Likely a faulty transmission still. Anything is possible, you need good diagnosis to isolate electrical problems (ecu, wiring resistance, solenoids, sensors). |
Car Talk › Re: How Reliable Is Audi A4 in Nigeria? by EngRichie: 11:16am On Mar 26, 2020 |
Good responses. Great cars with advanced engineering. I must say that many mechanics don't understand the system of these cars. Quality of fuel available in Nigeria is a disaster for these cars and pain for the users. Using octane booster won't cost more as it causes the engine to burn less fuel. |

The ABS actuator (ABS pump) is likely faulty. oshosegun27: Hi, I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The 12v battery was changed recently and I noticed the "check vsc system" error code.
Now, it displays both "check hybrid system" and "check vsc system" error codes. It won't show ready when I start until I disconnect and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
I had someone scan it for me and I got the following codes. |

Smartchoiice: Falsehood. Utter falsehood. Just market your business... Go through my posts. I am not into childish arguments as you are used to. All you see me do on this platform is contribute what I know. I wasn't talking to you anyway. You don't know me and I don't know you. What is your problem with my business? I do guess that you don't even know anything about the system that I was referring to, and hence your rant and rude manners. This level of immaturity is nauseating. I am a very peaceful person and I don't like problems with people but congratulations as you go down in history as the one bad enough to make it happen. I will leave the rest of the argument for you to do with yourself as I won't give you the attention that you are looking for. |

For VW/Audi with direct fuel injection, troubleshooting is beyond an average DIY person or mechanic. You can check my signature and contact me. EnterpriseMan: Yea, exertly.. it happens in the mornings and after about 10secs, it stablises.. So if it's the fuel pressure issue, how do I fix it? |
Car Talk › Re: The Audi And Volkswagen Issues Resolution Thread by EngRichie: 12:21pm On Feb 15, 2020 |
Happened mostly in the morning right? Wrong octane fuel or fuel pressure issue. EnterpriseMan: Model: Audi A4 2010 quattro premium Transmission: Dual 6 speed automatic/manual Engine: Turbo v4
whenever I start the car, i notice a slight vibration which later dies down. someone told me that maybe some of the engine seats are weak and need replacement, but I have to be sure.. it's a very beautiful car and works perfectly, and damn very fast. got it to hit 201km/h from Abuja to Benin. I just need to know what causes the vibration.
Thanks in advance |

I wish you can abort this mission. OdogwuMike: Thank Goodness I saw this thread. I have ordered a VW Passat 2007 FSI Manual transmission from the UK.
The issue is that the gear sterling is located at the right hand side and I would want to convert it to the left hand side once it arrives Lagos on the 28th of February.
Has anyone done this before? Who can recommend, based on experience, an expert who can do this perfectly without issue.

Car Talk › Re: The Audi And Volkswagen Issues Resolution Thread by EngRichie: 9:38am On Feb 15, 2020 |
It's possible that it is a fuel delivery issue, especially with the high pressure fuel pump in the engine bay. Phedam: Hello guys, I use a 2007 model VW jetta. I just noticed some days back that while accelerating, my car suddenly jerks violently. Let me explain better, If the car is at, say 40km/hr and I start accelerating, when it gets to like 60 it stops increasing speed and starts jerking violently, if I take my leg a bit away from the pedal and move at constant speed (60km/hr) for about 30 seconds and then accelerate again it will respond to the acceleration until I get to like 80km/hr and it jerks again. and the same cycle occurs at 100km/hr.
Please is there anybody with an idea of what can be going wrong with the car. Responses will be appreciated. Thanks |

Car Talk › Re: Catalyst Converter Myth by EngRichie: 11:12am On Feb 04, 2020 |
Nice writeup. But from deeper research, it all depends on the car and the extent to which fuel economy is affected. It also depends on where fuel economy is affected. At low end or high end. Check how the cat affects low end torque and scavenging. Again, some cars use after cat sensors for fuel adjustment. It depends on the extent to which it does that. Some up to 10%, some 30%. Regards. |
Car Talk › Re: Is It True That A Tesla Creates More Pollution Than A Conventional Car? by EngRichie: 12:28pm On Jan 24, 2020 |
Those that say so, maybe in their conventional cars, especially the ones with two batteries, the batteries pollute the environment than the internal combustion engine. That's not a reasonable thought.
The key thing is proper battery disposal/recycle after end of life. |
Car Talk › Re: What’s Your Preference; Quick Or Fast? by EngRichie: 9:45am On Jan 24, 2020 |
I am looking forward to a time that I will see Nigerians discuss, contribute rather than argue. At least, contribute with few meaningful arguments.
It is an interesting question. Personally, I like both torque and speed. On most Nigerian roads, torque wins. Most torquey cars are relatively low revving contributing to better fuel economy and engine longevity. Some cars especially that of the Germans are versatile. They are ordinarily high speed cars but employ some other technogies like variable air intake, and so on to improve low to mid-range torque. So even with same engine capacity, they win others in low and high speed race. Let's remember other variables like impact of front and rear wheel on torque delivery and balance. Just so much to talk about. |

Chai.. Will these people ever catch up with the Germans? A 2007 Honda o. autologic: Honda doesnt provide such pids ,beside the type of fuel pump design is not duty cycle type but pure direct 12v actuated by PCM via relay Diagnosis this type of issue will require scoping the current waveform of the fuel pump amperage draw for volume test and performing pressure test with appropriate pressure transducer, analysis of this test and amperage waveform will tell such precise story ,however this is beyond DIY but advance diagnosis . |
