Car TalkRe: Golf 3 Hard Starting. Gurus help please! by EngRichie: 4:27am On May 14, 2019
Filter, pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel line, clogged injectors.
These are the most probable causes from your buru buru description (fuel starvation).

There are other causes.

The best approach is scanning and doing computer diagnosis first but I assumed that you wanted to do a DIY (do it yourself) thing.

Regards.

Car TalkRe: Please Help, My Camry Suddenly Developed A Gear Fault, Please. by EngRichie: 11:20am On May 04, 2019
I advise that you should drive the car with that thud you hear. It can damage it.

The cause might be a worn clutch or brake, worn valve body component(s), wrong or bad fluid, faulty solenoids, wiring and so on.

The best is to give you a thorough remote support. You can contact any expert on nairaland or chat me up on 08030420562.

At best, visit any of the good mechanics here for thorough diagnosis.

I have a feeling that he was driving a camry hybrid with a faulty brake actuator or stroke sensor, disengaged front brakes, unequal brakes pressure to the rear, and then attempted to brake suddenly on a speed that is not low.

You can diagnose this kind of issue better with a multimeter/Clamp meter.

Car TalkWho Checks Commercial Vehicles? by EngRichie(op): 10:33am On Apr 10, 2019
And that was how I boarded a bus at Iwo road park in Ibadan.

We set out and within seconds, I realized that I was in a sick vehicle. Shortly we passed the road safety marshals check point and as usual, they don't bother commercial vehicles.

Our highest speed was in the vicinity of 65km/hr from my judgement and even the trucks were overtaking. That itself was risky.

No single guage in that car works, not even the coolant temperature guage.

After Oyo, the storm and then rain started and behold the wiper wasn't functional.

Again, the driver doesn't utilize the side mirrors well before attempting to change lane. On few occasions, vehicles behind had to be defensive in their driving else we could have hit them.

By God's mercy and grace, we arrived safely.

But what I care to know is; who have we offended in this country that nothing seems to work?
Car TalkRe: P1009 Code: Car Frequently Stops In Traffic by EngRichie:
There are quite a number of things that can cause a car to go off when it is coming to a stop ranging from a faulty transmission lock up solenoid to a bad crankshaft position sensor e.t.c.

Something similar is also happening to my 2001 Honda Accord.. it just loses power after driving for a while and does hard start. Have to leave it for 30-1hr b4 it starts again.. I changed fuel pump and now the lose of power has even become more frequent.. Mech and rewire has checked everything.. Nobody can detect why the car loses power.. Just changed all the 4 plugs.

Please who can help me detect what's wrong and why my car loses power after driving a while!!
Car TalkRe: Camry 2007 Model Shakes Badly At 80-100km by EngRichie: 8:07pm On Apr 01, 2019
Try reliable computerized wheel balancing with a competent operator, check for suspension components and hub for play. Such causes resonance at certain speeds.
Car TalkRe: Can I Use 5w30 Instead Of 5w20 Recommended For My ACURA MDX 07 (tokubo) by EngRichie: 6:54pm On Mar 19, 2019
On point.

greenhulk:
Nothing is wrong. 5w30 is a little bit thicker than 5w20, they are both thin synthetic oils compared to 20w50. In fact it might even be an advantage for high mileage cars so the oil won't be too thin at high temperature.
Car TalkRe: Volkswagen Passat CC Won't Start by EngRichie: 2:19pm On Mar 19, 2019
Is it belt driven? If it is, it is likely that a belt driven FSI engine was planted there as a replacement for a chain driven TSI engine.
You may snap your engine bay and place here.
Car TalkRe: Can I Use 5w30 Instead Of 5w20 Recommended For My ACURA MDX 07 (tokubo) by EngRichie: 2:08pm On Mar 19, 2019
When sticking with manufacturer recommendation of very low viscosity grade of oils like this, ensure you stick with VERY TOP QUALITY FULL SYNTHETIC oils.

Else, use 5W30 Synthetic especially if you drive under high speed and load.

please elaborate on 20w 50 mobil xhp most of us are using in nigeria. is it a good oil, when should it be used
I am very sorry for not responding to this post. I have been away for a long time.

Let me assume that I know where your question is heading. It is not a good oil for recent engines.
Use it only when you have exhausted every available less viscous oil and you still need to keep the car running with that engine at that time, especially when the engine is sludged and/or leaks oil.

Regards.

Car TalkRe: Sincere Advice Needed Asap by EngRichie: 11:42am On Aug 29, 2018
I know, that's why I said "from my experience". Another person can have a different experience. I don't also drive the older one as hard as the 2006 generation because of handling...

greenhulk:
The embolded is not true. 2006 sienna has better city and highway mpg than the 1999 model. Though maintenance might be higher on the long run because it requires more expensive fluid and has more electricals. But then when u consider it's a newer car especially if it's not Nigerian used. Then the equation will balance. I'll choose the newer sienna anyday.
Car TalkRe: Sincere Advice Needed Asap by EngRichie: 10:42am On Aug 29, 2018
youngchopper:
Thanks bro. What could be the difference in maintenance ?
Yes, but marginal. For example, you use the expensive T IV ATF for 2006 model while you use dexron III for the 1999 model.

The 2006 is more powerful, handles better, has a very good turn radius relative to the 1999 model.

2006 has a 3.3L engine while 1999 has a 3.0L engine.

From my experience, 2006 is slightly more thirsty.

I still wish to remind you that if fuel economy will be a concern, don't go for the car but it is powerful, fun to drive, spacious, comfortable and reliable.

The advantage I see 1999 model have over 2006 is a dash fascia that last, but surely, there will be others.
