ask the HOLy Spirit for a word about your prayer. He,ll give it to you. When you receive the word, I really don't know how you should use it. Soome suggest you then continuously confess it, others suggest you simply beelieve it
Christianity EtcRe: Why Is Following Christ So Difficult? by esere826: 1:15pm On Oct 09, 2015
OLAADEGBU:
Why is following Christ so difficult? Why are there so many obstacles to following Christ? Why do we often find following Jesus to be hard? Isn't the Gospel supposed to be simple? undecided
Following anyone is much easier than leading anyone
Perhaps, folks are actually trying to lead Jesus (while thinking that they are following), hence they find it difficult and encounter obstacles

Jesus says he is the good shepherd
in order words he is meant to do the leading, and clearing of obstacles on our behalf
The psalmist, also uses flowery words to describe how the Lord shepherds his own
and consequently, they do not want, nor fear while even their tables are laid in the midst of voracious enemies

And YES, the good news is 'simple'
that is why it is called good in the first place
what can be easier than continuously hearing delightful things about oneself from the source of all things
Christianity EtcRe: Does The Bible Support Communism? by esere826: 11:42am On Oct 08, 2015
OLAADEGBU:
There is a passage in Acts 2 which some have used to support ‪Communism. Is it a valid reading? Which leads to the question of the OP: "Does the Bible support Communism"? Was the early church, as recorded in the Acts of Apostles communist? undecided
The first church under Peter showed many signs of what we today call communism

The bible neither supports nor castigates communism
neither does the bible support or castigate capitalism

just as the bible does not support or castigate cutting one's hair

However, some early 'american' protestant Christians felt that communism was of the devil as it deprived them of property ownership
and they correctly (in my opinion) suspected that it played down hardwork and its attendant reward. This they also felt was anti-christian

This tradition has generally lingered on in present day American Protestantism
they tend to now see and weave tales of communism as the tool the anti-Christ will use in bringing all people under his control, neither being able to buy nor sell without his government's approval
They are also very watchful of Europe which has remnants of communism in the form of socialism, and point out that the anti-Christ will flourish from there and ride on the back of a powerful EU which will also gradually become fascist and turn its guns against Israel

.....because of such future permutations, communism tends to be frowned upon by American protestant Christian leaders. And yes, the big shot capitalist are happy to sing along

This whole ministerial merry-go-round is the final nail on the coffin of this government.
We need to go home and sleep.
We did well kicking GEJ out ,as i am a firm believer that failure should never be rewarded (and GEJ failed in summary).
Same response seems to be waiting for PMB.
What was the point of wasting four bloody months to end up appointing non-technocrats?
PMB has spent the past 16 years trying to be president. Now he is president, he seems bereft of a clear cut idea of what to do with power.
Even the fight against corruption is so hazy and unclear.
The secrecy in governance seems to be a means of covering planlessness.
At least, we can be sure that the Buhari government will not give ministers a pat on the back for being corrupt.
Hopefully this should minimize corruption in Nigeria post Buhari regime

We might need to seek another leader for national economic resurrection after PMB takes a bow

Are you saying air doesn't conform to the shape of a cup? undecided
smiley I actually saw that coming, but hoped you'd miss it. I was tired, so I wasnt keen on couching my words with more explanatory characters. Lesson: Allow wriggle room in your statements when engaged in debates with those that are .....ehmmm, ehmmmm

If your mindset doesn't conform to the Word of God then automatically they do not conform with the mind of Christ, why then would I be interested in that kind of information? undecided
..good start
at least the first step is to know and acknowledge that mental wiring does affect the way one processes, disparages, concludes and disperses of information.
I mean, I wrote stuff which you couldn't process due to your 'christ-mind' and so you quickly concluded that it must 'devil stuff' or some other definition, ...i don forget the big words wen u dey call sef.

the next step
would then be to try to ascertain if indeed your present mental wiring is the best that God can come up with

OLAADEGBU:
I still didn't get your understanding on what Paul meant. Thanks anyway for your response. wink
fair enough
but then, why did you not get it?
This is why I think you did not get it:
Anything that gets into a glass cup has to conform to the shape of the cup. The cup is not able to store anything such as air that does not conform to this principle.

..you've probably wired yourself to accept and process information only in certain ways. If the process does not follow your brain map, your brain quickly tries to give it a label that would bring your brain to rest. Hence you penchant for attaching simple labels such as right vs wrong and fence sitting and political correctness etc

...its the wineskin darn it! grin
interpretation: work on your mindset, and you'd be amazed on the new kind of information that will flow through it and be retained wink

OLAADEGBU:
..
uhmmmmm
point 1 -some people like to label everything as sin sha
point 2 -Writings about the initial church seems to suggest that it had a communist-like underpinning -i.e properties were sold and brought to the feet of the apostles for distribution. Maybe that's were the claimed persistent affinity to communism comes from

point 3 -For everything, there is a season. There is a season to meet with the oppressed, and another to meet with the oppressors. Remember that the early church was relieved from its burden of persecution only when rulers began to interact with church heads and and then they started buying into the gospel.

point 4 -I think it is an american thing to associate communism with aethism, while associating capitalism with godliness. Interestingly, capitalism is fuelled by greed, and many times has atheists at the top of its pyramid, with those at its bottom neccesarily being religious because they have no other place to turn to. In contrast, communism seems to be fueled by people who would rather take their destinies in their hand rather than wait for the invisible hand of God to make things right. People under such systems are looked after by the state, and so naturally tend to have less need to be reliant on God

can you recall this cheesy
my view

OLAADEGBU:

Do Christians need to avoid offending anyone? What does Paul mean when he says to "give no offence in anything"? Explain .
Nope
You don't need to avoid offending anyone completely, however its a great virtue not be an aggressor.
Rather seek to make peace for as much as you can bear.
Let it be said of you: "I know Olaa as a level headed man. for him to have done this to you, you must have messed up really bad."
rather than:

Why not use the diary section of NL
It allows you to air your views and yours only

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The bible contains snapshots of events in history, not the whole story
so, trying to force your interpretation on the personalities mentioned in the bible can be fraught with error.

Now try to read this very carefully spending time to think about it:

At this moment, I could rightly get fed up with you (like a number of folks do) and then rebuke you tersely calling you a traducer, Pharisee or something else who puts weight on people that Christ has not given.
Now, imagine a writer mentions my rebuke of you and also mentions many more times that I rebuked others like you after a similar circumstance
does that make me someone that offends or happily offends people?

Would it be reasonable for an intelligent reader to pick up a 100 page book that can be read in 3 hours about my entire life and then draw conclusions with 100% certainty about who esere826 is, even to the extent of saying other views are wrong? ...hell NO

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I have my views alright, however, it is what it is....views
I was not around when Jesus was, neither were you
It would be the height of simplistic reasoning (which thankfully I am not capable of) to put Jesus in a box of "he either was one given to causing offence" vs "he wasn't given to causing offence".
Clearly the bible writers record both attributes.

..And this is why I usually try to stir your questions into smaller, reasonable and more accurate bits which I consider the right way to ask questions of this nature, not in setting traps like they used to do for Jesus.

For example, if you asked:
Did Jesus offend anyone? the answer is a simple Yes, because it is on record
However, a question such as was Jesus offensive? This cannot be answered with a quick yes or No.. an intelligent person in an intelligent conversation would first ask you to define offensive. then you might be asked to break it down into its components for each bit to be answered with a Yes or No

xxxxxxxxxxxxx
surely, it can't be so difficult to understand all of what I've written

Will you then say Jesus was a pacifist? undecided
I don't think you chose the correct word there^^

I guess what you meant was something like this: "did christ always try to avoid offending others?"
Well, I really don't know. Evidence exists for, and in contrary to this.

On the one hand it is said of him. "A bruised reed he will not break.."
yet we are also told of how zeal for the house will consume him. He then goes ahead with a whip to chase out 'money merchants' from the temple.

Life is full of all sorts, all fulfilling different God-given purposes. As vile as vultures are, they help rid the land of carcass.
So also are those who agress whether they be justified or not.

I have chosen my path
...to most times approach conversations with as much tact as possible while keeping my eyes on the ball.
the Holy Spirit has never complained about this to me

since 2014.
Your duration for being in Christ is not a criteria for soundness in doctrine.
you're right.
However time helps in giving you the latitude of putting doctrines to the test and gathering information to support or disprove doctrines
For example, someone who has never been a christian and got baptised in HIM only two days ago will know little to nothing about the history of the church, and how some doctrines that are coming forth, actually came 100's of years ago and caused problems to the congregations and made the church leaders evil dictators

with whose authourity did Noah curse?
I don't recall that the bible said anything about Noah cursing under the authority of God. Did you read something like that?

Then what happened to his Sister?
You know the story
uhmm,,... now this is the kind of bible fear that works on people and kills them. This is a big topic on its own
.
However, you missed my point. I might also need a whole new thread to say the story of what happened . ie the entire scenario that played out

Go and read 2samuel 1 and 2.
This is still another long story. The essence of my point is that David made personal choices and pronouncements. The mistake some make is that when they read the Bible they always assume that every word spoken, even by individuals was spoken by God. So for example, when David said this: “Why weren’t you afraid to lift your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed" ... it is is assumed that God was the one who spoke these words. ..big mistake

i never used the word MOG ,i used the word Spiritual leaders.
you did use it. Just copy and paste this "TURN to speak against the MOG" in search, you'll find that you used it.
But no worries. We'll let that pass

Spiritual leaders are bound to err.
They are men of like passions as you and I.
I agree very much
For me, the challenge is when you err and then you turn am to new church tradition and even turn the scripture on its head to support your erring. Well, I guess that is part of the erring process. The only problem is with the little ones that take the erring as a new doctrine and mess themselves up. ...na dis wan dey pain me.

Speaking against will mean to insult ....
I agree this should not be done to anyone at all whether a leader or follower. (...i am using the Nigerian definition of insult here)

.....or dishonor them because of their mistakes.
what does dishonor mean?
For example, i have learnt that Yorubas concept of honour is different from mine.
Can you give me examples of dishonour, thanks

You can see the case of Noah,
Noah was the man God used to save
humanity from extinction.

....etc
interesting examples alright -out of curiosity, how long have you been in Christ?

From my experience,
the bible can kill one, and also make one alive
I really don't know where to start from to break some of these things to you.
For example as starters,
1) Noah's son was cursed by Noah, and not by God. Remember that Lot did not curse his daughters for sleeping with him
2) Moses was spoken against by Aaron and his sister because of jealousy or because of his 'black' wife. This is a long story
3) David owed Saul everything, in as much as Saul turned against him later. There was no requirement for him to be loyal to Saul.

what do you mean by speaking against a MOG? [ ...break it down to its bits
First ask what exactly is a MOG?
Are you a MOG?, who are the MOGs?
What constitutes 'Speaking against'? For example, asking this MOG a question, is it speaking against?, saying you don't agree, is it speaking against? etc

sportsmaster:
\
1)Pray for them : - this is the most important and best thing to do,pray for them.
Ok

2)Believe the best about them.
Does believing someone's best change his worst. For example, notorious robbers can also be generous folks. So what exactly does this point mean?

3)Focus on their strengths and you will see their weakness disappear.
Not really. I believe I know what you're trying to say, but I doubt you've properly digested the fullness of this physiologically powerful concept.
..this is another topic for another day

4)speak postively about them.
fair enough

5)Never, I repeat Never criticise them in Public or in the midst people or amongst yourselves in churches or anywhere.
why not? Is it because they told you so and you believe them. Your dad might have likewise told you same thing never to challenge him.

6)Never criticise/ condemn them on Social media.
Why not?

7)Talk to other Spiritual leaders about the Particular Pastor/leader.
Why? where does this suggestion come from? Have you thought through this

coolHonour them.
Is honor earned or demanded?

Sorry, I'l take my leave now
midway through responding to your suggestions .. I saw some rooky gaps
I realised that although you've got a good heart
there is some more information that you would need to absorb and consequently process with the passing of time
...stay blessed

One thing we should know is this,
the more we criticize Spiritual leaders especially on the Internet
,the harder it is for the Gospel to spread.

Because People will have wrong impressions about the preacher which will result to obstacle for the Gospel.
......
Interesting ideas
but wait a minute, were do we draw the line?

an MOG rapes a little girl, and his assembly believes he did no wrong,
should the rest of us shut up or simply report him to other leaders and not the cops,
...leaders who probably have worse skeletons in their cupboards

when we keep quiet won't other leaders and assembly members begin to actually do the same thing thinking it is not wrong
what happens to this little girl who everyone turns their back on and despise so that the MOG is spared and the gospel has no obstacle?

..just thinking out loud, and I really dont want to go quoting scriptures because it would be a torrent if I do so

Hello friends, 1st of all, I don't want you to see me as a man that involves third party in his marrital life/affair, am not that kind of man, in fact a lot of things go on that I rather let it stay in my home for us to sort or face together than involving family or friends but this challenge is really heavy for me to bear.

I don't really know what else to preach to her that I don't like her behavior anytime am broke ,for me it's a total turn off because it always makes me feel like am not being appreciated even with all my efforts to make us happy.

My wife nag anytime am broke or notice my pay ain't coming soon, all she does is play blame game like telling me all sort of story, like she never eat since last year, like she's not happy, that the marriage is hell because of just few days broke, and the few days broke doesn't mean no food for us, the few days broke doesn't mean I won't raise money to fuel generator talk less of some more important bills. I am just 10 months old in this marriage, please, real men in the house kindly advice me on what to do, if am the one being wrong here because I don't understand why she's always like that.
...guy
any time you have money, make sure you do a whole lot of nagging too
the trick is that in some future discussions, she'll complain that you nag when you have money, while you'll complain that she nags when you have none. And both of you will realise that it is true ooo and laugh about it (....although u already knew)

It will tone down her 'nagg-iness' in the future anytime she remembers the discussions

however, if in your moment of mushiness, you make the mistake of telling her that you set her up
na you know....
just like Delilah did with Samson, your locks will be cut off

Uummh! I like a good Christian intellectual discussion any day anytime, spiced with a little gossip too
So though I feel a little bit shy carrying someones matter on my head, but ehmmm, ehmm, he's a superstar
so yan him matter I must grin

For this clip . I don't agree with him in most of the things he's said.
Just like I tried to make you see in your other thread, that the bible talked only about men of God, doesn't mean that the bible has ceased to speak about 'women of God'. Just like the bible does not speak of planets Venus and Saturn either

The word of God is alive, and not stuck in the past.
Even the book of revelation makes no mention of the bible, instead it speaks about books and the book of life. Now, this can be construed to mean that this book lives and grows. It has our stories written in them.

Also,it is said that those who believed were given the power to become son's of God. Daughters were not mentioned here.
If we want to be literal, then it means that even the ladies are considered son's of God. So, likewise a man of God can very well be a woman in this dispensation.

The bible actually doesn't talk much about "man of God" as a title, especially a God given one. I stand to be corrected.

In my opinion, all he needs to do his to go spend a month with his wife and shag her good, and I'm confident that she will forgive him for at least 2 years...no need for all this grammar and spirito tinz

Yes, the kingdom is important, but like God told Elijah, I have got 7000 that have not bowed their knees to Baal. So no need to worry that the kingdom work will not continue.
