Christianity is just a 'modern' manifestation of pagan ideals. |
haha those things look stupid. |
Science trumps religion. All day, everyday. I look forward to hearing why religion is valid, let alone an alternative to reason. |
what does exu define as common sense? shag when you want to with whom you want to?You just confirmed my answer/question with that statement. |
The real question is whether Christianity or Islam permit the use of common sense? The obvious answer would be no. |
Poverty clearly isn't the whole answer when there are people living like kings in Nigeria who also slavishly follow religious doctrine. Not all of these people are involved in politics mind, so it isn't purely a case of power. |
Well I guess why the Bible is to be spiritually discerned, otherwise it's just dead letter.Spiritually discerned? I have no idea what that means. That sounds like something only a Christian would understand. You seem dead set on disproving your own claim: I suggest that if this person really wants to know truth, that they read the Bible and not look to organized religion and other people's opinion to prove the existence of God. |
Also, I suggest that if this person really wants to know truth, that they read the Bible and not look to organized religion and other people's opinion to prove the existence of God.Anyone who ever took the time out to look at the Bible objectively probably wouldn't come to an opinion of which you approve. |
It's funny that you should refer to personal experience here: When it comes to atheism the only thing that will convince that person of the existence of God is a desire to know truth or at least be curious about it, and a PERSONAL experience with the same God they deny. But then completely dismiss the opinion of someone else who's experiences (although probably not all that different to anyone else's) have led her to form an opposing standpoint from your own here: God gives humans the opportunity to accept forgiveness for their sin, and all who do will be rewarded with eternal bliss in heaven, but while they are on earth, they must suffer for his sake. She's clearly utilizing the senses that we all have to form her own opinions. Why would you berate someone for doing this? |
regurgitated liesInteresting terminology. Care to expand? What I find "sad" are the people who allegedly encouraged you in this debate. It is no surprise that they were "non black" as you put it, because african people have a strong spiritual, moral and cultural identity, sadly lacking in "non black" races (I'm assuming you mean caucasian and perhaps muslim here). Why is debate wrong? If something doesn't stand up to reason then maybe it should be scrapped. You come off sounding as ignorant as she did towards the end of her post. You both need to learn to judge people as individuals, if at all. Also, since when did 'muslim' become a 'race'? Islam, the last time I checked, was a religion. |
Hahahaha I've been exposed. |
Christian natural law Despite its pagan origins, a number (though not all) of the early Church Fathers -- in the West more so than in the East -- sought to incorporate the natural law tradition into Christianity (the suspect devotion of the Stoics to pagan worship no doubt aided in this adoption). The most notable among these was Augustine of Hippo, who equated natural law with man's prelapsarian state; as such, a life according to nature was no longer possible and men needed instead to seek salvation through the divine law and grace. In the Twelfth Century, Gratian reversed this, equating the natural and divine laws. Thomas Aquinas restored Natural Law to its independent state, asserting that, as the perfection of human reason, it could approach but not fully comprehend the Eternal law and needed to be supplemented by Divine law. |
Why the Red Sea? Why not the North Sea? Or the English Channel? Or better still, the Atlantic ocean? |
Were it not for the wonderfully overzealous nature of the admin I'd quite possibly be tempted to call you a woefully misinformed little gay. Unfortunately such language isn't tolerated around here. Shame really. |
Wow, how is this a good way to choose a supposed life partner? Smacks of superstitious nonsense if you ask me. I can't believe that some people still choose to live like this. |
This topic has been covered so many times on this board. Having said that I still laughed when I saw the following: clemsonfan: |
'Why some people turn to religion' |
419 in the name of God. They shall in no wise lose their reward. It's funny cos it's true. Isn't it all a big sham anyway? |
There's only one reason why a woman ever need open her mouth. |

Merry Christmas, always remember the reason for the season. . . .and don't hate!!What the hell does that mean? The key to a discussion is to talk a language both parties understand. |
I hope this isn't a case of someone posting under two different usernames. That's just sad. Whoever you are I have no idea what you're talking about. This: dennylove:, somehow made even less sense than whatever was written the first time around. |

Anyone who speaks like this doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. Another example of this unfortunate brand of English: I only use them when mofos like u run them mouth when it comes to religion. |
1. Exu has never made up long winded answers to questions he does not know the answer to. 2. Exu would never dream of telling an attractive female to cover herself from head-to-toe. 3. Exu would never advise against the use of condoms. Nor would he teach that anal (and oral) sex is wrong. 4. Exu would not act on instructions given by the voices in his head. Rather, he'd do the responsible thing and hand himself over to the authorities. 5. Exu would never shed tears over a cartoon. Nor would he become aggressive at the thought beautiful women parading their assets. 6. Exu would never dream of telling another being what to eat. Or even how to kill your food without scientific reasoning. 7. Exu would never abuse and brainwash children. That's just sick. 8. Exu would never talk to the clouds and expect results. Experience has taught Him that being proactive is a wonderful thing. 9. Exu would ensure that those who have committed criminal acts, whether financial or civil (and especially with regards to children) spent at least part of their lives in prison. 10. Exu would never stifle scientific progress without a valid reason. p.s. Exu loves each and every one of you. Even the people who refuse to acknowledge Him as their god. |
For goodness sake, Slavery is supposed to be over, is it not? Or was it just relabelled as 'Independence'?What the hell does this have to do with holding foreign reserves in US dollars? |
I was actually engaged in an argument with two muslim ladies at work today on this same subject. They were even laughing at me for telling them Jesus is God, even after explaining thoroughly Gen 1:27, John 1: 1 - 5 and John 10:30 to them, and some other verses too, they were still bent on clinging on to what they've been told in their mosques. I wasn't surprised anyway.Aren't all of you who insist on the existence of Jesus/God simply 'clinging' onto what you've been told by your pastors? Did you explain to the muslim ladies why the Bible verses you used were of any real relevance? If it's all in the mind then how can one side ever trump the other? |
What kind of stupidity is this? Juju? Talk about dumb. |
Hi Donzman, Donzman:Is it really? If that were the case then there would be no historical debate. People far more intelligent than you are still debating this. Try reading something other than the Bible. Huh?, You manufacture words now? Then you pull out "Belief not based on proof". I've taken a look in the dictionary and faith is way more than that. The Christian faith has proof, testimonies of the handwork of God, sucks you can't experience it.Where is your 'proof'? p.s. If that were truely the case it wouldn't be called 'faith' now would it? p.p.s. Would I be wrong in guessing that what really hurt your feelings is the thought that Islam has more evidence to support its history than Christianity? |
