paulbets: This could be a problem. Quickly send email to your school dso to be sure that your sevis is active. If your sevis is not active, they will have to create a new sevis account and generate new ID for you. And probably you will have to pay another sevis fee and possibly get another I-20. Anyhow, contact them sharply. It is a big deal how long does it takes sevis fee to expire, how would you know if it has expired or not |

gentlebullet: Good day OP, let me also make this little contribution........
1. There is no "Best" transport coy on the Lagos - Accra route. ABC, Chisco, Cross Country. Efex, Young Shall Grow, GUO, King Solomon's Chariots, Tudu Bmw, Circle sienna, etc Just pray that anyone you decide to board will be "best" for you that day because situations on the road changes everyday. if u board any of the registered coy, they will take care of passport stamping at the borders( mind u,there is an extra charge if your Passport is virgin). if you have time, you can still get vaccination card at Port health, MMIA the building before the toll gate, its #1000 or you pay the transport coy #500 and Ghc5 when returning.
2. Since you mentioned you will be attending an ICT training, you will probably be traveling with your laptop. pls make sure your system is clean of any fraudulent material, cos Ghana security operatives have started searching devices of young Nigerians right from Aflao, Dabala and Sogakope barriers since naija yahoo boys dey enter anyhow and refuse to use their senses.... many of them dey Nsawam right now.
3. You can search for hotels close to the venue of the said training and make reservations online( if the invitation excludes accommodation).
4. As at this morning the exchange rate in Hilla-codji (benin/togo border) is #1000 = Ghc12.40. its advisable to change money at Hilla-codji cos they often give better price if you know how to negotiate. the more you get closer to Accra, the less you get on your exchange. hold correct cash oooo Ghana is expensive!
Finally, make sure you make Nigeria proud in Accra both in the training and in extra-curriculum activities...Lol there are lots of fun to catch in Accra and pls if you like babes wella, not all the girls on the street of Accra are Ghanaians o naija gals don take over claiming land owners. so look out for the backside and the accent before you fall mugu thanks thanks so much for your time |

francotorti: Dear All, It was a pleasure for me and my spouse visiting the beautiful city of Accra during Easter 2018. Though its my first visit so i decided to go by road to enjoy the leisure of intersecting from border to border and seeing the faces of other African countries before arriving to Accra.
FINDINGS: -Its wise if you are travelling with a particular transport company to also come back with same transport company. Do not travel with Cross-Country while going and decide to come back with ABC....you might be requested to pay additional 1000naira because Cross-Country usually use OWODE border when entering SEME while ABC don't use Owode and their stamp is different when applied to your passport. -Wait till you arrive Ghana before buying a sim card because the one you buy at TOGO border might not be registered.
OBSERVATION: -Do not change money on the way because there has been cases of Magic Money(They will give you an attractive rate and upon arrival to your destination, you might realized that your money is short or missing). Its very famous here in Lagos at Mutalla Mohammed International Airport. -Eat what you are familiar with and drink mostly water or beer you are familiar with because your body system might not accept such meal. -NIGERIA JELLOF RICE IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM GHANA JELLOF. here in 9ja we have the best jellof rice and best African meal. -UBER is your best bet while moving around because its cheaper, safer and very conducive compared to passer-by taxi. -LIGHT IS STEADY IN ACCRA but FUEL is like 500naira/ltr which makes rate of living quite expensive compared to Nigeria. -ACCRA is a beautiful city.
RECOMMENDATION: -For starters, its best if you make available hard currencies like Dollar, Euro or Pound because you might be loosing if you travel with only NAIRA. -You can make hotel bookings online to Niagara Hotel.....its approximately 15,000/night -I will recommend anyone travelling by road to use GUO transport. Those people have class, swag and move faster. -If you cant afford GUO, i will recommend you use ABC transport.
COMMENT: -I had a wonder stay, visited some nice areas like Independence Square, National Museum, Accra market, Shoprite, Beach, Cinema and lots more. -I tried eating KFC and noticed their salad is wack and their rice taste different but their chicken is same recipe.
.......#GodBlessNigeria .......#GodBlessAfricans .......#OneAfrica. do you paid extra fee for your international passport to stamped at the Togo, Benin Republic and Ghana borders |

Triniti: Just board Abc,Chisco,Guo or Young shall grow bus from mile 2, they will handle all that immigration stuff for you, I think the fares will not exceed 20k, the last time I traveled was 15k with passport and 17k for voters/national id. Go with any of these companies for maximum comfort on the road. I use ysg mostly because of their mini luxury bus, I can’t do long journey on a hummer bus. thanks a lot very grateful for this huge info, but was your Int'L passport stamped at the Togo, Benin and Ghana point of entering do you need to pay extra fee for it at the boarder and secondly what that the issue of yellow fever vaccination card. |

So far, we have more people that got visa with single than married. So marriage doesn't serve as ties much again in USA embassy but it used to be. Things changes though. Just be sincere and pray for favour do appreciate your response. Nahum777 what of the sudden change in travel history to two west African countries in last 3 months against the plain virgin passport the applicant presented before at the Abuja embassy secondly the school in US that gave the first admission has promised and had deffer the admission after the visa refusal, and had offer fresh admission the applicant is using the same school but new admission letter and new I-20 form. my question is what is the applicant chances of be granted visa? @ Nahum777 & Ubah1, thanks |

PHUMEELAYO: Hello good people.... The queen of silent followers association over here whup whup
July 21st, 7:30 I was interviewed by the beautiful black American Lady (the young light-skinned one), she was just so calm and focused and it really helped me regain my confidence. Whenever she asked a question I didn't have an immediate answer, I would say excuse me.... The time it takes for her to reply, I was already thinking up an answer. I did breathe-in-breathe-out exercise at the beginning.
She was just staring at me and smiling, not typing much.... I couldn't afford to fidget or flinch at any question.
I: Good morning ma'am
VO: Good morning, and how do you do? I: I am great, thank you and you?
VO: good, good. pass me just your i20 and passport please. So what's your course of study? I: Masters of social work at east Tennessee State University in Johnson city Tennessee
VO: what do you do now? I: I am currently employed at xyz specialist center, a special needs school that caters to children with developmental disorders like autism, ADHD and Down's syndrome. As a program facilitator, my main duties are (she cuts me off, she was cross-checking with my DS160 throughout)
VO: so who would be sponsoring this trip? I: I got a merit scholarship that covers 50% of my tuition, my great-uncle and sister would cover the rest of my expenses. Then she goes through my i20
VO: Why didn't you apply to more affordable programs? I: well most of the other schools expect their MSW students to pick a concentration at the second year but since I don't have a BSW nor basic SW knowledge, I wanted programs that offer a generalist practice model where I would be able to experience every aspect of the profession
VO: any standardized tests I: yes, I sat for the GRE with a score of 314 and IELTS with an overall band score of 8
VO: who would you be staying with? Do you know anyone that has applied to or attending this school? I: I will be staying on campus at the Buccaneers ridge apartment and already made a deposit. No I don't know anyone at the school
VO: how then did you know about the school I: I made use of the worksheet available on the EducationUSA website and was able to solidly define my priorities. Then I researched for schools using socialworkdegreeguide.com, usnews, mastersportal and gradcafe and I was able to shortlist the programs fitting my requirements.
VO: What other schools did you apply to and how many admits? I: southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, University of Maine at Orono, Michigan State University at East Lansing, Ohio State University at Columbus and Georgia State at Atlanta. I was admitted by four of them.
VO: can I have bank statements to backup your claims (handed over my sis first, savings with over #11m) what does your sister do? I: she is a level 13 civil servant with the Lagos State govt
VO: (just looks at front page of the statement), has she ever left the country? I: No, she hasn't
VO: looks at my Uncle's (>$100k), where does he reside and what does he do? I: He stays at Maryland and is a real estates agent
VO: how did he get to the US? I: (laughing) he's my great-uncle and it would have been rude for me to ask him that, it was a long time ago even before my mum was born. From the stories passed down, I hear he was given a federal scholarship when he was in secondary school and later citizenship, I don't really know specifics, you know how stories can change when passed from generations to generations. VO: (laughing along with me) congratulations, I would be approving your visa..... Blah blah DHL.... Blah blah i20.... POE I: thank you ma'am, I do hope you enjoy the rest of your day. VO: I hope so too, thank you
This is my second interview, was denied June 27th.... Will dig that up and post later.
It would be remiss of me not to thank the wonderful people of this thread especially Texrem (wonderful man with a beautiful soul), Sorelee, Walsprings, lagosismyhome, profojah, meritdee and sponge3. from your first interview and second interview was it the same school, that offers you admission. |
