Family › Re: My Brother In Law (sister's Husby) Is Becoming Too Rude For My Liking... by Ephemmm: 2:11pm On Jan 12, 2016
GMartyns:
Hello, I have to share this with you simply because I want to have you suggest and advice on what to do.

After my graduation, It's over a year now that I've been staying with my Elder Sister and her husband. No kids yet.  Believing God for a job. So I could be independent of anyone.

The issue is, I wonder how on earth my sister could marry him- an unbeliever. Him and my sister are just like two opposite poles. She's a believer, but the husband claims to be a christian but not ungodly so to speak. At a time, he stopped going to church for a period of 3 to 4 months.

He listens to corrupt songs, and at a time told my sister her parent would burry her soon. What transpired between them I could not tell.

He suddenly becomes rude, demanding that, I,  his brother in-law should wash every plate he uses to eat the food he cooks and dishes out by himself in the presence of my sister.

This is a man who stays at home all the day doing absolutely nothing. He is 40. I am 30.

Each time I return home, the kitchen is always messed up. And deliberately, leaves the kitchen in such a mess, so I could clean them up for him, since I'm staying with them. Yet, he could cook the food by himself, dished it by himself and sleep all all day or probably watch the TV .

My Sister works 7 to 7 daily, and most of the times, she would have been tired , returning from work.

We don't eat together. I wash every plate I personally use. Most times, I cook the food, and have him and my sister eat first. And then I dish mine later.

Lately, I have been observing some fastings, and I rarely go to the kitchen to cook nothing. Yet he demands that must wash every plate he uses to eat whether or not I eat on that day.

My question is, Is it right for my Sister's Husband to be demanding for such, asking me to wash his dirty plates? when he doesn't even care whether I have eaten or not.

He said and I quote " I can't be washing plates in this house, neither is my wife going to do same, you must wash every plate used in this house  henceforth"

To me, it is the hottest insult I have ever received. Not even my own mother would demand for such a dirty request...

Now, I resolved to not eating anymore in the house, probably that would put a stop to the ridicule.
I will rather stay in a room that contains six age-mates than staying in such a house. It has happened to me before calling me all sorts of names which I didn't care.

Even if you cannot afford a room, join your two or three friends and live together.

[s]Check my post. You are the one bringing a tribal slant to this! A responsible government would have proceeded as follows :
1. Wait till the second week of January when most people are back from holidays.
2. As another nairalander suggested, show up with police, bulldozers, etc, ready for action just to show that you mean business. You may even do some little harmless damage and stop.
3. After pleading, give them a few weeks to vacate. This will also allow those still on holidays to get informed. All of this may be captured on TV, newspapers to show magnanimity of the state government.

A responsible, responsive and caring government would avoid any opportunity of wastage as the case here. The market also provided direct and indirect employment for thousands of young Nigerians irrespective of tribe.[/s]
You can continue your ranting to eternity: it can't force Ambode to revoke his action. Destruction of Oshodi market has been in the air from the time immemorial.

Everybody has been notified since last year to vacate the place: what stopped them from moving away? I have a friend selling shoes their; don't think I don't have first hand information.

Ownership is different from possession. Lagos state is the owner of the market and no occupant can dictate what the owner would do with his/her properties.

STOLEN!!!

Did you notice that ALL of those who have been named as having shared in the blood money by Dasuki are Muslims, Christians and even atheists? Do you realise that ALL of them are Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw, Fulani and all of the hundreds of ethnic nationalities making up Nigeria? Have you asked yourself why you didn't hear any shout of marginalization or oppression when the money was being shared by Mr Donatus Dasuki?

Let me break it down for you. In that secret place where they make a feast of our commonwealth, nobody is Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw or whatever. There's no Christian, Muslim or traditionalist when illicit money is to be preyed upon. No tribe or religion, they belong to one family: the political class and their interests transcends tribe, ethnicity or religion. Money is their paradise and their belly is the only god they worship.

So, next time any of these idiots come screaming that your tribe is being marginalized or that someone is trying to wipe out your religion, tell him to go to hell and enjoy his journey to there. If you agree with him and allow them to turn your destiny to a Ludo game, then Sorry is your middle name and you suffer from a terminal disease called 'Congenital Stupidity'. It has no cure and the symptoms don't show very early. Once you're afflicted with CS, the end result is to die in ignorance while defending the idiots who turned you into a whimpering MUMU. Accept my sympathy.

Politics › Re: Nnamdi Kanu's Solution To Biafran Matter Unacceptable-ohaneze Ndigbo by Ephemmm: 4:54pm On Jan 08, 2016
Mosseuirdoctore:
According to the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the clamour for secession from the Nigerian state, is not the solution to the problems of the South East region.

Secretary General of the group, Dr. Joe Nwaorgu, says Ohanaeza Ndigbo does not align with the strategy of the founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, in addressing the marginalisation of the Igbos.

Nwaorgu said Ohanaeze Ndigbo believes that the problems of the Ndigbo could be resolved within the country and not through violence.

“Kanu’s solution to the Biafran matter is different from ours and not acceptable to us. Kanu and the Ohanaeze Ndigbo are operating on different sides of the coin. He and the youths believe in going out to the streets to protest. Kanu’s despondency is much deeper than ours. I am not trying to justify his method but we demand his unconditional release.”

“For us that witnessed the civil war, our approach now is that Nigeria’s problems can be solved within Nigeria and by Nigerians. Ohanaeze will not support secession and violence. This is why we are agitating that the 8th National Assembly implements the confab report evolved during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

This includes the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference. The National Assembly must not fail us.”

“What we are fighting for in the present dispensation is that the wickedness of over 35 years after the civil war should be corrected. “Justice and equity must be the hallmarks of the new government. We maintain our stand that the confab report should be implemented.”

Politics › Re: Oshodi Demolition: Igbo Traders Demand N20bn Compensation by Ephemmm:
viviangist6:
Igbo Traders in the demolished Owonifari market, Oshodi yesterday demanded for 20 billion naira from the Lagos State government for properties and goods lost to the demolition.

The traders under the Igbo Traders Congress while protesting the demolition at the market denied allegations that Biafra agitators were holding meetings inside the market.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, Chibuzor Onugha said the demolition was targeted at Igbo traders in the state.

“We are being punished because PDP won in this area, they alleged that the we are holding Biafra meeting its all false, they just want to punish the Igbo’s for political reasons,” Onugha said.

The traders said the state government breached the court Injunction against demolition, saying its heading to court to seek compensation against the 20 billion goods lost to the demolition.

He said the markets accommodated about 5000 traders while the government only provided slots for 600 traders at the new Isopakodowo market.

However the Lagos State Government defended the relocation of traders plying their trade in Owonifari market to the newly built ultra-modern Isopakodowo market in Bolade-Oshodi, saying the action was taken in the overall interest of public good, safety and security.

Speaking during a joint press briefing addressed by the State’s Ministries of Information and Strategy, The Environment, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Office of Civic Engagement, the government said it constructed an alternative market stall for the traders which can conveniently accommodate over 600 shops and hundreds of kee clamps, and agreed to subsidize payment by giving shops at the new market at a monthly give away price of N5, 000.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde said the traders were adequately notified before the exercise took place as required by law, and that government engaged with the leadership of the market severally before carrying out the demolition exercise on Owonifari Market.

While clarifying issues on the demolition which took place on January 5, 2016, Ayorinde said it was important for people to note that the issue of the market had been on for nothing less than ten years, adding that government had been engaging the leadership of the market to make them realize that it could no longer continue in the manner in which the market was being used.

He said unfortunately, the leadership of the market, in the last three years, refused to move despite the fact that the new market has over 600 shops apart from the kee clamps which takes the number of people that the market could conveniently accommodate to over a thousand all together.

Though not an economist, but you can just put dust into my eyes because I had B2 in economics during my secondary school days tongue tongue tongue

1. Increase in the cost of goods have little effect on middlemen, consumers who are mostly not Ibos would be at the receiving end: how has this affected only Ibos if I may ask?

2. You also said that the dollar policy has also disproportionately affected Igbos because most Igbos have had to close business, because they cannot even find the dollar to pay for their imported goods. The simple understanding of demand and supply will tell you that the lower the supply, the higher the price: consumer will also be at the receiving end in that the little available imported product will be costlier than before. You need to wake up from your slumber.

3. Destruction of Oshodi market is a good move in my own opinion: its existence does more harm than good. Apart from the fact that the market habours bunch of criminals, its arrangement and design is an eyesour in Lagos metropolis.

However, I prefer to believe that my grandma is a virgin till date than believing that nobody was giving notice. Besides, LASG has both ownership and possession of the market: why the gnashing of teeth?

Consumers, who are mostly non-ibos are king when it comes to business activities: no business activities can survive if they don't exist. That is why it will be more easier for an horse to pass through the needle's eye than for all Ibos to go back to Biafra(availability of market/consumer).

Anything that affect Ibos business will bring about rise in the price of imported product: consumers will bear its resultant effect. A visitor to the house of bereaved has no reason to cry more than the child of the bereaved: stop being tribalistic.

My own case get K-legs oooo.

I woke up on one Saturday morning healthy with the major aim of disturbing the hospitals that have been deducting money from my salaries for over a year.

On getting there, my answer was resounding 'yes' to anything the doctor asked me. He was so confused that he didn't know the kind of disease I had.

Without telling me, he called his lab scientist to test my HIV status. After a while, the lab scientist resurfaced saying - congratulations. 'On what' I asked him? His reply was that I was HIV negative.

Men! I nearly fainted. I have been persuaded more than three times to come for HIV test, but I always declined. This one caught me unaware. Latter on, I started imagining- is this the way I could have been tagged 'HIV positive' assuming the test was positive?

May God save us.
