A40:You have obviously forgotten those games. You conceded 2 goals from set pieces after losing 1-0 first leg away where you dominated. It is all history now but if Pep had lost the same game today you would have blamed him and not Javi Martinez. As per City, they were a club on decline with aging players in key positions. They will learn his tactics and he will sign fresher players in those positions and then he would be fully judged. Remember Ranieri was fired after 1 successful season and Ancelotti suffered same in CFC. So we would judge his work after his contract elapses. PS: I like Carlo Ancelotti, but I have maintained that there is only so much you can do if your players make costly mistakes. |
A40:LOL. Did Pep ask Bayern to concede 2 corner kicks against Madrid? Did he ask the wall to jump for CR7s free kick? Did he ask Muller to miss the penalty against ATM? Did he ask Boateng to fall when marking Messi? These things happen that is the point. |
PietroRico:In hindsight, you are right but 3 years ago €100k per week was on the high especially in Germany. |
PietroRico:He left because of money. Bayern refused to pay him as much as he wanted but they wanted to keep him. |
As for Bayern they missed the runs and positioning of Lewa. Even when the midfield was being dominated by Bayern, Ribery could not do much on the wings as he was neutered by Bale and Carvahal. On the other flank, Robben tried all he could but Ronaldo was pulling back to help Marcelo mark him and Lahm. I know the tie is not over but Bayern will need a red card from Madrid in the 2nd leg to score all the goals they will need as Madrid will score at Bernabeau too. |
Toni Kroos was the best player on the pitch by miles. Followed by Modric in the 2nd half. Marcelo was decent too but only in defense, he didn't contribute meaningfully going forward. Benzema was absolutely useless and he should have come off earlier for Morata. All those Ballon d'or chants for Ronaldo are premature but great game by him. |
A40:Yea, Pep beat them 2-1 and lost 1-0 too. The point is, ATM beating Barca is not only as a result of Pep being there. They can beat even a Carlo Ancelloti led Bayern. |
Checked the stats for OKC after the Wolves game and I am seeing a handful of players with 8+ rebounds. And there I was thinking nobody could rebound the ball enough as RW was so aggresive and passionate. |
SmooshCHN1:If they don't get swept by Harden and his Rockets. To start with, RWs heroics will be harder in the P/Os. They can not leave him to be racking 16 rebounds while 7ft Adams will have only 4. Teams will crush them on the boards and still slow them down. He would not have access to 30 shots per game and if he does, his team's chance of losing will double. Now add the fury that Harden will be housing knowing that RW will pip him to the MVP title. He would want to use the first round to make a statement (even if it won't factor in the MVP vote). Both stars will get less FTs (they average 10 per game) and the tide will favor the more intelligent and better shooting player. I think Harden just about edges it. My prediction? 4-1 Rockets win. |
A40:But Atletico also beat you this season and topped the group you were in, no? |
Like chill. ![]() |
sapiosexual1:I agree with this but amun60/4 (maths evaluated and alphabets permutated) will beg to differ and we cannot call it out because...World peace. |
Decale:You are trying too hard. This argument can go either ways. If the Rockets are better offensively then OKC are better defensively. So they could have done more to make their team at least 4th or 5th like the Jazz. Nene and Capella are better than Adams and Kanter? Ariza and Anderson will defend who? Oladipo is far better than Gordon. It is not even close. I could go on and on. |
Donlittle:Just like earlier in the season when the All-star ish was being discussed, I was not of the opinion that Russell did not deserve it, I was only explaining how he wasn't "cheated" when he did not start. Again I am not saying he is not in the MVP conversation at all but that I believe James Harden is more deserving. RW is sharing the ball more than he used to? 100% yes. Offensively he is so efficient etc etc. But Harden is doing the same for his team. He is the first NBA player ever to have 2000+ points and 2000+ assists in a season. Harden makes his game simple so it appears it is less appreciated. The best way for one to understand how great Harden has been even in the assist dept is to realize that he is assisting more than Rondo did last season with Sacramento (when he was evidently sacrificing his and his team's offense just to rack up assists). Russell is on 32/10.4/10.7 and that is otherworldly but Harden is not far behind with 29/11/8. I remember 2006 or so when Kobe averaged 37 PPG and placed his team in 4th but Nash won the MVP with 19/12 due to a higher seeding. The funny thing is I don't even like Harden. But this will be a 3rd year straight where he is going to finish 2nd in the MVP race. In 14/15 he had better stats than Curry but they said Curry's team achieved more and that he elevated their game so they voted him. In 15/16 Harden lost because Curry played like an Alien and his team won 73 games. This season Harden will not get it because (unlike 14/15) he is playing with "better players" (which did not matter when Curry won in 14/15). I actually want Harden to win it out of pity. Left alone, I would have wanted Isaiah Thomas to win it if the Celts finish top but people barely mention his name. |

SmooshCHN1:It is because we have beat Clippers too often that I don't want them. Forget Jazz, they were playing out of their minds today and Kerr was afraid they would injure his starters. If that game was a do or die, they would not have won shii. On the other hand, the Clippers will try to go dirty just to avoid embarrassment and the game could turn to a slugfest. The Celtics are only undermanned offensively but they are better than the other teams you mentioned. Raptors because of Lowry's injury and Wizards are puny mentally. I have seen that they are a team that would rather whine than do the business and they care so much about how they are perceived even when losing. They also do not want to be held responsible for their own contributions as it were. That would never take them far. |
I really wish Jazz got that home court against Clippers today but sadly, Clippers just mauled the Rockets and they would most likely beat Sacramento in the last game. I would have preferred to play Jazz in the 2nd round than Clippers. |
Donlittle:The "pundits" said he would still win more than 50 games without KD and Ibaka. They are the same pundits now that will turn around and give him MVP for his team winning less than that. As per who will shoot the ball? It may shock you to know but Oladipo actually shoots the ball better than RW. And RW is as bad as Kanter defensively. The argument is not even about ESPN rating but about the false narrative about Harden having better players. I don't even like Harden like that but I think he did more to elevate his team and mates than RW. In another season, it would have been right to give a 6th-seeded superstar playing out of his mind to "help his team" but not in a season where someone else has just about the same stats with him and is actually 3 seeds better. And if co-MVP was on the line, that might work but it is not. Their body language (the voting media) appears like they would give it to RW. |
sapiosexual1:Defense Lawyer: "Prosecutor, you need to stop mentioning that you found the accused's DNA on the victim. What if the wind somehow moved DNA from the accused to the home of the murder victim that he has never met? What would you say? These things are unpredictable some may even say volatile" Prosecutor: ![]() |
Donlittle:The media will give it to him but all that losing 2 best players talk is wishy-washy. His team is actually -5 in the W column from what was projected season-beginning while Harden's team is a hefty +13.5. See how ESPN rated both teams' players at the start of the season: Russell 5th Steven Adams 36th Oladipo 48th Kanter 80th Gibson 96th Mcdermott 190th Harden 8th Ariza 99th Anderson 89th Gordon 86th Beverly 160th Capella 92th Lou Williams 198th Harden does not have better players. I am reading articles by pundits all laughing at Rockets' trades and saying they would be lucky to get 8th seed. Now they are better because D'Antoni's system is working for them. Adams is a shadow of the player he was last season and I wonder why. Russell literally has had like 1000 shots more than the next man in OKC and has shot the ball 400 times more than Harden. They are both TO-vendors even though Harden leads there. It may come as a shock but Harden actually has Pundits are already going the RW way which is pathetic because OKC will not win 50 games. I feel for James Harden but it is what it is. |
Decale:Curry is there as evidence that you are sooooo unbiased. I didn't even criticize WB for beating the Nuggets. I simply stated how one other person's team did not need to be down in order to win dramatically but hypemen will not see it because...TD. |
SIRcumalot:You funny die I swearigad. Fellow Cavaliers ba wo? |
Decale:You win Mr "Steph-Curry-is-having-a-Kemba-Walker-peak-season". I should have celebrated TD even if he would have still played well had he got 50points 9Rebounds and 10assists but I should not celebrate Harden whose team are on course to win 15 more games than anyone projected they would (on 13.5 as I type this)? I dey observe you with a pin-hole camera. |
SIRcumalot:You read that thrash, and instead of calling it out you resigned by saying you did not watch the game Oga? I do not argue that the refs really fluffed it in the 4th Q and OT, but the narrative that Lebron dribbled himself into violation or that Cavs willfully tossed the game is the largest amount of garbage ever put together. It is only on per with the hyper-cockamamie that since Melo has not won a ring, KD does not deserve one. |
sapiosexual1:You guys love myths. WB is 6'3. OKC are great in transition, yes but they are third in the ranking. 2 other teams do it better than them without their PGs hustling for rebounds. I would not tire to say it: if Russell only had double doubles his team would have won the same amount of games. So what is the fuss about the TD if not for hype? |
All I have to say is, Mou has won 2 trophies- EFL and Community shield and that is great. But Wenger won back to back FA Cups and 2 Community shields (beating City and Mou's CFC) and that's a failure when it could have been 4 trophies? United fans. The delusion is real. ![]() |
SmooshCHN:When he can run out during the fast break and catch the pass for an easy deuce. Next thing you would see now is stats about how Westbrook is faster than a pass. He is number 1 in uncontested rebounds and 64 in contested rebounds. Even when he does not get 10+ rebounds in a game his team still wins as much as long as he gets a double double. That's why I insist those triple doubles are overrated. His team would have won the same number of games with his double double as with his TDs. |
Harden just had 35/11/15 but it won't count because he did not fight in the 4th quarter to help his team win by 1 point. He was busy blowing out Sacramento in the first quarter. |
sapiosexual1:Pundits ![]() I agreed with Nash in terms of his assessment of both players. I don't believe he selected who the MVP will be. I did not discard Oscar's assessment either. Only that his choice of MVP was questionable due to the reason he proferred. Reason being TD. |
If we did not sweep OKC this season, it would have been that we hated him. If we did not beat OKC last season, it would have been that we are still reeling from the loss of last year. If I had not made my arguments before he said "who is he?" It would have been because he disparaged Curry. If Curry did not outplay him on so many occasions again, it would have been about Curry. It is not about Curry. Can Westbrook play? Very well yes. I would even say he is better than Kyrie (not just because of this season). Is Westbrook having an incredible season? Yes he is. One of the best individual performances ever. Would OKC tank without him? Without a doubt. He is easily their best player. Are the TDs overrated? Emphatically yes in the context of an MVP conversation. I asked a question but almost every post liker turned Stevie Wonder. If he had 32PPG 9.99APG 9.99RPG and kept the same winning record, would have been in this MVP talk? Yes, but way down the pecking order or atleast with some daylight between him and Harden. 9.99APG & RPG is not that significantly discriminate from 10.4 and 10.7 except in the mouths of hype-men. Personal opinions are great when it comes to a forum but the ball travels faster than any playmaker and we can accept that as a fact. So a pacy playmaker could instead run out on a fastbreak and receive the pass from his C or PF for an easy lay-up. Except ofcourse he wants to rack up rebounding numbers ![]() Speaking of Harden and WB; Before the season began in earnest, experts came up with their list. Most bloggers and pundits expected OKC to sit higher than Rockets. I would even go as far as saying 5 out of 6 pundits did so. And the one that placed Houston higher only had them as 5th and OKC as 6th. All of a sudden, they are 3rd and it becomes because Harden's teammates are better - fact people did not consider when the season began. So convenient. Houston's bench this, Rocket's bench that, fine. Put WB in Houston and they will lose more games. He had Durant and Ibaka and OKC were not winning 60+ games. He will reduce everyone's shooting number, score a billion more points and lose a couple close games. The news media will say his players are letting him down and that if he played with X and Y he would have done this and that. On the flipside, Harden may garner the same Ws or better than WB achieved in OKC but he will do it with Kanter, Adams and Oladipo having better PPGs and playing better. Making your team and teammates better is another definition of being an MVP. Doubt me? Find out where ESPN/NBA ranked Oladipo and Adams when the season began then find out where Gordon and co where ranked. I swear, no Rockets player bar Harden was top 80 but 2 OKC players made top 50. Harden made his teammates better. Since you have mentioned some numbers maybe I should throw some out there as well. Russell's true shooting percentage is garbage. He is at 55% compared to other elite players like KD 65% Curry 62% Bron 61.9% and Harden 61.3%. Garbage because the league average is at 54% and Russell's % puts him with scrubs. I think he is tied at 161 in the league. 79% of the time WB gets a TD his team wins. No kidding? GSW are like 19-2 when Curry scores 40 points. The point is, it means nothing to say that a team wins significantly more when the best player plays well - It is a given. I checked Harden's TDs all 20 or so of them. The record is 15-5. So yea, his team wins 75% of the games he gets TDs in. We can toggle with WBs stats a bit. Take away his 10+ rebounding games and his team is 37-12 when he has a double double (Points & assists). That's 76% win ratio only 3% shy of the TD win percentage which shows TDs are OVERRATED. BTW, Harden has 63 double doubles this season. There are so many myths to dispel but this post will be too darn long: - Houston best shooting team? Myth. They have the most 3s but OKCs 3pt% is slightly higher than Houston's (34.7% to 34.3%). -Rockets shot lights out when Harden was hurt? Myth. They had 47% FG to Phoenix' 42%. 3 ball? 36.8% on 14-38 to Phoenix' 8-34. Houston won by 7 (123-116). Not lights out if you would agree. - WB is the clutchest player? Maybe it is because he has been in that situation more often than not so it follows that he would have racked up stats then. His True shooting % in the clutch is like 0.003% better than Harden's (0.564 to 0.561). The king of Akron has better true shooting % than both of them. Is he also the clutchest player in the league? I can inundate this place with other stats that work against WB but it will be unnecessary as he has been incredible this season but his TDs are a tad overrated. Simple. |
That is the point I was trying to make. Just reduce Russell's APG and RPG to just under 10 and all of a sudden Harden would have been the clear MVP. This shows that TDs are a tad overrated. |

you had 82 games Now it's playoffs Westbrook and Oladipo hasn't even clicked to their full potential, OKC hasn't found any other way asides Westbrook and he doesn't seem to have a plan.. Since he's been very clutch, I hope he get more chances like that this playoffs maybe he can get to plau GSW in conference finals just to be schooled by his Father KD
