The type of Christianity TD Jakes, Obama and yourself practise is the type that doesn't disturb your comfortable sinful lifestyle, it is not different from a social club.
If you say so
however, I now spend more time on the 'things of God' and feel more bonded to Him in this 'social club' than when I was a chairman in the 'christian assembly of critics'
and interestingly, God has not complained about this to me

You sound like the Pharisees who feel superior to others who they deem inferior and dirty.
Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread(Matthew 15:2)

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican(Luke 18:2).
actual with regards to homosexuality
i think you sound more like the pharisee quoted ..my opinion sha

anyways, it comes back to the same point.. let those of us sinful 'pharisees' that want to worship God in aircondition go join to those with like minds not minding others
while the 'saints' who prefer 'self infliction', go ahead to worship with their kind and throw jabs at us the 'pharisees'

..and let God be the one to separate wheat from chaff

......Now,what can I do? she's been begging me not to tell her elder brother .The mum hasn't heard anything about what transpired, even her siblings and have decided to let them know, so that they would know the kind of daughter they are living with(Packaged-slut). Is that the right decision? Or should I just delete every contacts I have with her? What can I do? Her mum do call me sometimes, now its so obvious am breaking up the relationship! But do I have to tell her mum or siblings who can understand how I really feel about it! Please, can you share me some advice or perspectives! I will appreciate it.

If you intend to break up
its only fair that you let a member of the family know the reason why, since you're close to them

If you tell her mum, the mum will put pressure on you to forgive her, and you wont be able to resist (that is if you have made up your mind to quit the relationship)
The brother is the best person to confide in. He'll understand and perhaps, it would make him more lenient with his own girlfriends if something like this happens to him in future

But should you forgive her in the first place?....uhmmmmm I don't know
she obviously had some other fellow that she loved as equally as she loves you hence she continued with him to this stage
she is probably better off with him but felt some loyalty to you because of the bonds you developed with her family.

Bro,you have nothing to worry about cos you're not yoruba.,But to call or address someone who's older than you by at least 5 years,(some people 2 years )is the biggest insult in Yorubaland or among we yorubas. And you must talk to anyone who's older than you by addressing them as "E" which is plural form  instead of "O" which is the singular. You must address someone older by "Eyin" meaning plural form of you instead of "Iwo" which is singular form of you. He should have addressed him as Asiwaju. He'd even feel really humiliated if someone younger addresses him as "Iwo" instead of Eyin",how would he feel if a 30 something year old guy comes over and calls him Bukola?  He'd feel like the earth should just open up and swallow him.
My Elder brother is just a year older than I am and I can never call him by his first name or address him by "o" or "iwo". Its very important in yorubaland,we don't take it lightly
If someone that's obviously younger addresses anyone by Iwo(Singular) or call you by your first name or greets you that way,you don't answer and some would call him back and insult that younger fellow for being disrespectful or even beat the hell out of the younger fellow. Don't get me wrong, that still exists very much in yorubaland even though this is 21st century. If It's someone you don't want to respect, maybe someone you don't like, you either address the person by speaking English or pidgin, and yet,you don't call the person by name, you may call the person Chairman. But the English you're speaking won't make the plural way of addressing the elders reflect

Thanks for sharing this information

the enemy would not cut food supplies (if they were slavers they would not have time to wait for surrender). Rather, they engaged in open warfare if they were able to enter the town's perimeter undefeated and then took slaves afterwards.

Most towns, in an attempt to prevent this kind of thing from happening, usually had lookouts to sound the alarm if an enemy was sighted. And a standing army as well (most males were trained to fight as well as farm). If an alarm was heard, the males returned to defend the town and face the enemy in battle.

As to whether this method was effective, not really sure since most of the populace still got enslaved or killed anyway. Huge toll.

All this is as far as I know.

Thanks.

This is the second death, the lake of fire 15And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire

To be laconic, the church of God comprises of a called out people who have been washed by the blood of the lamb. It is a company of people who are in Christ and have become new creatures. It is not a gathering were sin is condoned or where sinners are made to feel comfortable, it is like an hospital where the sick become healed and the sinners become saved. It is not a place for political correctness. It is a place where the truth is to be said in love and the saints are nurtured into maturity till Christ be fully formed in them. smiley

Now, this is where TD Jakes and I differ from you
and that is why you would find Jakes suggestion strange
we are thinking of different things although we used the same words
For us, a church of Christ is where people (no matter how in-sin or out-of-sin they ) come together to listen to the Word of God, and get refreshed
the emphasis is on Christ, but in an environment that is suitable for us

-I would find it difficult attending a church where everyone is tying their hair and have probably not washed for days even if miracles pour down like rain there.. it doesnt stop it from being a church of Christ

https://www.nairaland.com/2504886/should-homosexuals-put-death
umhhh Olaadegbu
there are too many points here
I really don't know how to tackle them in one place
What is a church?
then, what is a church of God?
Probably, this is were our thinking might fork into different paths

My understanding is that we tend to differentiate between these 2.
A church is a group of people (christians) that come together in a location with the main aim of calling on the name of Jesus
they could be extremely 'saintly' or extremely dirty or a mix. Their beliefs can be extremely different

A "church of God" is when we try to insist or connote only the churches that are made up of 'saintly' folks and follow some doctrines which we believe are the right ones. The emphasis in such description is that the congregation must be 'holy' because God is 'holy' and hates 'sin'. The goal here is to denounce and regularly flog sin while seeking to be as holy as possible.

I would have said yes, it is a church of God, however, the challenge I have with using the term 'Church of God' in such arguments is because it would immediately raise up a mental block in someone who's idea of the association of God and holiness is different from mine

It's much like when men are discussing sex and then if for any reason the discussion shifts to their daughters or wife immediately the story ends or quarrel starts

No one is talking about gays attending the Church but if they or any other sinner doesn't want repent from their sin should they seek churches that affirm their sinful lifestyle? undecided

I think the point was missed
the explanation is quite lengthy,... but let me try something short but a little bit haphazard

Churches are different just as one man is different from another, and one culture is different from another
Example of differences is:

There are some Nigerian families that allow their daughters the liberty to go outing even in the night
an onlooker that is pro lock-girls-in-the-house might hastily summaries that the parents are affirming that they should turn to prost.titutes

However, the parents might have something different in mind and might be coming from a different emotional place.

Now, this ^^^ is not a perfect example
however it should help in explaining that the word "affirm" that you used does not quite fit into what Jakes was saying

Let's move on
Christianity or Christiandom as I know it encourages people to first hear the gospel, then after this, come into repentance
this spreading of the gospel for repentance can come in two ways
1) Going out to evangelize
2) People coming into church to hear the gospel

Because the Church (as a congregation) is made up of people who are mostly closely knit and family units
there is always a tendency to protect some core shared values, unlike what you would get in outdoor evangelism
However, like I said earlier, the shared cored values differ from church to church
-one congregation would not mind if its prophet slaps everyone while spreading the gospel of repentance
-another would not mind if its prophets occasionally err and sleep with the most beautiful of its girls
-yet another would not mind if its prophets murder English regularly and teaches his flock to do same

Jakes is suggesting that is congregation would be uncomfortable with open gays, but that they can try some other church

OK,
you might say shouldn't he just condemn homosexuality outrightly and leave them to their fate
I'd say that well we are all different. One condemns, another heals

Besides, when a church spends every passing minute condemning
no one will come to hear the gospel in the first place, and there will be no repentance

But then, you might go on to say what manner of preaching will be served in a homosexual 'affirming' church?
I'd say as long as there is a living seed in the soil, no matter the amount of debris that covers it, it will one day force its way out
As 'protestants' we are taught that the Roman authorities absorbed Christianity and then snuffed it
However, it is self evident that this absorption ended up doing us a great deal of good as it spread Christianity to Europe and Africa
and stopped us from getting regularly roasted by a baying mob
but no 'dead' christianity was spread to China, and so there has been no gospel rising out of any Christian orthodox carcass in China

In summary, even if for the sake of our beliefs we cast these people away from us into the desert,
let us at least let them go with some of our water no matter how small

I really don't understand the simplistic way of thinking that drives a number of our 'literate' youths
how can one be laughing at a Benz because of its abandonment by a bad driver, and at the same time sounding the trumpets that the same bad driver is now driving a BMW

....this is sooo ridiculous

Religion / Re: T.D. Jakes Shocked After His Theology Called Into Question Following Gay Remarks by esere826: 4:54pm On Aug 12, 2015
TD jakes spoke soundly
he expresses the views that most Christians espouse
which is simply that all ministries cannot be the same

there are some churches that expressly forbids single men and women intermingling and punishes them if they try it
others seem to thrive on such intermingling of opposite sexes and then explain that they cannot sin or that it is no sin

Some ministries have no qualms if you empty the treasury you've been entrusted with
while some frown at such pilfery

Some ministries are excited about tongue speaking throughout the service
while some would rather that you remain calm

If you don't like a ministry, ..live it and join another or start one
no need turning yourself to a bull in a china shop destroying everything and demanding that rules be changed because of you

I think the snails will escape
If you dont want them to escape and you want to reduce ant issues
then build a water fence around the staked area
you do this by digging the perimeter at a horizontal water level and then using a mixture of trampoline and cement to seal it
you then run water through your perimeter fence

"Then I looked again at all the acts of oppression which were being done under the sun. And behold I saw the tears of the oppressed and that they had no one to comfort them; and on the side of their oppressors was power, but they had no one to comfort them. 2So I congratulated the dead who are already dead more than the living who are still living.…"- Ecclesiastes 4:1

This is not a challenge to God's word, but a wonder as to why the oppressor has so much power over the oppressed and there is usually no one to deliver, at least at that initial point.

The Government oppress the youth, the police oppress the citizens, the army kills it's citizens or tortures them, husbands oppress their wives and children , the rich oppress the poor, the beautiful oppress the 'ugly' , the employer oppresses the employees , armed robbers oppress everybody and the list goes on and on.

My question is why do the oppressed have so much power and leeway to oppress and why in most cases are the burdens of the oppressed not alleviated, at least immediately ?

the oppressors have the zeal to carry out what they which. they also are able to reap their reward immediately
they are barely encumbered by any moral burdens to desist from such acts

those like you who should be defenders, do not have the zeal to actually take actions to defend the oppressed. If you do, you do not reap any financial rewards.
