If they tried to reach me the way Bala did, and i am a multi-millionaire like Kelechi, i won't ignore them.

He paid for Kelechi during those days, so i will say he showed he cared for him.
What if they paid for each other other during those days? He didn't sponsor Kelechi.

You don't need to wait for them to try to reach you before you repay all the ps2 money they paid for you and the ball you guys played together

You can't make assumptions about their relationship.
You can only judge from the story you have seen, and the description given shows one of very close young Friends.

He even has a picture of themselves playing together. So most likely they knew themselves.
I played street football with people I didn't know their first names. What are you talking about?

Lol first of all where did you see paint? Are you still friends with some people you were very good friends with back in the days? Would Bala have cried out if Kelechi is not as wealthy and popular as this?

Most of you guys will always focus on what's in front of you and not remember the past.

I read where the Bala guy said they went together to get fruits in the bush. Where he paid for him, watching matches and playing ps2 games. If the stories are right then they were really close friends back then.

What made Kelechi not to show him love? If the guy didn't do him anything bad along the line, Kelechi was not fair to him.
I believe Kelechi also paid for the guy's ps2 games and some other things at some point. Or are we now saying Bala sponsored Kelechi?

To me,buddies are very important and have a great part to play in my life.

Getting in touch with them at any available opportunity isnt a bad idea.

Stretching a helping hand to them when i have more to give will even make me more satisfied.

There are memories that are so important that it becomes bad forgetting/abandoning the person involved
The only issue I see here is if Kelechi has refused to keep in touch in spite of this guy's effort

Many friendships have ended naturally, mostly from people changing location and all. This is no different. Because Kelechi is in plenty money, this friend is trying to make something out of it. If Kelechi wasn't this successful, we probably wouldn't hear anything

Of course, I am in support of community policing. There has to be an arrangement that works. We can still have a federal police like the FBI while states take charge of their respective internal security through the local government.
Yeah exactly what I am saying. And the constitution should be clear about the separation of power. People shouldn't have to police communities far from their families. The police for every area should be people that are familiar with that area and everyone knows them there including their wives, children, church, mosque etc.

Like it was stated here, the problem of Nigeria is not the leaders, but the Nigerians from whom a fraction of them becomes part of the leaders.

If you grant power to an average Nigerian he will misappropriate it, which is likely going to happen with community policing.
My own gross in all these, is that no one should make a non-performing government seem like not.
A party that can't even put itself in order, and a president who can't put his family in order.
What we should be trying to do is strengthen the system. A strengthened system will prevent abuse of power

Why are you being unnecessarily defensive tho? grin It’s an open discussion on which way you think our policing should be structured. Wike was just used as an example of State Govenors rascality.
And I have responded abi? There will always be one reason or the other why something will not work. It's never going to be easy. There are some things we will have to face head on sooner than later. State policing is one of them.

I'm not sure I'm paid to think up a solution for Rivers state. They have the house of assemblies and judiciary. They have human right groups there. There are social media warriors to tackle him and put him in check. Wike is aggressive There are 36 states in Nigeria. Is Wike's state the only one you're afraid for?

We need serious Police reforms, the fear of a discentralized Police in the hands of our State Governor gives me serious concerns but we must find a way to do community policing.

Just imagine state police under someone like Wike. cheesy
His town people will checkmate him by theirselves unless they're not ready. That's their problem. We have been having this fear for years now but no fear from the federal abi? The country can't be held hostage by some set of people. We can have federal and state police.

I am all for states to remit a percentage of the revenue they generate to the center and not the centre getting everything and sharing to states wherein a state that isn't contributing or contributing little becomes a leech.

When you talk about security in the current structure, I will love to know why then the governors get security votes when the usual excuse is that they don't have any control the security apparatus. Doesn't it sound crazy to you?
I think it's the constitution that's faulty here. The security votes may be to pay salaries or whatever but an order from the igp office supercedes that of a governor. We have seen this play out a couple of times

My own is that, don't these politicians travel abroad and see how things are done. Baba has traveled the globe, the governors and ministers have all gone abroad to witness how things work but they all chose to be stupid. How hard is it to better the lives of your citizens.. they get to power and only want to secure their pockets and the future of their children.
Five years is enough to actually do something significant.. five years and you still constructing rail lines in a route no bigger than some states in other countries.
How hard is it to investigate murders or tell SARS to stop killing young boys or order the military or police to respect civilian rights.. It's not even possible when they have turned a whole DSS to a kidnapping organisation.
The blame goes round as our governors are equally incompetent... It's time we stopped demanding less from these politicians and hold them accountable for everything. They have done nothing and deserves no praise..
Every issue is important, a government that turns blind eye on killings happening in the country whether by Police, Army, Herdsmen and so on surely don't care about it's citizens.
24 hours light dey sweet, driving on good roads is heaven, going to the police station an they give you your balance after you paid 50 dollars for something is Nice... That's after greeting you how are you sir when you entered..
Having Ambulance come pick you up in less than five minutes of calling shouldn't be that hard to do, doctors go soon japa finish from our country cos the difference is clear abroad.
Make I Siddons chop the 600k in naira I was paid by the government and school.... It's nothing compared to tuition fees but then cool... All they wanted was for us to show we still schooling.. I didn't have to belong to any political party or come from Katsina... cool cool
They can't manipulate an enlightened population. This is why they're not interested in making the difficult decisions to change how things work in this country. What they prefer to do is plastering the cracks. A new government comes in and the cracks are exposed

Nigeria's problem isn't about Buhari or the APC, it's Nigerians. You participate in a survey and because of money, you falsify data and still you blame the government, who is the government?

Your respective state governors collect millions in security votes yet they do nothing with it yet all the blame goes to the centre.

During the campaigns, Nigerians are more interested in what politicians has to offer in cash and other material benefits rather than what he has to offer and how he intends to achieve his plans. Pray tell, do you expect someone to buy a nomination form for over 20m, spend billions consulting the who is who and buying rice, Maggi, tomatoes as well as cash gifts for the masses not to recoup his cash? Even I will seek to recoup my money. It's not rocket science that these things have a corresponding ripple effect on out collective development. Nigerians need to change the criteria we use to evaluate our leaders and that way, rather than cash gifts, we will begin to ask probing questions bordering on what their manifestos is all about, how they intend to achieve them and when...Not what is obtainable now where someone comes up and offers wads of cash to people and when given the mic, begins to make lofty promises that aren't SMART.

Another area of concern is how to unbundled our present political party platforms. Personally, I will prefer independent candidature because before you get the ticket of PDP or APC, you will have to give in to the demands of evils men.

Regarding the present administration, I will say I am really disappointed in PMB, I genuinely had high hopes when he was elected in 2015 but as at 2019, it was as clear as daylight that he didn't have it in him to deliver the change he promised and that's why I opted for Sowore.

In spite of my general assessment of the present administration, I still score them well above average in some indicators and that's why I love to read from Larride. He is informed about what is happening and even though I really don't agree with all his points, I appreciate the time he takes out to provide useful information here and I encourage others to go about disagreement with him in a rational manner.

In all, we are still a long way off dreamland as religion and ethnicity remains veritable tools in the hands of our oppressors.
Why won't it be so? There's a security issue, they have to run to Abuja. The IGP can even refuse to obey the governors if he wants. The governors have to go to Abuja to collect money every time.

Let the states generate their revenue and be in charge of it. They can be sending some percentage to the federal instead of the other way round. You will see how states will sit up and nobody bothers abuja again on major issues. But we're not ready for this talk yet
