Nigeria Govt. Has Received Over 400,000 Messages From Whistleblowers – Lai Mohammed

The Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Friday, said the Federal Government has received no fewer than 400,000 telephone messages from whistleblowers on looted funds. He said Federal Government’s optimism rests on Nigerians’ massive embrace of the policy.

A web portal, http://whistle.finance.gov.ng, has been launched by the Whistleblower Unit (WBU), a multi-agency team, resident in Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters, an “online portal through which information bordering on violation of financial regulations, mismanagement of public funds and assets, financial malpractice or fraud and theft that is deemed to be in the interest of the public can be disclosed.”

The Minister advised more Nigerians to “take advantage of the Federal Government’s Whistleblower Policy even though it is clear that people’s interest is being sustained.

Highlights:

“As of 21st September this year, we had received a number of communication totaling 2940 and this includes enquiries, tips, compliments and general advice from the public.

“We have received, through our Whistleblower website, 208 enquiries , and 1580 telephone calls.
Government, he added, has recently received 35 classified tips and another set of 546 unclassified ones.

“We have received 79 tips through telephone calls; 413, 213 through SMS and 145 through our websites.

“Through e-mails, we received 109,” he said.

“From all the tips received and reviewed, only 321 have been deemed to be actionable. These are tips that can be worked upon for further action,” he stated.

Mohammed said on February that the policy had yielded $136,676,600.51 from an account in a commercial bank, where the money was kept under an apparently fake account name.

This was followed by the recovery of N7 billion and $15 million from another person and 1 billion Naira from yet another.
This is besides the $9.2 million in cash traced to a former Group Managing Director of the NNPC. In all, over $160million had been recovered in February.

Later in June, the Federal Ministry of Finance said it had paid N375.8 million to 20 providers of information under the Whistleblower Policy.

RomanceGroom Plays Video Of Bride Cheating With Another Man At Their Wedding Dinner by exlinklodge(op): 5:31pm On Oct 06, 2017
Guests at a traditional Chinese wedding dinner were watching a lovely montage of their relationship, before the tape was cut to reveal incriminating footage of the bride entering a hotel room with another man, with whom she was captured behaving intimately.

It turns out that the groom, a local businessman, had wanted to publicly shame his wife at their wedding dinner after a private investigator he had hired to tail her captured evidence of his bride’s cheating.

Interestingly, the private investigator – 42-year-old Ms Zhuo of Ajax Investigation & Security Services – was present at the wedding.

Recounting the tale to the Chinese daily, Ms Zhou said that the couple were already engaged and that the wedding dinner preparations had been made when the groom engaged her services to tail his fiancee.

After one and a half months of close surveillance, Ms Zhou caught the bride-to-be entering a hotel room with her lover. The couple were seen entering the hotel room, and after some time left the room one after the other.

Assuming that the businessman would cancel his wedding as soon as he saw evidence of the infidelity, Ms Zhou submitted the photos to him. However, she was surprised to later receive an invite to his wedding.

It was only when she attended the dinner that she understood the groom’s intention to publicly humiliate the bride. She alleges that after the video was played, the groom exited the banquet and told his bride to go to hell.

TSTV Finally Launch Its Services In Nigeria - Transmission Commenced Immediately - Photos

Yeeeelloooooo guys, TSTV is no longer a dream waiting to happen, it is now a reality and in fact a dream come true. This is the only pay tv that is poised to make some head roll in Nigeria. TSTV has finally launched in Nigeria. What a wonderful news on Nigeria 57th independence day.

This pay-as-watch satellite tv owned by an indigene of Nigeria couldn't have come on a better time than this day that Nigeria got her independence. Is not coincidental guys because today, we as citizens has also gotten out independence from the South African MultiChoice that has monopolized our market here in Nigeria with exorbitant charges on their GoTv and DSTV services.

You can now enjoy all the amazing channels you want with as little as N3000 only. Best of all, you can subscribe for N2000, N1000, N500 and even N200. It is indeed amazing and I thank God it came to past in my time in Nigeria. I personally has already given up. I love competition and whoever pray for monopolistic market again in Nigeria, holy-ghost fire............

Politics12 Highlight Points From President Muhammadu Buhari's Speech On Independence Day by exlinklodge(op): 10:31am On Oct 01, 2017
Mr. President's Independence day speech highlighted a number of the issues affecting Nigeria currently. Ranging from the agitation for Biafra to the current state of the fight against corruption. The President did not mix words when he said and I quote "I will not let Nigeria be dismembered.

Below is the highlights of his speech...

1. "October 1st remains a special date for all Nigerians as this marks the day when we attained one of the most precious of human desires — freedom. "Over the years the country has gone through trials and tribulations, but October 1st is always a day for celebrations."

2. "We should remind ourselves of the recent journey from 1999 – 2015, when our country happily returned to democratic rule. "However, in spite of oil prices being an average of $100 per barrel and about 2.1m barrels a day, that great piece of luck was squandered and the country’s social and physical infrastructure neglected. We were left with no savings and huge infrastructure deficit."

3. "In the past two years, Nigeria has recorded appreciable gains in political freedom. A political party at the centre losing elections of state governor, national sssembly seat and even state assemblies to the opposition parties is new to Nigeria. "Added to these are complete freedom to associate, to hold and disseminate opinions. Such developments clearly attest to the country’s growing political development. But like all freedoms, this is open to abuse."

4. "Recent calls on re-structuring, quite proper in a legitimate debate, has let in highly irresponsible groups to call for dismemberment of the country. We can not and we will not allow such advocacy."

5. "As a young army officer, I took part from the beginning to the end in our tragic civil war costing about 2m lives, resulting in fearful destruction and untold suffering. Those who are agitating for a re-run were not born by 1967 and have no idea of the horrendous consequences of the civil conflict which we went through."

6. "I am very disappointed that responsible leaders of these communities do not warn their hot-headed youths what the country went through. Those who were there should tell those who were not there, the consequences of such folly."

7. "On security, Nigerians must be grateful to our gallant Armed Forces for rolling back the frontiers of Boko Haram’s terrorism, defeating them and reducing them to cowardly attacks on soft and vulnerable targets."

8. "Our Armed Forces in an effort to enhance the operational capability of troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have established mobile strike teams in the northeast. These will ensure the final push to wipe out the remnants of Boko Haram. "In addition, through targeted air strikes most of the leadership and identified logistics bases and routes of the insurgents have been neutralized. "The armed forces have established a naval presence in the Lake Chad Basin as part of the coordinated military efforts to curtail the movements or re-emergence of the sect in the area."

9. "Equally commendable are contributions of the governors of Ondo, Edo, Delta, Imo, Cross River, Benue, Ogun, Kaduna and Plateau states for their support for the presidential initiative for palm oil, rubber, cashew, cassava, potatoes and others crops."

RomanceA Woman Marries Herself After Failing To Find A Husband @ Age 40 - Photos by exlinklodge(op): 4:00am On Sep 30, 2017
Laura Mesi, a 40-year-old fitness instructor, married herself earlier in September in a full ceremony with four bridesmaids, a three-layer cake, watermelon, 70 guests and a $12,000 wedding dress, BBC reports.

"I firmly believe that each of us must first of all love ourselves," said Laura Mesi, a 40-year-old fitness trainer. "You can have a fairytale even without the prince."

Though the ceremony carries no legal weight, but Ms Mesi is part of a growing trend for self-marriage - dubbed "sologamy" - in countries around the world. Proponents of such ceremonies say it is about self-love and acceptance, and claiming the social affirmation normally reserved for couples who wed.

Laura says the idea of a solo wedding came to her two years ago, after a 12-year relationship ended.

"I told friends and family that if I had not found my soul-mate by my 40th birthday I would marry myself," she told La Repubblica newspaper. "If one day I find a man with whom I can plan a future I'll be happy, but my happiness does not depend on him."

Ms Mesi says she is the first Italian woman to hold a solo ceremony. In May, a man, Nello Ruggiero, said "yes" to himself in a ceremony in Naples. In Japan, a travel agency began offering bridal ceremonies for single women in 2014.

Reports of people marrying themselves go as far back as 1993. It has spawned a number of books and been a theme of episodes of Sex and the City and Glee. In the US, a website called I Married Me offers self-wedding kits. In Canada, an agency called Marry Yourself Vancouver which has been running for more than a year attributes the rise in solo weddings to the growing numbers of single people.

"Single is the new normal. Celebrate your solo status!" it urges.

But not everyone welcomes the trend, with some calling it narcissistic, and others criticising it as a pointless submission to a patriarchal institution. Among the congratulatory comments left on Ms Mesi's wedding photos are others: "So sad", "you're out of your mind" and "there's something wrong with your brain".

Last month, British self-wedder Sophie Tanner told BBC Three some people called her "a sad feminist". Ms Mesi has brushed off the catty comments, saying "nothing and no-one can turn off my smile".

But in media interviews she acknowledges that solo weddings might not be for everyone. To marry yourself, she says, you need a certain amount of money, the support of those around you, and - above all - "a pinch of madness".

PhonesNCC Orders MTN, Glo & Airtel & Others To Extend 30-day Data Expiry Period by exlinklodge(op): 3:38am On Sep 30, 2017
NCC Directs Telecoms Providers to Grant 14 Days Grace Period on Data Usage

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has directed all Telecoms Operators to give 14 -days grace for subscribers to exhaust their remaining data after the 30 days expiration period.

Ms. Hellen Obi, who represented the Executive Vice Chairman NCC, Professor Umar Danbata, stated this yesterday, in Minna, the Niger State capital ,at the Consumers Conversation Forum organised by the NCC to sensitise consumers on the need to follow the right channel in resolving issues with their service providers.

The NCC also advised the consumers that if their complaints are not solved by their network provider they can call NCC and lay their complaints, assuring them that the commission will take up the matter and resolve it, including asking the service provider to compensate the subscriber.

“NCC has mandated all network providers to give their subscribers 14 days of grace after the 30 days expiration of their data if they still have data left and cannot recharge to get their data rolled over,” she stated.

Obi declared 2017 as NCC Telecom Consumer year as a result of the consumer’s importance to the growth and development of the telecom industry.

She added: “The commission which is the independent regulatory authority for the telecommunications industry in Nigeria declared Year 2017 as NCC year of the telecom consumer in recognition of the importance of the consumer to the phenomenal growth and development in the telecoms sector.

“The year of telecom consumer, which was formally launched by NCC Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Danbata, is in tandem with the 8-point Agenda of the commission aimed to protect, educate, and empower consumers towards ensuring sustainable growth and further development in the Telecom sector.’’

Obi explained that the consumer conversation is designed to educate and inform consumers about their rights and privileges with their service providers.

The commission also articulated four strategic initiatives as key drivers of the Consumer Conversation including “Do-Not-Disturb” (DND) Service across all telecom networks, a service, which enables the consumer to stop receiving unwanted and unsolicited messages from telecom operators.

Others include, the NCC toll free Line 622, which enables consumers to report complaints pertaining to unresolved issues with their service providers, and improving quality of service.

She further said that the NCC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which mandates the CBN to advise the banks on enlightenment of their customers on fake messages that request them to send their Bank Verification Number (BVN) or account details.
