Adetola:
The fight for superiority, as i c it is useless, just as u said, women are complimentary to men but not vice versa. In English, some words are strong when they stand alone, but the moment u add a prefix or suffix to it then it becomes weaker. Man, prefixed with WO, the result... (Wo)Man, has chaned the meaning, significance and strength in d the abstract and physical sense. Women cannot be compared to men, they can't be equal, God didn't make them eqaul. Questioning the crystal clear inequality of women to men is as good as questioning God 'why'? The answer is women are assistants to men, it is conventional and there is nothing anybody can do to that. You acn't change God's will.
Heaven help us! *makes sign of the cross* Adetola,
I never said
Adetola:
just as u said, women are complimentary to men but not vice versa.
Rather, I said
fabian:
I don't, have never, and will never belong to the category of people who believe in the daft school of thought which say's that Men are superior to women. I am a woman, who knows that women are complimentary to men and vice versa. We are each other's equals and the fact that one is named the head over the other doesn't hake him/her superior to the other.
It's wah for you men oh!
Anyway, as per
Adetola:
In English, some words are strong when they stand alone, but the moment u add a prefix or suffix to it then it becomes weaker. Man, prefixed with WO, the result... (Wo)Man, has chaned the meaning, significance and strength in d the abstract and physical sense.
Permit me to say that is just plain gibberish and i might add a big joke. Who ever heard anything so downright funny? I'm rolling in laughter just reading that but heck, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
For me sha, I compliment my husband in my home. He is no doubt, the HEAD of our home, but I'm in no way his subject.

@Fabian,
This is exactly what i mean. I'm not scared of a debate but i wont allow u box me up in a conner because i never said men are better than women.

U've got to fight for your right in this world. It wont come on a platter of gold.

I'm the wrongest person to pick on anyway because i don't discriminate sexually. Seems u just need to pick on a guy. Its ok girl. Just read my posts again..or maybe, in between the lines this time around.
I am not trying to box you into a corner, neither am I trying to pick on you. i was only responding to your comment. I will not fight for any rights, because I already have em. I only air my views here. I nor fit shout oh!
Peace y'all.
Health › Re: Dysmenorrhea a.k.a Menstrual Pain or Cramps by fabian(f): 9:26am On Aug 29, 2005
Hey IAH, I feel you! My periods for me, were periods when my whole family saw hell! Everyone, including my dad and brothers were on hand to change the water in the hot water bottle, change the bucket beside my bed for me to throw up in, bring fresh towels,  massage my waist, back and stomach with ben gay (would you believe it!), etc. Everyone knew that when the month was drawing to an end, drama started!
I had also heard that having a baby stops dysmeorrhea.  I had a baby two years ago, and the pain did not automatically stop. Yeah, it lessened considerably, but I still feel the cramps every once in a while.
I used to take Feldene to stop the pain, and it worked for that purpose, but the thing was that It also seized my flow, i.e. I could use one sanitary towel the whole day if I wanted and it would have only a few drops lipsrsealed
My GP advised me to stop. What I learnt on my own was that my diet contributed to my pain. As a rule, I generally stopped taking Sweets and other foods high in Sugar about a week to the time and I really felt better during my period.
Another thing I realized was that the pain was a little psychological in my case, as I was already geared up for pain and nothing could take my mind off feeling pain. To that effect, I realized that getting out to do something as opposed to staying indoors and moaning made me feel a lot better as my mind was occupied with other activities.
Alll that, and maybe child birth has made my pain much less, but don't get me wrong, I still feel the occasional cramp, though everyone knows its much better now.
I advise that you try not to eat too much sugar just before your period, I mean sodas, sweets, in fact skip dessert if it'll help. You should also try to go out rather than stayin because that will only make you more aware of your own pain.
try to exercise too, I've heard that it helps, though I don't know how it relates to this. It may be an old wives' tale, but it's something you stand to gain from. wink

Romance › Re: Ethics of Reporting Your Friend's Infidelity to His Girlfriend by fabian(f): 9:43am On Aug 17, 2005
No, I don't think John was right in telling his friend's girlfriend. His loyalty is first to James. It doesn't necessarily mean that he likes Helen and wants to be intimate with her, all he did was make an uniformed decision.
There is no hard and fast rule to the Ethics of behaviour as regards repoerting to a friends love interest when the friend is stepping out of line, its a personality thing.
I would rather he went to his friend and told him to stop his cheating or else he would tell Helen, and if James didn't, then.............................
Not all threats are to be cariied out, me thinks!

Seems Fabian didnt read my post thoroughly. I didnt take any side. I only said what seun buttressed above. Fight for your rights ladies. Stop complaining. If u can't then men r superior. Simple...........................................................
Its survival of the fittest. Go ladies. Take the bull by the horn.
Anyway, 1 last word 2 d ladies. Instead of rambling about men not givin u a chance. Why don't u create the chance (afterall u r better..right?). If u can't get that chance unless men give it 2 u. It says it all. Men r superior.
Lets I forget Fabian. Some men (hausas/al majris) are better than ladies at "pissing" in a sittin / squatin position. So take that back.
Tell me, did you carry out a survey of the hausa men/majiris who piss in a squatting position and find out they are better at it than women who have been doing it from time immemorial?
I read your post thoroughly and you only butressed the point as shown above!

Why do ladies have to fight for rights we already have? I don't, have never, and will never belong to the category of people who believe in the daft school of thought which say's that Men are superior to women. I am a woman, who knows that women are complimentary to men and vice versa. We are each other's equals and the fact that one is named the head over the other doesn't hake him/her superior to the other.
As for the resy of Layi's post, really you'll have to clarify what you stated, I really didn't understand what you meant by ladies crying for empowerment and victory, and the story about A & B.
For the input bu Legs viz a vis the Igbo women and their inability to speak/ participate in any decision making in her home, guys what do you have to say for your selves? It only goes to show your major insecurities to the point where you are afraid of what women would do if they were given some leverage to speak in their homes.
Enough already!

I wouldn't like to say the pain of child birth hurts because its a different experience for everyone........................ lipsrsealed

OOps. Sorry, all you guys who lost pple they love.
My saddest day was the day i lost my big 'sista'. i wasn't even ther when she died, didn't even know until 1 week later. My only other sister was out of town and they were waiting to break the news to us together since we were away from home and they figured we could comfort each other.
She's been dead 4 years now, had problems with her internal organs, i never thot it would lead to death.
My happiest day is yet to come as a typican Nigerian would say, but I was extremely happy on my wedding day and on the day i gave birth to my baby, despite all my pain! grin
Christianity Etc › Re: Kissing and Romancing: Part of Fornication? by fabian(f): 9:03am On Aug 16, 2005
Who says that kissing and necking and touching and what have you are not fornication? Guys please! What then do you call that? an Introduction to fornication?
For people who don't know the definition of fornication, it means " voluntary sexual intercouse of the unmarried, sometimes extended to cases where only one of the parties concerned is unmarried"
Klex, you have got it all figured by saying the road to fornication starts in our heart.
Kissing and necking and Romancing are all ffffffffffornicating.
Its a wrap! tongue
Nairaland General › Re: Gender Inequality ("Men Always Like To Be Domineering") by fabian(f): 8:45am On Aug 16, 2005
Hey Layi, Cut us some slack! I would like to know in what sense men are superior to women? In strength? In looks? In intelligence?
Men have been given the mantle of leadership in the family life and indeed in the society at large, and women are told to be submissive to their husbands. That is not to say that women should be subjugated, or that we play a less significant role in the society today.
Think where you'd be if there were no women huh
Dudes, women are equal to men! It does not necessarily mean that because a man is the leader of the Home/Church/Political party/ State/Country, he is superior to women. Mind you, leaders are servants inadvertently.
Quoting Ka, "No matter what women achieve, they will never be able to do better than men at urinating accurately while standing up".
Haha. In the same vein, no matter what men achieve, they will never be able to do better than women at urinating accurately while sitting down!
This sounds downright funny doesn't it? Since when has standing up and pissing been the standard for gender (in)equality? Men can stand up and crap for all we care but they are not superior to women!
I don't belong to the school of thought which goes, anything a man can do.................
cos i know that there are somethings a woman can do better than men and vice versa.
Mind you, the operative word here is "a"
Some men can do some stuff better than some women, and vice versa, doesn't mean that every man is superior to every woman. Ya dig?

Romance › Re: Do You Believe in Love at First Sight? by fabian(f): 9:38am On Aug 09, 2005
Hey guys noooooooooooo! There's nada like luv at first sight! shocked NADA.
Aint real! You can really like a person at first sight, and even have a crush, but believe me, Nigerians under estimate the feeling called love. A Naija guy/babe is soooooo quick to say I love you, even when they don't know the meaning of love!
Na wah for us oh! The real question to ask here is Do Nigerians know the meaning of Love?
Some babes feel that if a guy spends money on you, he loves you, and guys erroneously believe that if a girl gives her body freely to you, she must be in love with you.
I think we should have a rethink. This is not just my opinion, take it from me, i've really asked around! grin wink

Hi Guys, nice neighborhood!

Stevo man, I think it's harsh to say God hates you, but I am sure you don't believe that. Yeah, I know it's hard to get in to the show (through getting 6 correct digits - in their correct order, mind you, the Lagos State Lottery is much harder!), but as they say, if at first you don't succeed, dust yourself up and try again wink

Meanwhile, looking forward to this evening's episode of who wants to be a millonaire - with the ever bubbly Frank Edoho!

P.S So he's married to that Kate from A.M Express? The one who was pregnant last year? Guess they met way back in their Unical days then? Good thinking guys! Ciao!
