Webmasters / Re: Nairahost really not a hosting to go with ! by eolutosin(m): 10:20pm On Sep 16, 2008
Hi all,
Thanks for the concerns. We already sent an email to Smartsoft on how to resolve this.

However, I feel that my fellow professionals would know better about how the Interswitch WebPay gateways works. For the benefit of others who don't know, I will like to highlight what "abhosts" already said in his post:
Step 1: Clients Places Order Online on Merchant's website
Step 2: Interswitch checks client's account to check if there is enough balance for the transaction
Setp 3: Interswitch deducts money from client's Card
Step 4: Complete order on Merchant's Site and add payment to client's invoice
Step 5: Credit Merchant Webpay Account With Proceeds of Sale.

The problem was with step 3 and 4. The interswitch log shows that the transaction was not completed. So, Step 4 was not completed.

Like I said in my previous response, Nairahost does not have the money. I have checked both our GTBank account and Interswitch log several times already today. The money was not credited to our account. We quite that understand that Smartsoft's bank account may have been debited and that is why we explained what we feel he can do to ensure that he gets his money back as soon as possible. Please note that interswitch only credits Merchant account when transaction is completed.

I had similar experience sometimes back when I placed order for some services online. My account was debited and the merchant's was not credited. So, I was not offered the service. I had to send a letter to my bank (stating date of transaction, amount, merchant involved). My bank resolved the issue and credited my account with the money deducted. The banks and interswitch definitely know how to resolve this kind of issue.

This is exactly what I suggested that Smartsoft should do in my response to his ticket raised.

Thank you

@smartsoft:
We are really surprised about your claim. We received many payments everyday from clients who place order for one service or the other on nairahost.com. I have just checked the interswitch / GTBank log now again and the report is still "Transaction just initiated". The transaction was never completed and that is the reason money was not added to your invoice and the order not processed.

Let me highlight the ordering and payment process for you in case you don't understand it. When you place order online on any merchant website and you reach the payment page, interswitch / GTBank takes over. Once payment is completed, you will be returned back to the invoice with the payment added to it. The transaction is then put in the logged with details and the merchant account credited. If a transaction is not completed, the invoice is not credited and the merchant does not get the money. The status is recorded in the log too. This is the same log I have checked times without number.

I am not saying that your money is not debited but Nairahost does not have your money. I am sure that this is not the first time you are ordering from Nairahost. If your payment is completed, your order will be processed. And I believe others on this forum will testify to this. I am not saying Nairahost is perfect but we are gradually building a company that delivers quality service at affordable price. Integrity is part of our watchwords and we do everything to uphold this.

Kindly contact your account officer and request for refund. GTBank knows what to do to get your money back if your account was debited in the first case.

Don't hesitate to contact us if there is any way we can be of help. My email address is emmanuel.oluwatosin[AT]nairahost[DOT]com.

Thank you for the understanding
Webmasters / Re: Nairahost really not a hosting to go with ! by eolutosin(m): 5:10pm On Sep 15, 2008
@ Smartsoft,
Please note that GTBank / Interswitch handles the payment gateway and Nairahost has no access to your account. As soon as a payment is completed, the gateway adds money to the invoice which then marks it paid. As you can see from your client area, your invoice still shows unpaid. An order is processed only when payment is completed. I just looked through the log again and the transaction was not completed.

I believe that if there is a problem resulting from payment processing, the merchants should not be held liable. The whole system is automated and interswitch only credits the invoice ONLY when the transaction is completed at the gateway. As I am writing this, the money is not in our account nor the transaction completed.

As regards your account that was debited, kindly contact your bank who will be able to track all transactions on your account and will be able to initiate refund to your bank account. Meanwhile, kindly check your email and reply if there is any further issue. I already replied to your ticket earlier in the day and we would appreciate it if you stay with our support system.

Thank you

It does not matter where your server is located. All you need to do is to ensure that you point the .edu.ng domain to the server where you have your hosting account
Webmasters / Re: Nigerian Blogs Are Dying by eolutosin(m): 2:30pm On Aug 04, 2008
I think one of the reasons why most blogs are dead now is because the owners lack passion for what they are writing about. Like Syskay pointed out, many people just started a blog because they read somewhere that they can make money online blogging. The starting point to having and running a blog is to have a need that you want to fill. This has to be something that you are passionate about that you can commit some of your time to it. Blogging takes time and it involves serious learning. You can not give what you don't have.

I have been maintaining my blog - http://www.eolutosin.com - since 2005 and today, the blog is still active. My focus is on helping entrepreneurs and career people maximise their resources and achieve their goals.

So, if you want to start a blog, identify a need first and then make a committment to meeting those needs. It will take a lot of discipline from you but I can tell you that it is worth it. Lives of people will be transformed and I believe that is enough reward already.

All the best

Career / How To Get Into The Top Mba Schools by eolutosin(m): 7:14pm On Jan 31, 2008
Are you currently considering going for your MBA? Do you know what to do? Even if your answer is YES, read on. In December 2003, I decided to go for an MBA. I did a search online for tips on how to get into the top MBA schools but all the information I got were not easily accessible. I went through the application process and started my MBA in September 2007.

I took the GMAT examination in October 2005 and scored a 650 (90th Percentile). This is not a bad score considering the fact that I studied for the GMAT without the assistance of an expensive test prep class over the course of 21 days. I submited my applications to 3 top Business Schools without the help of any admission consultant. If you are like me that may not be able to afford the fees of admission consultant, I have put up my experience together online at MBAXPLOIT.

I believe that this will serve as a study guide for future GMAT test takers, MBA applicants and MBAs. You do not need to purchase expensive test prep services to do well on the GMAT nor do u need to secure the help of a MBA admission consultant to get admission to your DREAM school!

On this blog, you will find:
[li]A repository of useful articles for Business School applicants. The articles are aimed to help you with all aspects of starting your business school application to getting MBA admission.[/li]
[li]A collection of relevant website links and resources about Business School Application. You look through these resources right away or bookmark them for future references.[/li]
[li]Fresh content is added regularly which will include interviews with fellow MBAs, current & future MBA applicants. You will also get how-to instructional articles with current hot topics like deciding on which MBA is right for you, preparing for your GMAT examination and to completing your MBA application.[/li]
How to use this site
I shared my experience and those of others on the journey to an MBA and life after. Using this website, you would be able to model your study schedule. Feel free to use this website in any capacity that suits your study needs. Also, be sure to explore the links to other resources that I would be providing on this website – they were very helpful in my MBA application.

Meanwhile, I am recommending that you start with the following write-ups

* Do you need an MBA?
* Starting your MBA journey?
* Starting Your MBA journey II
* Recommended Books

All the best in your MBA applications.

Hi,
There is nothing wrong in you resigning as long as you are convinced that you know what you want unless you still want to work in your present place of employment. Weigh your options and decide on which one pays you most. The fact that you are on suspension may sound as a warning to you of things to come later. So, act wisely

Jobs/Vacancies / Are Jobs Really Scarce? by eolutosin(m): 10:49pm On Jan 04, 2008
Despite the amount of information available within our finger-tips, jobs still seem to be scarce or rather it seems jobs are for the selected few… Why is it that those we term “the selected few” are the ones getting the jobs all time? Do they have two heads? I have heard people even say that it not possible for you to get a job without knowing anybody. The “oga” of a friend who is working in one of the first generation bank even challenged her to say the name of the person who helped her to get the bank’s job. Imagine? The “oga” himself could not believe that someone could get employment in their bank without know anybody.

I am sorry to disappoint you if belong to this same school of thought. I did get my current job without knowing anybody. I am sure so many others have been able to get jobs without knowing somebody in the organisation they work for. They must definitely be doing something right.

I still remember a friend who changed her jobs like 4 times within a year while some others have not been able to secure one. Each time she wanted to change job, something always came her way that made the whole process looked ordinary.

If you fall within the “some others” that have not been able to secure a job or you are currently job-hunting, why do you think you have not gotten a job? Share your experience, If you have a job, let us hear how you have been to do it.

Meanwhile, I would be doing a series at http://www.eolutosin.com how you can secure the job of your dreams. All the best in your search.
Business / How To Find Market For Your Business Idea by eolutosin(m): 10:39pm On Jan 04, 2008
Can you find someone who will buy your business idea? Usually, when people first come up with an idea for their business they assume they could then sell their idea to everyone, everywhere. The trick here is to try and find the groups of people or businesses that will buy from you, and work out WHY they will buy your product or service.

What need are you fulfilling and how will people benefit from buying from you? There are many sources of information that can help you discover whether there is a market for your business idea. Some of it can be very general but some of it can be very specific, and a lot of this research information can be free.

Make a note to contact the Small Business Directory in your area and find out what information might be available on the market you hope to supply. If they don’t have direct access to relevant information, they usually know where it can be found. You might also need to do a search on-line. You would be surprised that you would get more information than you presently need.

Business / Re: Have A Business Idea And Resources But Need Some Advise by eolutosin(m): 11:41pm On Jan 02, 2008
Hi,
The first thing I would suggest you consider is LOCATION. When it comes to supermarket business, you need to be feasible. People need to know that you are within reach and that you offer quality product. Another thing you will need to consider is what will differentiate you from other supermarkets. Why should I leave the current supermarket where I buy my things and come to yours? You need to answer this question and write that whatsoever that you pick.

Having sorted this out, you then need to consider how you will be getting your goods. Do a research on the major dealers available and work something with them. I am sure you would be able to get a good bargain if you negotiate well and your supermarket can drive volume sales.

All the best

Career / Re: Do You Have A Career Mentor? by eolutosin(m): 12:36pm On Jan 02, 2008
Hi all,
I believe the question should be DO YOU NEED A MENTOR? The main reason why people don't have mentor is because they don't know what they start to benefit from it. A mentor helps you to avoid pitfalls. They have gone on a route before and can save you a lot of trouble if you can ride on their experience.

Hi,
A lot of people here have made useful contribution. I would, however, like to add some few suggestions. First, you need to be truthful to yourself in answering this question, "What will you rather do if money is not a question?". Your sincere answer to this question will show you what you should focus your energy o. This defines YOU. It defines what you enjoy to do. Money should not be the main focus in choosing a career. Your passion should come first. Money always follows your passion.

So, friend, answer the question raised and choose a career path that offers you this opportunity.

Business / Re: Have Problems Progressing In Business, Any Solution For Me? by eolutosin(m): 12:06pm On Jan 02, 2008
Hi nerone,
I would suggest that you carry out an honest audit of your activities and that of your business for the past one year. This will open your eyes to some of the things you did right or wrong. It is one thing to know the principles but another thing to apply then right. I run few businesses too and I must tell you that I have not had a better last year.

Also, you need to convince yourself that there is market for your business idea. Having a great idea is not enough. You need to be able to get market for your idea. The essence of business is being able to create and keep customer. If you are unable to do this, you will only be in business for a while. So, carry out a study to know if there is market for your idea. Then, do everything to get the attention of your target audience.

You may have a quick look at www.eolutosin.com. You may be able to find some useful tips on how to take your business forward.

All the best.
Business / Re: What Business Can I Start With 4,000 Naira? by eolutosin(m): 11:50am On Jan 02, 2008
Hi,
the first thing I will suggest is to do a quick check on the skills that you have. After this, then you must be ready to do the dirty job. The problem with starting a business is not capital but our attitude. I used to have a washerman who would come to the house to wash and iron our clothes. At the end of the month, he was being paid N4,000. This guy was so diligent and was even able to win my trust and those of my friends. Within months, the guy was offering the same service for other people. As I am writing this, the guy collects close to N40,000 on a monthly basis from this service.

So, the question is "are you ready to offer legitimate service?". Visit https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-103100.0.html for some great business opportunities you may want to consider. Meanwhile, if you need help as regards starting and/or running a business, do visit http://www.eolutosin.com. All the best

Are you working and wish you could start something along the time? Do you want to explore some business opportunities while you are still in paid employment? Are you ready to try out your business skills? Then, now is the time to explore. You can run your business alongside while you keep your current employment. I did the same thing when I started a company with 2 other people and I don’t see any reason why you can not do the same. It just takes a decision and a personal commitment from you to learn and apply the necessary skills.

Starting and running a small business is not just about working for yourself, it’s also about having the necessary management skills, industry expertise, technical skills, finance and of course a long-term vision to grow and succeed. With the economy still on track and the number of entrepreneurs on the rise, you won’t be alone if you decide to take the plunge this year.

Although thousands of employees dream of escaping the nine to five grind and become their own boss, many are still unsure of what sort of business they want to start and how they can ensure their new venture is a success.

So, I have come up with a list of different types of business you may want to start up in the next few weeks, with comprehensive advice on how to run your new firm. If you fancy being anything from an estate agent to a personal trainer, you can actually make your business profitable.

Web Hosting: This is indeed one of the easiest businesses to start right now. With little or no capital, you can pick up a reseller plan from a reliable web hosting provider from within your location. Visit Starting a Profitable Web hosting business for details.

Web designer: This is one niche where there is high demand right now. You only need to have the basic skills and should be able to work with PHP and MySQL. You will also be able to get many clients if you can design custom wordpress themes. The starting point is for you to create a blog for yourself to show what you can do. You may also need to join forums where you can easily market your skills to others.

Consultancy: Helping other people run their business may seem daunting at first, but many budding entrepreneurs have the skills and experience to become first class consultants.

Clothes shop: With such a wide range of clothes shops out there, you have a several options when trying to tap into this huge market.

Outside catering: Whether its catering for a major sporting event or a low-key wedding, the need for food and drink at gatherings does not go out of fashion. Find out how to set up your own catering company.

Gift shop: Boosted by the tourist trade, gift shops can be a very popular business to own. Why not get wrapped up in the idea and start up your own? Remember Valentine is around the corner. You may be able to make some money…

Driving school: Whether it took you two attempts or 20 to pass your driving test, you wouldn’t have got there without a driving instructor. If you can put up with the exams and novice drivers, this line of work can be rewarding.

Photography business: When your school photo was being taken, you probably gave little thought to the fact that the photographer would soon be off to another job, maybe a wedding, to make ends meet. If you have a passion for photography, get a clear picture of what is involved in setting up your own firm. I was involved at one time or the other in this business. If you need more help, contact me grin

Day nursery: With both parents increasingly keen to return to work after having children, day nurseries are also vital to many families who can’t afford to give up a regular income to stay at home. You really need to network and let people know that you are available for this. You are definitely going to make some money from this if you manage it well.

Restaurant: Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or just don’t fancy cooking, eating out is big business with a huge variety of restaurants now inhabiting Lagos streets. This is one business you should consider starting if you have the required capital.

For insights on how you can start out on your own with little capital, visit www.eolutosin.com. Meanwhile, just make up your mind to do something with your time from this moment. You will succeed.

Hi,
I would say that getting finance is not the first thing. You have to have customers for your product / service. The bank or finance house is only interested in making more money for themselves. As such, will only fund business which can help them to achieve this aim.

So, I would advise the person to sit down with his / her business idea and go for customers. Once you are able to get customers, funding will come in.

Enjoy
