https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eabe021e357d.jpg A White woman has died mysteriously after she ignored warnings from social media users when she revealed her plans to dabble into voodoo and summon an African spirit known as Papa Legba. Katelyn “Kat” Restin, a 19-year-old Virginia woman, was found dead after she allegedly drowned in a bathtub according to one of her friends. People are blaming her death on her practicing Haitian Vodou summoning spells. Restin died two days after she claimed that she saw Papa Legba apparently after a summoning spell people warned her not to try. Papa Legba is one of the best known figures in African spirituality. He serves as an intermediary between man and the spirit world. Several movies have been made about him, including the American horror story "Coven". https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eabe0b51677f.jpg Kat Restin was part of a group on social media that practiced spells, and one day she decided to go into voodoo. Twitter and Facebook users warned her not to try it but she insisted and said everyone should be allowed to practice whatever spirituality they want to practice. https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eabe051f2585.jpg She added: "Shut the f*** up and let me be." Some of her friends also defended her decision. https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eabe07671ca7.jpg Three weeks after the post, and other posts showing her practicing voodoo, she made a post stating she saw Papa Legba. She added that she was "scared". https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eabe0951809f.jpg Unfortunately, Kat Restin died two days later. Someone in her group, who claims to commune with the spirits, stated that they did a reading on the late Kat Restin and it wasn’t Papa Legba she saw but another dreaded spirit, Baron Samedi. https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eabe0f6db3af.jpg https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eabe1115c855.jpg Friends have taken to Twitter and Facebook to mourn Restin's death. However, some said she doesn't deserve their pity. Restin's obituary states that her cause of death was sudden. The obituary reads: "Katelyn is survived by her daughter Aaliyah Hope Restin, mother Terry Restin, father John Restin, brothers Kevin and Ryan (Blakely) Restin; aunts, Margaret Volk, Mary (Rick) Page, Betty (Joe) Aukward; Uncle, Eric (Susan) Restin, and many cousins and other relatives, all of who she loved and touched deeply." The family has set up a GoFundMe for Katelyn’s death. https://sundiatapost.com/white-woman-dies-mysteriously-after-summoning-an-african-spirit-using-voodoo-photo/ lalasticlala

https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eac565cb8f61.jpg A widow who has 8 children with nothing to feed them, was forced to boil stones to trick her children into having hope that they'll soon eat. Peninah Bahti Kitsao, a widow who lives in Mombasa, Kenya, worked as a local laundrywoman before the lockdown. However, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, her customer base drastically dwindled and she could no longer raise enough money for feeding. On Tuesday, April 28, as she watched her children cry due to hunger, she was forced to boil stones to deceive them into thinking that food was on the way. She hoped that they would fall asleep while waiting for the food. However, the children did not sleep off and a neighbor who heard them crying went over to see what was going on. According to her neighbour, Prisca Nyakaragio Momanyi, she heard the children’s cries and rushed to check on the matter, only to find that their mother had boiled stones. Prisca shared her neighbour's plight with people and the story made it to the local and international media. The widow was interviewed by Kenya's NTV and this prompted donations from a number of people. https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5eac56822adda.jpg The widow said she could not believe people would come to her rescue the way they did, calling everything a big miracle. https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2020/5/poor-mother-cooks-stones-to-trick-her-8-hungry-children-into-hoping-that-theyll-soon-eat.html |

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, on Thursday, appealed to Nigerians to donate their buildings as isolation centres. Ehanire made the appeal at the press briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja. He said as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control aimed to test two million people in the next three months more buildings would be needed as isolation centres. The minister stated, “I have appealed to citizens to make their property available temporarily for this purpose. I am sure that after that, there are many property owners who will come up and donate to state governments for a period of time to be used for this function. “We are not out of space now but we are making the appeal ahead of time so that we have these facilities ready.” Ehanire said that he was aware that the hazard allowance of health workers in the frontline of COVID-19 fight was being negotiated, but said that it did not include that of environmental health personnel. Ehanire stated also that test capacity of the 15 laboratories in Nigeria had reached 2500. He, therefore, called on Nigerians to take advantage of the facilities. https://punchng.com/donate-your-buildings-as-isolation-centres-minister-begs-nigerians/ |

The Enugu State Police Command has commenced investigation into the death of five members of a family in the outskirts of Enugu metropolis in Enugu State. The sixth member of the family, a boy, was however found in coma and had been rushed to a hospital The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Enugu. Ndukwe said that the incident took place at City Estate Layout, Amokpo-Nike near Enugu on Wednesday, April 29, in the morning. “The command’s knowledge of the unfortunate development followed a complaint received on April 29 at about 2.00 p.m. at Unity Police Station of a sudden and unnatural death of a family of six at City Estate Layout, Amokpo-Nike, Enugu. “The operatives of the station, led by its Divisional Police Officer, SP Siga Malgwi, immediately moved to the location where they saw them lying lifeless in a room. “The building was cordoned off, while Enugu East Local Government Health Authorities were contacted for examination and evacuation of the bodies. “However, in the course of disinfecting the building before the evacuation, the only son of the family, Arinze Onyekwe, was found to be in coma. “Arinze was immediately rushed to the hospital where he is said to be recovering,” he said. According to him, corpses of five members of the family have been evacuated to the hospital for autopsy. “Other members of the family whose bodies have been evacuated to the hospital for medical autopsy included: Dominic Onyekwe, husband; Chinaza Onyekwe, wife, who is suspected to be pregnant; Chioma, Oluebube and Blessing their daughters,” he said. The police spokesman said that the commissioner of police had ordered investigation to ascertain the cause of their death. https://tribuneonlineng.com/father-pregnant-wife-three-daughters-found-dead-inside-room-only-son-in-coma/ |

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EVyzftTX0AE-4Pr.jpg Facebook is adding a new way for its 2.5 billion users to express empathy and compassion. In response to the global coronavirus pandemic, Facebook will introduce two new “care” animated reaction emojis starting next week: There’s a yellow face hugging a heart for the core Facebook service, while in Messenger app it will appear as a pulsating, purplish heart. “We hope these reactions give people additional ways to show their support during the COVID-19 crisis,” a Facebook spokeswoman said in a statement. It’s the first expansion of Facebook’s emotional-reaction slate in over four years. In early 2015, it added five new emoji — for love, sadness, anger, “wow” and laughing — to the original iconic “like” reaction. Facebook users can add the new “care” reaction to posts, comments, images, videos or other content. To add a reaction, users hold down the Like button on mobile apps or hover over the Like button on the desktop version of the site to see the reaction-emoji options. For Facebook, the reactions are a key feature to spur users to connect on the platform — and ultimately spend more time on the service. By contrast, the company’s Instagram service has been leaning in the opposite direction: Instagram is testing hiding “like” counts , as a way to reduce competitive popularity-contest pressure on users. Facebook to date has resisted introducing a “dislike” button: In the past, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said the company didn’t just want to add what would amount to a “down- vote” option. With the exception of “angry,” Facebook has steered clear of other negative emotions like disgust or jealousy. The social service had a special “thankful” purple-flower reaction — but that was available only for Mother’s Day in 2016 and 2017. Meanwhile, Facebook in the next weeks plans to start showing warning messages in News Feed to users who have liked, reacted or commented on “harmful misinformation about COVID-19 that we have since removed,” VP of integrity Guy Rosen wrote in a blog post . The notices will provide info on COVID-19 hoaxes that have been debunked by the World Health Organization. On Thursday, Zuckerberg announced that Facebook has canceled all large in-person events it had planned through June of 2021 because of the coronavirus outbreak. Most Facebook employees will be required to work from home through at least the end of May 2020. https://variety.com/2020/digital/news/facebook-new-emojis-care-reaction-covid-19-1234583228/ |

A credible source told our Correspondent that the two unidentified inmates, who escaped and now at large, had access through the wall of the women wing of the Sapele facility. Trouble started in the prison yard when some of the inmates were granted amnesty by the state government. The State Government had recently granted amnesty to 150 inmates across the state as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus. The government’s action, Daily Trust gathered, stirred discontent among inmates, who began to revolt against what they described as ‘selective amnesty’,insisting they all deserved equal treatment as prisoners. The source further disclosed that about five other inmates, who also attempted to escape, were forcefully brought down, badly injured and are now receiving treatment at the Sapele Central Hospital. Another source, a security personnel, said; “the prisoners are totally misinformed, they thought that COVID-19 amnesty granted was for every one. So they are insisting it is for all of them. He continued: “How can the amnesty be for all of them, when we have murderers, rapists, and other high level criminals among them? There are conditions for the amnesty and they should know that.” The NCoS Public Relations Officer in the state, Onome Onowakpoyeya, who confirmed the report, said: “Yes, it is true. Two inmates escaped in the early hours of Tuesday and six were maimed; they were shot while attempting to escape too and they have been hospitalised.” She said a discreet search party had been dispatched to comb the area of jailbreak for the fleeing inmates. She, however, declined to give out the names and other information of the fleeing inmates as it could be counter productive to the ongoing search. The NCoS spokesperson disclosed that the other five inmates and the Correctional Officers, who sustained injuries during the jailbreak, are currently recuperating at the hospital. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/jailbreak-2-inmates-escape-six-shot-at-sapele-custodial-centre.html |

- Old buildings in Nigeria have both colonial and historical significance - Some of them with a colonial touch are Christ Church Cathedral in Lagos and Lagos Colonial Secretariat - On the other hand, they speak on pre- colonial times as could be seen with Oba of Benin Palace Architectural designs are some of the attractions that draw tourists into a country. And one peculiar thing about them is that they speak about the time they are built- in. Some of the very revered buildings in Nigeria are Christ Church Cathedral in Lagos, Jaekel House in Lagos, Lagos Colonial Secretariat, first European storey building in Nigeria, Badagry, Kajuru Castle in Kaduna, Oba of Benin Royal Palace in Benin, and Lugard Hall in Kaduna. 1.
