Spy360: I respect the following coaches...
Wenger, Pocchentino, Ranieri, Flores, Howe, Martinez, even Garde , others are Allegri, Conte, Tuchel, Simeone, Sarri etc
I do not respect Mourinho, Enrique, Mancini, Guardiola, etc. My lack of respect is because they are not judged on the same scale as others. They are hyped.
Take for example Mourinho, just one challenge he faced at Chelsea, the team comes crashing.
I think LvG is underated recently, mainly due to his pride. He comes accross as too arrogant. Besides which I respect him as a good manager.
My sentiment with Wenger apart, he is good because he plays good football and maintains his club at a top level position consistently even with average players. Give him kids, he will still give you good soccer and finish in the top 4. That is without doubt.
Pocchentino has consistently been remarkable bringing up young players. His work with Southampton and now with Tottenham earns him my respect.
Ranieri, may be he has stopped tinkering. He needs to show consistency too.
Guardiola they say is the best tactically but can he do it without breaking bank? I will respect him after I see him when he joins Man City next season. But he should manage what he has got, not that he will rush to sign Neymar and Pogba. If given the same squad Pelligrini has got, I doubt if he will do better. On that basis I think he may be overrated. What Bank did Pep break in his first season at Barca? I put it to you that you will shift the goal post again next season if he wins the league easily with City and gets to the semis of the UCL but is beaten by Bayern. I bet you'd say City already had a great team and that if Pep was good he should have not lost to Bayern and what not. It's this vacillating manner of ranking managers that just keeps AFC wallowing in mediocrity. Does Ozil alone not cost more than the entire Leicester team? So why is great Arsene not topping that league since anyone can win anything with great and expensive players? |

Spy360: My point is that those we call 'big coaches' because they win titles in most cases succeed because of the MATERIALS available to them.
Take for example Luis Enrique, he just won best manager after leading Barca to six titles or so last season. But many forget that his first coaching job was at Roma and he almost got them relegated before he was sacked. His second job was at Celta Vigo, the same thing happened. Suddenly he joins Barca and he has become best manager.
Where is Frank Rijkaard today?
If tomorrow Gary Neuville joins Madrid and wins Copa they tell us he is top manager.
For me a true test of a manager's acumen is how effective he manages within his limited resources. You use Messi, Neymar and Suarez to win a league and think you are a classical manager. Nonsense.
Give me Barca, all I need to do is give the boys ice cream, and they will win me six trophies. Go and give CR7, Bale and Benzema ice cream so they can win a treble already. I cannot tire to keep sticking it to you overzealous praise-givers. Which manager will ever be good enough? If Pep had won a treble with Bayern his first season you'd have said the same things: he is overhyped, the Bayern squad was already good. Jupp already did it. I'd give them ice cream and la di da. Now that he hasn't won the same treble he is now overrated. Shay Wenger that didn't win a UCL with his unbeaten team is overrated too or nah? |

manny4life: Speaking on 1.9 million voters, did you hear the question? Or are you quick to jump into conclusion. Watch from 6:07, the lady chanted "Vote for Change" and that's why he said, "Yes we voted, but did we really vote"? My interpretation: how can you chant "Vote for Change", yet Kano doesn't seem to have the same mantra of change, so where's the disconnect.
I did not hear about Buhari's certificate come up (I only watched Part 2 and 3 on YouTube), perhaps you can post the clip and I will watch it. Again, I did not watch the part whether anyone won or lost, the part I watched was Part 2 and three. This could have been Part 1, but then again I don't know.
Lmao... You mean the same "tactical" move in which GEJ wanted to remove subsidy is the same tactic employed by Buhari? Haha, the govt lacks clear "ECONOMIC" direction - Mr. Onov. Since I started following Nigerian Politics, I have never heard of a missing or retracted budget. I have never heard a budget presented 4 months after the deadline... Let's be real here, Buhari's critics are criticising him based on what they've seen.
I agree the election is over, but it doesn't seem like it's over for PMB and his team, it's full of accusation, it started from Saraki to GEJ to Dasuki to Metuh and the list is endless, even Jesus Christ was accused. Several months later after being sworn in, we don't have a "CLEAR ECONOMIC direction on where we are let alone where we're going. Tell me, how are we supposed to dig ourselves out of this mess? The sooner this administration seats up and get to work, the better. You are sounding as emotive as Onovo, makes me suspect you hail from the same ethnicity as him (which seems to be the basis of support most politicians get). 1. The question he asked about 1.9M votes is blanket and misleading. First, he assumes there were no voided votes but that's not what the figures posted by INEC claims. Second, he uses Kano as an example but not Rivers state or Akwa-Ibom that were FAR too glaring and nationally recognised as marred with rigging. Third, he makes a case for underage voters but seems to imply it is for APC when no evidence exists to support such a stance. And to think of the fact that he got there by implying that elections didn't hold at all and as such PMB has a fake mandate. Maupe was right by saying we voted change. She is right because the declared WINNER of the election ran on a campaign mantra that screamed CHANGE. She wasn't being partisan. 2. That you claim you didn't hear PMBs cert issue come up shows you are towing the same line of incredulity that Onovo tried to play when he was called out for implying that he didn't believe in the judiciary. Onovo alluded to it by saying it would've been a WASTE if he had gone to the courts to question the elections. This simply means he doesn't believe in the courts AKA He doesn't believe in the judiciary. The PMB cert issue was implied furtively when he said Mike Ozekhome went to court to challenge the validity of PMBs candidacy. Manny4life, incase you do not know, Mike Ozekhome went to court on behalf of PDP to argue that PMB had no cert and should be rendered invalid as far as being the presidential candidate for APC. So yes, that was how Onovo alluded to it. 3. The part of a budget being presented 4 months and you not having heard of it calls for concern as to whether you know about Nigeria or if you just type willy nilly. I cannot remember more than twice in GEJs 6 years that his budget (that he never presented to the NA BTW) wasn't months late. Stop playing politics and trying to feign your concern for Nigeria. You are still bitter that GEJ lost the elections. The constant talk about economic direction is becoming hackneyed and played out. Even mentioning Dasuki and Metuh already shows where you stand- oblivious of reality and bitter. |

Pep beat Mou 3-1 at Santiago and lost 2-1 at Nou Camp his last season. The season Pep lost 1-0 to Mou at La Copa Del Rey was Mou's first season in Madrid. That was the game that 2 clear goals by Messi and Pedro were ruled out for offside (wrongly) and Ronaldo scored a header deep into Over time. This thing is easy. The agent should tell his grandfather to coach Real Madrid. They have an expensive squad filled with exceptional players like CR7, Bale, Rodriguez and Benzema to mention a few. They have never won a treble in their history despite all the monies spent in assembling expensive squads.
Pep is a fraud and winning the UCL twice is very easy. Bayern were winning it every year without him so since he hasn't won it with them he is a failure. Barca were winning it year in year out without him as well. Mou has 10UCLs to his name. Fergie has 50.

Kenobus: There is so much ignorance out there! Subsidy hasn't been removed. Nigerians are now paying the Govt subsidy. Subsidy is now in negative. This is absurd! If subsidy is removed fully, the product would be selling around N90 per litre because the Govt would no longer determines the profit level of the marketers. That is deregulation. Buhari doesn't know what he is doing. The people you are talking about are so much smarter than you, you should drop whatever degrees you have or better still give it to them. If govt was to completely deregulate the market, the product will sell for more than 100N and there is nothing you or the govt will be able to do about it. What this govt aims to do, is to skillfully regulate the market on the premise that they know crude prices will not improve any time soon. With that in mind, the only drawback will be if the crude oil price skyrockets because it will mean the govt has to resume the cost difference between how much the marketers get the product and how much it will be fiscally feasible to sell it in Nigeria AKA Subsidy. |
Politics › Re: FG Officially Removes Subsidy - African Spotlight by Eruditor: 9:01am On Jan 03, 2016 |
anonimi: Firstly, to be taken serious, please show where the federal government under Jonathan was proposing N149 for a product that was to be DEREGULATED completely as agreed with 36 governors.
Secondly, abeg how much was crude oil in January 2012? How much is it now Thanks. LOL. You think you have seen someone you want to bamboozle with lies. Firstly, the subsidy GEJs govt claimed they were paying was to the tune of 75N per litre when the product was being sold at 65N which meant that the real price should have been 140N. When they proposed a subsidy removal it meant that the price at the pumps in Nigerian Filling stations would have been 140N minimum and this was effected first week of January 2012. The difference between what GEJ proposed and what is happening now is that PMB didn't remove the subsidy. He used a template to decide what the price of PMS should be, considering the cost of crude and the result showed it would be in the region of equal to or less than what we currently pay so they have announced it as the new price pending if crude prices rise again. |

Whoscored also already told us their style of play. 2011/2012, RVP was playing for Arsenal, so I don't get it. On dribbles, Rooney once done 2.3 per game, something RVP never got close to.
I also have addressed the issue of RVP not winning the league for us in 2012/2013 with stats and facts, if you didn't join the debate then forget it. Am I going to be debating with new people everyday on same issues? Whoscored computer generated style of play has already settled this issue sef.

However, whoscored had settled it all. I haven't time to go through this anymore. Crystallized hogwash. 1. I assure you more midfielders will have this attribute more than strikers. Hahahaha, the very 2011/2012 stats say RVP completed more dribbles than Rooney. Politics › Re: 2016 Budget: A Budget Of Change Or A Budget Of Burden? by Eruditor: 6:34pm On Dec 24, 2015 |
TonyeBarcanista: Earlier today(Tuesday) President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2016 budget before the joint session of the National Assembly. The budget he tagged "Budget of Change". While commending President Buhari for personally presenting the budget, it is important to ask the kind of change that the budget reflect.
What Is The Rationale Behind $38 Oil Benchmark? In the budget, the government pegged oil benchmark at $38 per barrel. The problem here is that since the beginning of the second half of 2014, crude oil price has been on a free fall. In December 2014, it stood at $61 per barrel. As at today, the price of crude oil has dropped to $36 per barrel. Note that the price of crude as at june 2014 was $117 per barrel. With Iran poised to resume supply in 2016, Russia and USA entering the market, it means that the price of the product may go lower in 2016. What then is the rationale behind pegging the price of crude at $38 per barrel for 2016 budget? How will Nigeria meet up with its attendant deficit in revenue?
2. According to the 2016 Budget, Nigeria's projected revenue for 2016 is N3.86 trillion and deficit of N2.22 trillion with oil benchmark at $38 dollar per barrel. The government dedicated N1.8 trillion ie 30% set aside for capital expenditure, and projected to incur loan of N1.84 trillion.
The above means that the government plan to incur loan to finance capital project and use the leftover for recurrent expenditure. Which country in the world can survive on such arrangement? Considering that oil price is sinking deeper, it means even the projected revenue may not be met and government could be forced to take more loans to meet up the deficit. Where is the wisdom here?
More Debt? As at June 30, 2015 the former permanent secretary of the finance ministry put the debt owed by the FG alone at N8.396 trillion and $7.74 (N1.4trillion) for local and external debt respectively. With the government proposing to borrow another N1.84trillion to finance 2016 budget, this will mean more money to finance these huge debts. Considering that we will likely borrow more due to oil decline, I don't think there is any wisdom in this. Are we going back to pre-1999?
Will Government Ever Learn? When the last administration presented the 2015 budget, they pegged crude oil price at $65 per barrel. As at time of presenting the budget, the crude oil price stood at $61 per barrel. The effect was what we witnessed in 2015 where the government had to resort to borrowing because they couldn't meet revenue expectation. President Buhari is now following the same route. Pegging crude oil price at $38 per barrel when the price at present is lower. That means there will be increased borrowing should the crude oil price fail to rise at the benchmark.
I believe Nigeria should learn from Greece and not go down same lane. Already, we have serious problem of depleting customers for our major export(oil) and also we face challenge of competing with more entrants(USA, Russia and Iran) in the market. Government budget should reflect on the reality and not hinged on political correctness. Honestly, I see no positive change in this budget, all I see is burden on Nigerians.
May God Bless Nigeria 1. Angola pegged theirs at 41$ whilst Mozambique did theirs at 45$ benchmark. They know something you don't. 2. Nigerian crude is not sold at the price of brent. Nigerian crude is always at a premium. So always factor in 4 or 5$ to the price of brent when dealing with Nigerian crude. In other words, even if brent was 38$/bbl, we would be selling ours at 42/43$/bbl. So a 38$/bbl benchmark is not amiss. |

Of course we were open to an extension and made sure he lacked nothing. Even took his side at the expense of our longstanding physio. Has he repaid that? Not quite. Though we are indifferent because bigger managers have coached Bayern
Mandzukic did well at Atleti. He suffered injuries but definitely didn't flop. I have told you before a guy like Mandzukic needs service to thrive. He is an old school #9. Both seasons at Bayern he netted over 20goals each. Mandzu is nothing like Gallas or Balotelli. This is a serious exaggeration! How come he had no issues with Jupp?
Underwhelming but they beat you the defending champions convincingly despite going a man down and two goals down just 20mins into the game. Ok!!! At the start of the 2011/2012 season show me who would predict Bayern getting to a CL Final. Losing at home would always sting a bit more but we were unlucky not outclassed and made to look incompetent like we did under Pep. We had never lost at home to Madrid, I would always hold that against Pep The core of that team went on to win the WC that summer proving they were not the problem but Pep's tactics were
Dortmund lost 3-2 not 3-0. Don't deliberately misrepresent facts. And no disrespect to Atleti or Dortmund but we are superior to both teams. Jupp's teams were also possesion based, infact Madrid would have been the ones needing to counter. The difference being we would not see those crazy highlines and a complete disregard of defensive duties. We also saw this same Messi tamed by a Boateng led defence that was not why we lost the tie 1. Sammer said Pep told them he was leaving then they announced a replacement. They didn't surprise him with the announcement. 2. I didnt say he flopped at ATM. I said he didn't set the team on fire. Griezmann did and is still doing. b. Comparing Mandzu to Gallas and Balo is a compliment to him. It means he has talent but bad attitude. Mandzukic's best goal scoring season is still under Pep, you do realize that? c. Asking why he had "no issues" with Jupp is like me asking why Simeone let him go even after "not flopping". 3. CFC were underwhelming that season. Any other thing is argumentative (I will put a period here) 4. Yes, Bayern had never lost to RM ahome but Carlo had never lost to Bayern in his history too. So when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object, something will give. The way to spin these conspiratory statistics can go in many directions 5. Dortmund lost 3-0 first leg. That's what I meant and that's why I went on to say winning one of the legs is consolatory if you get knocked out. It is like AFC saying they beat your team 2-0 at Munchen and that the aggregate was only 3-3. |
Politics › Re: What The NNPC And The FG Would Never Tell You About The Kaduna Refinery by Eruditor: 2:02pm On Dec 22, 2015 |
NavierStokes: You wouldn't be writing what you wrote here if you had any clue to what's at stake. It is common knowledge that at the moment companies are efficiently allocating their scarce resources to the most promising projects, all are working on the strategy of increasing production volumes and cutting down on exploration. Is there any rationale for an NNPC that is grappling with difficulties in paying cash calls and putting on hold several oil projects across the country that could have added barrels for us, going ahead to invest billions in desert exploration at this time? Increasing reserves is a good idea but all well run corporations around the world are giving less priority to that at the moment considering the harsh realities in the industry. Also talking about refining, which do you think is easier to refine our Bonny light crude which had been the darling of the international or a venezuelan orinoco grade crude that is more difficult to refine and has been avoided by buyers in the market. Please don't mention me again if you can not put your arguments without referring to mine as "nonsense" we must not be of the same views, but I represent the views of experts in this industry. ExxonMobil is currently at the Chad making the same explorations for hydrocarbons to up their production volumes. Such projects did not just start off on the back of the dwindling oil prices but have been ongoing especially in the days of many. NNPC will not be termed inane for doing similar even when we realise that the NE part of Nigeria shares a border with Chad. The significance of doing that is because the price of crude will not forever stay down and the need for it will continually be on an exponential rise in the next 50 to 100 years. So if I have that type of knowledge, I won't abandon such viable areas like the NE when I know it could pay off handsomely in future. That's how to think long term. Sure, some companies shed off various arms of their corporate structure and plans simply because the resources to be garnered from such plans was either less than the investment needed or that the concomitant challenges attributed with such an asset, makes the assets holistically non-profitable. For instance, Shell divested most of their onshore assets in Nigeria, but they are still very much into exploring deep offshore locations, aiming to produce more Hydrocarbons that will meet future energy demands. Don't compare it to areas like shale oil and tar sands in Canada that whose E and P is very capital intensive but appeared viable when oil prices were above 120$. Now that they have dropped to below 40$ it just behooved the IOCs to abandon such projects. It is not the same situation with Nigeria. As for our Darling Bonny light, hope you know it is always sold at a premium to brent and as such is more expensive. Hope you know that in the light of falling crude prices most major energy consumers have preferred to buy the cheaper, heavier crude and have abandoned our "darling crude". Hope you know China (which used to be our major client) has decided to purchase Angola's heavy crude. Hope you also know that most countries have refineries whose functions depends heavily on heavy crude, so it boggles the mind for you to think that Venezuelan crude is being avoided. Just have this at the back of your mind when you claim experts share similar views with you because I believe I am not passing to you any views that many experts, including the GMD of NNPC, don't share. I apologise for calling your views nonsense all the same. |
