I did research Denver, Colorado. Planned going there b4 I changed my mind to elpaso. Accomodation was quite expensive than elpaso.
There are still cheap hospitals there.

I got all d info I required to apply for my very first us visa from dis thread and went for my first missionary journey successfully and now just renewed my visa via drop box successfully. I know it will all end in praise. Will be back here to share poe stories. Unfortunately no much info about birthing in Denver, Colorado has been discussed on the thread so I am on d search for one. I just called them and they said they can get me a vbac dr. that is affiliated to del so but this is after I come in and have paid. So I think I will leave everything pending till I enter elpaso. If I get a dr that will deliver me at del so. I will go for it, if not I will deliver at UMC. I will just make a booking with intown suites for one week and subsequently make the rest while I stay.

@ lollarojo, my flight's proposed time to get to elpaso is 18:51 almost 7pm. So we can't get a room even after booking online. Wahala dey ooo. Wetin I wan come do. Let me call them and if dis is correct then we have to get a room for one night in a hotel then check into intown suites the nxt day. I no fit sleep 4 airport with my children nah.

i really don't know about any accomodation closer to UMC but i am pretty sure you can scout for on arrival. you can pay intown suites weekly so you really would not lose any money while you search for a more convenient apartment downtown. i thought you mentioned earlier that your doctor is affiliated to del sol and not umc or did i read incorrectly?

I guess you have a stop over in Frankfurt before proceeding to Houston.
You need the wheel chair for that transit cos the distance to your departure terminal is too long and you have kids too.
You can request for wheel chair at Naija airport while checking in.

i sent u a mail but didnt get a response maybe we wd ve discussed better as i have used elpaso before for my first and will be going in 2weeks again for the next..anyway if ure using intown suite u have to make sure u get there before 7pm as to check in else u might get stranded till the next day, someone mentioned staying over at d airport till the next morning because if same issue and u sure dont want to go thru that..i got ba ticket to elpaso via dallas..also letter of intent will ve replied within 48hrs from experience..UMC is kinda far from intown suites u will be spending alot on cab and mayb u try getting a place near der or change hospitals to delsol its just few mins from intown and the clinic..in elpaso i got tmobile for local calls and downloaded rebtel app for international calls and it was very affordable and easy to access...i dont see why you cant book wheelchair, if it will help its best u ignore that speculation and save urself d stress..goodluck

Hello, thanks alot for your detailed answers. I appreciate. I am using UMC instead of Del so because of my limited options. UMC is VBAC friendly. Del So isn't or does anyone know any doctor that performs VBAC at Del so. That is vaginal birth after a C-section.
Do you know any cheap accomodation like intown suites but closer to UMC? Have not been able to see much online.
Stanbic told me they don't give PTA except in their head office in Lagos.

Hi. I suppose PTA is still being sold by stanbic so you need to apply and then wait 2 weeks. However also try other banks, you just might get lucky.
1) i suppose it should take about 48hrs? i really do not know. However there is no harm in sending it in now.
2) No u do not pay. just reserve online and pay on arrival
3) Simple mobile or Ulta mobile last i know of
4)hmmm, why UMC and not Del Sol? entirely your choice though. umc is a teaching hospital and del sol is private. So, larger delivery suites at del sol than at umc. Also, umc is quite a distance from intown suites where you intend to stay.
A lady who was registered with umc went into labour when i was there and couldn't make it to umc and had to go to del sol. ended up paying del sol more since she didn't register prior to delivery and so was not entitled to the discount. Umc refunded some of her money, about 50% but in the long run she spent a lot more.
Your letter from your doctor and any hospital letter you have should suffice as well as funds for poe
5)3hr 45mins is more than enough time for transit. If you go to secondary inspection and get delayed, then politely inform the cbp officer (s) who would notify the airline and put you on the next connecting flight. I am sure the houston-el paso leg would be operated by a US airline. check your flight ticket to confirm.
6) In my honest opinion, you do not need a wheel chair. Unless you want one. you can book at check-in or add as a special service online
7) i do not know of any airline that would not eventually issue you an infant ticket. some take longer and process may be grueling but your baby would fly in the end. just make sure to do it on time, call repeatedly until a knowledgeable person responds or ask someone to pay for it from Nigeria at the LH ticketing office.

I got our tickets yesterday for me, mum and my twin girls. Lufthansa from abuja to elpaso 1,167,224 for all of us. 2 adults and 2 children
I pray God perfects the rest of my plan especially dis whole dollar craziness.
Please, to ask some questions.
1) How long does it take to get reply from embassy when u send notification of intent cos I intend sending it a bit closer to my travel time.
2) El paso mama's do u pay to make a reservation with in town suites.
3) What is the best network to use in el paso. International calls to nigeria friendly network.
4) Del so hospital told me they don't send prices via email. It was only coveyed vocally though I will be using UMC. I have doctor's letter. Is it very necessary to have email from hospital as well. I have email from UMC but the doctor that sent me correspondence is affiliated to del so hospital.
5) My flight goes via houston. Am scared shaa but God dey. I have 3 hrs 45 mins lay over only b4 proceeding to el paso. Hope I won't miss the flight since am with kids and I dnt know if lufthansa puts u on another flight if u miss ur flight cos of immigration.
6) I couldn't book for wheel chair cos they guy said it could trigger suspicions like if I was really fit blah blah blah...
7) Hope its no much stress with Lufthanss to add infant and hope its not too expensive either.

@ Apple 19, am not so sure of other lines but I dnt recommend T-mobile. I used it during my holidays but it was nothing to write home about. Very pricey. Ended up spending more and I never got the refund I was supposed to get from them till I left. Thats my personal opinion.

I have an existing visa which I have used to travel with my family for holidays though its expiring this april and am not renewing b4 travelling since I plan using it btw feb to april b4 it expires. The formats am seeing here has no name and passport no so am checking to be sure. Also, if there is no name or passport no, how do they know the applicant?

Also, the conscent letter for the nigerian passport or visa, should I write it on my company's letter headed or husband's letter headed company or just anyhow or is there a format you can print like ds 3053?

As for the man, he is a rich medical doctor over there and has a guest house for us plus he is doing all this things cos he wants his spoilt american only son to marry my last sister. And this christmas he came down with his children, my dad annoyingly did everything for them. They come to eat every meal in my house, gave them a car and security to move about with.
I don't even know if my husband is thinking that the man will now pay our hospital bills if we stay at his house. Well, I still dey on the matter. I don't want me and my husband to rely on anyone. We hv never and will never. Instead of me to travel to somewhere I will owe money I rather have my baby here in naija and continue travelling for holidays with my kids the way I have been doing. I dnt want anything that will spoil my years of travel history. The man says elpaso is a bush but na that bush I wan go deliver my pikin. All the nigerian women going there have not died nah. We really need to make a decision so I can know my stand. Am supposed to leave at least 2nd week of nxt month and to be due in march. No tickets yet, though I still use style dey wait for promo. Me and my twins are getting almost 900k for tickets. Mum can sort herself. Plus this dollars thingy...

O dear, I was in a similar situation last year when my uncle suggested I stay with his family in Milwaukee; accomodation, transport to hospital, feeding et al will be settled. I told him thanks for the idea but I have already made non-refundable payments in Houston (which was not true anyways..lol). The point is this: 3 months is too long for you not have ur sanity or be happy. the greatest joy I had was making all my arrangements. I can't stay with someone I'm not close to for that long. If you go to NC, and bills becomes excessive, what will happen? Give your husband reasons why u two should be on the same page and make your choices. Yes, your dad means well but in this americana baby journey, please go with what has been tested and trusted ! pregnancy is not cast a stone, it may not go absolutely as planned. You need your sanity, space and happiness for 3 months! sometimes you may not feel like talking to anyone, taking your bath, cleaning the house etc which your host might not entertain ! SInce it's your money you are using to pay, the decision power lies in you !

By the time u tell him that the cheapest hospital & doc combo in NC will consume any savings u make 4rm not paying for accom,transport etc plus some extra thousand $$ he'll quickly sell off your dad's idea and buy yours - with this exchange rate wey dey frown face like

For your second question, You could tell them @ the POE that you want to spend time with your family friends in NC first before you go to give birth in elpaso. I know some Mums here have done so b4, although it's more preferable if you go directly to where u stated on ur visa application/interview

Nothing to crack oooo. The hospitals I called today in durham, north carolina were given me an estimate of 20k (+-). The best they can do is 30% discount. Full payment on arrival plus you get to sign an agreement.No direct answers self. I tire no be small....laughs....

Abeg people is there still hope for PTA abi na black market be our only and last hope.

Sorry for all the wahala but I don't think it's advisable to use one dr's correspondence to gain entry and then end up using a different doctor , it may give you issues at the Poe but will surely give you issues for a renewal .

In this economic situation, it's not advisable to try something new oh, better to try the tested and trusted ones because you don't want to get caught up with bills and start owing the US. So if you can't find anyone to guarantee a doctor and hospital, it may be wiser to stick to your initial plan as earlier stated. Budget it well and see whether removing the cost of accomodation, feeding and transportation would make it cheaper to be in NC. Also make up your mind that you're prepared to stay with people because it's not easy for such a long stay.
If you decide to go ahead and get adequate correspondence, you are good to go!

Please, has anyone given birth in durham, North carolina or know much about there ot anywhere in north carolina. I am so angry right now. After, I have concluded plans to go to el paso. I hv gotten my dr's letter and even gotten a vbac friendly hospital. My dad decided to suggest to my husband that we go to north carolina because he has a friend there and accomodation, transportation and feeding will be saved. Now, this depends on how much hospital bill is in North carolina and how friendly they are with vbac cos i would prefer not to have a second CS. I cried all through the night cos I hate when my concluded plans are scattered and I have to start afresh. Now, my husband buys my dad's idea.
I will be making some new calls today to north carolina to know how much it costs but if u hv any idea or any hospital. Pls, dnt hesitate to share.
ALSO, CAN I BUY MY TICKET TO NORTH CAROLINA BUT SHOW THEM MY DR'S CORRESPONDENCE AND HOSPITAL BILLS FOR ELPASO. If yes, would they ask me why I didn't buy my ticket direct to elpaso and what I came to do wherever I landed first.

Q-Tips to identify VBAC friendly docs:
1. they have conducted LOTS of successful VBAC with patient testimonies and reviews.
2. their office practice are usually housed in the same building complex / facility as the hospital.. or at most less than 5 minutes walk/drive from the hospital.
3. the hospital is most likely to be highest level NICU facility.
4. VBAC friendly docs is not a matter of certification, its more of a matter of choice that's all..

reminder: research them well and check out all your options ontime because some of them who are true VBAC docs even go the extra mile of insisting on getting copies of your med report on the previous C-Sessions to enable them make a good decision if / not you are a positive VBAC candidate.

if the doc is so quick to tell you YES to VBAC without proper background checks and med history, bekoo just pick race or ready to be knifed...


best bet if you are a VBAC candidate is to google VBAC FRIENDLY DOCTORS around your area and READ their REVIEWS to decipher amongst them who are trully VBAC experienced obgyn.

make sure durring appointment booking that you notify both the obgyn and hospital so they wont toss a policy in your face when its the 11th hour.

NOTE: ENSURE TOP FIVE UR OBGYN full info as to ur previous CS including the circumstances leading to it as some of them even INSISTS on getting a full med ops report for ur previous birthing b4 they take you on


Plus further be informed that most vbac docs wanna start seeing their patients as early / no later than 28 weeks (it is very difficult getting true v vbac docs who takes late patients... I recall driving around dallas for a whole day checking n being rejected registration with over 10 obgyn practices).

Hospital: methodist medical centre Richardson texas.

Again. ...Google them and all other info. ... the likelihood of getting am unscheduled CS during VBAC is very high so be sure to pick a very experienced obgyn affiliated to a capable hospital. .

Please, everyone, still on the matter. I don tire. To get a VBAC friendly doctor hard pass the US visa itself. My money don finish say I dey load card call US. VBAC means Vaginal birth after a C-Section.
Wonderful Tobermom assisted me with one in NYC but if you happen to proceed to CS for any reason, the money is sth else. I am really playing safe.
Please, can anyone assist me with a hospital and a VBAC friendly doctor. If possible, within a total of 5k USD. It seems there are no much VBAC mums here.
I will really appreciate any assistance I can get as am almost giving up hope.

yes its just hospital quotation pricelist for normal birth and c section also vbac..no doctors cost, i got doc quotation seperately.
