Who told you that German cars can consume a lot of fuel than Japanese? Don't say something you are not very sure off. Some brand of German cars economizes more fuel than a Japanese except there's something wrong with your car. However in a country like ours(Nigeria)that has a very high percentage of theft in Japanese cars,i will stick to my brand because you don't need insurance cover because na bad market for thieves. ![]() blank: German cars consume a lot of fuel as compared to Japanese cars. |
Who told you it's not expensive? It depends on the model you are buying. The older version will be cheaper while the newer ones will be expensive. Except you are looking at buying Mercedes Benz flat boot,VBoot,190 whether ruler or padded then you will get it very cheap.
Please anyone knows any site I can check up on for cars in Germany cos I heard is not expensive over there....
|
German cars (Mercedes Benz to be precised) any day anytime. Because of its durability. |

President Goodluck Jonathan has come under intense pressure from his advisers to sack corrupt Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, over the N255m bulletproof car scandal. Already, the President Jonathan has met with his close associates and they have concluded that Stella Oduah is a baggage that is too heavy for Jonathan to carry. “She has to go. This disgrace is too much.” A source close to Jonathan’s inner circle in Aso Rock told Nigerian News Portal that the cash will be recovered. I hear that Stella Oduah is seriously begging Patience Jonathan to save her job and her face. The call for the minister’s removal followed the ministry’s confirmation on Wednesday that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority bought two bulletproof vehicles worth $1.6m (N255m) for Stella Oduah. The NCAA had on Friday claimed that the cars were in its possession and are used to “convey the minister and visiting foreign dignitaries.” But this contradicted the statement of the minister’s aide, Mr. Joe Obi, who had earlier admitted that the cars were purchased because Stella Oduah’s life was in danger. Following the development, leaders of anti-corruption groups have all said the minister’s acceptance of the cars amounted to receiving a bribe to neglect her duty, leading to the loss of lives in plane crashes. Executive Director of CLO, Mr. Ibuchukwu Ezike, described the minister’s action as evidence of the level to which impunity had grown among public officers because of Jonathan’s inability to fight corruption. He said, “If this happened in climes where laws are obeyed; where the credibility of processes is respected, such public officer is sacked and prosecuted. We believe that what has happened is enough reason for the minister, not only to be removed, but to be prosecuted. “But these things happen and nothing is done. That is why we have been saying that the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is not interested in fighting corruption.” Similarly, the Executive Director of CACOL, Mr. Debo Adeniran, said Oduah and her accomplices should be sacked and prosecuted for corruption and negligence of duty. He said, “Not only should Oduah be sacked, she and her accomplices should be promptly arrested, investigated, prosecuted and actually punished for such heinous crime. What she did is like taking a bribe from NCAA, which means she will no longer be able to maintain standard in aviation sector. And when standards are not maintained, all you get is that Nigerians are killed in plane crashes.” When contacted by Punch, spokesperson for ICPC declined comment. He said: “No comment for now.” - See more at: http://todaysgist..com/2013/10/president-jonathan-agrees-to-fire.html#sthash.mGIvWTqB.TtZXQHFs.dpuf |
I also experienced the same some time last year when a man and woman well dressed on a Saturday evening approached me as i was returning back from Jibowu. I thought they missed their way but only for them to tell me that they are coming back from a wedding ceremony (Owambe) and that they misplaced their purse/wallet and that they are going back to Ikorodu that evening but don't have money on them. I was led by my subconscious mind and i gave them #1000 and left. They prayed for me and that God will reward me etc. God sees my heart and no weapon of the devil fashioned against me shall proper. So forget about all the them say dis and dat as far as you are moved to assist, then carry on for God will not allow us suffer over what we don't know about. |
So do you prefer the W203 C240 to your C230 Kompressor? |
You better prepare yourself very well for the Chilling effect. The AC in that Benz is Deep freezer cos i am talking from experience. My neighbour owns a 1999 C180 and even in a very very hot weather it can give you pneumonia. You can't compare the AC of a Benz with other brand of Japanese except there's a problem with the AC system. viazi: @all, I am planning of getting a 1999 C280 sport. I love this car and its gonna be my 1st Benz. How ever, I reside in Abuja and am a lawyer, I do a lot of driving around the town in hot sun and thus I need a very good AC for the hot weather. Can this Benz AC withstand Abuja heat. I need sincere and honest advice. |

Your statement is useless. One man's meat is another man's poison so if you don't like a particular music or artist doesn't mean another person wouldn't like it. I prefer the old skool(francophone) because it last a life time and not musics that only last for a while. Sepp360: where yhu download all those useless songs from? |

You don't even know what you want in the 1st place. Before you accept dating someone for this long you ought to have reviewed all the likes and dislikes prior to proceeding. He's from Ibibio while you are an Igbo girl meaning different tradition and you guys don't understand each others language and it is now you see the reality of it all. I will advice you quit the relationship because your love for him is diminshing and such if you force yourself into marriage with him,you will at the end gabage out. I can only advice you to marry someone that you understands his language, customs and tradition. Love more with your head and do not concentrate in the heart alone. Good luck |
When the federal government increase their tariff,it is an indirect way of banning Tokunbo cars which simply means that they want to make it unfavourable for Nigerians to bring in tokunbo cars. What they would have mentioned was a way of stopping the import of salvage titled vehicles i.e if you must import a Tokunbo vehicle into the country it must be clear titled vehicle not accidented rather than this initiative which will only favour the rich and not the poor. Also the government might feel that the poor masses can afford Kia picanto or Hyundai elantra then how long will that last if bought? I'll rather buy a Tokunbo 1997 Mercedes Benz C class that can take me anywhere in Nigeria than invest my money to buy a brand new kia or hyundai brand of cars that i cannot attest to its durability. Do they think it's like the United States,Canada and other developed countries that you can simply purchase a brand new vehicle with say $500 and balance up in installments which is applicable to both the poor and rich. Buying of Tokunbo cars now isn't going to solve the problem because it isn't everyone that had plans for such expenses and even if you have money deposited in the bank which you can as well use to purchase a car now, what then happens if something happens to that car in 6 months time? The government should use their head and not their anus. |
Hello Bro, Well from my own opinion,it all depends on the maintenance history of the car or SUV you intend to buy. If it was properly maintained, then you won't have a problem. A vehicle that has up to 200,000km or more that was properly maintained is better off a vehicle that has less than 100,000km with no proper maintenance done on it. The Engine can still last you many more years as far as you bought it in good condition and yourself doing the proper maintenance on it as at when due and using genuine parts. Daxbiz: Hello my people. |
I heard the body resurrected inside the plane causing panic so people were running inside the plane before it crashed. One out of the survivors is telling the story. |
Number one factor is the mileage. I agree with you brother. Gee2728: #3.5mil for a 2K9 C350, hmmm deal of the century. That means this dealers rly rip us off. |
Hello sir, Apologies accepted even though i never took that personal because i quite understand your reaction because of the way some car dealers in Nigeria place their prices which i concur to that. I even visited the website of of Ebay which happens to be a very popular website to check some advertised 2009 Mercedes C300 and that confirms that it's very possible to get it at that price you mentioned. Well if one has good contact in the USA that can handle pick up and shipping, then clearing wouldn't be a problem because to me i don't really see the big deal in pre-ordering a car from the United States as far as you are dealing directly with the company and not a private seller(except there's someone to meet with the person face to face) xerotop: @ eyop |
![]() spillyboy14: mumu!! Wen it happend in d 18th n 19th century, did they have N/L to broadcast it? Ewu... Unam-ikot. |
Sir i am not deceiving anyone, I am not a car dealer and i can attest to the fact that the car sells up to that amount or a little bit less than that here in Lagos Nigeria depending on certain factors(mileage inclusive). If you personal handle you car purchase yourself, you will for sure get it cheap because you have varieties of search to make and your motive is not for profit making. By my calculation with the price you posted here, yours will land your door step at-least #3.5million. you can visit some of the Nairaland car dealer websites and confirm that for yourself. In USA the lower the mileage, the higher the price and the higher the mileage the lower the price that's why i mentioned certain factors and myself i take mileage to be an important factor in purchasing a car apart from the maintenance history and the title. Example: A 2008 C300 Benz with mileage of 105,000 and the one of 28,000 will never land at the same price. There was a time Fletcher Jones company in the United States advertised a 2005 Mercedes C230 Kompressor with mileage less than 40,000 for sale and the price was $15,000 and when i contacted them they told me that the last price for it is $14,500. May be the price has been reviewed recently which i would have posted some of the dealership website for you to confirm what am saying but it's not proper and also not my business to do so. So if a particular dealership price is higher and you feel you can get it cheaper else where and you are satisfied with it,you can proceed. So that's the point i am making. xerotop: Pls Stop decieving people. Greed is d major problem with most car dealers. |
Well thank God that you were not so desperate about the propose transaction from the onset all because of the cheap price. According to your message you stated that your friend mentioned that the car was 2003 C180 sent from the USA which from that time you would have already concluded your facts because there's no C180 trim in the USA may be in Europe. Also the seller can get a buyer for that ride for #1million or more if it has a clear title and very clean because like i mentioned in my previous post that someone i know bought that same year in Togo for #1,150,000. Except the seller's own isn't clean then you can say that because even in Cotonou i doubt if you can get a very clean one (Customs duty inclusive) for that #750k. ziccoit: Thank you all. Honestly I doubted the possibility of getting W203 180k at the stated price (1M). It was a friend of mine (female) who called me that her friend whose uncle is in US send a c-class 180 2003 model and she has negotiated the price on my behalf. I was like oh! 1M clean title 2003 180k for 1Milla! |
Exactly but the problem is that due to greed some people will still fall for that. Take for instance if someone should tell you that he can get you a 2008 C300 with a mileage less than 100K at #2.5million which we know that the vehicle sells for about #5million or more for a good one, will you believe such a person? Gee2728: One auto dealer on this NL was sounding a warning that if som1 approach u with a 2010 range rover sports for #2.5mil, run away quickly cos somthing is fishy. Even if its all clean and engine sound it may be s stolen car. Truth be told if u put a C200k(#1.2mil) side by side a C200k(#2mil) ur eyes will tell u the truth even if ur ears dnt want to hear it. |
Yeah i understand brother. I am a regular person too in Cotonou so i can still tell you that these vehicles are expensive. I am not going to argue on the issue of getting it at that amount because it all depends on the seller over there. Take for instance if that W203 has stayed for so long without a customer coming for it in Cotonou and the white man there has some consignment at the port,he may decide to fling that ride to enable him get some money to enable him clear his goods because it's a smart move as a business person rather than for him to incur charges. I was in Cotonou some months ago and the same thing happened when my agent alerted me that there's a Benz that a Lebanese wants to sell at a very cheap price but unfortunately that wasn't the brand i was going for so that didn't scale through for me so it doesn't mean that it happens all the time. But also bear in mind that these cars are gotten from either USA or Europe and we all know the prices online via various websites so for someone to tell you that he can get you a W203 version of Benz for #1.2million can most times raise red flag except for reasons like i mentioned above.
I'm baffled myself, because i use to know the price of these cars to be on the high side few years ago, not untill i called a dealership here in nairaland based in Lag(whom i wouldn't want to disclose name here) and he confirmed the 1.2 mill Bench mark, although we didn't make the purchase again due to several factors that came up. But what really informed my opinion was that of this friend who bought his and brought to my office to celebrate with me. I know what is a clean car i'm not new to it, and i know when a car is made clean, i can distinguish between repainted vehicles and follow come, but what further baffles me was that of a friend too who landed e36 bmw 318 for 320k as overall cost from Cotonou for his personal use, he is a dealer too. He further confirm that he could land w203 c200k for me at 1.2m mark price too. This is my puzzle, he knock off all my points that these cars are expensive; according to him that no body even wanted to buy them overthere, that Nigerians went for toyota, especially camry 98/99 model and the highlanders even when i pointed prices in some popular site of the autoworld to him. He disclosed that to be a waste of time and money for what could be found here at far less price so i rested my arguement afterall i am not a dealer...
|
Brother you have a good ride and i must confess that's my own version of certified clean ride . Gee2728: You have a point. |
Gee2728: Thank God say u see my point. If u dnt mind send me ur mail so that I can send u the clear pic of my car so u can also appreciate y it cost that much for a W202. |
My brother, i quite agree with you and is not as if you cannot see the vehicle with that budgeted amount but the question that you should ask yourself is what will be the condition of the vehicle (W203) you are buying? My own version of a clean ride will be different from another person's own. A certified clean ride is one that both the interior, exterior, mechanical, electrical etc will not require you to do anything and the mileage will be very reasonable. I have a friend that went to Togo to purchase a 1997 Mercedes C200 which landed Lagos Nigeria for #1,150,000 and the vehicle was super in all aspect because it was buy and drive. You can even go online(some of the German used car websites) to find out the cost of some of these cars(a very clean one that has a good service history and will not require any further repairs) from there you can be able to know if your budget is realistic or not. In cotonou a very clean one will not land Lagos at that amount because the Lebanese selling cars will also want to make money from their sales and they won't invest so much money in a certified clean one to enable them sell very fast. If for W202 then i am very sure that you will get a good one that is clean in and out but for a W203,i doubt if you can achieve that but all that depends on the individual buying anyway cos your own version of clean may not be clean to me. Mercedes Benz is not like a Toyota or any other Japanese that you can gamble with in terms of the mechanical and electrical features so my advice is get certified clean ride that your budgeted amount can carry. Good luck... Gee2728: bro hanson if W203 for #1.2mill then am not sure it wld be a clean one. Though we all have our definition of clean cos most W203 I see for less than #1.8mil have been re-sprayed, tired leather seat, and ridiculously high mileage. |
My sister why are you such in a hurry to get married? Combination of school and marriage isn't child's play except you and your proposed husband will reach an agreement that NO child until after you have completed your programme which to me i still see that as being impossible because it will be 50:50 chances and suppose pregnancy comes in,you won't abort it. The only way you can comfortably fulfil that is if you are attending a university without discipline/standard were sorting is a national anthem there or you are a very brilliant girl which is still not easy. I will advice you to complete your studies first before marriage because there's time for everything. You are still very young just incase the guy cannot wait, the can marry someone else but if he loves you that much he should wait for you to complete your studies. Good luck in whatsoever you decide. |
I concur to that. Please kindly give us a break down of the cost of your replacement parts so that others may have an idea about the true position of things with the maintenance of a Benz. ziccoit: Good for your ride! |
Don't worry he was joking because he knows what you can do.aikerism: Uncle Smart? |
