*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* TUESDAY, 18TH FEBRUARY, 2025 *THEME:* JESUS PRAYS FOR ALL BELIEVERS

*TEXT:* JOHN 17: 20-26 _*(NKJV)*_

17:20. " I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;
17:21. "that they all may be one, as You, Father, [are] in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
17:22. "And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
17:23. "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
17:24. "Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
17:25. "O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me.
17:26. "And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare [it,] that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."

*MESSAGE:*

Jesus prayed for his disciples, but He also had the heart and the vision to pray for those who would come to faith by the testimony of the disciples (v. 20). He therefore prayed for us. He knew his intercession for the disciples as well as for us, would prevail. Jesus went to the cross knowing his work would endure. He left his earthly work full of confidence in the work of God through the disciples. The entire tone of his departure prayers was built on the conviction that after the resurrection, the disciples would renew their faith and carry on a new ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Lord expects us to walk in the same grace and power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus prayed that the disciples would rise above their different backgrounds and understand their unity - that they may all be one (v. 21). There would be countless others who would also become disciples, through the rest of history, from different nations, races, cultures, languages, classes, statuses, ages and social levels (Rev. 7: 9). Jesus had prayed, “Father, make them one." We are to be faithful to the truth; and we are not to be of a contentious spirit. Separating ourselves from those who are living members of the one and indivisible body of Christ. Let us cultivate at once the love of the truth and the love of the brethren. Our unity will make the world believe in Jesus. Unity founded in love is life.

*PRAYER:*
Dear Jesus, please make us one, even as You and the Father are one. *Amen!*

*QUOTE FOR THE DAY*
God Says:

_"I will bless you in times of mourning with My comfort."_ *Matthew 5: 4*

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN
DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE
CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)
DATE: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2025
TOPIC: WICKED LEADERSHIP
READ: ISAIAH 10:1-4 (NKJV)

10:1. "Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, [Which] they have prescribed
10:2. To rob the needy of justice, And to take what is right from the poor of My people, That widows may be their prey, And [that] they may rob the fatherless.
10:3. What will you do in the day of punishment, And in the desolation [which] will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your glory?
10:4. Without Me they shall bow down among the prisoners, And they shall fall among the slain." For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand [is] stretched out still.

THE MESSAGE:

The scripture intimated us that there is no power but of God; the powers that be were ordained of God (Romans 13:15). Using our God-given position of authority to do evil to our subjects, especially the less-privileged, is evil (verses 1-2). Today, such a lifestyle is very common among our political, communal and even Church leaders. Some Church leaders sometimes join to administer injustice in order to please or find favour from privileged individuals. However, we should also know that these less-privileged ones have a God who hears them when they call (Deuteronomy 15:9; Proverbs 14:31).

Proverbs 22:9 instructs us to be generous and share our food with the poor. When we do this, we shame the wicked in their acts. Remember that the Lord has placed you in charge of the place you find yourself. So, practise a Christianity that is faultless (James 1:27). Be mindful also of the consequences awaiting those who engage in wicked lifestyles (verses 3-4) as the day of reckoning will definitely come. Brighten the corner where you are!

PRAYER: Faithful God, give us Godly men and women into our positions of authority, Amen!

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN
DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE
CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)
DATE: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2025
TOPIC: JESUS, THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
READ: ISAIAH 9:1-7 (NKJV)

9:1. Nevertheless the gloom [will] not [be] upon her who [is] distressed, As when at first He lightly esteemed The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, And afterward more heavily oppressed [her,] [By] the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, In Galilee of the Gentiles.
9:2. The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.
9:3. You have multiplied the nation [And] increased its joy; They rejoice before You According to the joy of harvest, As [men] rejoice when they divide the spoil.
9:4. For You have broken the yoke of his burden And the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, As in the day of Midian.
9:5. For every warrior's sandal from the noisy battle, And garments rolled in blood, Will be used for burning [and] fuel of fire.
9:6. For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
9:7. Of the increase of [His] government and peace [There will be] no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

THE MESSAGE:

Isaiah prophesied of the birth of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Christ is the Light and will bring to God's people the light of hope, joy and peace. As verse 2 states, the Light has appeared to those in all forms of darkness and shadow of death. Verses 6-7 indicate that this Child is one with authority. The government will be upon His shoulder and He will rule over the nations. His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. He will reign forever and ever. His Kingdom will have no end!

Today, our world is full of darkness, troubles, pain, confusion, wicked influences, etc., but the emergence of Christ, our Saviour, that Great Light, has repealed the increasing works of darkness and their effects. In John 8:12, as the Light of the world, Jesus was manifested to deliver us from this world of darkness and illuminate upon us His peace and joy. Therefore, with this, He has established His reign in our life forever. He is the only hope of the world; anyone who refuses to embrace Him regret. Embrace Him today!

PRAYER: Lord, let Your light drive away every form of darkness in my life and in the world. Amen!
