Because we shouldn't assume somebody's religion because of their ethnicity. There was (I don't know if it's still there) and Igbo muslim community in Ebonyi.
Odenigbo Aroli: Where are you guys getting these "ten thousand" of Igbo muslims...I have never come accross an Igbo muslim in my whole life. We are 99% christans with the remaining one percent going to traditional religions, atheists and muslims.
Let's not forget people who don't have a religion as well which would probably be thousands.
I truly believe there are thousands of Igbo muslims (but probably under 10 thousand). I don't really buy over 95% claiming to be Christians (not including Christian upbringing) all over the world.
I believe there are a few thousand that are Muslim (maybe over 5000), then a few hundred that are Jewish (maybe over 1000), then over hundreds of thousands that are traditional religion (maybe over 200,000). I have this large number because of dibia, priestesses, priests, and their followers/apprentices.
From your experience do you believe that over 90% of Igbo people are Christian? I'm starting to believe that there are more traditional Chi worshippers than is currently thought and this doesn't even include people who are also Christian but dabble in Chi worship. And then what about other religions that have newly come like Judaism and Islam?
Although this is supposedly an Efik women, the entire jewellery (and clothing) is common to many eastern Nigerians, including the lower leg coils (called nja in Igbo).
