A 30-year-old Nollywood actor, Temitayo Ogunbusola, has allegedly stabbed his neighbour, Oladotun Osho, to death following a disagreement over the payment of electricity bill.

The incident happened on Sunday at No. 4 Sebil Kazeem Street in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.

Temitayo was said to have been beaten to a pulp by a mob before the intervention of policemen from the Ikotun Police Station.

The remains of the victim were deposited in a morgue for autopsy.

PUNCH Metro gathered that trouble started when a resident of the house, one Banjo, demanded the payment of the electricity bill from the other occupants.

However, Temitayo was alleged to have refused to pay his share of the bill, which led to an argument between him and Banjo.

The suspect was said to have in a fit of anger taken a dagger with which he threatened to stab Banjo.

It was gathered that Oladotun, who was coming into the compound with his brother and friend, saw Temitayo, who was searching for Banjo to stab him.

When Temitayo could not find his target, he reportedly directed his aggression at Oladotun and stabbed him in the chest.

Oladotun’s sister, Ronke Akindipe, who spoke with PUNCH Metro, alleged that the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case tried to cover it up by not informing the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikotun Police Station, because the suspect was a known face at the station.

She said, “The landlord does not stay in the house, so the person in charge of the electricity bill in the house went to the tenants on Sunday to tell them to settle the bill, but when he got to Temitayo’s apartment to ask for his share of the bill, an argument ensued between them and Temitayo threatened to break the man’s head.

“Banjo ran out of the compound and brought his brother, who is a soldier, and his colleagues and when they came, he was taken to the Ikotun Police Station to write an undertaken that he would not touch Banjo and others in the compound.

“When Temitayo got home, he started threatening to break Banjo’s head for daring to report him at the police station and when Banjo came back, other neighbours told him to run away and Temitayo started pursuing him in the compound.

“Oladotun and one of our brothers and his friend did not have a clue as to what was going on in the compound and they entered, because it did not cross my brother’s mind that he was going to stab him, because the disagreement was between Banjo and Temitayo.

“When Temitayo could not find Banjo, he stabbed my brother in the chest and my brother started shouting for help. When my other brother bent down to carry Oladotun, Temitayo attempted to stab him in the back, but for the intervention of their friend, who used his hand to block the assailant. My brother was rushed to hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“After the incident, people went after Temitayo and almost beat him to a pulp, but the police came to rescue him and took him away to the station. The IPO in charge of the case tried to change the narrative at the station by asking my dad if my brother had an underlying disease for him to have died from stabbing.

“We later learnt that the IPO did not inform the DPO about the matter until we saw the DPO and explained everything to him, and when he called the IPO, he started giving excuses on why he did not report the matter. The suspect was not feeling remorseful for what he did when the case was still with the IPO, but when the DPO intervened, he started feeling remorseful.

“We want justice; we don’t want them to release a criminal to start walking freely on the street, because if not for the DPO, the IPO would have released him as he was bringing up excuses for the suspect.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to our correspondent, stated that Temitayo was beaten by a mob and he needed to be fit for trial before he could be charged.

He said, “The report we got was that there was a misunderstanding between two neighbours and one stabbed the other and the suspect narrowly escaped mob action because of the timely intervention of the police.

“He is in our custody. The DPO reported the matter to the command headquarters, but the suspect was battered by the mob and we cannot detain him like that; so, he has to be treated under guard. He cannot stand trial the way he is. As soon as he is fit to stand trial, he will be in court.”

“Twilight” actor Gregory Tyree Boyce and his Nigerian girlfriend Natalie Adepoju have been found dead.

Boyce, 30, best known for playing Tyler Crowley in 2008’s “Twilight” and 27-year-old Adepoju were pronounced dead in a Las Vegas residence on May 13 around 5 p.m.

In “Twilight”, Boyce’s character Tyler Crowley is a classmate of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) who nearly hits Swan with his van, only for her to be saved by vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).

The cause of the couple’s deaths have not been revealed. According to the E! News, it was the actor’s cousin who found the bodies of Boyce and girlfriend Adepoju. “Greg’s cousin woke up and noticed that Greg’s car was still at the house. He was worried because Greg was to be in LA. His cousin went to check on him and found them,” a source told the publication.

Boyce’s mother, Lisa Wayne paid tribute to her son in a post on social media. She said Boyce had been working to open a wing shop called West Wings, with sauces named after West Coast rappers.

“My baby boy, Greg Boyce was the best chef….oh man. He was in the process of starting a wing business, West Wings. He created the flavors to his perfection and named them after west coast rappers. Snoop Dog, Kendrick Lamar, Roddy Ricch, The Game, etc. He had flavors like, Tequila Lime Agave…those were my favorite. A Hennessy Maple flavor, oh man, just so damn good. I can say that my son was my favorite chef. He was on to something great and that was his passion…”

In an Instagram post, Boyce reflected on life when he turned 30 in December 2019.

“At one point I didn’t think I would make it to see 30 years old. Over the years like everyone else I have made mistakes along the way, but today is one of those days I only reflect on the great ones. What a time to be alive. Happy Dirty 30 self! Let’s make the rest of these years your best!”

Boyce is survived by his mother and his 10-year-old daughter, Alaya

Natalie Adepojou’s family launched a GoFundMe account with a $15,000 goal. The family chose not to reveal the cause of death and asked their wishes to be respected.

“However, due to the sudden passing and the need to bring Natalie home, we are asking if you can help with any monetary donation,” organizer Mariah Megginson wrote. “Natalie had so much life to live we are saddened that her life was cut short. Natalie leaves behind her one son, her father, 2 brothers and 1 sister, and a host of family and friends who love her dearly. Any amount would help send our baby home the proper way.”

Dokpesi Asks AIT, Raypower To Pull Down Comment On COVID-19, Son Expresses Disappointment, Vows Not To Grant Interview To Both Media Houses Again

Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR Communications Plc, owners of Africa Independent Television and Raypower, has asked both broadcast stations to stop airing his comment on COVID-19.

Dokpesi had in a recent video said he was confused on the difference between COVID-19 and malaria as all drugs he was given while in isolation were malaria medications.

He said, “What’s the difference between COVID-19 and malaria? Every drug we were given were malaria medications.

"A number of persons who tested positive were checked in reputable labs, hospitals in Abuja and were found to have malaria parasites in their bloodstreams. When did malaria become synonymous with COVID-19?”

But in an internal memo to staff of the two stations on Sunday, the media mogul said he had settled with the Nigerian Government and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control over the issue.

He said, “I write to request you to discontinue referencing the comments and views expressed by both the founder, Engr. Raymond A.A Dokpesi, and the Chairman, Chief Raymond Dokpesi Jnr, in all your news bulletins and in fact bring them down from your official websites for now.

“Very senior citizens and elders have argued and I agree with them that I should have addressed a private message to the PTF and the Presidency rather than cast aspersions on their methods thereby creating doubts in the minds of the public.

"I also agree to an immediate truce.”

But in a swift reaction upon his own release from isolation center, Dokpesi Jnr said caution must be exercised in comparing Coronavirus to malaria.

Apparently slighted by his father’s censorship of his views, Dokpesi Jnr was said to have told some DAAR Communication staff that he will not grant any more interview to his father's media organisation.

He said, “I note and observe that the Facebook link that started trending has been taken down. I regret the action but reserve comment.

“Please note that this was my last interview with any DAAR Communications PLC media and I will never grant this media house comment on any issue whatsoever.

"If you have interest in any comment I may have, you may report it from other media houses or from my personal social media comments.

"Please do not even consider approaching me for any comments. Official comments regarding DAAR Communications PLC shall henceforth be routed via press release through the ED Corporate Communications or the Company Secretary.”

The lockdown declared in Borno state has
been suspended indefinitely.

The state government has also relaxed the
ban on religious gatherings, but called for
strict guidelines on maintaining physical
distancing in mosques and churches.
Meanwhile, the ban on Eid prayers are still
in force.

Umar Kadafur, deputy governor and
chairman of the state COVID-19 response
committee, made this known in a
statement.

According to him, the “stringent measures”
taken to limit the spread of the coronavirus
“yielded the desired results”, as the state
had recorded “significant progress” in the
fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He, however, noted that if the COVID-19
situation escalates, the government would
revert to “status quo”.

“Henceforth, Jumma’at prayers and five
daily prayers shall be observed in all
mosques as recommended by the Borno
State Council of Ulamas in strict adherence
with social distancing and the use of face
masks,” the statement read.

“All churches shall conduct church services
as recommended by the Christian
Association of Nigeria (CAN) Borno Chapter
in strict adherence with social distancing
and use of face masks.

“Government has considered the
recommendation of the Borno State Council
of Ulamas which clearly states that Eid
prayers is Sunnah (non obligatory), hence
there should be no Eid prayers. Faithfuls
should remain at home during the period.”

The government also placed restrictions on
public gatherings, especially funeral
processions, weddings, naming ceremonies,
among others, which it limited to not more
than 20 people.
