Hello |
Appreciation:To everyone who has contributed to making this thread a very useful one, thank you. I decided to do this first because I owe about 90% of all I did to this forum. I am grateful to you all for the wealth of information here. Decision to migrate – July 2018 WES I paid on July 24, sent a mail to my school with details and they posted transcripts to WES, DHL delivered to WES 31st July, but only received mail from WES that all documents had been received on the 23rd of August. Assessment was ready by Sept 12. Similar process for Spouse’s WES. IELTS I wrote my exams October 13 with LSRW: 8.5,7.5,7,6… I was eating and I HONESTLY lost appetite the day I saw these results; the dreaded writing! I still remember where I sat when I saw it… I started thinking plenty things, I wrote part 1 with a pen because I was more comfortable with it, by the time I saw this result, I was sure it was one of the reasons I did not pass….lol. I re registered immediately, but over that weekend, I had a meeting with my God and that changed everything. Requested a remark for writing and by 16th November, writing remark came back upgraded from 6 to 7! Spouse IELTS :LRWS– 6,6.5,6.5,7.5 Needless to say I had to practically force him to take IELTS, he gave me the money and we agreed a date, he kept postponing the date and I had to take mine without him, until I told him I had paid, he had no option! 75k no be beans…. I also paid for his WES when he kept posting me, before I got the money back weeks later, so you see, you gotta keep at it. ITA We dived into the pool on the 1st of December with 442, hoping for a Miracle for low cut off the next few days or we would have to rewrite IELTS. By 19th December, the miracle draw of 439 gave us ITA. Medicals Medicals was done in February with Qlife, I went to their office with my ITA to book. We arrived there about 6am on the test day as the 2nd on the queue. We eventually left 12pm/1pm because…… Hubby has a little history of HBP, so his reading had to be taken 3 times, I must say doctor was really nice, he asked him to rest/relax a bit and come back. He also asked him to go do creatinine test to rule out other things. That came back negative and the final BP reading was within allowed limits for BP. It was not a funny thing o, the guy was sweating inside AC…..lol . Then a few days later, Qlife called that he needed to redo his Xray, because it wasn’t clear…. Hehe village people, how far now we fired prayers to the north, south, east and west….ok really nothing serious, they just needed to redo, and he was cleared. MEP: March 30PCC (Nigeria) was at Alagbon for N3,500 each, spent about an hour. Then, we both requested UK PCC. Spouse had his MBA in block modes from the UK and had to visit every few months to take lectures although he never spent more than 3 weeks at a go. So we initiated his UK PCC, basically to sleep better. However the placeholder for UK PCC came up at some point then disappeared, but eventually, i think it wasn’t required, I however merged both. Whatever makes you sleep well….. POF We used: • Tbills and Mutual funds from Axa Mansard (Axa Mansard gave us a letter showing all funds in CIC format) • Mutual savings/insurance from spouse and I (We asked them to give us a letter in CIC format) • Letters from our banks in CIC format. We didn’t print statements since we had the letters in CIC format from GTB. We also didn’t present a joint account and did not move money to my account, so we just wrote a consent letter that I have access to all funds for this purpose. Having learnt from here, I did a summary page with a breakdown of each document on the first page and the amount (Naira and CAD equivalent) in all of the financial documents for ease of reference. Page 1- Summary of Documents and value Page 2- Spouse consent letter Subsequent pages – everything else from both of us Name Change I had small headache about this…..My father changed his last name when I was in secondary school so did I, but I have no legal document to myself asides his own document for change of name which I uploaded as proof. I once had serious issues with this outside Nigeria so I also had an LOE to explain that the change of name was when I was a minor and it was not necessary to have a legal name change to myself at the time. I had also also attached my birth certificate somewhere in the application with our former surname, plus my dad’s current passport data page. I am still using my maiden name so I did not have to present any other legal name change document. Reference letter I did my JD myself and sent to HR to do the letter. I attached my 6 months’ pay slips and wrote an LOE (first page) that I was just promoted so my salary on the letter from HR at the time would be different from what is on all my payslips since I had not been paid the new salary. I also attached the promotion letter. Post ITA We submitted on the 13th February, and received AOR same day. March 30th I got an ADR for Schedule A, at this point, I was wondering why, was it because I stated that I worked with the Government in England but this was just civil service, nothing serious. I wondered if it was UK visa refusal (spouse and I had one refusal each), or maybe because I didn’t state the jobs I had with agencies in my personal history, but that was during my Msc so it would overlap, anyway, I submitted it March 6th, I was going to attach my UK refusal letter but I never found it till recently. I was also worried my travel history might land me in LVO or It may take a bit longer to process my application. MEP arrived April 10, we completed it on the 24th, and that was the last time we heard from CIC till PPR. I later raised webform to know my VO and received response a week later on July 5. So, I already told myself I wouldn’t bother with gcms until after 6 months, but as I began to hear things like NOC wahala, i was secretly changing my resolve o. Then my friend who lives in Canada also encouraged me to, and offered to do it. I filled the form on June 19 and she sent it. July 23, she sent a mail asking why there was a delay as it was past 30 calendar days, next day, GCMS was sent and all that was passed was criminality (as at June 20)! I saw something like case parked due to schedule A bla bla, and I am like okay, let’s carry mat. June 16th we decided to pay RPRF as it wasn’t paid when we submitted, so I was surprised when it was not reflecting in the GCMS but I figured it had not been reviewed. I am not the regular profile checker so once in a week or 2, I check. I did not notice a ghost update too as I did not check my profile for about a week before I saw request letter in my email, and then logged in to see there had been a ghost update but no letter yet, even as at now, just the email from Ottawa. On July 25, a few people reported ghost update in my group so I tried to log in at night without success, and went to bed at about 11pm. Woke up and just as I was about to step out for work, I decided to check my work mail, What I saw made me late to work lol, PPR had landed the night before at about 10:28pm, while I was battling with logging in to the site. To God be all the Glory, I did not have the most perfect application neither did I know it all, I am just a product of mercy…. I pray for success in everyone’s application. Expresso17: |
You don't need to explain anything in LOE, just make sure your marriage certificate is included. I did not have to. Jesusbabygirl: |

Congrats! Please do you mind sharing a sample of the reference letter from the education savings plan for PoF or the letter of request you sent to them. I just need an idea what to ask FBN to write. Boom12: |
Hello All I was at Q life today to book an appointment, they asked for my ITA which I had with me, and was told the earliest date is Feb 8. So for those with ITA, I think you can try as you may get an earlier date than April. |
Anyone with a slot at Qlife for a family of 3 please help, anytime between now and 3rd week in January. God bless you. |
I can confirm this as well, used it for my proof of address for PCC. Very easy process! wasseynewest: |
I don’t think there is consistency with feedback on EOR. A friend requested his on Oct 8 and never received communication either of acknowledgment or sending to the EOR team. I did mine on October 30 and received both, with results ready by November 16. It was only after I received mine and he sent them a 2nd email that they responded that his Remark is ready and it was unchanged. I honestly don’t know if it was ever sent.... mojohnny: |
IELTS Testimony! IELTS test date was 13th October BC Results ready by 26th Oct -LRSW: 8.5 7 7.5 6 I was so sad especially because I fell ill about a month before the test so my practice reduced and the last week was meant to focus on writing. I was out of work for about a week and just resumed that week still not in the best of health and was required to rest, butI listened to tips from Liz and Jay, but could not practice, I read some books on writing as well. So I decided to go for a remark and asked God for mercy and speed, willing to stick to my faith on this.... EOR form was filled and submitted on the 30th October Received an email on the 7th that my EOR has been sent to the EOR Team on the 6th Nov and should expect feedback in 2-4 weeks from that date Received an email 16th Nov that result is ready, Writing was upgraded from 6 to 7! Praise the Lord for me please, my joy knows no bounds! Note that there was no change online, someone asked a few days back if it meant there was no upgrade, please pick up your new TRF to know your score, no assumptions, I nearly got scared when I read a certain response saying most likely not. I am really grateful to God please any ideas how long withheld results are released with BC? Hubby’s results for today were withheld for review as I wanted to pick my EOR and his TRF, don’t know why it’s withheld.. |
Okay I get it bankyh1905: |
Why do you need courier? I paid 207CAD and still received hard copy though I understand we don’t even need the hard copy... So even if it takes forever to deliver to you,you can make use of the soft copy, or is this for some other use? bankyh1905: |
Just thinking.... Government of Canada has a target of 74,900 invitations for the year 2018, they have issued 66,400 ITAs as at now. This means only 8500 is left for 2018 which is just about 2/3 draws....so are they going to increase the target or these figures are wrong or the year will be ending soon for ITAs |
WES received my transcript from my school on the 1st Aug, didn’t send me a mail for ECA completion date until August 23rd. Whatever transpired btw them and the school took 3 weeks plus additional 3 weeks so It just got updated sept 12th. So for me it took roughly 6 weeks in total. And that was for a UK school. Thank you! I dont want to pay beyond that 45 pounds ![]() That's why i want to start early, does it expire? Adaoh: |
Hello House, Okay i am just getting ready to write IELTS, waiting on WES to complete verification too as they have received my transcript, but I like to plan ahead to avoid delays. Has anyone done PCC in the UK but now lives in Nigeria, can i start the process now and does it expire? (I lived there within the last 10 years but now live in Nigeria), I read this on their site "The Standard and Premium service fees include 1st class postage to a UK address or standard airmail to an overseas address"--- It takes 10 days if i pay standard fees, Did the 10 days include postage to Nigeria? If not, how long did it take? The other option will be to send to a friend in the UK who will send to Nigeria for me when someone is coming, what do you advise? |

happytbaby:Thank you! Yes I have over 7 years work experience, but when I did the CRS score, we were around 446 on the assumption that we both do well with IELTS, so I was looking for Other ways to shore up our points as I also noticed 5 points will drop once I hit my next birthday in a few months. |
