PoliticsRe: Buhari And The Lion Of Bourdillon- By Femi Aribisala by emiye(m): 1:59pm On Mar 17, 2015
WisdomFlakes:
Are you minding them? They only want an opposition party that the PDP can intimidate and bully. Or, to them, GEJ must have his second term first before the country can have a worthy opposition. Who are they deceiving?

We need to move from a one-party state to one where elections can be free, fair and credible enough for Nigerians to freely change their underperforming leaders. It's obvious that APC has its fair share of controversial figures relative to the PDP but fact is a Buhari has contested in the past and men of integrity like him don't stand a chance without the Tinubus of this world backing them in our political space.

We need another party at the helm for a change, even if not a perfect one, to take our democratic process to the next level. If this opposition fails this time around with a contender such as Buhari, then without a doubt PDP will grow too powerful to relinquish power and we will in effect have a bonafide one-party state.
Shameless scumbags.

Where is mimiko, whose mandate was stolen by PDP, and Tinubu was partly one of those who helped him to recover his mandate ?
Where is Peter Obi, whose mandate was stolen by PDP, and swore to his godfather Ojukwu to protect and develop APGA ?
Those lazy and unproductive idiots can not stand in the gap and be trusted to play the much needed opposition a democracy needs.

Nigerians have APC to thank for the 6 weeks war and success against Boko haram, those PDP never gave a damn, until it dawned on them, they were losing to the opposition

Jega said it, that every voter with a valid PVC must be allowed to vote with the consent of party agents while the card reader records only those cards authenticated the fingerprints.
ok, i believe you, but i am still for the card readers in many ways.

!1. It identifies a fake card 2. It strikes fear in to the intending impersonator, as the card reader will also display the pix and the bio data of the owner, a 30 year old looking man holding a card that will display a different face and a 56 year old man knows he must have lots of explanation to do.

No, it is now dependent on the approval of the party agents.
I am not aware of that new directive, what i think will be that of the 15% incident form, the party agents must still approve of it for it to be filled.

For every 1 corrupt APC ledaers, there are at least 3 of its equivalent in PDP........ I challenge anyone to counter this.

Who is deceiving who ? The Aribasala fellow is a loose canon, who spews garbage to be noticed, he is a pseudo intellectual, and i doubt if he should be taken seriously, as worthy of response.

IF Angel Michael comes down from heaven to float a party today in Nigeria, he must be ready to have questionable characters in the party, and if not, he will need to import angels only from heaven. Nigerians with an eye to take an holistic view of the situation sees this, not some narrow minded dunce telling me bullocks.

Once APC wins presidential on March 28, PDP will be lucky if it can retain 13 states after April 11 gubernatorial elections

GBTYO:
APC has no single footing in Rivers with respect to the Presidential race.

The APC in Rivers is another avenue for PDP candidates who couldn't secure nominations to both contest on the platform of the APC and also have Madam Amaechi Du Magga fund their machinery.

At the end of the day, with a Wike win, the APC will be dead, buried and forgotten.

Even if by the slimest impropable chance that the APC wins the gubernatorial you can bet your janjawiid sh1t crusted azzes that dakuku will defect to the PDP.

Why? Because unlike mrs Amaechi, Dakuku never takes a swipe on Jonathan or solicits for a Buhari vote.
Lie lie, I am not in Rivers state, but two times i have seen a live telecast of Dakuku on Channels tv , and in both cases, he campaigned for BUhari, in fact he has a very canny way of doing that " he shouts Dakuku, Dakuku and expects the crowd to shout My governor my governor, and then Buhari, Buhari, while the campaign crowd shouts My president My president" , In another one, he implored igbo voters in rivers who he learnt where planning to vote APC for gubernatorial, and PDP in presidential not to make that mistake, but vote Buhari for president.

No need to visit, the world is a global village, i bet, there is a great chance that i can have access to info about Akwa ibom better than some man living in Akwa ibom.

Development is what to you by the way?.I guess you dont think it starts and ends with Overhead bridges and Shiny Roads.

Ogun state has witnessed a fast growing urban renewal programmes, if any one thinks development is by overhead bridges, Ogun state now has 5-6 of such overhead bridges in a space of 4 years, with the highest number of tertiary institutions in the country, and more are still coming, highest number of industries in the country, and much more are still springing up, you will have to prove to me that the state is not the fastest growing.

Oga, I have to correct soome impression.
What got Osoba kicked out in 2003 was the combined forces of Obj, OGD and of course Ibikunle Amosun. However, politics is not about what happened yesterday but the strategies of today. In 2007, Amosun contested under ANPP against Daniel, he lost woefully and came 3rd behind late Otunba Dipo Dina of the AC. In 2011 Amosun left CPC and fused their structure into ACN, he pledged allegiance to Osoba and all other ACN candidates were asked to step down. He never won any primaries. GO CHECK! He rode on Osoba's magnanimity and was also helped by the split within the PDP. Today, the story has changed. The Osoba machinery of 2011 is no longer with Amosun, now with SDP. PDP is no longer divided but united. The major split was between the Kashamu faction(which produced Olurin in 2011) and Daniel faction that procduced GNI of the PDP are now united. While Kashamu is the Financier, Daniel is the mobilizer. That is to say, PDP is a united force on like 5years ago. As for Bankole, hahahahahaha he is politically irrelevant as long as Ogun politics is concerned.

The good news is that apart from the fact that Amosun is on his way out, both Pdp and SDP are unapologetic pro-Jonathan. I am yet to see the grassroot person that is mobilising for Buhari in Ogun State(apart from your twitter propaganda). As for Lagos, the truth is that APC have never played catch up position as they are now doing. JK will surprise you.

I don't really think we've gotten to that point where internet penetration makes a real dent on the opinion of illiterate and rural dwellers as regards politics and governance. I think the bags of rice and packets of maggi still have greater impact.
Yes, bags of rice and goodies might still have greater impact, but that they are rural dwellers does not means they are daft, they can remember oil subsidy removal, they also have greater access to private radio stations who give fair reportage of state of the nation. Trust me, many are also learning to collect goodies and vote their mind.
PoliticsRe: Why Buhari Wins All The Polls Online(opinion) by emiye(m): 8:52am On Mar 17, 2015
The Op raised some valid points, but he must realise public enlightenment is rising at a very fast rate, due to several factors like more private radio stations established , more people having access to other tv stations apart from NTA via cheap Gotv, startimes satellites, cheaper internet phones, a very fast growing internet penetration& cheaper internet subscription . The consequence of all these means the difference between Online sentiments and offline sentiments is thinning out

PoliticsRe: Beyond Propaganda: President Jonathan Is Favored To Win SW (opinion) by emiye(m): 12:47am On Mar 17, 2015
The real bad news for GEj in the sw is that his supporters are more likely to sit at home on election day than a Buhari supporter.

Random opinion samples gives at least a 3: 1, but i have thinned it down to a 2: 1, that is 2/3 for GMB, and 1/3 for GEJ.

It is roughly 65% for GMB , and 35% for GEj, , GEJ's strength will come from Ekiti ( the least number of PVC holders in sw state) and Ondo state.

PoliticsRe: Angry Women Protest Unclad In Ekiti by emiye(m): 9:15am On Mar 16, 2015
Trouble started last Monday, when a group of angry youths of the community took to the streets to protest against power cut by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company.

They also complained against disruption of banking service from the only bank in the community for over seven months.
A resident, Olaoye Olayinka, said efforts by Oba Adebayo to stop the protest was met with stiff resistance by the angry youths who blocked the two entry points to the town.

For the past seven months, we hardly have light 5 times in a month, and when they bring it, it was only in the mid-night when we would be asleep.
“Why this bad treatment from the electricity firm is so painful is because, of all Ekiti communities, Emure pays the highest bill, you can go find out about this. But still we are not enjoying the benefit, instead we are getting crazy bills for very bad service.
“The electricity firm slams us with N8,000, N6,000, N7,000 bills for each household, and for the artisans who are just welders, each of them get N15,000 a month. It’s ridiculous. And we have warned the boys coming to cut the power supply anytime they feel like,” Olayinka said.

I guess you were not around to hear the coup speech of IBB.

Now, before the coup, my relative, an investigatve jounalist of over 30 years experience then (he is 86 years old now), had wind of the feelings among senior army officers. His overthrow didn't surprise us when it came. grin

Just because Rawlings killed people out of youthful exuberance doesn't mean there was no better way of doing it.
I doubt if you would take it with such levity if your relatives were among those killed.

Talking of greed, was Buhari not greedy to overthrow Shagari?
There is a reason IBB is called maradona, whatever the justification he gave for the coup must be taken with a pinch of salt.
Usually, the good guys who want results rarely last long, as it is a form of class suicide, so his overthrow is not much of a surprise.

Rawlings method as brutal as it was brought about results, in fact he seized power twice from the bad guys. If the law of the land was to kill for drugs, and my family was involved, well i will feel bad , but i will NEVER hold it against the govt.

A man who had all the trappings of a military C-in-C, yet could not carry his military subordinate along, cannot also carry all the various/diverse people and opinions in a multi-party democratic system with a bicameral parliament.
Even OBJ, a wheeler-dealer and a peoples person had difficulties doing so.

What did he achieve, sacking civil servants, clising many branches of Radio Nigeria, persecuting investigating Journalists like my relative, applying for us to join OIC (membership granted in IBB's time), punishing Pa Ajasin despite no case against him, jailing Ekwueme without any proof and housing Shagari his kinsman in in a mansion?
Retro-active death sentence & gross abuse of human rights?

Perhaps you were told about his achievents. I witnessed it.
What are you writing ? Military coup against him was not necessarily because he could not carry the subordinates along, there are several dynamics to it, like greed or thirst for power, revenge mission, e.t.c

Until, we understand the rationale for sacking civil servants, it makes no sense to demonise it. U can not expect not to have a degree of high handedness in a military govt, expecially the one on a purge drive against indiscipline and corruption, Jerry Rawlings a Ghanian former military dictator who took over in 1982 purging system of indiscipline and corruption was the true definition of brutal, as he killed hundreds of corrupt individuals in Ghana, till tomorrow Jerry Rawlings is still one of the most respected leader in Ghana, and he later transformed to a civilian president .

So you think a dictator like Buhari who failed before and his minions kicked him out is the new Messiah?
Are you not tired of recycling same old leaders?
One among those leaders who over 50 years got us into the mess we are in now.

Then after Buhari, is Gowon next, then Abubakar? Or even try to resurrect Murtala Mohammed to rule again?
How did he fail ? He spent 1 yr and 7 months.. though as a military dictator, but he exhibited degree of integrity that lived and speaked for him after his short lived tenure.

I think the real failure is the one on the seat at the moment. It is stupidity to reward failure.

At the right time , we will get it right, many of you paint GEJ as if he is 40 years , for goodness sake he is almost 60 years .

If the only achievement will be to prove that Nigerians can sanction a failed president with their votes, i will be satisfied

I know many Nigerians are poor in Maths.

A country that depends 70% on oil revenue. A country with over 70% of budget as recurrent expenditure has little left for capital ones, even if corruption wasn't endemic, we still won't be a developed country in the next 20 years.

Good that you acknowledge our huge population. A nation of over 170 million with less than 5 trillion Naira budget is not a lot.
Huge population means a huge burden on infrastructure in every sector.

While you're romancing with utopia that is unachievable given our expensive bicameral parliament and executive, I'm talking reality having listened to politicians promising heaven & earth since 1979 campaign. And witnessed rigging then too. And all delivered way below GEJ has done.
Mind you, I like others, was dancing when Buhari took over. I met Buhari briefly as HoS in a university campus visit and I liked everything he said. But later his actions were different to what he had said earlier.

We need to restructure the polity, devolve more power to states and push capital expenditure up to at least half of budget.

Until then those promising N5,000 to 25 million Nigerians (equal to Edo State budget) and all kind of fantasy stuff only want power, they can't do nothing as oil prices will remain low for a long time.
The current govt can not be trusted to make right changes.

The 2015 budget is a porposal of 91% recurrent expenditure and 9% capital expenditure, over the years capital expenditure budget impementation has been less than 50%.

You can not trust the current govt to restructure the polity, it failed to restructure it in 5 years
