Travel / Re: ILR Application (SET M) by evenda: 7:24am On Apr 27
newbie715:
Hi Everyone,

Having searched unsuccessfully for ILR thread, I decided to start one.

I have recently been through my ILR application so I will just post useful links or info that helped me and my timeline. Anyone with additional info should feel free to add.

I should add that my ILR experience is as a spouse of a British Citizen (SET M) so the information I have is on this route. Other routes have similarities but have their own peculiar documentation requirements.

Timeline:

Applied for ILR Route : Set (M)
Application submitted: 08/12/2020
Document Uploaded : 31/12/2021
Date Biometrics Enrolled : 05/01/2021
Application type : Standard
Approval/Refusal Received : 19/05/2021
BRP Card Received : 21/05/2021

I don't think it's necessary to add my list of documents as the application process personalises one's document list based on the information you entered but as a guide, it's basically the documents used for FLR (M) + life in the UK test. My advice is to write the LIUK test as soon as you can, it doesn't expire.

I am due to apply for my ILR / spouse visa, my 3 dependants under 18yrs have not lived in uk for 5yrs but I have read online they can be added to my ILR application as there is no 5yr rule for dependeants when applying for ilr.

Is this correct please?

Hi,
Which of the books did you get that was useful to you? And are you looking to sell them as I can buy off you ?

kumbhuru:
My result is out and I had band 7.5 overall. I could have done better but I had some distractions towards my exam but that's enough for what I needed it for.

I started my preparation from this group, in August by reading everything from page 1 to the end so as to know the materials to use. I read the testimony of others in other gr3by searching nairaland too.

For writing, finish everything on www.ieltsliz.com first. Get the premium book of ielts buddy too, it's everywhere online free. Practice with those and then get the past questions from Cambridge and practice. If you don't have anyone to vet your essays, use chatgpt to mark, score and correct your work. You can Google how to use chatgpt for IELTS Writing.

For speaking and listening, you just need to get the Cambridge materials and practice, Google or YouTube the speaking/LISTENING audio books and solve. Record yourself while speaking and correct yourself if you don't have a friend ti practice with. Get used to various accent by watching some podcasts. I didn't do this though, no time. Those hsed to watching foreign films won't have issues with understanding listening. Listening also requires attention and presence of mind, if you have issues with concentration, work on it. Constant practice will help.
Speaking and listening should be bonus, no one should fail those, they're for boosting of overall bands.

Reading seems a hard nut to Crack as time is never enough. You should also practice with cambridge. There are books on strategies for various questions types online, get one and stick to them. Practice by question type and master or create strategies for yourself. You don't need to time yourself while learning strategies. Only start timing when you are conversant with all questions types and strategies involved.

You can visit these YouTube channels and sleep on them, FastTrack IELTS, ielts jack, E2 preparation, ielts liz.

In short, there's no shortcut, you have to put in the work. It's better you use that 50k you will give some people for tutorials to buy data instead and sleep on YouTube. Most of these tutorials are hungry people who themselves have never written IELTS before.
Except of course you know a trusted one.

IELTS is all about strategy and formula, hack their system by learning those and you would be shocked by how well you pass.

Finally, if your English is bad, in terms of spelling, grammar and basic English language skills, I believe you should start from there. Someone with bad spelling will fail listening and writing. Someone with poor lexis/structure and basic English skills would struggle. It's not a bad idea to firstly brush through some Primary/Secondary school materials before attempting the IELTS if you fall into this group. Wishing you success.

Isn’t there a checklist that you need to print and carry along,
That basically gives you a list of what you should be uploading for submission

I am hoping someone can help here please:

This is regarding the finance aspect. My husband who is on spouse visa (2nd half of the 5yrs) is currently apply for his last child to join us.
My salary is enough to cover the financial requirements (after adding all other children) but his is below.
Is it sufficient if I provide only my financial evidence for this application, or does he need to provide his too?

We can provide his but it is too tedious going to get a letter from his previous employers as they need 12months evidence.

My question is: the child in question is dependent on him not me but since we are married, Can we only provide my payslips and bank statements for this application or do we need his too?

Thanks

Good morning to everyone...Am going through some difficult time with IOM and I know am not the only one in this,I was able to book my TB test last week(9th of August) and I was scheduled for 14th August,I made transfer to the account rolled out by their customer care (Standard Chartered Bank) and message them with the Booking appointment confirmation message and payment receipt, till the booking day they didn't get back to me so I went to IOM on that Monday (14th August) but we were told we are holding draft appointment not yet confirmed (over 50persons were in this on that Monday) We were told to go back home and message them with our passports and payment confirmation and I did email them on that Monday they replied me on Tuesday to send my passports in PDF format which I did immediately and till now they haven't reply me even after sending messages everyday till this morning nothing yet... Pls if anyone know what else I can do or anyone who's in the same situation like mine and have been able to solve the problem. 😠😡

Currently applying for family visa for our 3rd child. He is the only applicant, his sibling are already in UK on a family visa .

To calculate the financial requirement, I’m being asked this? Is it a YES or No.
the other children are already here, are they also counted as someone being sponsored by me ?(they are on the 2nd half of the 5years family visa)

Thanks

Has anyone applied for their dependants here, can you help me?

Can someone please help me understand and check if this is right

We are applying for 3 children to join father in the UK(he’s on his flr now)
We paid the IHS for the 1st child lastweek and was quoted $900
And now I’ve come to finish the rest, the other children IHS has been quoted for $1470 each
I’m wondering what changed in a week as it’s same info for parent i have put in

The father’s brp was given in Jan 2022 to end Aug 2024

So between now and Aug 2024, is abt 2yrs and 1month left

So the $900 seems more appropriate or am i wrong please
Or would we be refunded the overpayment when their brp is issued as I’ll expect it will most likely be issued to the end of their father’s brp date as well

Please experts help me understand o undecided

we were both surprised that it took 4days from date of biometrics. and just last night hubby was saying he should have paid d extra 800k. Thank God we didnt.

and thank you all too. all info on this thread were very useful.
he did the b1 exam instead

thank you very much.
do you by chance have the link for where they fill out this request, so we can direct them there?

thanks

newbie715:

The simple answer is yes. He can work while awaiting a decision. The agency can confirm his right to work by filling out the online request on gov.uk using the application number that was generated when you made payment online but the tricky thing to bear in mind is that sometimes it takes a little while for the application number to be recognised in the system. I hope it works out for you.
