Atiku Mocks Son Over Chelsea's Loss To Arsenal, Says "He Has Refused To Reach Out To Me After Match"

Football, more than any other sports, has become little gods not only in Nigeria alone but the entire world. Often, we have seen on many occasions situations where mother and daughter, brother, and sister, and father and son do make mockery of themselves or exchange banters with each other simply because his/her darling team outshines the other team. Some kids can mock their dads or mums if the parents' teams lose an important match. Conversely, parents too have been seen on countless occasions subjecting their kids to an element of mockery, either in public or in private over defeat of his darling team.

A few hours ago, a prominent politician and a former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was caught in a similar act being a football pundit too. The former Vice President took to his official Twitter handle to mock his son's team loss to another team. You could remember that Arsenal football club defeated its London rival, Chelsea football club in a London derby at the Emirates stadium. The match between the two familiar enemies that took place on Boxing Day has now become the much talked about among football lovers across the globe. Hence, Atiku is also not left out in this interesting debate. He simply got stuck to his Twitter handle shortly after the match[color=#000000].[/color]

Atiku, a rumoured presidential candidate for 2023, wrote: "I would usually expect my son, @HHMustaphaAA to reach out to me on days like this, but it is almost half an hour since the #ARSvCHE game ended, no word. Can anyone tell me why?"

His son, Mustapha Abubakar Atiku replied: "Congratulations on a well-deserved victory, Dad. Hopefully you can stay away from the relegation battle ��."

As it can be deduced from above, Atiku is a die-hard gunners while his son is blues for life. He had challenged his son to speak up to the outcome of the match. He recalled how his son, Mustapha do reach out to him on a match day like this. His son finally summoned courage to reply his dad. He congratulated him on his team well-deserved victory, saying at least with the win he is sure that Arsenal is gradually getting out of trouble zones as the club was placed 15th on the log before the London derby.

A 16-year-old boy, identified as Sadiqu Daura, who was confined to a cage for four years by his father because of his condition, has been allocated a room in the man’s house.

Sadiqu’s father, Mallam Salisu Daura, confirmed the development when a team from a non-government organisation, Save the Children, visited his house in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday.

The organisation is at the forefront of those protecting the boy’s interest to ensure that he lives a normal life.

Salisu told the team, “I regret my actions and it’ll never happen again. The people, who took up this case, are not my enemies. They will live long, because I’ll keep praying for their success. They’ve helped me and I’ve now realised my mistakes.

“I don’t have enough rooms in the house as you can see. I didn’t put him in the cage to punish him or because I don’t love him. It was just my way of allocating a room to him.”

The father of 16, who is also a tailor, showed Sadiqu’s new room, which is about 90 per cent complete, to the team.

Investigation revealed that Sadiqu’s predicament started when he lost his mother six years ago.

Being a cripple, he was then taken to his paternal grandmother, who also died shortly thereafter.

Sadiqu was thereafter brought back to his father’s house and was put inside a cage because of his condition.

It was learnt that a change agent of the Save the Children in Daura, Mallam Aminu Gambo, drew the attention of the organisation to Sadiqu’s plight and the NGO consequently took it up[color=#000000].[/color]

“Upon finding out about Sadiqu’s predicament, we swung into action by first visiting the house. We took the matter to the Police Area Commander, who sent us to the command headquarters in Katsina,” Gambo stated[color=#000000].[/color]

A top police source revealed that Sadiqu is mentally ill, a development which he said occasionally affected his behaviour and interaction with people.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “The father is not wicked. We all have our individual challenges. When the matter was brought to our notice, we carried out our investigation and we discovered that apart from being crippled, the boy is also mentally ill.

“We directed the father to ensure that the boy is well taken care of. And this, the father did according to his ability.”

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 50-year-old man, Usman Tajudeen, in the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre for alleged defilement.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the defendant allegedly defiled a four-year-old girl on August 21, 2020, in Ikere-Ekiti[color=#000000].[/color]

Ikebuilo said, “The defendant and the victim’s parents were neighbours. The victim’s mother noticed that blood was coming out from the victim’s private parts. When the mother asked her, she confessed that the defendant invited her to his house.

“The offence contravenes Section 31(2) of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012.”

She urged the court to remand Tajudeen in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court did not take the plea of the defendant[color=#000000].[/color]

Chief Magistrate Adefumike Anoma adjourned the case till September 18 for mention.

Anoma, in another development, ordered the remand of a 31-year-old man, Ajayi Paul, for allegedly robbing a man of his motorcycle on August 29, 2020, in Ado Ekiti, and adjourned the case till September 18 for mention.

A woman, identified as Mrs. Chiamaka Okechi from Ezeama Mgbagbuowa, Enugu State, has been seriously injured by her abusive husband, Mr. Obinwanne Chiafo.

It was gathered that the victim who was forced to marriage at the age of 13 and started giving birth early, has not had it peaceful in her 13-year-old marriage as she has had to endure several forms of violence and abuses from her spouse.

According to an NGO, Women Aid Collective (WACOL), Obinwanne had severely battered his wife and forcefully ejected her from their matrimonial home in 2015, including taking custody of six out of their eight children [color=#000000].[/color]

Although he remarried, he later came back to plead for forgiveness and impregnated her again before abandoning her again. The latest incident was on the 21st August, 2020, when the estranged husband came to her house and unleashed terror on her.

“He pounced on me, kicked and punched me very hard all over my body, including several heavy blows that landed on my chest.

I screamed as a result of the excruciating pain, but he kept on and brought an iron rod which he used to hit my head, causing me severe head injury. It was at that point that he ran away,” Chiamaka said.

The victim went ahead to the Police station at Aguobu Owa, to report the incident but, unfortunately, was asked to bring money which she couldn’t afford[color=#000000].[/color]

She explained that after the incident, she has been suffering from severe pains on her head and chest and has been passing sleepless nights.

She also stated that she is unable to go home for fear that her husband would return to carry out his threat to kill her.

She pleaded with the law enforcement agencies to arrest her husband before he kills her.

A 60-year-old man, Ibrahim Ibuoye, has appeared before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ota for alleged trespassing on the farmland of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Ota.

Ibuoye, who was arraigned on four counts bordering on the breach of the peace, forceful entry, causing damages and conspiracy, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Rosemary Samson, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on August 26, 2020, at the Obasanjo Farm Limited, Ota[color=#000000].[/color]

Samson said the defendant and his accomplices were armed with weapons and allegedly conspired among themselves and forced their way into the farm, thereby conducting themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace[color=#000000].[/color]

She also alleged that the defendant damaged a Honda Accord car with number plate LSD 655 EV belonging to one Kazeem Ajiboye.

The prosecutor added that the offences contravened sections 81, 390(9), 451 and 517 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

Magistrate B. S. Abdulsalam admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Abdulsalam ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.

The magistrate also directed that the sureties must have landed property within the jurisdiction of the court as part of the bail conditions.

The case was adjourned till September 14, 2020, for hearing.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Enugu zonal office has arrested fourteen suspected internet fraudsters, including popular instagram celebrity, Bitcoin Lord, from different parts of Awka, Anambra State.

According to reports, they were arrested on Monday, August 31, 2020 , based on the intelligence available to the Commission[color=#000000].[/color]

The suspects whose age ranges from 21 and 28 were arrested at Okpuno Awka, Agu Awka and Ngozika estate, all in Anambra State.

Items recovered are different exotic vehicles which include three Mercedes Benz 4matic, three Mercedes Benz AMG, two Lexus Rx salon cars.

Interim analyses of some of the suspects’ phones showed they were involved in some assumed internet fraud which includes online bitcoin scam, love scam and identity theft.

The suspects will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
