Well, I still invest in the stock market regardless of its ups and downs; because I have the needed technical know-how.

Now for those who are eager to start a business or invest in Nigeria, there are a few criteria you must meet; so as to ensure you are well positioned for success.

1. You must be prepared to be on ground in Nigeria

Yes, I have had so many people call me to talk to me about the possibilities of starting a business in Nigeria while running it from overseas. Now the honest truth is that you can successfully operate a business in Nigeria without being physically present; but not in the start-up phase of the business.

You just don’t start a new business, turn it over to someone and travel out of the country; hoping that the person you handed your business over to will do a good job. This is one of the mistakes most Nigerians in Diaspora make.
If you are really serious about establishing a business in Nigeria, then you must be willing to be on ground to run the business for at least one year. Secondly, forget about doing business with your family members or close friends; it usually doesn't end well. Rather, I will advice you seek professional help, incorporate your company and make sure your back is covered legally.

2. You must have knowledge of the business

To succeed as an entrepreneur in Nigeria, you must have skill and competence. Competence is a product of knowledge mixed with experience while skill is something you can develop over time through training. 3. You must have a short or long term plan to employ people

Let me ask you something, do you remember when Jonathan was president and $9.3 million was seized aboard a private plane in South Africa by the South African government? Do you also remember that the office of the NSA was involved in that situation... along with the presidency?
The Jonathan government said the money was for buying arms, arms from the black market,that's why the money was carried in Cash cos the trade wasn't going to be legit,obviously. Transferring or wiring the monies would have left tracks behind which could have come back to hurt them.

What is this one saying? Are you drunk? Weren't you in this country when people were dying anyhow and our once praised military was crumbling and couldn't defeat a rag-tag boko haram? Soldiers were committing mutiny under the immediate past administration, military bases were constantly attacked and some taken over by boko haram, armouries were raided in some cases, government institutions were attacked, former president Jonathan even stopped celebrating independence day at the traditional public eagle square but took it inside the presidential villa cos of the fear of being attacked....to tell you how bad it was. We (Nigerians) and the entire world were wondering how it got so bad that the same Nigeria whose military has quelled insurgents and helped put ends to wars across the world couldn't face a bunch of street rogues till they became a global terror force...all thanks to incompetence,cluelessness and stealing of monies meant for arms by people in the previous government.
A lot of Nigerians lost their lives and the previous government sat down for 5 years and did nothing until 2 weeks to elections so that they could get support but that didn't work. It's only right that questions were/are asked why our military couldn't destroy boko haram in its infancy and that's what's been going on. As you can see, we have found out that certain people stole the monies to the detriment of our soldiers and lives of our citizens. If you like,you can call it 'witch-hunting' or 'chasing shadows', but the truth wouldn't become a lie because you choose to call it a lie...and the investigations won't stop just because you're whining.
