I didn't know what to make of this story until people living around the refinery started saying the fire has been out for 2months. I was opportune to have an internship placement at that refinery back in 2010, and one thing I know for sure is the extended period of downtimes we had over there. We even sometimes flare gases just to pretend to the outside world that the refinery is working. So if Ekpan residents are saying the fire has been out for 2months then OP you are a liar and have just been busted. My worry now is the motive behind your lying.

BLUE VALENTINE - Made me realize that love could be overrated.Love alone would not make a relationship work, level of education of parties in a relationship affects the union. It takes a real man to accept to be the father of a child you know isn't yours right from the first trimester.

Joagbaje: If The Tithe is a blind animal,The Giver redeemes It With Money . True or False ?
Can you explain Verse 31
The condition for redeeming had been well spelt out in verse 27, your example of a blind animal here is entirely your idea. Unclean animals alone can be redeemed. Unless you still consider any item today as unclean which would be against the word of God directly. The doctrine of tithing as practiced today is man-made, besides Hebrew 7 brought tithing to an end.

Once again, only you can tell yourself the truth.

Christianity EtcRe: Can Tithing Teachers Help Us Explain These Verses by ezme(m): 11:04pm On Oct 22, 2012
Joagbaje: It's base on same principles dear. Either for tithes or offerings. People gave cash that's my point . Confront the scripture I gave and stop looking for loop hole.

You guys claim that men didn't give money as tithes in the bible . And I'm trying to clear you on the principle of redemption. Men did use money as tithe. It is not pastors invention .If you're not yet clear on this let's discuss it more. Pls no insult

The only acceptable thing in the sanctuary were the things priests could use. Other things were not acceptable ,they were converted into money. For example Carmel is an unclean animal. If a man rears Carmel ,he can't bring a tithe of it. He will give money equivalent of it. Money is general medium of exchange . Also it's not every crop that can be brought to the temple . Others were sold and the money brought in. It is called redemption.

Leviticus 27:31
And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

You can redeem tithe , offering, or first fruit With money
26 “‘No one, however, may dedicate the firstborn of an animal, since the firstborn already belongs to the Lord; whether an ox[a] or a sheep, it is the Lord’s. 27 If it is one of the unclean animals, he may buy it back at its set value, adding a fifth of the value to it. If he does not redeem it, it is to be sold at its set value.

28 “‘But nothing that a man owns and devotes to the Lord—whether man or animal or family land—may be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the Lord.

Verse 27 clearly states what should be redeemed and the basis is that the said item is unclean. After Peter's trance God stated that nothing created by him should be called unclean so based on that, nothing can be redeemed presently as stated in verse 28

Brother Jo, pay more attention to details, your ability to arrange information brings about better understanding

The bible says, "He who finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord" Proverbs 18:22

The onus is on a man to find a wife, God doesn't choose a wife for you. And not everyone will find a wife.

If you quiz this brother further on how God spoke to him about you, he would say God showed him in a dream and he saw both of you at the altar. My sister, What a man desires, he dreams about. Don't fall for an old trick used in Christian circles.
Christianity EtcRe: Can Tithing Teachers Help Us Explain These Verses by ezme(m): 11:31am On Oct 22, 2012
Joagbaje: @pastor Kun

Are e you still of the opinion that men didn't give money as tithe ?

Kindly read this and explain

Leviticus 27:31
And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

Leviticus 27:27
And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.
And you conveniently left out Lev. 27:28?

Brother Jo....I'm an advocate for logical arguments don't twist the scripture for your selfish purpose.
Read Leviticus 27:26-28

26 says all firstborns of all animals already belongs to God, so you can't dedicate them to God since they are already his. 27 went further to say if it is of an unclean animal(since some animals are deemed clean and unclean, this is evident in the trance Peter fell into before he was to see the Centurion)so unclean animals are not edible ( reason why they should be redeemed). In the event they are not redeemed, they should be sold.28 ... stated that nothing a man owns and devotes to the Lord whether man or animal or family land may be sold or redeemed , everything so devoted is most holy to the Lord.
Christianity EtcRe: Do Nigerian Christians Lack The Word Power To Argue Logically? by ezme(op): 10:57am On Oct 22, 2012
Techwriter: @OP, I agree most believers on NLand don't follow arguments logically. There are reasons for this
1. All Christians are not Teachers: there are 5 fold ministries in the Bible: Pastor, Evangelist, Teacher, Apostle and Prophet(Eph 4:11). They all have there different areas of specialization. That's why organizations have spokesman. Unfotunately, nairaland is not an organization but a free for all forum. Take the medical profession for instance, there are questions/medical issues a paediatric cannot handle even though he is a medical doctor. That's why a General Hospital is often recommended where you meet all specialties. The Church (not Nairaland)is a spiritual general Hospital where you get treatment for all your spiritual issues

2. Most believers don't study their Bibles: Paul adviced his protégé Timothy to 'Study in other to show himself approved, a workman that should not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth'2 Tim 2:15. Due to lack of study, most believers are ashamed of some questions they have no answers to and resort to insults. You can never hear me insult anyone, no not even on Nairaland. Believers should not do that, Jesus even says that if you call your brother a fool you are in the danger of hell fire(Matt 5:23). To insult is Islam not Christian

3.The Bible is for learning not argument: James advices that you receive the Word of God with meekness(James 1:21). If you are not humble enough to learn, you will always take the position of argument and never understand. You wonder why Jesus called Peter and other Apostles "babes"(Matt 11:25)? because unlike the scribes and pharisees, they were willing to learn The Bible also says that the word of God is Spirit abd you need to be spiritually solvent to understand all of it. 1 Cor 2:9-11).

4. The Bible is hid from unbelievers: the bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 "If the Gospel is hid(not understood) it is hidden from them that are perishing in whom the god of this world(satan)has blinded their eyes so they cannot see the light of the glory of the gospel..."

I have more reasons to give but my advice to you is this
1. Don't come to Nairaland looking for answers about christianity
2. Give your life to Christ and receive His Word with meeknes of heart
3. before you study the word pray that God should open your eyes of understanding (Ps 119:18-19;Eph 1:17)

I'm a teacher of God's word and would soon open a thread to answer most questions that Nairalands ask
The portion I flagged red is entirely unnecessary to prove your point.

I think a public forum like Nairaland creates the opportunity to get diverse views and make you discern arguments that follow logically. I have gone the way of speaking to people in theological school and noticed how aggressive they get while trying to prove a point that doesn't follow logically. Most of them just say things handed down to them without going on this journey of self-discovery with an open mind.

As long as what you mean by your second advice is not to accept without questions what any pastor would tell me then I would look forward to the threads you would open to respond to issues raised.

Christianity EtcDo Nigerian Christians Lack The Word Power To Argue Logically? by ezme(op): 11:12pm On Oct 21, 2012
I have been questioning my belief system in the last one year and this brings me regularly to the Religion section. I always check out topics that are religion-based that make front page. There is a trend I have come to see on here.

The average Christian poster here cannot follow through an argument without resorting to verbal assaults. This is very evident in threads where renowned pastors come under fire or when tithing is criticized. Personally, I'm of the opinion that if a person takes to verbal assault to support an argument, the pointers are the person or the argument is weak or maybe both.

I think the non-tithing Christians are more logical when making premises and sometimes the atheists too. Anyone with an analytical mindset would shift base from just reading how pathetic most Christians sound when they argue.

I think Christians should change their approach when posting here if not they would keep losing to the atheists. Arguments are won by premises that leads to logical conclusions and not necessarily by the strength in number of the opposition.

If not for religion,Africa would've been in chaos by now.

(a) If the Employee completes the training programme and remains in the employment of the Bank for a period of Two (2) years after the said training programme.

(b) If the Employee’s employment is terminated or dismissed before the expiration of the two (2) years after attending and completing the training programme, the Employee and/or the Surety pays for the unutilized portion of the stipulated Two (2) years, the pro-rated cost of the training programme plus interest at the prevailing bank rate.
The OP misled you all, take a look at the "Heading" of section 2

you don't have to pay if you are sacked. The idea is to prevent trainees from leaving within a 2year period.

I also have another issue I need clarification on, my e-passport expires dec 4 2013. Intend to apply for a program for a program billed to begin sept 2013 and may defer to jan 2014 should the need arise. what are the implications of the above if ;
1. everything goes as planned and I get the VISA and start sept 2013( taking my passport expiry date of dec 4 2013)
2. I'm asked to defer till jan 2014 and my passport expires dec 4 2013, would this mean outright rejection or I would just be asked to get a new one considering that I would have at least a month to make that happen before my start date and hoping I have no other issue of concern

I can relate to what you are saying, that actually is the way I know how to do it. But,the opening post stated how they ended up with the 7ft measurement.I expected people to discuss based on what was given.

Do you know the criteria through which those 595 persons emerged? if you have read through the proposed Petroleum industry bill, you would not come here to rant and bring your myopia to the fore. NNPC is not a social security system that should ensure a particular number of persons get on its pay roll every year. Come and state valid premises then we can converse. Jobs/VacanciesRe: A Question For NNPC On The 2012 Mass Recruitment- Plz Read! by ezme(m): 4:02pm On Sep 12, 2012
Many people here are just sore losers. Its common knowledge that Nigerian Universities churn out half-baked graduates every year. These graduates actually lack very good theoritical foundation. They read only to pass examinations and not really to add knowledge and value. This is typical of most engineering graduates. what they have left after graduation is residual knowledge. You see them on job boards/fora asking for past questions and test formats whenever they are shortlisted to take a test. They expect to perform wonderfully after this fire-brigade preparation approach. People are recruited based on compentencies they can demonstrate they possess, this has nothing to do with having a 2.1 or first class. You see them getting all religious, turning job vacancy threads to fellowship meetings and prayer rooms. The sensible ones focus on getting better and read daily to update their knowledge. So you believe the 595 people who got in did so with political connect? Wake up!!! Focus on getting better, opportunity favours the prepared man. Coming here to whine about recruitment policies will not make you better neither will it get you a job. Change your perception and fix yourself, those who got the jobs are humans too.
