*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* TUESDAY, 12TH AUGUST, 2025 *THEME:* IT IS NOT OVER YET! *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 10: 15-19 _*(NKJV)*_ 10:15. When the Syrians saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they gathered together. 10:16. Then Hadadezer sent and brought out the Syrians who [were] beyond the River, and they came to Helam. And Shobach the commander of Hadadezer's army [went] before them. 10:17. When it was told David, he gathered all Israel, crossed over the Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in battle array against David and fought with him. 10:18. Then the Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed seven hundred charioteers and forty thousand horsemen of the Syrians, and struck Shobach the commander of their army, who died there. 10:19. And when all the kings [who were] servants to Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with Israel and served them. So the Syrians were afraid to help the people of Ammon anymore. *MESSAGE:* Sometimes, we are besieged by problems of life which look like they will swallow us up the next moment. Some persons have succumbed to defeat as a result of this. Some others who were fighting the problems initially and seeming to be making progress have abandoned their resistance too early when the battle is yet to end. In our text today, even when it was obvious that the Syrians were losing the battle, yet Hadarezer sent and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river in a fresh reinforcement against Israel. David, who was not originally in the battle, had to mobilize other Israelites and met the Syrians at Helam. At last, the Syrians were not only defeated, but fled from the army of Israel. Since we know that wherever we find ourselves in life's battles, God's Presence is with us, let us fight to the very end, with the confidence of victory. The devil and his agents do not give up, even in the face of defeat, so we too must not let down our offensive against hell, until our last breath. *PRAYER:* Lord, help me to fight to the very end, in Jesus name, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"Trust in Me, and do not be afraid of what others can do to you."_ *Psalm 56:11* |

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* MONDAY, 11TH AUGUST, 2025 *THEME:* HELPING ONE ANOTHER IN THE JOURNEY OF FAITH *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 10: 6-11 _*(NKJV)*_ 10:6. When the people of Ammon saw that they had made themselves repulsive to David, the people of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth Rehob and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand foot soldiers; and from the king of Maacah one thousand men, and from Ish-Tob twelve thousand men. 10:7. Now when David heard [of it,] he sent Joab and all the army of the mighty men. 10:8. Then the people of Ammon came out and put themselves in battle array at the entrance of the gate. And the Syrians of Zoba, Beth Rehob, Ish-Tob, and Maacah [were] by themselves in the field. 10:9. When Joab saw that the battle line was against him before and behind, he chose some of Israel's best and put [them] in battle array against the Syrians. 10:10. And the rest of the people he put under the command of Abishai his brother, that he might set [them] in battle array against the people of Ammon. 10:11. Then he said, "If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the people of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will come and help you. *MESSAGE:* "No man is an island", so goes a saying. Everyone, at one time or the other, needs help to handle challenges. To get this help, people seek and build partnerships; even agents of darkness do this. In our text today, when the children of Ammon saw defeat staring them in the face, from Israel, they hired the Syrians to help them. Consequently, Joab the commander of Israel's army responded to the threat by dividing the troop into two groups, with Abishai in charge of one. Most importantly, he left them with an instruction, “If the Syrians be too strong for me, then you shall help me; but if the Children of Ammon be too strong for you, then I will come and help you.” God has made us a family of Christians in a world that is opposed to our faith in which they have positioned as Syrians and Ammonites against us, making some of us falter and fall prey to them. God, through the mouth of Joab, is today urging us to wade in and help one another. In Romans 15:1, St. Paul urges that the strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak. As we live our lives today, may God use us as great help to others in this faith journey! *PRAYER:* Grant me strength, oh Lord, to be a source of help to others, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"If you walk in the light, the blood of My Son Jesus will cleanse you from all sin."_ *1 John 1: 7* |

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* THURSDAY, 7TH AUGUST, 2025 *THEME:* DEVOTION TO GOD *TEXT:* 2 SAMEL 8: 9-18 _*(NKJV)*_ 8:9. When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer, 8:10. then Toi sent Joram his son to King David, to greet him and bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him (for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi); and [Joram] brought with him articles of silver, articles of gold, and articles of bronze. 8:11. King David also dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold that he had dedicated from all the nations which he had subdued -- 8:12. from Syria, from Moab, from the people of Ammon, from the Philistines, from Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah. 8:13. And David made [himself] a name when he returned from killing eighteen thousand Syrians in the Valley of Salt. 8:14. He also put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David wherever he went. 8:15. So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered judgment and justice to all his people. 8:16. Joab the son of Zeruiah [was] over the army; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud [was] recorder; 8:17. Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar [were] the priests; Seraiah [was] the scribe; 8:18. Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was over] both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief ministers. *MESSAGE:* What was the secret to David's achievements? Was he successful because of his skill as a general and warrior on the battlefield? Did the loyalty of his leaders or the size of his army make him victorious? The answer to these questions is no. David was addicted to a life of devotion to God. More so, all the precious things David got from the battle were dedicated to God; they were designed for building the temple. Hence, the king's victories over his enemies summed up in this: _“The Lord preserved David whithersoever he went"_ (2 Sam. 8: 14). Beloved, whenever we yield our souls to God, we are invariably contacting his providence, preservation and presence. Therefore, our devotion to God should not be contested by anything, material or immaterial. Nothing should take the place of God in our lives. Let not even the blessings of God turn us away from the Giver. God will always preserve us wherever we may go while we devote and dedicate ourselves to him. *PRAYER:* Lord, I devote myself over and again to You; make me Your own, *Amen.* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"I am good and My mercy is everlasting."_*1 Chronicles 16: 34* |

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* MONDAY, 4TH AUGUST, 2025 *THEME:* SO GRATEFUL, LORD! *TEXT:* 2 SAMUEL 7: 18-29 _*(NKJV)*_ 7:18. Then King David went in and sat before the LORD; and he said: "Who [am] I, O Lord GOD? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far? 7:19. "And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord GOD; and You have also spoken of Your servant's house for a great while to come. [Is] this the manner of man, O Lord GOD? 7:20. "Now what more can David say to You? For You, Lord GOD, know Your servant. 7:21. "For Your word's sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all these great things, to make Your servant know [them.] 7:22. "Therefore You are great, O Lord GOD. For [there is] none like You, nor [is there any] God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 7:23. "And who [is] like Your people, like Israel, the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a name -- and to do for Yourself great and awesome deeds for Your land -- before Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, the nations, and their gods? 7:24. "For You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; and You, LORD, have become their God. 7:25. "Now, O LORD God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish [it] forever and do as You have said. 7:26. "So let Your name be magnified forever, saying, 'The LORD of hosts [is] the God over Israel.' And let the house of Your servant David be established before You. 7:27. "For You, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed [this] to Your servant, saying, 'I will build you a house.' Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You. 7:28. "And now, O Lord GOD, You are God, and Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant. 7:29. "Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You; for You, O Lord GOD, have spoken [it,] and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever." *MESSAGE:* David went to the Lord with his heart full of thanksgiving and praise, and in his praise to the Lord, he asked “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house that you have brought me thus far?" Beloved, when we consider all the Lord has done, we must look at ourselves and just wonder to the Lord about who we are to deserve God's favors. When we consider the offer of eternity to rebellious sinners like us, we must ask: Who are we that the Lord has done this? Humility begins by looking at what the Lord has done. And this was exactly what David did. He looked at the promises of God and exclaimed, "“Who am I, O Lord God!" He realized that his family did not have the power or reputation to have brought him to where he was. Beloved, pause and look at where you were and where you are currently and you will realize that God has brought you this far. That is the goodness of God. Hence, God expects us to humble ourselves in giving him praise, just as King David did. *PRAYER:* Oh Lord, teach me to remember that I am nothing without You, *Amen.* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"The heavens declare My glory and reveal My handiwork."_ *Psalm 19:1* |
