Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and his wife, Hajiya Aisha Ummi Garba El-Rufai, have welcomed their fourth child together.

The baby has been named Fatima Layan El-Rufai.

The Governor's sons, Bashir and Bello, shared photos from the ceremony held to welcome the addition to their family.

“With the latest El-Rufai in town. Fatima Layan. Allah ya raya mana. So glad to have Aunty Umms back,” Bello wrote.

Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s president-elect, has congratulated King Charles III of the United Kingdom on his coronation.

The coronation took place on Saturday at London’s Westminster Abbey.

King Charles III is the first to be inaugurated since 1937, and he is taking over the reign after the demise of Queen Elizabeth II, his mother in September 2022.

In a letter, Tinubu said he looked forward to engaging on different issues in the future with the newly crowned King, expressing hopes that the bilateral relationship between the UK and Nigeria would be stronger.

“It is heartwarming that your accession to the throne is coming after the 70-year reign of your iconic mother, Queen Elizabeth II, whose death last September left the entire world in grief, given her eventful reign,” he said.

“Bearing your unique place in history as the first King to be inaugurated in Britain since 1937, I trust that you will follow in the glorious footsteps of your late mother and even surpass her achievements in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

“Particularly remarkable about you is your love for the environment, importantly your lifelong crusade for sustainability and biodiversity.

“I hope that you will continue to push for these initiatives with kind eyes on the situation and plight of the underprivileged people in Africa and around the world.

“As the president-elect of the federal republic of Nigeria, I also hope that during your reign, the excellent bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Britain will continue and even become stronger in the interests of our two countries.

“I look forward to further engagements with you and the opportunity of a meeting in the near future as both of us had earlier indicated in discussions with mutual friends and associates.

“Once again, I rejoice with you on your coronation and pray that God Almighty grant you strength and wisdom and make your reign successful for the benefit of not only the people of Great Britain but for the entire world.”

In what will come across as a really unbelievable development, Luz Maida, a 3-year-old girl has been r*ped and killed.

The girl was r*ped and killed after her mother allegedly sold her to a drug dealer in exchange for crack cocaine in Pedro Juan Caballero, the capital city of Paraguay.

Luz Maida was awakened by her mother, Aurelia Salinas, in the middle of the night and pushed into the arms of her drug dealer boyfriend.

Salinas, 42, reportedly took the toddler in exchange for 30 pieces of crack cocaine, worth about $12.

CCTV footage heartbreakingly shows little Luz trying to tear herself away from the strange man her mother handed her over to.

He can be seen slapping her with his free hand to stop her fidgeting, the Sun reports.

Just over 24 hours later, the girl’s body was found by horrified
neighbors inside an abandoned house.

Her corpse was found covered in a shirt and placed on top of a bed after the dealer, who has not been named, reportedly r*ped and murdered the 3-year-old, a report by the Daily Mail states.

Initial reports suggest the 3-year-old was suffocated.

Angry locals attempted to lynch Salinas as she was being arrested after allegedly confessing her involvement in her daughter’s murder to police, local media said.

Her boyfriend later confessed to the murder, the report added.

Salinas initially told police Luz had disappeared in her sleep, but after cops discovered the CCTV footage, she admitted to selling her for crack cocaine.

The 42-year-old has been arrested along with her boyfriend and another 17-year-old who is also believed to be involved.

Cops have allegedly said Salinas was under the influence of drugs and seemed unbothered about her daughter’s whereabouts while they searched for her.

It has also been reported that more than 300 locals attended Luz’s funeral and a group of neighbors later burned down the house where her corpse was discovered.

Investigators have claimed the family had a “history of tragedies” after the mom of eight allegedly allowed her 12- year-old daughter to be sexually abused by a 30-year-old man.

Both cases are undergoing investigation.

Nigerian man in shock after Lagos state Automatic Number Plate Recognition camera caught himbdriving with expired car papers and got automatically fined N60k

A Nigerian man residing in Lagos state has taken to Twitter to lament after he was sent an automated billing ticket of N60, 000 for breaking the law. The Lagos state Automatic Number Plate Recognition camera had captured him breaking traffic laws and an automated bill was sent to him as his fine.

According to the billing ticket, the man was indicted for driving with an expired license, expired Insurance as well as an invalid roadworthiness certificate.

Reacting after he received the bill, the man via his Twitterbhandle, wrote

His tweet elicited reactions as some other people shared their experiences of how the cameras caught them breaking the law and fined them.

The Delta North senator-elect, Ned Nwoko, has said it is impossible to stop the four-year term of the President-elect,
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, after the May 29 inauguration.

Nwoko explained that once the President-elect was sworn in, the petition filed against him at the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal in Abuja, might not see the light of day.

Obi had filed a petition to challenge Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.

Obi, who came third in the election, in his petition, alleged that the election was characterised by irregularities, praying that Tinubu’s victory be annulled.

Nwoko, however, stated that the Labour Party’s poor assessment of the situation and unrealistic expectations led to its defeat.

Nwoko, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, said had the opposition parties teamed up, they would have trounced the ruling APC in the election, given the poor performance of the current APC regime, led by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Nwoko reiterated that an alliance government would have been the perfect opportunity for Obi to “save” Nigeria’s economy as he avowed in his campaigns.

He stated that it was now near impossible to stop Tinubu from becoming President despite the petitions signed against him, once inaugurated.

Nwoko said, “Once Tinubu is inaugurated as President, he takes charge of everything. He becomes the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces; he orders them and uses them as he wishes. He appoints new Chief Justice upon recommendation by the judicial council.

“So, you see, it is almost impossible to stop him from completing his four years tenure.

“Moving forward, the PDP and Labour Party have to come to terms and make next election more strategic. Natural alliance between both parties is the only way to save Nigeria from this inauspicious government.”

The senator-elect maintained that the ruling APC would have suffered a severe defeat in the presidential poll if the oppositions had aligned.

He further pinned the blame on the Labour Party and ‘Obidients’, stressing that they were too self-absorbed to give room for logical reasoning.

The lawmaker stated, “It would have been a landslide victory for the opposition if the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party had worked together.

An Ikeja high court on Wednesday sentenced a carpenter identified as Onyekachi Agu to seven years imprisonment for pouring acid on his ex-girlfriend and her new lover.

Agu, 32, was arraigned before the court on a one-count charge of grievous harm.

The offense was said to contravene section 245 of the criminal law of Lagos state, 2015.

During the trial, Oyindamola Ogala, the presiding judge, said the suspect lied and rescinded his confessional statement in an attempt to avoid punishment.

Ogala said the suspect also failed to present his brother who he claimed he was with on the day of the incident.

The judge held that the action of the victim was deliberate, adding that he was guilty of the charge against him.

“The defendant tried to mislead the court by claiming to have been with his brother on the said day but he failed to corroborate his evidence by giving the date and day he visited him,” the judge said.

“His brother who he tried to use as an alibi, was nowhere to be found to give evidence before this court.

“Pouring a corrosive substance on the victims was never contradicted by the defendant.

“The action of the defendant was considered an intention.

“The victims showed to the court, the level of damage to their bodies.

“The testimony of the defendant’s former lover on how she had been harassed and assaulted by him, later led to their separate ways after three years of relationship.

“In view of the evidence before the court, I hereby find the defendant guilty of the charge against him, and he is hereby sentenced to seven years jail term.”

The prosecution counsel said the carpenter committed the offense against Aishat Adefarati, his ex-girlfriend, and Monsuru Ahmed, her new lover, at Gangare Hotel, Mile 12 area of Lagos on July 3, 2020.
