dtemidare: Buhari we all know has penchant for criticizing everything Government does. his radical nature of doing things has ruined his political carrier. the man is indirectly seeking for support come 2015. however, The british made a fool of him inviting him to U.K, moreover the british know he will not win. sorry i forgot to tell you guys that buhari has several loot in the u.k. and the british is protecting him. details coming shortly.
Democracy is not all about winning and being in power, opposition, especially a strong one, is one the best facets of a true democratic process. Without a strong and effective opposition, there is no democracy.
How did the British know the out come of an election far ahead, they haven't got a vote? Tomorrow you will blame the same British for interfering.
The presidency is right, in as much as i have some personally reservation for PDP led government, that very act of APC was not only ridiculous but also mischievous, else, why make fuss out it if it wasn't hurriedly made to ridicule Mr. president earlier arrangement to visit the region.
Visit the troops now in Mali before any opportunity to ridicules comes. Sincere 9gerian: "The presidency has described the recently celebrated visit of eight opposition governors to Maiduguri, Borno State, as a media circuit hurriedly packaged to pre-empt the planned visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the restive states of Borno and Yobe"

"He said the visit by the APC governors against security reports is “sheer political recklessness which could have caused Nigeria major security embarrassment, but for the fact that the Federal Government and its security apparatus took extra efforts to ensure that the visiting governors were safe,” Okupe said
Listen to yourself, so it mean then that they told the presidency which includes Okupe/Abati in advance about their visit, hence the claim of safeguarding them, why turn around then and call it a circus, when it was you that provided security and protection for the opportunistic circus?
Stop this self stabbing of yourself.
Mr. Okupe said the governors were in Maiduguri simply to ‘feather their political nests’.

“Where were these governors in the last eighteen months that they were in office,” he asked.

He also added that the governors were in Borno as part of their mobilisation drive rather than any patriotic call to duty.
How silly is this advisers? If this is the quality advise that Jonathan gets, no wonder the guy makes truck load of PR tumbles all the time. Because these guys reasons like kids.
Your boss is the C-IN-C and you are asking another person who isn't, where they had been in the last 18 months? Its not their job mofos!

Hello! shouldn't that question be directed at you boss? Call it cynical but those governors no matter their intentions scored an unbelievable PR coup for the opposition and this clowns called advisers knew it and that is why they are not happy. If Jonathan knows his stuff, this two must now be looking for new jobs.

What Abati and Okupe has forgotten is that politics is game and the trophy is the political power at election. If an opposition saw an opportunity to be considered better than the serving govt, they will grab it and that it the way its has always been through out the whole democratic world. It doesn't matter what their intentions were. Its a competition to be liked by the electorates-that is what politics is.

The job of opposition is to oppose almost every govt move with their own alternatives and its down to the public to make a choice between the two ways and thats why they are called the OPPOSITION.

They are crying because they dosing and allow the opposition to steal the show under their feet in Maiduguri, wait till they visit the troop first in Mali, because I see that now as a possibility.

GEJ, please my brother act now, this two guys are destroying your government from the inside.

PoliticsRe: Okorocha Is A Failure - PDP by Eziachi: 3:48pm On Mar 05, 2013
Agukagu:

Thank you for seeking clarification. I will give a few instances

1.The policy of anybody that can build road and can finance it should come to Imo State and work exposed us to charlatans and non professionals. There was no pre-qualification of these contractors.

2. Quality checks in Civil engineering starts from planning stage and continues during monitoring and evaluation till the project is delivered. There is no supervision during construction so some road contractors place laterite on top soil. The quality of the laterite in most of the places is nothing to write home about. Civil engineering professionals know that all these roads are waste of our meagre resources because they will not last and to fix them we have to scrape the asphalt, the laterite and the top soil before building proper roads. In other words Imo will spend money on demolition and disposal before rectifying these works. Allowing a contrator to finish and then coming to tick quality parameters after construction shows that the supervising team is technically deficient. Many of the work components are no longer visible or measurable at this stage. The intergrity of the structure can not be guranteed if certain standard constuction procedures and methodologies were not adopted during construction.

3. The roads were awarded at about N40million per KM and no contractor is allowed to do more than 5km. This amount is too meagre to deliver a sound road - ofe di nma bu ego. No contractor can economically deploy batching plant, compactors, rollers, etc for such a short stretch of road project. With these there is no how these contractors can deliver on quality.

4. Who are those manning our technical ministries/parastatals like Works, public utilities, water board etc? I have nothing aginst appointing politicians to man these ministries but he should have looked for technocrats. Imo is highly endowed with human resources

Visit cities like Uyo, Akure, Enugu Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt etc and you will appreciate the beauty of quality and professionalism. Imo would have been better off with proper planning and taking scope of work commensurate with the resources of the state. The volume of earth moving works going on in several places shows an administration working without budget or sound cost management plan. Imo does not have that kind of money if our governor understands the cost implication of finishing what he started. Demolition and earth movement(clearing) constitutes less than 5% of the cost of a project
Ok, I now get your point, but for the fact that you cannot be paid if your job is substandard is a whole reason despite saying N40m is a small amount to achieve quality for a km road, maybe if you are a contractor, I will say , but you are not and my cousin who is a contractor and already well equipped with materials is making lots of profit because he has the materials.
You don't buy a new bulldozer per kilometre road you do. Do you? So if you have equipment, that money will be mainly spent toward labour mostly.

So I believe Okorocha policy has killed rogue contractors that doesn't have a spade but only run around to hire and rush their work out of business. Which mean, if you are a real contractor with the funds of your own and equipment, you can do as many 5km roads as you can in a year and that is where you make your profit.
Like I said, based on the road where my country home is situated, the standard is well above the Nigerian standard I use to know.
PoliticsRe: Okorocha Is A Failure - PDP by Eziachi: 1:21am On Mar 05, 2013
Agukagu: You may be an Imo indigene but it is obvious that either you don't live in Imo State or you don't understand the basics of civil engineering. Rochas is clueless and has been beating about the bush. Earth moving constitutes less than 5% of the cost of civil engineering projects. Getting roadsides contractors to hire bulldozers and clear spaces in the name of massive development is a mediocre strategy that will eventually backfire. The most important process in project management is planning. It is very obvious that there is little or no planning in the so called projects. Rochas wakes up in the morning and starts anything that tickles his fancy in the name of project. To make the matter worse he has no regard for quality and professionalism. Rochas is a disaster. I weep for Imo.
Can you be a bit more specific? Generalisation of things is usually not a reliable way to make a point, especially for the interst of people like me that is not there every morning like you. What do you mean by- To make the matter worse he has no regard for quality and professionalism? Its very vague if you didn't explain. I am not saying that you are not right or you are wrong, just that I can't understand your cloudy-bold statement.
PoliticsRe: Okorocha Is A Failure - PDP by Eziachi: 1:18am On Mar 05, 2013
You all know for sure that I am and will be the last to praise any Nigerian politician, no matter who the person is but I can tell you that when I was home during the last Christmas with my family, I could not believe what I saw going on in Owerri and Orlu that I was able to set foot.
Orlu was like a building site, so many projects going on and I was laughing with my cousins and asking them where Rochas got the money to be doing all this at the same time?

The road that lead to my country home was first developed and had since been maintain by my family since 1972 until now. Udenwa awarded a contract for it due to pressure from us but the work never get started until he left office and that was the end of it. The last I was home in 2011, we spent vast amount trying to make it motor-able, but to my surprise, when I got home last December, the road is not fully completed to a first world standard, even with a modern drainage system and all the old private street lights we installed since 1988 had been replaced with a brand new ones and they are working whenever their is power, which was very skeletal. It was completely unexpected. I was so impressed compared to what was obtained before.

Also each year I KNEW HOW MUCH i SPEND EVERY september paying all sort of school fees and levies for my 10 relatives but suddenly I am spending far less now because they no longer pay the direct school fees, which leave the normal budget to be used by them and their parents to tackle some other needed essentials. so though I am thousand of miles away, for the first time I can say with coy that a Nigeria govt is saving me some cash.

I was told by a relative of mine who has a heavy machine leasing business in Port Harcourt but now a solid contractor in Imo since Rochas. That Imo policy now is, if you are capable of executing a project, come with it and the job is yours, but no mobilisation fee, and you will be handed a standard procedure expected of the job, then when the job if finish, an inspection is done and if it tick all the boxes in the standard charter, you are paid without delay. My relative told me, that it has cut out the usual corrupt 10% kick back and since the last six months, he said to hav executed 3 projects without any upfront fee from the govt and had been paid.
I then ask again where Rochas found the money? And I was told it came from the usual security vote fund, that the past govts usually use to share among themselves and keep the rest as the election time budget war chest. This is based on my personal experience for the three weeks I was home.
I won't be clapping for him for doing his job HE IS WELL PAID TO DO, but I must say that, compared with what was before him, minus Mbakwe and Alison Madueke, this is far better.

Few days ago some of you said, he has no reason to visit Borno and from nowhere he find some strength overnight after the governors of the opposition had a PR coup under his feet by walking the street of Borno, he considered too dangerous for two years now to visit.
Honestly I don't know how you guys does it- finding a defence each time. I really don't know. grin grin grin

If I was the governor of that state, I will just ignore him and his visit, probably travel on the day.
PoliticsRe: Babangida’s Endorsement Of APC Rattles PDP by Eziachi: 12:06am On Mar 04, 2013
One thing I find about Nigerians is the inability to digest what they read or what they never bothered to read before forming an opinion that had already been shaped.
Base on what was published last week as to IBB's reaction toward the formation of APC, the guy didn't endorse anybody. What he said was that if small opposition parties can come together to form a larger party that will match the ruling party, he sees it as a good thing for Nigerian democrazy of his dream of 1990s of having a strong 2 party system eventually.
The same system, when NRC and SDP emerged under his experiment in the 1990s. How does this translate to endorsing APC and people are fighting over it?

Just over a year ago, I hope you are not one of the apostles you are voting GEJ and not PDP and what human right violation is bigger than rigging election, of which PDP has a P.H.D in perfecting it. eldoradoxx: Same bunch of opposition Governors who have not performed differently nor miraclously better that PDP Governors are the ones that are teaming together under APC to "fix Nigeria", what a laughable irony.

For those accusing GEJ of not going to Maiduguri and Yobe, note that GEJ is president of Federal Republic of Nigeria and shouldn't be seen to dignify a State where due to home bred religious extremism supported by govt, socio_ economic maladministration by same opposition party have foisted on their people terrorism. They should deal with their provlem and leave GEJ out of that.
What is your point and what do you suggest? They all join PDP and all will be fine under one party state? You correctly named them as bunch of opposition and that is what they are, opposition to govt in power, whether they will be worse is out of the question.

If GEJ can't go to Maiduguri or Yobe, himself and his police/army should stop going to South East flexing their muscles and killing unarmed MASSOB members and leave my people to deal with their problems, just as you have suggested, Commander in-chief is not cherry picking-pick and choose exercise.
PoliticsRe: APC: Opposition Governors To Meet In Maiduguri Today by Eziachi: 6:26pm On Feb 28, 2013
Obiagu1: I thought you'd counter the fact that they have killed more Christians.

Anyway, I never said it was all about Jonathan's presidency but it's a great contributor to the surge in attacks since his Presidency.
The goal remains Islamization of Nigeria and removing Muslims that don't agree with them is part of it.

APC should prove us wrong by nominating a Christian president. Will Buhari accept it? Definitely over-his-dead-body.
All I knew is that this Boko Haram people kill anything in their part just like all religious bigot group but just that some of you had been telling us that its came to be because they don't want Jonathan, when we knew that they had been there even when Jonathan was a deputy governor, but they took advantage of his weakness as a leader to be emboldened.

I don't give a hoot who APC or PDP chose as candidates, because its makes no difference to your life and mine, just like Pope Jonathan's presidency makes non.
I don't understand some of this obsession with Buhari, his sin seems to be that he contested an election with Jonathan, your perceived southerner, suddenly he is a bad man.
And it was the same when the guy that ran against OBJ and then it was the turn of Yorubas to paint him the colour they wanted to see and today, he is their new saint, because they wants to climb on his back, back into Aso Rock.

If we now agree that Boko Haram is purely religious matter, why do people like you still associate them with Buhari? On what fact is that based. Is Buhari more moslem than Sambo, IBB, Tukur (who said that they are freedom fighters) but now Jonathan's new best friend?

Based on facts on the ground, Boko Haram started with religious agenda but got bigger with the support PDP members that joined them and Jonathan and his advisers knew this fact, but they are quite okay with people like you talking about Buhari (a threat to their power) because it serves them better.
PoliticsRe: APC: Opposition Governors To Meet In Maiduguri Today by Eziachi: 5:27pm On Feb 28, 2013
Obiagu1: No they have not killed more Muslims; they have killed more Christians. The number of Youth Corpers killed in Niger State alone is more than the cumulative isolated killings of Muslims.
Yes they have more isolated attacks on Muslims because they need to consolidate their base and remove potential non-Islamic minded threat to their operations.

It does not remove the fact and their stated goal; Ismalization of Nigeria.
So when they killed the brother of the governor and tried on one of the big shot like Emir of Kano, what are they trying to do? Make them apostolic?
I thought you guys said its all about Jonathan's presidency and has nothing to to do with religious bigotry?
Which one is it Jonathan presidency or make all of you moslems?
PoliticsRe: APC: Opposition Governors To Meet In Maiduguri Today by Eziachi: 5:21pm On Feb 28, 2013

The same reason David Cameron, Obama often go to Afganistan unannounced.
The same reason French president went to Mali and visited the heartland of where the repelled rebels use to rule. Having sent a thousand troop to Mali, Jonathan supposed to have been advised by his advisers to visit his troops by now in Mali, make several unscheduled visits to Borno and Yobe.

Take his critics by surprise. In politics, image and perception is everything, but it seems that the guy is aloof and surrounded himself with fools, thereby supplying his opponents with weapons to fire at him.

Its doesn't look good at all, if the opposition politicians are to visit Borno, irrespective of what you believed that their fathers are behind Boko Haram

If he is to die tonight from say heart attack (not wishing him that), what then? We are all mortal after all. You don't need Jonathan to realise the aforementioned goal of yours because Jonathan is nothing but a creation of one Nigeria whose last goal is the realisation of such goals.

We need Biafra independent from Nigeria, then you don't need derivative from anyone and do as you pleases. You can now build a 5th or 6th Niger bridge without having to rely on a person's political gift to achieve it.
Majority of those in APC beneficiaries of one Nigeria they fought for and are fighting hard to make their future inside one Nigeria stronger and nothing else, hence I admire their skill and ways they are trying to get it, not because I believe them to be better than what they are fighting to replace. I admire people who knew what they want, even when I disagrees with their intensions.

You really think that its length of time that will make the difference? Well, I got news for you, most Nigerian cities in the 60s looks better than they are in 2013, most has running water in the 60s but in 2013 drinks through borehole commissioned with a big fanfare by politician. They have an airline 30 years ago and today, they have none.
Port Harcourt was nicknamed the garden city in the 60s, today, no one will dare call her that.

In the 70s every Nigerian sports loving young male looks forward to the buoyant national football league and ardent supporters of well ran football teams like IICC, Rangers, Racca, Waterco, Mighty Jets, Spartans, Bendel Insurance, Sharks, Vasco Da Gama etc and its live on tv as well, but in 2013 that league is as good as dead, many don't know it even exist as they all support Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man UTD, Arsenal, Chelsea etc.
So giving Nigeria time ahead, as a means of improvement is a fallacy. Go and check those they are building today in 5 years time and see them rotting away with their poor managing culture.
Ask yourself, where are institutions of pride like Societe general bank of the past?
