Toilet seats are far cleaner than the average mobile phone – a shocking new study has revealed. Initial Washroom Hygiene took swab samples from smartphones and found the average device is nearly seven times dirtier than a loo seat. Those clad in leather cases harboured the most bacteria and even phones in easier-to-clean plastic cases have more than six times the germs found on loo seats, reports Mail Online. Initial Washroom Hygiene took swabs using a handheld device which highlights live microbes on the surface. While loo swabs showed bacteria on around 220 areas around the seat, the average mobile phone boasted a disgusting 1,479 such spots. Experts have warned that mobiles become filthy because people take them into the bathroom. Professor Hugh Pennington, emeritus professor of bacteriology at the University of Aberdeen told the Mail: “Swabbing a smartphone is almost like checking your handkerchief for germs. “You are likely to find them because of the close physical contact you have with this device several times a day.” He said that the bugs on mobiles will “probably be people’s own bacteria so the likelihood of passing on disease is low”. However, Prof Penning added, “it might be ill- advised to pass smartphones around between people.” Earlier this year, disgusting pictures were released showing smartphones covered in bacteria. Swabs were taken from an iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy 8 and Google Pixel to test for the levels of aerobic bacteria, yeast and mould present. The phones’ screens had the highest levels of bacteria, with 100 colony forming units (CFU) per cm2 for the Samsung Galaxy, 40 CFU for the iPhone, and 12 CFU for the Google Pixel. The study, carried out for Insurance2go, said this compared to 24 CFU on a toilet seat and flush. Other heavily affected areas for the phones include the back of the handset, the lock button and the home button. Meanwhile, a beauty blender was found to have 24 CFU per cm2, while a make-up brush had 0.4 CFU, with high levels of mould, the MailOnline reported. The study found 5 CFU per cm2 of yeast and bacteria on an office keyboard and mouse. A third of people in the UK admit to never cleaning their phone, with one in 20 cleaning their phones less than once every six months. Dr Shirin Lakhani, from Elite Aesthetics, said: “Our smartphones are a really big source of skin contamination and skin problems, namely acne. “High concentrations of microscopic bacteria from your phone's screen mixed with oil and makeup from the skin, along with heat from the phone, breeds more bacteria. “This can clog pores and often result in inflammation and acne. “To combat these problems use a headset when on the phone for a lengthy period of time and regularly wipe your smartphone with an alcohol wipe to remove as much bacteria as possible before using it." https://www.tori.ng/userfiles/image/2018/dec/01/Mobile%20phones.JPG https://www.thesun.ie/news/3461779/mobile-phones-seven-times-dirtier-than-a-toilet-seat-and-those-in-leather-cases-are-the-worst/ |

President Buhari has once again reacted to his perceived hatred for Christians. In a new article published on Churchtimes, a UK based online christian platform, President Buhari said just like many Christians, he is a descendant of Abraham and that he does not hate anyone that is of the Chjristian faith, afterall his deputy is a Christian. He advised Nigerians not to allow politicians use religion as a tool to divide the country. Read his article below ''IN 1844, the Revd Samuel Ajayi Crowther returned home to Yorubaland (now part of modern-day Nigeria). Twenty years earlier, he had been kidnapped and sold to European slave traders who were bound for the Americas. He was freed by an abolitionist naval patrol, and received by the Church Missionary Society. There, hebfound his calling. Crowther made his voyage home to establish the first Anglican mission in Yorubaland. He came with the first Bibles translated into Yoruba and Hausa languages. He opened dialogue and discussion with those of other faiths. And his mission was a success: Crowther later became the first African Anglican bishop in Africa. Today, Nigeria has the largest Christian population on the continent. The messages and teachings of Christianity are part of the fabric of each person’s life. ALONG with the millions of Christians in Nigeria today, I believe in peace, tolerance, and reconciliation; in the institution of the family, the sanctity of marriage, and the honour of fidelity; in hope, compassion, and divine revelation. Like Bishop Crowther, I am a descendant of Abraham; unlike him, I am a Muslim. I believe our two great religions can not only peacefully coexist but also flourish together. But Muslims and Christians must first turn to one another in compassion. For, as it says in Amos 3.3: “Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?” As they are People of the Book, I believe that there is far more that unites Muslims and Christians than divides them. In fact, I believe that the messages of the Bible are universal: available for anyone to exercise, and instructive to all. We must resist the temptation to retreat into our communities, because, if we do, we can only look inwards. It is only when we mix that we can reach new and greater possibilities. Whichever religion or religious denomination they choose to follow, Nigerians are devout. Anything that Nigerians believe will place impositions on their practice, and belief is therefore sure to cause widespread alarm. And, unfortunately, there are those who seek to divide Nigerians — and our two great religions — and to do so for their own advantage. I stand accused — paradoxically — of trying to Islamise Nigeria while also being accused by Boko Haram terrorists of being against Islam. My Vice-President is a devout man, a Christian pastor. He, too, is accused of selling out his religion, because of his support for me. This is not the first time that I — nor, indeed, my Christian-Muslim evenly split cabinet — have been the subject of such nonsense. Fortunately, the facts speak differently from the words of those who seek to divide us from one another. Since my administration has been in power, Boko Haram has been significantly and fatally degraded; I have befriended church leaders and church groups both within and outside our country; my Vice-President has addressed and opened dialogue with Muslims up and down our land. In all things, we seek that which all well-meaning Christians and well-meaning Muslims must seek: to unite, respect, and never to divide. Does it not say “There is no compulsion in religion” (Qur’an 2.256)? Does it not say “Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us” (Luke 9.50)? This, surely, is the path that followers of both our two great religions must walk. UNFORTUNATELY, those who wish us all to walk apart have recently found another focus for their efforts: the tragic clashes between nomadic herdsmen and settled farmers in the central regions of Nigeria. For generations, herders have driven their cattle from the north to the centre of our country; they tend to be predominantly Muslim, although not exclusively. The farmers, in certain areas of central Nigeria, are predominantly Christian. The causes of this conflict are not religious or theological, but temporal. At the heart of this discord is access to rural land, exacerbated both by climate change and population growth. Sadly, there are some who seek to play fast and loose and so make others believe that these are not the facts. When religion is claimed as the cause — and by those who know that it is not — it only makes finding a resolution more difficult. The government has taken action to mediate, to bring the two groups together in peace and unity. But we also need all parties to follow the teachings of the scriptures, and encourage reconciliation rather than cause division. As it is said: “Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear?” (Mark 8.18). As our constitution codifies, politicising religion has no place in Nigeria; for it makes us turn away from one another; it makes us retreat into our communities and walk different paths. I believe that there is a better way. To those who seek to divide, I still hold my hand out in brotherhood and forgiveness. I ask only that they stop, and instead encourage us to turn towards one another in love and compassion. Nigeria belongs to all of us. This is what I believe. https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2018/11/i-am-a-descendant-of-abraham-i-dont-hate-christians-president-buhari-says-2.html |

An awry event took place in the Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State involving a young lady named Blessing who suddenly lost her sanity after being dropped by some suspected internet fraudsters driving a Lexus SUV along the Ogun-Lagos State expressway. As she danced in public, speaking incoherently and playing around in a stinking gutter, many assumed that she was jinxed by ritualists. This sounded believable due to the spate of ritual killings across Nigeria with youths desperate for quick money fingered in the criminality. But people who have had personal ecounters with Blessing and her family members believe the media reports are false. They took to their social media accounts to reveal that the 300 level student of the department of Political Science, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba in Ondo State who was on her way to Lagos State has been battling with mental crisis. A graduate of her school explained that she must have had an attack while being conveyed to Lagos by the guys who might have panicked and decided to drop her on the road and zoom off to avoid further complications. Further accounts on social media also corroborated the reports of her on and off incidents of mental imbalance which is also troubling her brother. They explained that her family has sort orthodox treatment as well as spiritual intervention but all to no avail. The state of Blessing still remains unknown but she has been taken off the street by Good Samaritans. He lamented over the state of some roads in Imo and alleged that the governor did nothing in eight years. “I am not against Rochas, now we under hold-up, Weldral road, the suncity construction company that is handling Weldra, the road has been under construction for six to seven months now, no headway, the hold-up, the erratic bottle-neck traffic gridlock that is causing in this Weldra road is something that Nigeria as a whole should be concerned about,” he said. “Rochas is a hypocrite, eight years in office he did nothing, now he’s trying to bring in some kind of modalities so that we’ll not send him to prison. Rochas is going to prison, he wanted to bring in Ogunba to cover up his atrocities, and will still be manipulating Ogunba against us, it cannot be, it cannot be.
