IlekeHD: You really want to compare cultural institution and western yoruba vs igbo names?
Ngga serve. The list of Yoruba wanna-bes and Yoruba cultural center all over the world is too long to provide
Black Americans/Afro Caribbeans by African family names? Wanna try place names? Wanna try historical figures? I can if you want. Mind you, all I talked about was Igbo soft power, not sizing up to anybody, well, initially.
That's a disagreement over strategy, not disunity. Disunity is fighting an internal war. Igboland wouldn't be as developed after the war if there was disunity. Disunity is for Niggerian politicians. Hope you're not confusing them with everyday people.
So, all those producers of 10 films in 5 minutes are the ones y1bos are calling legends.
Well we are used to it, you always have an opposing meaning for words in alaigbo --- the coward ojukwu was described as brave, the stupidity of fighting fighter jets and T72 tanks with cassava sticks was termed as bravery, treasonable felony is being seen as freedom of speech.
S,o if you call those categories of producers legends, i will definitely not be suprised, you are simply keeping up with your genetic traits.
Those are not typical Nollywood films produced every year, take it or leave it.
IlekeHD: I'm talking about the disunity on your threads
There's no disunity on the Enugu thread, very opposite actually, check for yourself. And there was no name calling of other regions/peoples needed either to bolster the visibility/page count of the thread (I see).
Which fight? Or are you talking about Abagworo and Chino? Two political bloggers? No one has insecurities about far flung places on those threads anyway.
superstar1: You made nadal popular. The only thing you made popular in Nigeria is drug trafficking and every form of other crimes.
I repeat, Nollywood comprises all the films being produced in Nigeria whether Yoriwood or Kannywood or Biafraudwood. If you want an exclusive film industry, chill till your fraud of a nation becomes a reality.
How can youw own Nollywood, when the majority of the top 20 grossing movies are from SW
Shymm3x, why is this handle mentioned in the 'Commonwealth' thread. You did that on purpose, right? And on that note, why is the last 30 pages of that thread dedicated to Igbo people? For gods sakes.
MegaMan1987: Are you really from Nigeria or are you one of these "overseas" Nigerians? If you're from Nigeria you wouldn't have even posted this comment. What a clown
"The Nigerian film industry is undoubtedly helping create jobs in a country with an economy that relies mainly on oil and agriculture. Over a million people are currently employed in the industry, making it the country’s largest employer after agriculture. Although Nigeria’s economy will grow by 7% this year, according to the African Development Bank, insufficient jobs for a growing youth population continue to be a huge concern. - See more at: http://www.un.org/africarenewal/magazine/may-2013/nigeria%E2%80%99s-film-industry-potential-gold-mine#sthash.5FYNfUOS.dpuf"
nwanlecha: Funny movie! I don't know if you've watched Nwanyị ụdị. That movie is giving me life now. Their Ụdị dialect is funny as hell, I swear. Another good one is, Okenwa na Ọnitsha. The only thing we're dealing with now though, is that the millions of non - Igbo speakers who are used to our actors doing movies in English, keep bugging us with request for the English version of our movies
I haven't seen those ones, these latest serial dramas are nice though. The other one I've payed proper attention to is Apama Nwa. I think Nollywood works better in this format.
jstbeinhonest: Depending on where you are staying language rep in the movie industry is probably equal.List the top 5 hottest songs in 9ja ryt now and at least 3 would have yoruba lyrics in it.List the top 5 hottest artist in 9ja ryt now and at least 3 of them would be yorubas. . Igbos dominate nollywood, sure.
I don't hear any of those songs in Kenya, Burundi, South Africa what I hear is 'Onyinye' and all those other P-Square songs, and maybe Flavour and Wizkid.
IlekeHD: You're okay with the sentiment yet you're crying about it?
The Revival of Yoruba is welcome. Yorubas all over West Africa thanks BBCAfrica for investing in the Yoruba language
I'm talking about how the entire first page is about Igbo people. Wow, flattering. But you need to focus on things important to you, or are Igbo matter that important to you?
nwanlecha: Don't even venture into Nollywood, 'cus ndị Igbo have the best of both worlds when it comes to that. We control the English side of Nollywood, which by the way is spiced up with a heavy dose of Igbo, and we've recently resurrected our Igbo movies, and they are doing so well now.
