What are you talking about? Was it not said that Rooney played all over the pitch selflessly during his time here? This is the issue!

Ball retention is primarily the job of the CMs/guys on the double pivot and secondarily on the system implemented by the manager. Bruno's job is mainly creating goal scoring chances and starting attacks.

If the CM guys are failing in this aspect, how is the team able to maintain higher ball possessions than almost every other team they play against?

Bruno just like any attacker will try to find forward players and opposing defenders will cut out most only few will go through. The balance between Fred and McTominay was better than this. McTominay didn't get a pass because of his goals but because he chipped in with goals while contributing in midfield.

Yesterday his midfield play was obviously lackadaisical and when i checked the stats at half time he had 0,0,0 in most of the defensive stats. He contributed virtually nothing yesterday allowing Fred to be overrun IMO. It is normally a bit more balanced between them but it wasn't yesterday.

P.S Not like Fred had an excellent game cos he also struggled at times with and without the ball and his passing was worse than McTominay's in the first half, however in the 2nd half he put in a shift.

Lol I could have sworn you went to check when nitrogen wanted to drag Fred for not doing anything while Tom was doing everything.

I still blame all the imbalance on Ole. No matter the personnel on the field, I struggle to see what the plan is that doesn't involve Bruno. The energy is just too low for a big team. We can't go anywhere with that
