Is it possible to seek asylum over there.

If yes, what is the procedure to seek and what could be a good claim that can guarantee acceptance to the asylum

Hummm, I will advise you to dead the idea o. Asylum is on another level. How will u enter with visit visa after you claim good job, family, investment etc and expect your asylum claim to be accepted? Read stories of those asylum case was rejected after years of hard work, it’s not a good story.

Please think of a better route. That’s my advice.

Job offer with employer ready to sponsor you. With that you can convert your visit visa to close work permit.

Pls I will appreciate help on this issue.

After waiting for long since I did my application last year July, I decided to renew my passport so as not to have delay when im asked to send in my passport whenever.

However I did a name change when renewing cos my passport was the last of all my official documents to not have my current name. I have all the affidavits and all.

So now I've been approved for visa (May 2023, have visa no in my tracker with expiry date), so I'm waiting for PPR. But the issue is that the name (surname and middle name) I applied with is now different from what's on my new passport.

What am I to do?

P.S: noticed comments stating it's not possible to renew passport with more than 6 months validity without declaring it missing or something like that. You can - but with everything in Nigeria it is designed to stress tf out of you. As usual you need to know someone inside that can run it. After all common renewal or first time application get wahala, talk more of the one with change of name plus >6 months validity. Mine was to expire Aug 2024. Renewed April 2023. Yeah, more than 1yr interval.

Nothing to worry about, both Sowp & vv is fine. Since vv is already approved, traveling is secured. Whatever VO decides to do with Sowp application shouldn’t be a problem, either withdraw or approved ntn spoil.

The validity is dependent on your Passport’s expiry date. If your passport expires 10 dec, 2019, they’ll issue visa till 9 dec, 2019.

Yes, it’s tied to the validity of the principal’s visa. With one year work experience in Canada, once can apply for PR. There are cases where the spouse that entered with Sowp was the principal applicant during PR application.

Also after graduating, the spouse on study visa gets post graduate work permit( one or 3 years depending on the course duration), the spouse on Sowp can also apply for extension to remain in Canada. The spouse on PGWP will file PR for both.

The main job is getting to Canada, there are many pathways to convert to PR. I guess that’s why the visa processing is more strict, because they know once you’re in Canada, your pathway to PR & citizenship is in view.

If you first apply for SOWP, and it gets approved, then your TRV aporoval is sure...cos your approved SOWP doc will be one of main supporting doc.

I really don’t understand you at all, SOWP, VISIT and STUDY all fall under TRV (temporary residence visa). If you apply for any of the category, you can travel to Canada. I don’t understand wat you meant by after Sowp is approved then TRV approval is sure. Sowp is supporting documents? Please make research and be sure of what you’re saying o.

Visit visa. I’ve called airline to confirm, they said it’s doesn’t matter, that’s immigration/cbsa job. Early April, I read about someone what traveled with one way ticket on a visitor visa.

I don’t know the person, I couldn’t get direct information. I will chill till Friday/Sat to get update from the guy.

Please this isn’t to start any argument o, just updating as promised.

He said the airline counter whine and collected 15k from her in naija, but it wasn’t an issue when she got to Canada. Her bags were only checked because she declared she carried meat n her luggage was much (10 bags). Thanks 🙏

Loe and attach the new passport data page. I don’t know when they will update just keep sending mails n Webform. You can also try to call for asap response.

A friend received ppr but the unfortunate has happened! His passport got missing when he was going to submit! When he receives the new passport before the 30 days expiry what should he do ? ?

He should try to get a new passport but if 30 days exceed, he should send Webform. Ircc will update new passport and also resend ppr.

When did bvl and ppr drop for your frnd?

If you’ve anyone overseas, try der credit card. Please someone you trust o, so u don’t have issue of charge back.

Good evening everyone, please I have a question. I applied for a visitor permit for my husband to come visit me since last year but when there was no response, I apply for the SOWP this April. My city MP already informed me that the visitor application has been approved since 26th April, that I should wait for passport request( the date they sent the bvl). So I noticed the eligibility for the SOWP started this morning. My question is will they withdraw the visitor visa they already approved if they are to approved the SOWP? Or will they deny the SOWP, since they approved the visitor visa? Thank you so much.

The VO can approve both applications or choose to withdraw the Sowp. You’ve nothing to worry about, you should start planning reunion

Yes I did use the tracker Eligibility has not started, Background verification- in progress. The last update was on April 19, 2023.

As @angie88 stated, its possible work is going on and not reflecting on portal. If you can reach out to MP, they’ll get updated info from ircc.
