*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* MONDAY, 20TH JANUARY, 2025 *THEME:* A CALL TO REPENTANCE

*TEXT:* ISAIAH 1: 1-17 _*(NKJV)*_

1:1. The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, [and] Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
1:2. Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the LORD has spoken: "I have nourished and brought up children, And they have rebelled against Me;
1:3. The ox knows its owner And the donkey its master's crib; [But] Israel does not know, My people do not consider."
1:4. Alas, sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the LORD, They have provoked to anger The Holy One of Israel, They have turned away backward.
1:5. Why should you be stricken again? You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, And the whole heart faints.
1:6. From the sole of the foot even to the head, [There is] no soundness in it, [But] wounds and bruises and putrefying sores; They have not been closed or bound up, Or soothed with ointment.
1:7. Your country [is] desolate, Your cities [are] burned with fire; Strangers devour your land in your presence; And [it is] desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
1:8. So the daughter of Zion is left as a booth in a vineyard, As a hut in a garden of cucumbers, As a besieged city.
1:9. Unless the LORD of hosts Had left to us a very small remnant, We would have become like Sodom, We would have been made like Gomorrah.
1:10. Hear the word of the LORD, You rulers of Sodom; Give ear to the law of our God, You people of Gomorrah:
1:11. "To what purpose [is] the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?" Says the LORD. "I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fed cattle. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, Or of lambs or goats.
1:12. "When you come to appear before Me, Who has required this from your hand, To trample My courts?
1:13. Bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies -- I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.
1:14. Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing [them.]
1:15. When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.
1:16. "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil,
1:17. Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.

*MESSAGE:*

The Lord described Judah as a sinful nation, covered in iniquity. He called their sacrifices, offerings, and religious gatherings meaningless because of their sinful lifestyles. God disregarded their offerings and prayers due to their rebellion. Though they were expected to exercise justice for the poor and oppressed, they rather took advantage of them, thereby making the rich richer and the poor poorer. God called them to repent, or they would face physical destruction by enemy invaders.

Today, the Lord calls us to repent and experience restoration. Nigeria is considered one of the most religious countries in the world, but it would seem that God has deemed our religious gatherings meaningless. There is no justice and equity in our land because of corruption. We must acknowledge that we have sinned. In verse 17, the prophets call on Judah to "do well, seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, and plead for the widow." We must acknowledge that turning around in sincere repentance is the only pathway to genuine restoration. How long should the desolation continue? Today, the Lord calls us to repentance;do not harden your heart.

*PRAYER:*
Dear Father; forgive our sins, heal our land, and restore us, _*Amen!*_

*QUOTE FOR THE DAY*
God Says:

_"If you search for Me with all your heart, you will find me."_ *Jeremiah 29: 13*

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* SUNDAY, 19TH JANUARY, 2025 _*{Epiphany 2}*_ *THEME:* BOUGHT WITH A PRICE

*TEXT:* 1 CORINTHIANS 6: 11-20 _*(NKJV)*_

6:11. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
6:12. All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
6:13. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body [is] not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
6:14. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
6:15. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make [them] members of a harlot? Certainly not!
6:16. Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body [with her?] For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh."
6:17. But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit [with Him.]
6:18. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
6:19. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit [who is] in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
6:20. For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

*MESSAGE:*

Christian integrity, self-contro, and virtuous living seem to be the central message of our passage today. Paul exhorts the Corinthian Christians to shun immoral living and submit to God's authority. As Christians, we are different and do not operate on the same level as unbelievers. Our lifestyle must be guided by the Holy Spirit who lives in us and propels us to live godly lives. The Scriptures tell us that God, in Christ, has delivered us from darkness and translated us into His kingdom of light (1 Peter 2: 9). In verse 20 of our text, the price for our salvation is the pure blood of Jesus. He took our place, and though He had no sin, God made him become sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (1 Corinthians 5: 21).

Many things may be lawful for us to do, but they are also self-glorifying rather than God-glorifying. Therefore, Paul advises us to avoid such activities, including sexual promiscuity. Unbelievers can afford to cheat, lower standards, deceive, kill, and compromise, but we cannot because we have already been purchased. We now belong to God, and it is the principles of his kingdom that rule in our lives now. In fact, always remember that you are now a citizen of heaven, sent as an ambassador on a mission on earth.

*PRAYER:*
Lord Jesus, help me to shine forth Your light day by day, _*Amen!*_

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* TUESDAY, 14TH JANUARY, 2025 *THEME:* JESUS PAID THE PRICE FOR OUR SALVATION

*TEXT:* HEBREWS 2: 5-12 _*(NKJV)*_

2:5. For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels.
2:6. But one testified in a certain place, saying: "What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him?
2:7. You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands.
2:8. You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing [that is] not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.
2:9. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
2:10. For it was fitting for Him, for whom [are] all things and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
2:11. For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified [are] all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,
2:12. saying: "I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You."

*MESSAGE:*

The gift of salvation is freely given to all who believe in the name of the Lord Jesus. However, it came at an enormous cost. Jesus, the Son of God, had to become man so that He could suffer, that we might be made the children of God. God sent his Son into the world to be the sacrificial offering and pay the ultimate price for sin. He, who is exalted above all (v., was made a little lower than the angels (v.7), so that all could gain access to Him and have the right to become the children of God and joint-heirs with Christ. Jesus is all-in-all; all things in heaven and on earth have been subjected to Him. He sanctifies us through His precious blood and clothes us in his perfect righteousness.

Beloved, do you know Jesus as your Saviour and Lord? While we were still in our sins, He made the ultimate sacrifice for us to have eternal life. We are saved only through him, so we should cherish the salvation that he has bought for us and share this message with all around us. If you haven't confessed him as Lord of your life, please do so now, and learn to live for Him.

*PRAYER:*
Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me. I acknowledge You as my Saviour this day, *Amen!*

*QUOTE FOR THE DAY*
God Says:

_"I give My Spirit in unlimited measure."_ *John 3: 34*

They always appears as "they can't hurt a fly" but beneath those heart lies WICKEDNESS AND UNFORGIVENESS waiting to be expressed.
