Gbam. They know the rubbish they've spewed against the North and SW, and they know the Presidency is impossible without alliances which requires swallowing their vomit along with their empty pride. They should go and collect Biafra, its in Aso Villa chilling with some Fura da Nono.
Or maybe they're tired of the third world shithole being hammered from all sides. Maybe,.

Well you Niggeri Stanis are getting this guy on news stands, so maybe it's a mark of pride to be seen fighting for what you believe in. It's not like he's been dragged there for smuggling cocaine like some current Nigerian politicians.

Well, to an average Isiukwuato person, "uhu" is his single home.

An Isiukwuato lady I met in Aba will always tell her kids: " Ngwa, Chidera gbara gaa n' Uhu ga wetaram key shedim".

What do you make of the word "Uhu" in that context as used by the Isiukwuato woman.
Look at it this way, 'uhu' probably wouldn't be used when talking about building a home, like 'm na ru uhu', it would be ulo, which is why I think uhu is more of a base or homestead, household, than a house. I think you're right that 'uhu' is home, just that I'm not sure if it can be interchanged with all the meanings for ulo.

PoliticsOpinion: The World will be Sympathetic to Biafra by ezeagu(op):
Anything with the word Biafra is a source of sympathy to especially westerners. The reason being that Biafra was the first major humanitarian crisis that was broadcast all over the world and especially in Europe, it was the first major public charity call to Africa and everyone who grew up in the 1960s has at least some recollection of Biafra because of this. There was immense sympathy towards the Biafran cause from many Europeans despite many of their governments higher ups sponsoring the suppression and massacre, or genocide, against the Biafrans, who are also read as 'Ibos'. There were volunteers and even mercenaries from Europe and famously France offered a hand to Biafra.

Fast forwarding to today, as Biafra encroaches into the mainstream media of the west, thanks to the incompetence of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the narrative of Biafra as an oppressed massacred people will hold true in the western media, especially with peaceful protests and reports of such protesters being killed and the leader of the movement being jailed for a long period. It will all lead to the Biafrans being seen as the oppressed minority peacefully looking to their freedom, and, hopefully not, if it ever gets violent the Biafrans will be seen as the defence. This will also help because Biafra has already spread about the world and the patriotism to this Biafra movement can never be matched by the non-existent Nigerian patriotism, so there will be little to no voice for the Nigerians abroad.

Unfortunately, Anti-Islam sentiments are probably also going to come into play which will win favour with the conservatives overseas, especially in the United States, it seems IPOB understands that well because of their anti-Obama and general anti-Islam rhetoric.

I believe the world will side with Biafra, if you're attentive, you can see it's already setting up like that.

Some things we learned today.

Nigeria Did not Burn Because Of Kanu.

He does not have hair in the middle of his head.

He is completely on his own.

No man has ever won a fight with any Government in the World.

He is suddenly mature as for the first time, he kept his mouth shut in the court.

The British Government and the Ibo Nation have washed their hands, off him and he is regretting.
Thing I've learnt form this post: desperation.

"Captain Lugard had received a brevet-majority for his previous gallant conduct on
campaign, and his most recent command earned him the additional local rank of
colonel. Initially, Lugard commande 10, 15 d two battalions of the Northern Nigeria
Regiment; however, as the WAFF evolved and its list of campaigns grew, additional
local units were brought under the aegis of this single regional force. By 1902 (and
after Lugard’s departure), the Southern Nigeria Regiment, the Lagos Battalion, the
Sierra Leone Battalion, the Gold Coast Regiment, and the Gambia Company were
all amalgamated into the ever expanding WAFF.17

Though the officers were almost exclusively white Europeans and North Americans,
the ranks of these infantry units were comprised almost entirely of native Africans.
Just as in India during this period, the British Army developed strong prejudices in
favour of recruiting from certain communities for their purported martial qualities. In
West Africa, the Hausa were the most favoured group, and during the period the
word “Hausas” soon became synonymous for all West African soldiers."

"The Aro Expedition
Heneker’s operational successes led to a brevet-majority on 31 July 1901 and his
appointment as second-in-command of the Southern Nigeria Regiment, West
African Frontier Force. Soon after he was again leading expeditions into the Gold
Coast interior, this time as a column commander within a brigade-sized combined
arms force.
In late 1901 the British launched a substantial civil-military operation against the Aro
group of the Ibo tribe whose influence extended between the Niger and Cross Rivers.
The total area of the operation was 193 kilometres east-west to 144 kilometres
north-south, and operations lasted over four months.29 The British had a number
of objectives that required a series of expeditions against various factions of the Aro
tribe. First and foremost, they wanted to open the Ibo country to peaceful trading and
British directed commerce and prevent further massacres and subjugations of the
local populations by slave hunters and raiders. Second, they were keen to suppress
the native Long Juju practices once and for all.30
Lieutenant Colonel A.F. Montanaro, then commanding the West African Frontier
Force, deployed just over 2000 soldiers and 2300 carriers for this massive operation.
The white European officer ranks included at least a dozen Canadian officers at
all levels and functions across the force. Major William Heneker was perhaps the
most senior Canadian present in this campaign, being second in authority only to
Lieutenant Colonel Montanaro, the force commander"

Cjrane2, A culture of museum going, nightlife, dining, the arts, and sophistication would need to spring up indigenously. If you make Enugu a creative and exciting place for creative young people, especially from UNN and with people like Earl Anatsui based in Nsukka, you will strike gold. It will take money and investment. Currently, nowhere in Nigeria really has that kind of aura, and the National Museum in Enugu is locked and empty for most of the year because people don't have the sophistication or foresight, it's part of the short sightedness Nigerians/Africans have that keeps the country in one place. There needs to be a mini revolution, not imported carnivals and fake wine culture.

Uru/ Uhu means home/ a place of dwelling in Igbo.
I think the modern Igbo language had replaced it with Uno/Uno/Ulo.

In Isiukwuato, this shift from Uru to Uno/ Ulo/ Uyo/ oro, never happened, and the name for home in Isiukwuato remains Uhu up this day.

Well, that's my understanding of the word.
I think uhu is more general for ancestral homeland or compound, whereas ulo is a single home.

There should be more commercial and maybe even residential buildings of this size. I think this should be the limit if Enugu doesn't already have one.

There's limited space and everyone doesn't need to build a palace to live in luxury, penthouses and flats would serve just as well and conserve land and the environment.

Abagworo:
Your contributions have given an insight into possible shortening of full names to something simpler which interferes with the true meaning. Achike could be same as Achinike. Anyim could be Ifeanyim/Iheanyim.
I thought Achike was the 'strong Achi tree', which I thought Ojukwu was also 'Oji ukwu'. I'm guessing from the fact that the oji (iroko), achi, and uburu trees hold great significance.

OdenigboAroli:
Ekwensi....something about not letting a curse/ charm work.

Obiano....could mean Obi ano mma...heart is never at rest
Ekwensi is short for Aniekwenansi, like Anichebe, 'the earth goddess prevents poison and witchcraft'.

Many of these names were associated with traditional beliefs and were also shortened because of Christian dogma.
