I did only one Uber @ 0% because I faced Taxify when I felt I could achieve the target

jesusson2020: Better you take yab as Uber man, than take yab as a labourer from site engineer.
Since I started this job I have never slept in the car, I always go home, immediately I finished my 12hours with Uber. I live in lakowe and I operate more on the island.
I think most of those drivers that sleeps in the car, are drivers that live far away.
Maybe relocating will help their matter. Yea location plays an important role. Some people don't like blowing empty back home...they rather sleep in the cars and get requests next morning. Someone once told us here that he has about 4 houses in different locations where he sleeps when night falls. |

A lot of us still make more money than him without the useless noise. I have boldness to say that I'm still one the best drivers on this forum but I have decided to keep mute about my earnings because the money I make does not correlate to the energy I put in talk less of money I spend to maintain my car . Las las we go dey alright. They are the key words |

Debosneh31: Few days aga OK If car was parked for few days and after moving it for the first time, you noticed this, it will stop after driving for some mins (it has happened to me before). It is a sign that the power steering pump is not perfect. But if it persists for hours or days and it is very hard to steer, you need to fix it asap. |

Rollitout: I am getting more card trips than cash, out of about 9 daily trips, at least 7 would be card. Even more request coming in on Bolt than Uber. I noticed that most Uber riders have migrated permanently to Bolt.
Bolt has kolobied many people with discounts and low fares including incorrect fares |

GforGee: He may have done a to and fro trip.
But wait, how and where can you cover a distance of 60km in Lagos in 2hrs ??? It's very possible if one is against traffic. I did something close today from Int'l Airport to Sangotedo. Rider even stopped for like 10mins at Mega Chicken and there was even bad traffic after Mega Chicken to Ajah self But I didn't make excess on the trip, it was rather short of #300 (Taxify as usual). We went through the Lekki toll as insisted by rider

Uzorblaze: . Bro keep up the positive vibe... Can I get your contact details please? I am a newbie and frankly following this thread has been quite discouraging!!! I really felt hope when I saw your comments today and the way you handled 'adversities'. Pls drop your number or email lemme get across. Also I will also love to connect with @dru22... Boss please can I get across to you too? Peace. Today's update. Why should people be discouraged by peoples' complaints here? People 'complaining' are still doing the business you know. If it was totally bad, no one would be here doing it. Saying this, I think we should be sharing positive experiences more to encourage people, we don't know who will benefit from this. The business has picked up for a while now. I am sure nobody will argue with this. Our dashboards are proofs to this. |

olusola2bello: Chief you totally make sense.
Truth is we all have our different goals, approaches and attitudea to the business and that's what determines one's success in the business. I have been reading this thread for a long while even before i joined as a driver driving mg own car. Reading the comments i was already discouraged that it was going to b a bad business venture but as i jad just lost my job i decided to ask more folks outside of nairaland.
I started driving april 2nd and honestly i was suprised. I was expecting to net like 5k but surprisingly i was netting way more than that. ..and i only do uber.
My point is it as bad as some folks say the business is now, it definitely isnt aa bad as the picture that was painted....ofcos u also dont turn a millionaire overnight.
Its a tough hustle, body pains, long hours, good and bad riders, etc but with prayer, diligence and favour.. All will be well. I believe this is what people have been saying. Although it may sound discouraging to many. In your case, you lost your job so you can do it till you find something better. We should always strife for the better even people that work and earn millions monthly want to earn more. Ehailing is not easy however it comes with many positives too just like many other jobs. |

On to another news my people....last week Saturday was so eventful. I took 2 Gboys to Airport in the afternoon. Police stopped us on the way, I tried to escape but just couldn't. Those guys aren't based in Lagos. Police exported them to ATM and collected 50k from the guys they call 'frauds'. They sha allowed us to go as those guys might miss their flight. On the way, the guys were so bitter and pained. One said if I was smart and made them escape, wouldn't I be happy if I was given the 50k instead? I just look. The grand incident was around 11:30pm (same day) when for the first time I got a destination trip on Taxify on my way home. Spoke to rider and he said I should meet him at a filling station (this was Mushin o). I got there and waited for about 5 mins before I saw 2 guys. I initially thought both of them were going and I started thinking about my safety. One was to go though. I started the car and trip, we didn't move up to 50metres before FSARS stopped us. They must have been following the guy and just parked around there hidden. They took the guy in their vehicle as they caught him with a drug he hid in the car as they stopped us. I was asked to drive behind them with one of their officers in my car. I talked and talked, begged and begged, the officer did not let me go until I got to their station o. The officer kept searching my car till we got to their station, he even asked me to alight as he said he wanted to do a thorough search when we arrived. He later didn't do the thorough search but advised me to do it myself as he decided to let me and he convinced other officers that came outside too. Please let us be very careful with night wakas especially around dangerous areas like Mushin. Thank God I was allowed to leave the station on time |

dru23: No need to draw graph.. Under old manager ,I lost money completely 100% , the only car that made money for me was the civic ,the landing cost of that car at the time, if I tell u u no go believe me .. That civic has made his money back for me ,and I just sold that few days for around 400k . The other cars was a total lost ,due to bad oil and manager and drivers etc ...but now so far so good, new drivers, new mechanic.. I had to basically do a 360 .. Things much better now ,by far much better.. Keep in mind my landing cost of my cars.. Have been pretty lucky. For obvious reasons I will not detail my landing cost.. But I will tell have been pretty lucky..... And I clearly see profit margin, my maintenance costs has gone down.. Am not complaining at all You no come advertise here if our people will be interested |

jesusson2020: It's not so rosy sometimes, but is part of the hussle
People join nairaland everyday, I have seen how negative this thread was, even before me joining Uber, I was almost discouraged, and from my experience it's not what people portrayed here is the truth.
Believe in yourself, only you can make it happen. You quoted the WRONG person (he definitely knows more than you do about the business) with the WRONG answer YES. You can't compare what the earning was when Uber started and what it is now. If you were doing Uber then with your positive attitude, you would own at least 2 cars by now. When people share experience here it can at times come across as negative but it is for everyone to learn. Lastly, no one is saying you shouldn't work but don't overwork yourself...Fatigue is a crazy karma. I wish you the best in the ehailing world! |

I didn't know it was voluntary when I registered as a driver in their office last year...they just scammed me with 8k.
