People who study in Potsdam usually want to live in Berlin. I’ve never heard or seen anyone studying in Berlin and living in Potsdam. Potsdam is a racist village and I wouldn’t imagine any Black person living there, except they study there. Are you in Berlin? Or are you coming to Berlin any time soon?

Yes hopefully by September, trying to make all necessary inquiries ahead of time.

Thanks bro, please do know the procedure and the cost for getting German visa through contono. Please here is my smartjmeshach12@gmail.com let's relate more please
Thanks for your response

They would ask you to show proof that you have been residing in Cotonou for about 6 months (residence permit, proof of date of entry on passport etc) and that you have something to do there, like studying or working etc,

You can google about the websites. There are lots of them.

Moabit is not cheap. It is just not desirable because of the dominant Turkish population. But it can be expensive. Wedding is cheaper of course and there are lots of Africans living there. Infact, Wedding is the African area in Berlin. It is also considered ghetto. That’s why it’s cheaper.

Anywhere around Mitte, Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, are usually expensive, because those are the desirable areas in Berlin, especially Kreuzberg. You can still find affordable flats there if someone passes their old contract to you. But it’s generally expensive.

Outskirts like Schoneweide, karlshorst, Lichtenberg, are relatively cheap. Neukölln is another cheaper area. By cheap, I mean, you can find a one bedroom flat for around €500. Karlshorst is a bit far and boring. But it’s a rich area with rich, old Germans. The young people there are students who live in the student housing and study at HTW.

Whatever you do, no matter how bad your condition is, please DO NOT live in Marzahn or Hellersdorf or Kopenick. Those are skin head racist areas with AFD supporters. Some black people would tell you they lived there and had no problems, but please don’t. Stay away from those areas. They are also considered low income areas and telling someone you live there, would be considered shameful and unattractive.

How about Potsdam? Googl map says thats like 40min car/ train ride from Berlin, is it possible to find cheaper accommodation there? like school in Berlin but reside in Potsdam? also any neo-nazi, skin head wahala for potsdam side?

Yes, someone had her family reunion interview today..
The question is, when are they going to start giving appointment to students.

Good news then! Thank God, lets hope it works out for all of us waiting.

Hi, I don’t do the pm thing. Housing in Berlin is a job on its own. Too many people looking for flats, a lot of competition and less available flats. So you’d have to dedicate so much time to it, as though you’re job hunting.
There’s also discrimination against people of color. This is not even the Germans. It is other foreigners (white people) from other countries who won’t want to live with a black or Arab person. They’re very racist.

Just have all your documents ready and apply to Landlords via websites. If you get lucky, you get a reply. Or check Facebook groups. Students get a chance to stay in student housing, so they’re quite lucky in this area.

A one bedroom flat can go from 500-800 euros a month, depending on the area. A room in a shared flat can go from 400-600 a month, also depending on the area and whether they’re scamming you or not. A flat with more than one room, can go for 700 - 1,500 euros a month.
Student housing can be as cheap as €190 a month or €400 if you live close to the center.

Now there’s a rent freeze in Berlin, by law. The law prohibits landlords from raising the rent for the next 5 years. If you’re a low income earner, you can apply for a WBS that qualifies you for social housing. Social housing refers to newly built houses that are funded by the government and are cheaper than regular flats.

Hey bro, thanks for replying @bold part, What websites?

What part(s) of Berlin can one find very affordable single room apartments? I understand certain areas like Moabit,Wedding and on the outskirts Marzahn, Hellersdorf, Friedenau have affordable houses but that's just from online searches, I want to know from someone who has had a first hand experience of residing in Berlin, someone such as yourself.

You need to show proof that you have been there for over 6 months, proof could be residence permit, passport proof, etc

The window thing is quite common. It has nothing to do with racism and it’s not an attack. They just tell you to close it or they close it themselves. Sometimes they leave it open. They don’t call police on black people here, like they do in the US. Germans mind their business.

Yes, some white women obsess about riches here. The rich people show off for other rich people. They buy expensive things, live Porsche lifestyles and dine in expensive restaurants. But the show off is for their friends.
Generally, almost everyone is comfortable and the gap between the rich and poor, is not so wide. You won’t know who has so much money and who is poor, because they dress the same. You’ll only know from their lifestyle.

What's housing like in Berlin? Can i send you a pm? want to make some inquiries.
Travel / Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by evergreen9: 4:13pm On Jul 13, 2020
Maybe we need to get the attention of the Nigerian envoy to Germany. That might be the next viable option
Travel / Re: Being Black In Berlin/germany by evergreen9: 5:11pm On Jul 12, 2020
Danielhouston:
Then there are the grumpy people. These ones are usually old German women. All they do is complain. Everything annoys them and everybody is too loud for them.

If your dog sh*ts on the ground and you don’t pick the sh*t, get ready to hear their opinion. If you ride your bicycle on the sidewalk, they will tell you how they feel. Even in the hot sun and terrible heat, if you try to open the window in the train or bus for fresh air, you’ll see them shouting as if somebody pulled their wig. They will close the windows in the train and tell you they have fear of whatever...

They also complain about noise at the park. Their house is 2km away but they’ll still complain that the music is disturbing them. They constantly call the police on people at Mauer park, for noise complaints. Instead of them live in a quiet area where they can have peace of mind, they live in right in the middle of fun activities and try to spoil the fun for everybody. The police always caters to them.

Lol so "Karen's" dey for Germany sef.

Is this person saying we can enter in for an appointment in cotonou or what?

Because for Cotonou all you need to do is just to bring all the document and enter for an appointment no booking.

Am not sure if that will work.

From what I have heard You would need to show proof that you have been in Cotonou for about 6 months. Obviously everybody's case is different but there are certain criterias the embassy would require.

I never wanted to comment on this but I said what the hell, maybe I should. See ehn, i have been on this German matter since december 2018. I no be new comer for here, so pay attention and read with a sense of rationality!

Your anger and grievance is totally misplaced!!

Guys, channel your anger to the clueless aboki man that was appointed as the ambassador to Germany based on nepotism, focus your anger on the Nigerian embassy in Germany, focus on Abike dabiri and Onyema both of whom work in the foreign affairs division of the Nigerian government. I could mention 100 people whom you guys should blame FIRST before blaming the Germans.

The Nigerian government is at an all time low! Our diplomatic representation has never been this bad. The Germans are only playing by the rules. Trump was racist when he banned ALL African countries, we can't say the Germans are racist when I know people in Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana , Angola who have all done their own interview at the German embassy.

Don't let anyone deceive you. The fault lies in the hands of our inept government and our representatives in the various foreign ministries we have in Nigeria. As students we can all go down to these ministries to protest, get some legal practitioner to draft and sign a petition against our embassy in Germany, our foreign ministry and our travel ministry also.

We can't start calling the Germans out when our own house is not in order.

How can the Germans be racist and still give Ghanaians and Ethiopians interview and visa? Selective racism? Lol, black is black my brethrens.

U are in Nigeria Protesting, Insulting and making the Germans look bad on the internet, saying that Germany should let you in, the Germans are very practical, they would say if they react like this now, imagine what they would do when they arrive Germany?

Guys smarten up! This f0rk up na Naija government cos am! We have stupid people claiming to represent Nigeria on the international stage, people with little or no diplomatic experience!

I am out!

You should be ashamed of yourself!
If you have to bring up a small number of infractions by other Nigerian tribes (that make up 82% of the population) as supposed to IGBOs (who are 18%) and responsible for 90+% of Nigerian crimes abroad then we have a problem.

People like you should shut up and embark on ways to stop the IGBO crime culture that is destroying Nigeria's reputation globally!

You are the one who started the tribal bashing or have you forgotten? We were all talking about the EU's decision to keep Nigeria out and next thing I know you decided to show yourself for the low life scum that you are by bringing some unnecessary and unrelated tribal arguement to this issue. You are talking about everyday people BUT I am telling you that you have criminals occupying reputable positions in the south western Nigeria political scene.
