HealthRe: Aisha Edward: Sickle Cell Advocate Decries High Hospital Bill, Illegal Detention by Exmay(m): 11:33am On Oct 12, 2018
In as much as I empathise with this woman and all Sickle cell warriors, let it be known that the cost of caring for a patient shouldn’t be the responsibility of the hospital. The hospital have rendered service to you for treatment, the honourable step afterwards is to pay up. Sentiments shouldn’t be brought in.
For any Sickle cell warrior out there, my advise for you is to get yourself a good health insurance. This will help you get the best of treatment at any point in time.
And to all those about to start a family, please know your genotype.

Last time I checked this discussion is not about the misconduct of some Catholic monks.
Plus, where did you put Buddist and Hindus and other religions? Or did you think the reference to monks is limited to the Catholics alone?

Actually there is no research that proves that there is any increase in the occurrence of prostate cancer among monks who are celibate. This as negate all the myths surrounding Prostate Cancer and lack of sex.

Swizbank:
Remember, the contract between the federal govt and npower volunteers ends by this November, 5 months time, and over 200,000 youths will be out of pay .

Now to think, 30,000 is enough to make savings from is suicidal, unless those living with relations and feeding from them.

What is your opinion on this?

Should these 200,000 volunteers be ousted after 2years of service?

pls, give this a wider coverage. Thanks.
What is the aim of the training in the first instance? the stipends being paid to them is what it is not something to continually live on. they are supposed to apply their newly taught skills into fending for themselves.
there is no economy in the world that prosper by the government continually expanding the civil service.
let there be other beneficiaries too.
NYSCRe: Should I Resign From My Current P.P.A? by Exmay(m): 10:41am On Jun 15, 2018
CsRockefeller:
Good evening everyone, pls i really need your advice on this issue.

I was posted to an NGO for my service year in February, they got me a house without pay. In April we had a project on HIV and AIDS and I was paid 20k. Ever since, I just go to work and sit down from morning 8am till 5pm doing nothing, I started and finished Game of Thrones from 1 to 7.

Before I was posted in camp I always dreamt of teaching in a secondary school, because that's were my passion is and, I have an ambition of being a lecturer.

Now, I recently saw a school were I can teach for twice in a week, but my current ppa closes by 5pm, which means I only have my cds on Wednesday free to teach, I have taught twice, and I really love it and want to continue.

The problem is how do I tell my Director at my NGO that I want to leave? He has been good and nice to me and they rely on me to do a lot of clerical work in the office, but inside of me I'm not fulfilled and don't have time for myself.

Its 6 months into my service and I'm not feeling like I'm impacting any live or my community.

I want to summit my resignation letter by the end of the month, and focus on my students especially in economics and accounting, if I leave I will also leave their accommodation, that means I will be coming twice a week from my uncle's house which is far (N500) daily to the school.

I've been praying about this for a month now, and even discussed it with my mum with her giving me her blessings to leave, today my Director during a meeting said teaching profession is the best ever, I was wondering if that's a sign, and I'm also planning on visiting my grandma in August when schools are on break, an opportunity my NGO won't give me.

Guys, what's ur take?
Leave or stay?
Actually, since you will only be teaching in the school Twice a week, i will advise you to run it alongside your PPA. You will be reporting late or not at all on some days to your PPA, and be going to the school for teaching. once you are done for the day, you just go back to your PPA. just tell your immediate boss that you are doing some personal development stuff.
in light of this, you may need to put in extra effort at your PPA e.g by going to work after your weekly cds meet. but overall, its very possible fopr you to keep two jobs as a corper.

bhlesingglory:
Maybe you should start with what a 65years old Radiologist or physiotherapist or a pharmacist would contribute to the health sector
My point exactly. Why should they be asking for a blanket demand. Separate those you think will have something to contribute based on years of experience from those whose efficacy reduces with years.
Alas, they won’t do this because they need them to swell their numbers.
Decentralise JOHESU and let everyone fight for what they really deserve. Don’t let the minority hijack the association. Example of that is the agitation for a non Doctor becoming the CMD. We all know that only the minority stand to gain from this.

They know themselves.

They are the problem of Nigeria health system.
They are the one working underground to fight against johesu interest.
Lol... I’m sure you are implying the Doctors. Same old story. undecided undecided
HealthRe: Federal Health Workers Under The Umbrella Of JOHESU Embark On Indefinite Trike by Exmay(m):
Their 5th demand is highly ridiculous. How will adding 5 years to their retirement age improve the health sector. At that age, they will just be warming chair day I. Day out and be collecting money they don’t deserve.
Since JOHESU comprises of all health workers except Doctors. Please tell me what a 63 years old health assistant can do on the ward or what a 64years old Generator Technician will be doing in the Gen house?

I think the only reasonable demand is the 3rd one.
And all the noise about skipping, that is to the advantage of only the senior staff.

Thanks for your answer.
I can save about 500k. But is it ok for the salary account to be zero while I push my savings to my savings account?
Also my sponsor wants to use Western Union to send money to me monthly in lieu of bank transfer which I will keep in my savings account. The charges for transfer is on the high side $75 per transfer. So can she go ahead with Western Union?
I think I can help you a bit. I’m a Dr practicing in UK and I went thru Plab pathway.

I will advise that you keep your savings in your salary account for now.
Don’t quote 2m naira as your proposed cost when filling your visa. You should reduce the amount.
Also any money that your mum wants to send to you can be sent via Azimo(it is an app for transferring money, their rate is close to aboki’s own and their charges is negligible. That’s what I always use)

I intend to apply for a spouse visa for my wife immediately after our wedding later this year.
My question is do I have to use a Federal Registry (e.g Ikoyi), or just any legally recognised registry will do?
Also, can I get a list of documents I need to present to facilitate her visa?

Mobsync:
You are very right about this. In fact, this is how it happens most of the time.

But in certain instances, like this one where someone raised serious allegations after a loss of life, the affected staff is usually suspended.

This UCH incident is a very similar to another that happened in Queensland, Australia. The doctor was suspended after allegations were raised against him. The coroner investigation came after his suspension.
Just went through the article you cited. Unfortunately, I couldn't see any correlation. this is because the case wasn't discussed.
From the little that I got from there, it is obvious that it has already been established that there was a delay in service rendering thus leading to the suspension.
In the UCH's case in question, the alleged delay has been disproved.
Nobody goes on leave before being proven guilty in Medical practice.

I should have written under suspicious/controversial circumstances.
Hmmmm.... Actually, that is not correct also.
Medical personals will continue to work in their respective station until the conclusion of the coroner's investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. This can take as much as a year sometimes. if the person is found answerable, then he/she would have to face a disciplinary panel. You can't just excuse a Medical practitioner from duty like that.

"...with poor compliance to medications"

Standard practice dictates that in case of any incident leading to death, the affected staff(s) are supposed to go on paid/unpaid leave [depending o the circumstances] until investigations is concluded.
Just wanna answer the above-highlighted statement.
This statement is a complete lie. if all Staff in Accident emergency keeps going for leave anytime someone dies on their watch, I wonder who will remain on duty.
Even in the developed world, nobody goes on leave following a death on their watch. please don't confuse Police with Medical Practitioners.
Thank you.

Anybody that believes this write up is cool knows nothing about economics.
If you people like tell the government to scrap any denomination above N50, that will change nothing. The only way out is for us to reduce importation and increase exports. That is the only practicable way for Naira to get value. As far as Nigeria remain a consumer economy, Naira will continue to be shit.
