I didn't know what to make of this story until people living around the refinery started saying the fire has been out for 2months. I was opportune to have an internship placement at that refinery back in 2010, and one thing I know for sure is the extended period of downtimes we had over there. We even sometimes flare gases just to pretend to the outside world that the refinery is working. So if Ekpan residents are saying the fire has been out for 2months then OP you are a liar and have just been busted. My worry now is the motive behind your lying. |
BLUE VALENTINE - Made me realize that love could be overrated.Love alone would not make a relationship work, level of education of parties in a relationship affects the union. It takes a real man to accept to be the father of a child you know isn't yours right from the first trimester. |
Wow!!! I'm just wondering who would be jailed for failure to predict a natural disaster in Nigeria... Only one name comes to mind, T.B. Joshua |
Joagbaje: If The Tithe is a blind animal,The Giver redeemes It With Money . True or False ?The condition for redeeming had been well spelt out in verse 27, your example of a blind animal here is entirely your idea. Unclean animals alone can be redeemed. Unless you still consider any item today as unclean which would be against the word of God directly. The doctrine of tithing as practiced today is man-made, besides Hebrew 7 brought tithing to an end. Once again, only you can tell yourself the truth. |
preshuzpearl: he's actually well off. Studyin on a first class scholarship abroad.eh yahh.... I can tell you are very gullible. He probably is in the UK and would be shipped back should he fail to get a job before his student visa expires. My dear I hope your "boyfriend" can pass DRAGNET test when he is back in Nigeria? But sincerely if it was a roadside mechanic who approached you with this message from God, would you not have rebuked him immediately? My dear don't let the promise/hope of a secured-financial future cloud your judgment? Between, I would love to know what you mean by a first class scholarship |
Joagbaje: It's base on same principles dear. Either for tithes or offerings. People gave cash that's my point . Confront the scripture I gave and stop looking for loop hole.26 “‘No one, however, may dedicate the firstborn of an animal, since the firstborn already belongs to the Lord; whether an ox[a] or a sheep, it is the Lord’s. 27 If it is one of the unclean animals, he may buy it back at its set value, adding a fifth of the value to it. If he does not redeem it, it is to be sold at its set value. 28 “‘But nothing that a man owns and devotes to the Lord—whether man or animal or family land—may be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the Lord. Verse 27 clearly states what should be redeemed and the basis is that the said item is unclean. After Peter's trance God stated that nothing created by him should be called unclean so based on that, nothing can be redeemed presently as stated in verse 28 Brother Jo, pay more attention to details, your ability to arrange information brings about better understanding |
The bible says, "He who finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord" Proverbs 18:22 The onus is on a man to find a wife, God doesn't choose a wife for you. And not everyone will find a wife. If you quiz this brother further on how God spoke to him about you, he would say God showed him in a dream and he saw both of you at the altar. My sister, What a man desires, he dreams about. Don't fall for an old trick used in Christian circles. |
Joagbaje: @pastor KunAnd you conveniently left out Lev. 27:28? Brother Jo....I'm an advocate for logical arguments don't twist the scripture for your selfish purpose. Read Leviticus 27:26-28 26 says all firstborns of all animals already belongs to God, so you can't dedicate them to God since they are already his. 27 went further to say if it is of an unclean animal(since some animals are deemed clean and unclean, this is evident in the trance Peter fell into before he was to see the Centurion)so unclean animals are not edible ( reason why they should be redeemed). In the event they are not redeemed, they should be sold.28 ... stated that nothing a man owns and devotes to the Lord whether man or animal or family land may be sold or redeemed , everything so devoted is most holy to the Lord. |
Techwriter: @OP, I agree most believers on NLand don't follow arguments logically. There are reasons for thisThe portion I flagged red is entirely unnecessary to prove your point. I think a public forum like Nairaland creates the opportunity to get diverse views and make you discern arguments that follow logically. I have gone the way of speaking to people in theological school and noticed how aggressive they get while trying to prove a point that doesn't follow logically. Most of them just say things handed down to them without going on this journey of self-discovery with an open mind. As long as what you mean by your second advice is not to accept without questions what any pastor would tell me then I would look forward to the threads you would open to respond to issues raised. |
Once Again the devil has remained elusive.. Together, the Devil and Eze broke into a pentecostal church in Iba on Sunday night and stole the offering, but only Eze was caught.Poor Eze.. |
I have been questioning my belief system in the last one year and this brings me regularly to the Religion section. I always check out topics that are religion-based that make front page. There is a trend I have come to see on here. The average Christian poster here cannot follow through an argument without resorting to verbal assaults. This is very evident in threads where renowned pastors come under fire or when tithing is criticized. Personally, I'm of the opinion that if a person takes to verbal assault to support an argument, the pointers are the person or the argument is weak or maybe both. I think the non-tithing Christians are more logical when making premises and sometimes the atheists too. Anyone with an analytical mindset would shift base from just reading how pathetic most Christians sound when they argue. I think Christians should change their approach when posting here if not they would keep losing to the atheists. Arguments are won by premises that leads to logical conclusions and not necessarily by the strength in number of the opposition. |
Julieccentric: Where are the zoologists?I know a particular one that lives in Abuja and will spend N1billion on feeding this year. |
Nigeria is presently in the "ERA OF FAITH", It would pass, many of us who are asking questions today were devout Christians 10years ago. Let's allow time play its part. |
Yomieluv: @logicboy,because the european brought xtianity, doesn't make them the all in all, being the creator of something, doesn't make u the best in it,that's why there's a word called innovation. If the whites have decided to drop xtianity,God can use the black to resusitate them. Its even said in the bible, that if men decides not to worship God,he would command the stones to do that. If not for religion,Africa would've been in chaos by now.So Africa is presently not in chaos abi? Try dey talk truth make the God when you dey defend here see you bless oh. |
Personally I feel the girl's family did a lot to get this guy where he is today. I don't see why my wife's parents should call the shots in my house. |
spencer3705: dnt blame anybody bro,y cnt people take their time to make research so people kud luk up to dem 4 info as wel.GOOGLE is crying of not being used..dis forum is being abused by questns dat doesnt worth it.one luv.But most people here pretend not to see your question especially when they don't have an answer for you. I think what most of you (especially those who have turned in their applications) are interested in is news of medical call and VISA pick-up. You all started from somewhere. |
Obinoscopy: 2. NOW THE ABOVE WRITTEN OBLIGATION is condition to be void in either of the following cases:The OP misled you all, take a look at the "Heading" of section 2 you don't have to pay if you are sacked. The idea is to prevent trainees from leaving within a 2year period. And Yes its Union Bank, a friend of mine got the offer and was really reluctant to take it since he desired an engineering role |
I still need someone to help with this....... ezme: @ The House |
@ezme What school are you applying to? We may have a few similarities
For now I'm just looking at schools in the Prairie provinces. I'm yet to make a decision. |
@ The House Can anyone please throw more light on the co-op programme. It seems to be the best rout for most of us with green horns and I would like to know if it has any negative implication on the Visa application. P.S: I would appreciate if those in Canada can talk more on this and how real the implementations are. There is the Co-op program at University of Regina, anyone presently there can help with this. |
earthgreeners: @ezme and fresh dude, you can extend the expiry date on your passport at the immigration office that issued it. I dnt knw the exact amount they charge for the service...I'm still looking at the schools and I would start contacting possible supervisors in the following weeks. mercylicious: U can extend ur passport. I did mine at Abuja office. Heard u can do same at Lagos. The idea of a new passport number is a source of worry for me as my IELTS result has the present passport number as my candidate id |
shema: Get your passport renewed before applying...visa won't be issued above the expiry date on your passport.I read somewhere that it cannot be renewed until it expires |
ezme: officially signing-in on here. I'm still struggling to go through the 188 pages of part1,@newacca @justwise @Fhemmmmy @earthgreeners I still need help with the questions i asked above. I also have another issue I need clarification on, my e-passport expires dec 4 2013. Intend to apply for a program for a program billed to begin sept 2013 and may defer to jan 2014 should the need arise. what are the implications of the above if ; 1. everything goes as planned and I get the VISA and start sept 2013( taking my passport expiry date of dec 4 2013) 2. I'm asked to defer till jan 2014 and my passport expires dec 4 2013, would this mean outright rejection or I would just be asked to get a new one considering that I would have at least a month to make that happen before my start date and hoping I have no other issue of concern |
officially signing-in on here. I'm still struggling to go through the 188 pages of part1, @Anyone who can help with this as I cant presently tell if the Veterans from part 1 still reply to this thread. Intend to apply for an Msc Chemical engineering. I have an inclining towards process control or process systems engineering,I'm trying to make a choice of university before seeking out a supervisor. I find University of Alberta appealing though I'm also looking at Ottawa and waterloo. I wouldn't mind if anybody can say a thing or two about these schools apart from what I can find on the web. I also want to know what my chances are since I can unfortunately only document a 79% CGPA . This has been rejected by two top schools in Norway as they had applications from other Nigerians who could document 85% CGPA. |
If any of you have seen the US version of "hold me back", then you won't be here complaining. The message in the song needed a ghetto video and he did just that. |
naturalwaves: D dog myt be d world's tallest dog FINE but saying it is 7feets tall standing on it's hind legs was just an unnecessary emphasy.U know Y? because animals are not measured like that.D proper way is to measure d height from ground level to d back level.Even if they will give d heights standing from d hind legs, the proper thing to do is to first of all give it's normal height in d proper manner. If U start stretching and measuring all animals like that,u will see that our cows will be measuring around 5 feets. They were just supposed to give us d height from ground level to back level cos animals do not stand and walk like humans.I can relate to what you are saying, that actually is the way I know how to do it. But,the opening post stated how they ended up with the 7ft measurement.I expected people to discuss based on what was given. |
berem: don't mind him! He is comparing the measurement of the height of a human to a dog! What nonsense! If you read the opening post, you won't be on this smear campaign. I would not verbally assault you, it would make my earlier premise look weak. Have a nice evening. gbadexy: My friend, actually it is you who got it wrong and I can just imagine you visualizing how dogs stand naturally. And how is this the argument? Please read the openig post. |
berem: if dat dog is 7ft,then am 10ft! How tall is the tallest man on earth? So una wan tell me say dis don tall pass shaq o'neal? Abeg make una take style dey lie for NL!It is 7ft tall when standing on its hind limbs.... Going through this thread and evaluating how Nigerians analyse textual information, I wonder why we expect so much from GEJ #justsaying |
HYPOCRISY!!! |
DailyNews: Check the bolded again...do have a lovely evening today...and do read up the previous comments together with the original message. Have fun!Oga, you are here to force your inaccurate ideas on others. I'm too enlightened to take that, and the fact that you started the thread doesn't make your perception right. Work on yourself, people with your mindset are the reason we are not moving forward in this country. You a probably here whining because someone you knew didn't get in, that my friend is a sore-loser mentality. |
DailyNews: Hey man, I am gainfully employed and maybe earning more than some NNPC employess, pls watch your choice of words, this thread was meant to trash out certain issues on this so-called NNPC mass recruitment...so chill pls...if you cannot contribute without being insultive, y not stay away and just be an observer plssir, my comment wasn't directed at you and please your points are not valid. You are arguing that NNPC should employ more people since they just completed one recruitment process. Do you know the criteria through which those 595 persons emerged? if you have read through the proposed Petroleum industry bill, you would not come here to rant and bring your myopia to the fore. NNPC is not a social security system that should ensure a particular number of persons get on its pay roll every year. Come and state valid premises then we can converse. Refrain from jumping into threads just to comment, spend some time understanding the situation before you say anything. |
Many people here are just sore losers. Its common knowledge that Nigerian Universities churn out half-baked graduates every year. These graduates actually lack very good theoritical foundation. They read only to pass examinations and not really to add knowledge and value. This is typical of most engineering graduates. what they have left after graduation is residual knowledge. You see them on job boards/fora asking for past questions and test formats whenever they are shortlisted to take a test. They expect to perform wonderfully after this fire-brigade preparation approach. People are recruited based on compentencies they can demonstrate they possess, this has nothing to do with having a 2.1 or first class. You see them getting all religious, turning job vacancy threads to fellowship meetings and prayer rooms. The sensible ones focus on getting better and read daily to update their knowledge. So you believe the 595 people who got in did so with political connect? Wake up!!! Focus on getting better, opportunity favours the prepared man. Coming here to whine about recruitment policies will not make you better neither will it get you a job. Change your perception and fix yourself, those who got the jobs are humans too. |
