kinzu: Please help a brother out. I have got a 50 year old who wants to join the Uber/Taxify world. He's got valid license and LASDRI and is ready to join as a driver. I have been ghost reading this thread for a long while and I see that you guys are straight shooters. What would be the best path to follow and which would be the best company to go with that can guarantee him some profit at the end of the day. English no too strong so I don't think he'd be able to sit for any written exams. He's been driving for 20 years plus and knows Lagos roads well The best path to follow is the one that leads to life He should just register with either or both. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. No written exams really, it's just a logical test for Uber. I don't know if Taxify does any test now. |

I took photos of it and uploaded on uber because the former (temporary) one has expired, uber said image is blurry that i should upload again. Please has any one here experience such? Do they want me to go back and do a coloured photocopy or something again?do i need to go to greenlight hub to discuss with one of the customer service rep or something..pkease i need possible directions I had a similar experience. Place the colour/original copy (fit it perfectly well) on the signed photocopy. Ensure the signature shows well. Secondly, you're so hell bent on agreeing that Uber favours drivers... If this is same. Then keke riding will favor just the riders too. So its same old shiiiii.
Anyway I wish you luck and big chance of breaking even sir. Abeg what brand of car is this? |

pope191: So from the horizon of your window you have presumed you can give birth to me or know my age, need you know before you ever think of touching a computer, I've been a nairaland member, so! I might as well b ur grandfather. You don't want to comment on this place again? Damn you for whatsoever reason you choose not too, your reasons changed nothing, so spare the details, it is needless and you might as well shut down your nairaland account. I'll keep it peaceful and let your unguided and lack of manner of presentation slide, its a brand new day.
But need you know... I did ask her where she was going to, apart from her voice sounding angelic and stressed on the phone, do I need to ask how many people and if she is going to buy gas or fuel? You sound way to paranoid and pompous for my type. I only took her from silverbird road to 4th round about with an empty cylinder and back from 4th round about to silverbird (Ya! Stuff my happen inbet), i do far distance for myself & family, but do you think it was my day on Sunday? Obviously I won't d*e today, but can't escape that sh*t forever, so why so much rage from your side in the name of advice? I only put that stuff up to encourage, we can be more tolerant and not sell our peace cheaply to riders irrespective of their antics. If you as her now, she is on her right, cos she believe her money is reading and I made her to understanding the waiting time means nothing, I don't have to get mad or have my day ruined because of her. That day made me to brainstorm and think of way to get off stubborn riders that want drivers to wait unnecessarily... I'll simple tell him/her, I'm on surge 1.8 and he/she knows what that mean, we can end and request again while I put my phone on plane mood.
So Bros, try and act mature, you honestly don't sound like one #AgeDoesNotTranslateWisdom Grandpa have vex o. The insult from the guy was not needed. Nobody knows it all, one cannot know every time how a trip would go just from a phone call. One can boot out a rider that is too arrogant with diplomacy or even straight face. It all depends on the situation! |

Sign in and click on profile. You will see "manage documents". Click it to upload your documents.
You will also see "vehicles". Click it and you will see "add vehicle", you can then add your car details.
You will also need to take their test if you haven't. You will also need to take the vehicle to any of their inspection centre for inspection.
If you are still not clear, then you can go to their office at Maryland shopping mall(shoprite). They will assist you more. It think at times people willing to help do not have/forgotten some info (step-by-step). Just see how you helped with the steps, not many, like me, can remember. Nice one! |

jceesquare: YouTube video would help on how it's done. Look for a competent mechanic that has the right tools and knows what he/she is doing for diagnosis and subsequent fix (if suggested). Cost of proper overhaul to proper factory spec might be intimidating though. So keep that in mind mind if anyone tells you overhaul is cheaper than engine replacement. Thanks so much. I will do as advised |

jceesquare: Does the car puff out smoke when you step on the throttle pedal? If it does, then ask your mechanic to do a compression test on each cylinder to know where the culprit is. It's possible you have a worn valve seal, or piston. Get prepared to change or overhaul the engine depending on the outcome of the compression test. As a palliative measure, you can switch to a thicker oil weight while you save up money for the work depending on its severity. If you were using 5W30 oil weight, try switching over to 0w40 or something around that category to reduce the frequent top up. But if you've been using the normal 20W50 that our mechanics use most time and it shorts oil, then you have a bigger issue at hand. Conduct a compression test on each cylinder for proper direction on what to do, and also ask someone to observe the kind of smoke that comes out of tail pipe and how it occurs (all the time, or only short puff on cold start or hard acceleration). It brings out white smoke. Not sure the regular mecs (that i usually use) can do a compression test...maybe you could please explain how it can be done. I use the regular 20W50 mineral oil (Mobil XHP). I went to a Mec that I used a long while ago to check today. He said the seals aren't leaking and advised I change oil to Forte Oil Visco 2000 and wait to see if the situation changes. Thanks much for your post. I would like to get the compression test done regardless of the oil substitute results. |

adsmaster: Today i want to talk about my observations with car owners(partners)......from interaction with a fee since joining the business these is what i observered
1...they seem to forget that they are partners with the drivers(the owners are limited partners while the drivers are general partners) the limited partners should read up what partnership is all about and re-adjust there mindset- which will lead to number 2 below
2...they come into the game with employer employee philosophy: they address the drivers like they are there staff, hence they call you anytime and expect you to answer, come to see them...you know "the yes sir master sir sydrome"
3...from the get go they are already suspicious, feeling itchee. Here i dont blame them its as a result of the country we find ourself...but what is required of them is to create systems that handle or tackles that....
will contd have a request Nwabetter: Bro please does it cost to get account activated at uber office? Is that your comment to his post I understand that is what concerns you ATM |

mejai: Take ur car to a pit, get a good torchlight and view underneath ur engine. Take extra eye( mechanic or owner of pit) and view it. U might see d culprit.
Check some seals... Thanks bro. I planned getting it checked by a mechanic tomorrow. One mec told me told me it isn't leaking and cos the car has white smoke, I will have to do some repairs (I can't rem what repairs at the moment). I will check for leaks again as advised. God bless |
