I have been seeing this object for over 30 years.
When I was younger, they've always been telling me it's a rocket, last week or thereabout when my son saw it and enquired to know what's it, I told him the same thing I was told and I never cared to investigate what exactly it is.

I've gone through the comments and still couldn't get a convincing answer yet.

So, I will still have to believe it's a rocket until I am convinced one day.

Career / Re: Is It Right To Give My Company A Week Resignation Notice by ETEYEN79(m): 12:36pm On Aug 17, 2023
winnah:
Good morning family, I never felt the need to do this, it's not like I don't know what else to do. I just need your opinion.
Am currently a Branch manager of one of the biggest indigenous retail company (supermarket) in the country. Some group of Indian investor bought over my company... And I was transferred to Abakaliki to open our new branch. my relationship with the new owners I won't lie, is great..
My net monthly salary now is 110k, I have an official car and I live in the company's quarters.
There's no hope for salary increment. In the next 10 years am not sure of getting to 200k. My fiancee is in pH, and we are hoping to get married by next year.. this places a lot of demand to increase my income so I can afford to take care of my family.

However, I have an offer with another retail company in pH with salary of 200k. The company has promised and increment upon my confirmation. I went for the interview yesterday.. when they saw my experience and everything in my CV they became anxious to bring me in... So they asked how much am expecting I told them 200-250k and they settle at 200k. Right they, the chairman asked HR to give me offer letter and that I should start with immediate effect. My pain now is that,
First ; according to the HR their budget for the position was 300k.. now I've short change my self.. I feel so bad.

Secondly; I don't know how to present this to my MD, how do I tell them am leaving.. and the notice seems short. As I met him yesterday with a lot of expectations and target from me, just don't know how to communicate it to him. How I wish they can offer me this amount. Is two weeks enough to do handing over...

Employment agreement mostly states "That after confirmation, either party will give one month notice or one month pay in lieu of notice to terminate this contract" meaning immediate compensation at an amount equal to that an employee would have earned as salary or wages by working through the whole notice period: for example, one month's salary.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Russia retaliates, bans Obama, 499 US Citizens over US sanctions by ETEYEN79(m): 10:19am On May 20, 2023
How many of us do dream of travelling to Russia?
Many here including those saying Russia is the best thing that has happened to them after Agege bread will choose residing in USA instead of Russia.
So, Russia's ban has no effect on American.

Sorry bro, same thing happened to my wife, it stopped after 3 months, but after then I told my wife to stop it. it has happened to her more than 3 times. Health center told us it's normal, but I know it wasn't. Since the last one expired, no issue and no more family planning again, enough is enough.

Politics / Re: Nigerians To Bear Pains Of High Petrol Cost - Timipre Sylva by ETEYEN79(m): 2:17pm On Feb 09, 2021
Government has always been taking us for a ride.
Even when crude was as high as $120, we were still buying petrol for #65, what are they taking us for?
So, when crude price increases and they make double from it, the best thing they believe should be done to citizens is to increase pump price.
I can see clearly why we have been remaining stagnant in this nation.

Education / Re: My 3-Year-Old Son Can't Read Or Write Letters, Please Help by ETEYEN79(m): 4:04pm On Oct 23, 2020
Please relax your mind, my little boy is 3 too, he knows nothing at all for now, can't even count 1-3 needless of saying 1-10, don't even know A yet, but I'm not bothered.

With time they'll get it, in the olden days, kids of 3 will never be let away from their mothers side, but today we push kids as if we kept something for them to become at tender age, so, free the little lad, he'll be fine to your surprise.

National Open University Of Nigeria is one of the universities established by the Federal Republic of Nigeria and got its accreditation from the National University Commission just like every other university in Nigeria. So if there be any one having issues with that, then the person should seek a redress from the same body that established the institution and probably file for revoking the order that established it. Otherwise, there is no need fighting over worthless issues here.
I graduated from NOUN and where I am working right now, everybody including the Managing Director respects me a lot because, I have what it takes to solve problems when one arises. There are many other graduates in the same office, they are also good in their own capacity as we all cannot be the same, but I am different because I discovered in NOUN that "To be brilliant will require me to be an Independent Learner", so anytime we have any challenge in the office, my MD will always call on me because he believes I know how to seek for the solution. I am not trying to brag here, I only want people to know that, Graduate of NOUN are not dumb as believed by many out there. NOUN has made me to be able to discover things on my own without waiting for anyone.
Moreover, I have dealt with many graduates of this highly placed Conventional Universities and discovered that, many of them are not in anywhere better than some NOUN graduates.
Finally, I want to add here also that, it is not the fault of Nigerians that our students are not doing pretty well but the fault of our governments as they are not interested about the decay in our academic standard. so, lets not blame ourselves much.
Thank you all.

this statement should not be coming from a man of God, It is only God that has the final say, how can a mortal body speak of tomorrow he is yet to see. Who told him if it is the will of God for PDP to win that will not win?
I don't like people concluding things as if they are God.
Politics / Re: Speaker Of Akwa Ibom State Assembly & Members Gain Access Into The Building by ETEYEN79(m): 5:22pm On Nov 27, 2018
They were not wise, they were supposed to create a faction in PDP before defecting.
The court wouldn't have declared their seat vacant, but there was no division in the party and the law is very clear on that.
So, next time, before embarking on a journey, they should think first.
It's a lie, that your logic is wrong, you don't get first class by runs, you've got to be brilliant and intelligent, getting a first class is not a fluke, you earn it.

You have said it exactly how it is, those who couldn't get it are just jealous of the few ones who got it.
Education / Re: 10 Secret First Class Student Will Never Tell Anyone About by ETEYEN79(m): 4:21pm On Sep 25, 2018
1. This is the best expository that can be given out to students who are ready to excel in their academic life.

2. Even if First Class graduates hardly get jobs in Nigeria, many students still dream of bagging it.

3. So many First Class have been given automatic jobs at the convocation ground with other gifts attached.

4. People should stop dragging First Class holders into ditches, in a saner clime, they are the ones who controls the educational system and security, because they are believed to be mentally sound.

5. If you didn't graduate with a First, your child might do so, keep praying for them because it is a thing of joy anytime, anyway.

6. I know what I'm saying, so keep your argument.

7. Thank you.

shankara7:
What skill does she has to offer to employers? Having a first class from one mushroom university is not a big deal.
Being a First Class does not really mean she has all the skill required for employment, but rather, it means she has the capacity to comprehend easily and also acquire the required skills if not more within a short period which will add value to the organization.
Have you ever worked with a First-Class colleague before? If No, then don't jump to conclusions.

But she said she has done so, for your information, I can tell you categorically that, many academic institutions don't employ their best graduating students anymore, and it is pathetic.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 22-yr-old First Class Nigerian Graduate Takes To Twitter To Beg For Employment by ETEYEN79(m): 12:42pm On Nov 01, 2017
Please start with anything you can find for now. Apply in those little Primary and Secondary school around you. As for most of our academic institutions, the Principals (V.Cs) are not ready to help the young and brilliant ones so long you are not connected to them nor any of their allies, but I know one thing, God will always make a way where there seems to be no way.
Remain blessed.

A man stood as a surety for another one to get him bailed, then a known person went to the man's home, shoot sporadically at everything on site, and the man on bail declared missing, please who should be questioned for the whereabout of the man?
Sometimes, I wonder if we the youths always reason before commenting on an issue.
We seems to be playing politics with everything and accept every nonsense dished out to us by anybody.
I think Shehu Garuba is totally wrong in that his theory.
My own opinion shaaa.

NYSC / Re: NOUN Graduates Will Soon Be Able To Participate In NYSC, Law School – VC by ETEYEN79(m): 2:59pm On May 31, 2017
I have read and heard about many ridicules about NOUN and her graduates, but I keep asking myself, with all their good spoken English and great looking school structures and fantastic lecturers in their own universities, what have they been able to invent? Instead of we Nigerians supporting what is good until it becomes perfect, we are everywhere throwing unnecessary stones that will not do us any good. All universities in Nigeria are great institutions but situations won't allow them function well. So, please lets stop criticizing schools as if we have built one ourselves.
Over 99% of the Professors working in NOUN are from other universities, so do we also say they are incompetent?
Whether anyone likes it or not, NOUN is a Federal University, accredited by NUC.
I am proud to have gone through their system and finished well by the grace of God.
