Religion / Re: Nigerian Churches And Noise Pollution by exu(m): 2:54pm On Dec 16, 2006
Ignorant people partaking in ignorant behaviour really isn't all that suprising.

Clearly loving and respecting thy neighbour isn't as important (or profitable) as hating homosexuals.
Islam for Muslims / Re: The Numerical Contradictions In The Quran by Backslider by exu(m): 2:50pm On Dec 16, 2006
You'll probably find that a lot of people won't care about this thread because Islam is a distant religion/problem to them.

In short, they haven't had Islam forced upon them.

That's not to say that there aren't a vast number of inaccuracies and contradictions to be found in the Koran.

One final thing. People keep bringing up the trivial issues, like numbers. There are far more glaring contradictions that anyone who had bothered to read said 'holy' texts would be able to identify.
Religion / Re: Is Jesus God? by exu(m): 2:44pm On Dec 16, 2006
It is beyond the senses

If it's 'beyond the senses' then by definition it's beyond all human understanding or imagination.

Essentially it's pointless.

At best it's self-serving.

p.s.
Some of you guys need to lay of that pipe.
Religion / Re: Is Jesus God? by exu(m): 8:32pm On Dec 15, 2006
God shines my shoes.

God makes my breakfast.

God cleans my toilet bowl, immediately after use.

What does that say about me?
Religion / Re: 101 Clear Contradictions In The Bible by exu(m): 1:33am On Dec 15, 2006
Talk about deviation.

And what a stupid topic to deviate to.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Is This Footage Real, Re: Ronaldinho by exu(m): 2:40pm On Dec 13, 2006
I'm guessing it's the footage of him hitting the crossbar several times in succesion.

The answer to that question would be no.
Family / Re: Nigeria's High Birth Rate by exu(m): 11:36pm On Dec 12, 2006
Admin- could you please move this thread to the politics section.

Thanks.
Family / Nigeria's High Birth Rate by exu(m): 1:06pm On Dec 12, 2006
I'm curious as to whether anyone knows of any measures being taken by either the local or federal government to curtail the ridiculously high population growth within Nigeria.

The economy is growing but many people in Nigeria aren't benefiting because of the well documented corruption but also due to the rapid growth in the number of Nigerians.

Is the average Nigerian aware of the contraceptives available to them?

Or have they once again been neglected by their leaders?

Or is it simply a case of people choosing to ignore the information presented before them?

Do Nigerian churches still encourage people to be 'fruitful' without thinking of how they will feed said 'fruits'?

Would life for Nigerians not be made easier if families choose to have one or two children that they could afford to educate and feed properly?

p.s.
Does anyone know where I can find a state by state breakdown of the population growth?

Thanks for your time.
Religion / Re: What Happened to Your Ancestors Who Didn't Know Christ? by exu(m): 6:24pm On Dec 11, 2006
God winked at men's sins when they were in ignorance.

Don't Christians always claim that sin leads to suffering.

Are you saying that the all singing, all dancing God allowed his children to suffer due to ignorance?
Politics / Re: Prediction: Yaradua, Duke Ticket Combo by exu(m): 1:32pm On Dec 10, 2006
What has Yar'Adua done do be worthy of the Presidency?

I know his father was a great advocate of democracy in Nigeria- but I'm curious to know what he himself has done in Katsina.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Will Soon Divide, What Will Happen If Power Leaves The South In 2007? by exu(m): 1:27pm On Dec 08, 2006
Nigeria will not divide; we are one nation under GOD.

'GOD' is a questionable entity, at best.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Will Soon Divide, What Will Happen If Power Leaves The South In 2007? by exu(m): 9:30pm On Dec 07, 2006
Serious question.

What the hell would happen to the northern half of the country without the south?
Politics / Re: Should We Ask Mr. President For His Assets Declaration Forms For 1999 And 2003? by exu(m): 4:46pm On Dec 06, 2006
I think it's only fair that the President leads by example.
Politics / Re: Naijaphobia Or Naija Haters. by exu(m): 4:17pm On Dec 06, 2006
419 is something that is done by 2 people not 1, so is the collaborator the good guy?
I find it hard to feel any sympathy for people caught up in the 419 nonsense.

My family has had numerous letters (before the internet) and emails asking for money in order to release funds that had been smuggled out of Nigeria. Every one of these correspondences was ignored because we knew:

a) it was too good to be true
b) it amounted to theft- we would have been helping thieves.

It takes a lot of cheek to complain about being conned by thieves when you yourself were trying to get a 'piece of the action'.
Politics / Re: Naijaphobia Or Naija Haters. by exu(m): 1:25pm On Dec 06, 2006
I thought all South Africans were rapists, with AIDS.

Seriously though. One thing I've noticed is that even those who profess to despise Nigerians will always say how 'clever' and intelligent Nigerians in general are.
Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Do Muslim Men Wear Long Beards? by exu(m): 2:37pm On Dec 02, 2006
To keep their faces wam?
Religion / Re: Christianity & Islam: Are They Really "Sister Faiths"? by exu(m): 6:36pm On Nov 30, 2006
We are in the days when the greatest obstacle to the salvation of souls is ignorance and deception from the pit of hell.

No.

The real ignorance is in people who still speak like this.

There is no evidence of a human 'soul' nor has anyone ever been to hell.

Stop day-dreaming and embrace the real world, it's a truely wonderful place.
Religion / Re: Did God Send 2 Different But True Religions? Judaism And Christianity? by exu(m): 4:37pm On Nov 30, 2006
I don't much care about what's written in the Bible but I have heard numerous Christians and their leaders proclaim that salvation can only come about via 'faith' in Jesus.

Practising Jews, as I am lead to believe, do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

They are, therefore, destined to a hell- one which, I have been told, a lot a Jews do not believe in.

Also what with all the Vatican backed anti-semitism you would probably have a hard time convincing your fellow Christians that their God intentionally sent two different messages, thus spourning confusion and bloodshed, to mankind.

Unless of course the God that you believe in is a sadist- which is pretty much how the Bible describes him.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Drogba: I'm Better Than Thiery Henry by exu(m): 6:30pm On Nov 29, 2006
The fact here is that as an African player if you don't blow your trumpet
No media will blow it for you.

Unless you happen to be Eusebio, George Weah. Patrick Vieira, Samuel Eto'o or Mama Diarra. You know, a good footballer.

This isn't about being 'African' it's about being consistently good.

Don't make this into something it isn't.

p.s.
Okocha got plenty of press every time the World Cup came around because it was widely accepted that he was always exemplary for the national team.
Sports / Re: The True African Footballer Of The Year! by exu(m): 6:14pm On Nov 29, 2006
I think you've got a point.

Kanoute's always been a talent but he's finally had some luck vis-a-vis injuries.
Sports / Re: No More Foregn Coach: Lulu by exu(m): 3:18pm On Nov 29, 2006
Some of you guys have a ridiculous notion of what it takes to win.

A foreign coach will not guarantee good results or even good man management- did you not see what happened in 1998?

The NFA is very much the root of any problems the national team is facing currently, too many people are in it for the money as opposed to the greater good of the game.

p.s.
Without meaning to sound confrontational what exactly did Onigbinde that has left such a great impression on you amodu?
Religion / Is Satan Genuinely Evil? by exu(m): 8:29pm On Nov 28, 2006
Or has Satan simply been a victim of bad PR?

I ask because I can't think of anything that would explain how a being, very much like us, can be blamed for all the evil that we see.

What has Satan done to deserve such hatred?

Where is the evidence that Satan even exists?

Is Satan not entitled to our love and forgiveness- does the Bible not say that we should continue to forgive and that we should love our enemy?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Is Essien A Right Back? by exu(m): 8:15pm On Nov 28, 2006
Essien is just a very good all round footballer- not necessarily a right back but technically and tactically proficient enough to play anywhere.

To be fair to the other guys none of them are right backs- Geremi is a midfielder/wingback and the other two have made it known that they prefer to play centre-back.
Politics / Re: President Of Nigeria In 2007: Who? <Poll> by exu(m): 2:36pm On Nov 28, 2006
OK.

Seriously guys, who voted for IBB in this here poll?

Some people have very short memories.
Sports / Re: No More Foregn Coach: Lulu by exu(m): 4:06pm On Nov 27, 2006
Serious question: what would a foreign coach do that a Nigerian coach couldn't do?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Drogba: I'm Better Than Thiery Henry by exu(m): 4:02pm On Nov 27, 2006
everyone is entitled to he's season of madness. for that i refuse to crucify drogba

It isn't really a 'season of madness' when you've had multiple good seasons in France. Then been asked to play a different role to the one you have been used to, in a different league and succeed at that also.

Fact of the matter is you can rely on Drogba to fight for the team all the time by any means.

Drogba has shown that he can perform consistently at the international level against top opposition- can Henry?

Drogba can adapt to different roles and still succeed- can Henry?

Drogba has been the best striker in two different leagues- would Henry have even made the bench had he moved to Barcelona?

In some ways it is commendable that Henry refuses to play anything other than the 'beautiful game'. It shows a degree of integrity.

But I know if I was building a team I would pick a Drogba over an Henry every time.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Drogba: I'm Better Than Thiery Henry by exu(m): 1:49pm On Nov 27, 2006
I don't waste my time arguing with people who,

a) can't answer 'why' e.g. Henry is a better player than Drogba and here is why etc.

b) won't refrain from making childish insults

c) don't have the decency to format their text, or ensure that their English is grammatically correct- why should I waste my time trying to make sense of what you are trying to say?

Have a nice day.

p.s.
Why are you keen to defend Henry's honour? Is there something we should know?

p.p.s.
Just seen Mukina's profile picture- you're a very beautiful young woman.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Drogba: I'm Better Than Thiery Henry by exu(m): 1:22pm On Nov 27, 2006
Loverbwoy made HIS point- after you dismissed my valid reasoning without saying why.

Would you like to try again or are you happy to assume this 'point' (unfortunately large inverted commas don't exist on my keyboard) as yours?:

actually the guy must be an illiterate to compare himself THIS season with a football game that was compiled over a period of time

Come again?
