Businesses are shrinking becos you cannot afford to keep up with the quantity you used to stock up on

With the existing fuel price and exchange rate, existing business are folding up. They are not finding it easy, Yet the government is talking of empowering youths, importing food, giving loans and grants.
If one gets the loan what do you do with it? Is it not in this environment that businesses are folding up that you will operate and repay your loans.
The government is either disconnected from realities on ground or deceiving people with their usual propaganda.

1. You need a critical mass of people playing the sport. THAT TAKES TIME. There is a reason why USA is dull in rugby, and Holland cannot do well at cricket.and China messes up at football.....it is because they don't have a large number of people playing either sport.

2.You need funding...and the kind of funding needed is far more than any Nigerian government can give. That is where sponsors, and people paying more in entrance fees, and people paying more in school fees comes in.

All them foreign based...they pay a lot to get better at sports. Notthing like government sponsorship.


We had a young GEJ In charge. London 2012..we won zero medals. We even did not qualify for the men football...after our 2008 silver.

China and India may not be good in football, but they they have comparative advantage in other sports. China is always 1st or 2nd in that Olympic medal table and India is also there. So it must not be football.
You are here defending the Sports ministry as if you are the minister. If you see how funds are frittered in these ministries, you will cry. Besides the ministry does not need to fund the clubs 100%, they only need to motivate the actions and the environment.
You see somethings that are working perfectly well in other countries, and you will now sit down and write a book on why it will not work in Nigeria. That is negative thinking.
What stops you from studying how those countries did it.
We truly have a long way to go in this country with this mentality of defending nonsense.

It's disheartening to see Nigeria's poor performance at the current Olympics. This outcome is a reflection of perennial administrative issues that have plagued our sports sector for years. The mismanagement and lack of proper funding have severely affected the development of our athletes.

In the past, youth sports games and interhouse competitions were the bedrock of our sports development, nurturing talents from a young age. These events were pivotal in identifying and grooming future champions. Unfortunately, they have become almost nonexistent. The passion and enthusiasm that once drove these competitions have dwindled, leaving our young athletes without the necessary platforms to hone their skills.

If we are to see any improvement in future Olympics, we must address these administrative inefficiencies, reinstate and properly fund youth sports programs, and revive interhouse sports competitions. Only then can we hope to regain our former glory on the international stage.

Of course the old men we keep electing as presidents cannot do that.
What stopped the ministry of youth and sports to float a football club for the youths in all the Local government areas. Do you know the impact this will have on the economy as a whole.
Countries like Argentina and Brazil with large population like Nigeria have thousands of football clubs at every level. And everyone can see how their citizens are dominating in all the football leagues around the world raking in hard currencies in billions.
Every government in Nigeria depends on oil forgetting that human Capital yield more than oil in other countries.
All these ones representing Nigeria at the Olympics are all foreign based.
Is it Buhari or Tinubu both frail old men that will work or new ideas to push the country forward when they are battling old age health challenges.

Budget was padded with over 3 billion projects without any address and location.
VP house was renovated with 20 billion, what does it cost to build new one.

All palliatives is about the contract. How many people benefits from them except the people that approve the contract. This is why they keep bringing out one palliatives after the other.
But the real truth is that in government, you only need a good heading to spend on. It doesn't matter whether it is beneficial to anybody or not. They don't award contract without collecting a good percentage of the amount involved.
If a DG of a ministry wants to travel from Abuja to Lagos, about 500 million Naira would be spent in preparation for the journey alone. This is how government works across board. So 80% of the fund are frittered away. This is what we are talking about.

No concession was made by the government. That's too bad and insensitive.

I am a Supporter of BAT and I fully support everyone that intends to come out to protest peacefully.

No matter the hardship an average Nigerian goes through, people in Governemnet can NEVER understand the extent of hardship. This is because they are spending public money. It is ONLY a protest like this that can make them understand how bad things are.

As much as I have fate in BAT, I still strongly believe that he could do better than this. Better in the aspect of finding sustainable ways to ease hardship while we work on securing the future of Nigeria and Nigerians. My advice is for you to refocus. You need to bring some changes to your home. If you are not working before, try to find some work that will be taking you away from the house . What Tinubu has done was not subsidy removal but price hike so that they can have more money to share..

When he announced 'subsidy is gone'.. NNPC fhe sole importer quickly adjusted their pump price to N537.. just about 1dollar then.. but when the government went further to devalue the Naira senselessly in the name harmonising the exchange rate, the BDC Black Marketers started shifting upwards as well and the CBN then without a clearcut strategy started chasing the Black Market rate at a point even overtook them until they were able to use EFCC to scare the black marketers.. we all ended up at 1600/$ today. So you see what has happened, the government had gone on a merry-go-round and landed everyone at an even difficult position than they met.. now they have to pay the difference in the pump price because the people simply can't pay in full even as they have pushed the pump price to over N800/L from N190 they met it..

What government in their right senses would allow increase in pump price of fuel by over 400% in one year.. all the name of a phantom subsidy.. even when they know they have no plan to fix the refineries..

in all of the President and his handler's speeches about this current planned protest, not a single mention of plan to open the refineries on time.. that was deliberate. They have no plan to open any refineries so that their Malta companies can sell and they can pay the so-called subsidies to themselves.

Even Dangote who just open a Refinery has to learn the hard way and started selling the crude that he imported... because he understood that there is no plan to allow anybody sell anything internally for now..
What right thinking leader would self-sabotage his own country's companies that could employ hundreds of thousands of people just so he could collect money from Importation. Why do Nigeria leaders think so narrowly and selfishly.. It's almost been like a culture for all the people have led this country, at the expense of the common masses.

You all media should learn to call a spade a spade..there is nothing like subsidy removal for now in this country.

The only way to go now is for the government to cancel the floating of Naira. They should go back to pegging the exchange rate , then use import licensing, exchange control and other methods the CBN may deem fit to manage it.
The CBN are just wasting time dwelling on interest rate.
successive governments have tried this float at pilot level and withdrew when they saw the impact.
No need beating about the bush. The floating should be cancelled if Tinubu and his team want to be serious.

This may not be the real situation.
Even if Dangote sells at international price, what about the freight, insurance and other logistics component of the price. By the time you remove them, the price will lower significantly.
Besides, If NNPC sells crude in Naira to Dangote, they will buy the refined oil in Naira. So there is nothing to panic about.
Let's wait for Dangote to start selling first.
