Religion / Re: Power To Forgive Sin: Is Pst Chris Agreeing With The Catholics? by esere826: 12:20pm On Apr 05, 2016
Yes, "protestants" generally disagree that man cannot forgive sins. However, I disagree. Like you rightly pointed out, Christ himself gave us the ability to do so.

I guess the challenge is when a few christians try to corner this privilege. If you've got Christ, then even you can forgive the sins of others. Its not a complex religious process. Say you go preaching to someone, and the person wants to receive Christ but is not sure. You simple forgive his sins and welcome him to Christ by his confession.

OLAADEGBU:
What does the Bible mean when it says "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God'"? Is atheism foolish? Are all atheists fools?
It wasn't talking about aetheists. I doubt if there were significant number of atheist in biblical days.
David was talking about a ruling elite who very likely, professed God with their mouths but in their hearts had contemplated that either God does not exist, or if gods do exist, then they did not interfere to bring judgement on man if they act wickedly.

This mindset emboldened these elites to act wickedly in their rulership, and even infect the people with such wicked behaviour, hence God could not find anyone who was a seeker.

Despite that both big man and small man were acting corruptly, God took side with the small men, and accused the big men of being the one causing the problems.

Its very much like Nigeria. The masses became corrupt because the elites devoured them in wickedness

NOI is a money manager, not a freedom fighter. She will only make the best out of a bad decision. Under GEJ, who had no balls, the best she could do was to ensure that the right boxes were ticked while sharks both in party and in opposition swarmed around her with no one to fend them off.

Don't be surprised if she actually has a well articulated financial plan than cancels out the effect of the depletion of our foreign reserves during her time

my apologies if I got it wrong. I wasn't so sure of the exact foreign financial portfolio hence I qualified it as "things".
However, this doesn't remove from the fact that a number of governors had no thoughts for the future and were only interested in the NOW. These set governors still persist in our polity either as apc or pdp.

By the way, you will be no less a man if you start your explanations without an aggressive display of uncouthness.

Why not develop your artistic talent by studying under a renowned master of tie & dye batik to be a textile designer etc
he probably could also develop this skill informally.

I remember when i tried hard to learn tailoring during my university days (not hard enough sha)
but the tailors dey do me somehow

Its a skill I would now have found useful for assembling clothes that fit my body shape perfectly instead of all these mass produced clothes
and maybe even sell some to guys as big as I am.

So is taking another man's life a sin? Taking another man's life. Is different from murder. You may take life. In battle or in execution or by accident.

Evey know sin is clearly spelt out in the Bible
I'm not really concerned about the sin vs no-sin part

the point that i tried to make was that this your logic is shaky: if masturbation for health aint sin, then masturbation for recreation aint sin either.
Perhaps, you could use some other logic to buttress your point, but definitely not that one. Anyone with a little intellect will tear it down easily

I'll tell you a true story. A building collapsed and mum and baby daughter were trapped for days and thirsty. The mum slit her wrist and gave her blood to the child to drink.
If this is to be argued in a theological court, won't it be absurd to build logic around the act rather than the intent?
Religion / Re: Did Joseph Prince Really Say This? by esere826: 11:20pm On Mar 09, 2016
Still on that. I think intent is the key.
Religion / Re: Did Joseph Prince Really Say This? by esere826: 11:17pm On Mar 09, 2016
^^ not joining in the debate, but I,m not sure of this logic.
Its like saying that if executing a man or man slaughtervis not a sin, then murdering is no sin.
In all cases, one takes another's life.

Don't be quick to say that the bible refers to murder. Although translators try to distinguish this and it can actually be inferred from reading the bible, however, from my studies, the actual original word used doesnt have that much of a distinction

Politics / Re: Why Is Lagos Erecting Iron Fence Between The Railway Track? by esere826: 10:01pm On Feb 17, 2016
Apart from safety reasons, such an infrastructure can actually be tied to direct job creation. So it is not necessarily a waste of money, especially if all materials are manufactured in Nigeria.

However, with regards to vandalism, the government could probably be more innovative. For example, creating a mini moat that separates the train tracks from pedestrians, or maybe laying sharp edged stones on each side of the track to discourage pedestrians from crossing.

All they need do is contact me for ideas

It's obvious you know the English language but you are not well versed in the art of interpretation or suggestive criticism! When someone issues a statement like this:

It shows the person has a preformed idea about his or her audience and this preformed sentiment allowed him to write in a condescending tone. If only he knew that the person he was replying was not only abroad but doing quite well, I'm absolutely sure he would have revised the statement!

someone said something quite polite as this

Billygee2u:

you are being logical.
have you traveled to abroad before?
my humble advice to you and others in Africa who are nursing the idea to leave leave your wives to go abroad for greener pasture is ,better forget the idea and use the money to engage in one legitimate business and God who says he that findeth a wife findeth good thing and obtain favor from the Lord, will surely bless your hustle.
God made them to be one and not two by separation.
what God join together, let no one put asunder.

and then you went ahead to respond with a fight like this:

abbey621:

I've been living in Atlanta since 2010 so spare me the lecture! My father came to the USA in the 1980s living behind my mom and 2 children. Before he left 9ja, we were all living in a face me and face you house struggling to survive, he just lost his job with NEPA and things were very difficult, imagine what would have happened if he had refused to use his Oluwole visa and chose to stay back in Nigeria? Yes, he suffered a great deal abroad including marrying an obese woman just to get his papers but it all worked out in the end. It took 6 to 7 years for him to fully get himself and in the 10th year he brought my mom to the USA. Looking at their net worth today, I would say they are valued at over 1/2 a billion naira collectively and all was through hard work. My brother and I had to live without both parents for some time but in the end, we are all successful living life to the fullest. What would have happened if dad chose comfort instead of hustling? Be careful how you to talk to people on the internet, some people have been through more than you can ever imagine!

umhhhh
maybe i dont understand English anymore
but if someone asks me if I've been to Japan before, the answer is NO, i've not been, but i've watched some japanese movies
I dont think he was trying to diss youu

ATMC:
Hebrews 10:26

KJV:For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Does this mean that God will not forgive wilful sin? If yes then why are we told that Christ paid for the sins we will commit in future? without specifying if it be wilfully or not.
let's try this:

If after yo've accepted /believed that Christ has taken away our sins once and for all, yet you come back insisting that you have sinned outside this purview of forgiveness /grace. What then can be used to blot this sin that you've chosen to place outside the the framework of christ's forgiveness?
.....all that will be left is you living with a crippling fear and expectation of damnation

Interestingly there also seems to be at least a slight similarity with the start of Genseis -
Eve ate the fruit wilfully, nothing happened
Adam ate the fruit wilfully, both eyes became opened
Yet God didnt seem to know what happened
Only when Adam wilfuly confessed that he was out of grace/favour/Sync that God noticed ...and 'rained curses'
