget to add Nairaland in the list, Nairaland is not for the poor, Total Foolish in high places.

Being from Nigeria and going back to Nigeria [where you are originally from] is quite different from asking info about a place where u just want to visit and have no ties with. If they didnt let you settle in yankee in the first place wont you survive in naija? Abeg lets here word jare angry

We are not talking about surviving in naija so get the story str8. we dey talk about staying safe in naija when someone who moved out of the country wants to come back to visit. so make you perch for der.

undecided

There's a word for this, if i remember correctly it's spelled p-r-e-t-e-n-t-i-o-u-s.

Be real. If you want to remain a "foreigner", then stay put or become nationalised wherever you are and dont come back to Nigeria.

Actually you are correct I am nationalized in both countries, Lets be real, if any of the people here who leave negative comments was to travel to a place where they might be tagged as visitors; would it not make sense to ask natives from that place what things to watch out for or what things to do or not to do??

Trust me I am not a allan poser nor a novice, if I was come back to naija for holidays how do you expect me to automatically fit in when I dont even know much about the environment?

why do u nigerians at home talk this way! , someone is concern about his/her safety coming home. and all u can tell the person is mean words. why are u guys like this. lets be rational we are all nigerians, about 140million of u live at home compared to few of us in diaspora. when different levels of crimes happen in Nigeria because the place in big with a big population, most of it is not reported, so it doesn't spread. but the nigerian community in any country is very small that almost everyone knows everyone. so if one of us travels and something ill happens, the news spreads here fast. a colleague was just telling me about the great fear he experience when he came to Onitsha, where someone who came from Germany was killed becos robbers thought he was the police when they saw his vehicle with a police man, everyone was killed in the vehicle, how about the Armed robbery operation that happen somewhere around enugu, that the armed robbers had a field day and robbed for 4 hours, and even when ahead and burn police station and release all inmates. i live in Houston, Texas and we here all this things how do u expect us to feel. do u think every one of us here came just to escape the hard ship in Nigeria. when u come overseas and live with your family and settle to the lifestyle here, i bet when u hear what we here about Nigeria u will be concerned. My own younger brother lives in Lagos, he told me they live in fear of armed robbers, that 3 houses have been robbed in their street already.
u folks should be kind with your words, the way it is people here thing alot before coming home to visit. be kind pls

Well spoken bro. Most of the people speaking mean words definately do not understand how it is almost being a foreigner to your own country. So when we come back home it is very hard to just "fit" in because we are simply "visitors" not locals.

@Poster,

You are so funny, how can you stay safe in America, i guess you dont go around waving a gun in peoples faces in the states since you and i know what will happen. To stay safe in Nigeria you need to use your common sense as you would in any part of the world, the fact that you have quoted a $450 watch and mobile phone gives me the impression you actually want to be noticed, but you will be dissappointed as your prized assets dont really rank amongst the expensive stuff .

I came back from naija two weeks ago and i was there during the sallah break , you can never dress better than a naija babe/guy because efiziness belongs to lagos, maybe if you dress like you want to be noticed with all the bling bling face cap and really looking out of place with the annoying accent, then maybe to teach you a lesson they will collect everything you have on and leave you with your boxers shorts.

You never know your prized phone might be tagged "pure water"

i travellled by air to Abuja and back and the flight was fine.

There is nothing you take to naija that will blow there minds

It is sad that you think naija is so poor that they will rub you of your $450 watch or phone.

Almost everyone i met had a blackberry and they even showed me some features on mine that i didnt know existed.

Just keep your cool, dont start quoting the law to police at checkpoints and you will be fine

I think you hit the nail on the head. this post should cover it all.

This is a good topic. I have been in the yankee for over 10years and have not been back since. I eventually plan on comming back some time in the near future. I heard Naija don change ever since I comot but how do a person like me get to fit in once more. My accent has changed, looks, behavior, etc.

I love naija but my fear is not being attacked by robbers but trying to fit in. Please keep the advice comming.
