Ciara has released her new single, 'Freak Me' featuring Tekno. Well, that's not all you need to know about the new sensation, as she also samples Tiwa Savage's 'Before Nko' on the track.

The singer who has enjoyed a level of recent success with her comeback single, 'Level Up', which went viral online has now teamed up with talented Nigerian producer and songwriter, Tekno for her new single.

'Freak Me' sees Ciara aiming to spread her music to the African market as she taps into the Afrobeats sound with help from Tekno on the vocals.

But the biggest takeaway from the song is that it is not as original as you may think.

The song samples a previously released single by singer Tiwa Savage titled,'Before Nko', a record released under her 2016 EP, ''R.E.D''.

The song shares not just the same element, but lines from the lyrics of the song are even identical, with the title of Ciara's single adopted from Tiwa's hook.

What we don't know is if Tiwa Savage was aware that a part of her song would be used.

The election petition against Fayemi and APC by the PDP as regards the 2018 polls has now been pasted on notice board at the Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti.

Fayemi and APC had evaded service by putting the party secretariat in Ado Ekiti under lock and keys.

The Tribunal ruled yesterday that Fayemi and APC be served the petition through substituted means by pasting the petition on notice board at the High Court and delivering it by courier at the party National Secretariat in Abuja.

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ado Ekiti, today, granted the PDP and its candidate in the Ekiti State governorship election, Prof Kolapo Olusola, order to serve the petition on the APC and Dr Kayode Fayemi through substituted means.

All efforts by bailiff to serve Fayemi and his party had been futile as the party secretariat was locked to apparently evade service.

Sensing that the defendants were deliberately evading service, the PDP filed a Motion ex-parte, seeking an order of court for the petition to be served through substituted means.


The court today, ordered that the petition be pasted at High Court premises, Ado Ekiti and delivered at the National Headquarters of APC in Abuja by courier.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) chapter on Monday, warned that the institution was going into extinction due to infrastructural decay.

The union said it was disturbed by the under-funding of the institution by its owners: Oyo and Osun states.

ASUU said despite its unrelenting efforts to ensure that abnormalities in the institution were addressed by the two states, the situation was getting worse, adding that the institution’s best lecturers were daily moving to other institutions where their worth would be appreciated.

The union, in a statement jointly signed by its chairman, Comrade Biodun Olaniyan and secretary, Comrade Toyin Abegunrin, said Osun and Oyo state governments should be blamed for whatever happens to the institution.

The duo, in the statement, said,

“Recall that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) LAUTECH branch in the press statement of the 26th July, 2018 warned about the impending crises in the university due to government’s refusal to fund the University as part of their cardinal responsibilities to the Nigerian masses.

“This has led to the accumulation of unpaid salaries. Prompt payment of salaries which is a major motivating ingredient of productivity has become a mirage in our erstwhile glorious and exemplary state university which in the past, was the glory of Oyo and Osun states.

“Presently, suffering and uncertainty of survival means have become the abiding companions of staff members. After the alarm raised in the said release by the union, one would expect that a sensitive government would have responded positively towards averting the looming crises.

“However to our dismay, nothing was said or done on the release. It is unfortunate that about eight months after the suspension of strike in the university, all the promises of the University Governing Council that led to the suspension have not been fulfilled. It is saddening to report that up till now, the members of staff are being owed 10 months salary, promotion arrears, among other allowances. Salaries are being paid through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) majorly from school fees.

“It should be recalled that the union also called on the members of the public to reach out to the Visitors to do the needful. Up till now, no response of any sort was received.

“Flowing from the litany of misfortunes foisted on the university by the government, as enumerated above, our Union is left with no other option than to call out our members once again to return to the trenches in search of lasting solution to the crises.

“It is painful and unfortunate that the union is being forced, at this point in time, to resume its suspended action. Members of the public should therefore blame the government, not ASUU, for this sad turn of event,” ASUU stated.

The founder of a non-governmental organisation, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, for allegedly sodomising his twin sons.

37-year-old Jephath Ighodaro, was arrested in the Aguda, Surulere area of the state by the police and some officials of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender

A source revealed that the case was reported by the suspect’s wife after the two boys, aged four, fondled her breasts in an “adult way.”

The source said the woman became alarmed when she saw the twins attempting to make love to each other, adding that when she queried them, they said their father had been doing the same thing to them.

The matter was reported to the OPD, which started an investigation into it.

The children were taken to the Mirabel Medical Centre, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where tests were carried out on them.

The result of the tests reportedly showed that the children had forceful penetration in their anuses.

The Edo State indigene was arrested by policemen from the Aguda division and was transferred to the command headquarters.

A police source said the victims gesticulated how the act was performed by their father when they were interviewed by the police.

He noted that although the suspect denied the allegation, he would be arraigned on Friday.

The Director of the OPD, Mrs Olayinka Adeyemi, said the government would pursue the case to a logical end. She said;

“We find it unacceptable and shocking that a father could abuse his own children; two beautiful sons. This shows that sexual abuse is not just about the girl-child; the boy-child is also endangered.

“While we were interviewing the children, they went to the toilet about three times; we are afraid that their bladders may have been affected. We have asked that further tests be conducted on them.


“We also discovered that he has an NGO that claims to be empowering youths. And the NGO has a lot of youths and that was why we got the gender unit of the police command involved because the NGO may be a scam through which young and innocent boys are being lured. To his end, we have written the state Commissioner of Police for further investigation.”

Four operatives of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad, FSARS in Ikeja on Wednesday killed a teenager in Lagos.

The incident which happened in Satellite Town while the FSARS men were chasing criminals sparked protest on the social media with many calling for the scrapping of the FSARS.

The innocent boy who was sent on an errand was killed by sporadic shots fired by the FSARS men.

Reacting to the incident, police spokesman Chike Oti, a Chief Superintendent (CSP) said four of the policemen had been detained.

Oti said:

“The attention of the Commissioner Police (CP) has been drawn to the news making the rounds on the social media that SARS operatives accidentally shot and killed an eighteen-year-old boy at Satellite Town Lagos.”

“In view of the unfortunate incident, the CP ordered that the policemen involved be arrested for questioning.”

“However, it must be stated that the FSARS operatives left their base in Ikeja today August 1, to Satellite Town, Lagos, with a clear directive to arrest notorious armed bandits that have made life unbearable for the people of the area.”

“They succeeded in arresting one of the hoodlums but the rest of the gang opened fire on the policemen leading to a shootout.”

“The CP has ordered an investigation into the matter. The team is mandated to investigate, arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable in the shooting saga- civilians and policemen alike.

“Further development on this matter would be communicated to the public as usual.”

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said there are “more to come”, after Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governor of Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, both decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose, writing on his verified Twitter page on Tuesday, also said Nigeria must be rescued from tyrants.

Cuppy started with helping people with disabilities with their university education, and so far she has offered free education to three people and all of them were offered admission in UNILAG.

Apart from helping people with disabilities with their university education, DJ Cuppy also said she is willing to give more people more opportunities with her Cuppy Philanthropy Foundation launched today.

An heavy downpour that lasted for over 7 hours yesterday has caused tension in the ancient city of Ile Ife Osun state Nigeria.

Worst hits were students of the Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy who are now counting their losses after flood sacked their residents following the heavy downpour.

One of the affected students, Mr James Ibrahim said the flood carted away all their properties.

Another student, Oluwafunmilayo Ilori said she was sleeping when water started rushing into her room.

An indigene of Ile Ife, Sikiratu Bashiru who lost all her belongings to the flood urged the government to assist residents to clear blocked drainages to prevent such disaster.

Tragedy struck on Monday as a senior local government official, Michael Kayode Bamisaye, alleged committed suicide at his residence in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Bamisaye, who was the Director of Finance in Ise/Orun Local Government Council, Ise-Ekiti, jumped into the well in his compound behind Tinuola Maximum School, off Afao Road, Ado-Ekiti.

The deceased had earlier drunk water mixed with cement in an earlier attempt to kill himself before jumping into the well.

Top management staff of local governments in Ekiti State has being paying condolence visit to Bamisaye’s home.

Sympathizers have been trooping to his residence to commiserate with the widow and other members of the family.

Activities were said to have been grounded at Ise/Orun Local Government secretariat when the report of Bamisaye’s death filtered in from Ado-Ekiti.

The cause of the suicide could not be immediately ascertained.

Bamisaye was said to be the third senior management staff that would die in Ise/Orun Local Government Council this year as two other directors had died before him in mysterious circumstances.

A source said: “The deceased woke up at about 4.00 am to assist his wife to do some house chores and even called some council workers he used to convey to Ise every day to be ready to join him to their station.

“All of a sudden, he disappeared and went outside with the wife looking for her. Later she discovered that the well was opened and they saw the body floating.

“The wife and other people who joined her searching later saw the cement he had mixed with water which he might have taken before taking the plunge into the well.

“The men of the State Fire Service had come to remove the corpse which has since been deposited at the mortuary.”

Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Caleb Ikechukwu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, was not available for comment as his phone was switched off.

‘Men Don’t Like Me Because I Have Small Body’ –

A 20-year-old self-confessed killer of the dreaded Eiye confraternity in Lagos State, Mariam Abiola, has shared more details after her recent arrest by police operatives in Ilasamaja area of the state.

Maryam claimed that she ran away from home because of poverty. She said; “After my secondary school in Abeokuta, I started hawking satchet water and other things with my mother. She told me to quickly get married and the man who wanted to marry me is an old man. My girlfriend who is based in Lagos came back to Abeokuta to see her parents. She told me to follow her to Lagos and without telling my mother, I came to Lagos.

“On getting to Mushin, I discovered that I still have to hawk to survive. The other option is to be sleeping with men for money.

I have a small body and men do not like me so much. They will sleep with me and tell me stories. Unfortunately, I met Sodiq when I visited Ilasa with my girlfriends. He convinced me to join them, that I will make good money. They took us to their herbalist and we took an oath. He then taught us how to use the gun. He told me that all the people that we will kill are bad people. I have never seen N10, 000 in my life, so I was willingly to do anything to make that money.”

When Sodiq confronted her insisting that they have never met, she laughed and said. “Brother Sodiq, you cannot deny me. Your mother sells Agbo (herbal medicine) on your street. It was inside your house that you taught three of us how to shoot. You were even the one who said that since I wear hijab that no one will suspect that I am a killer even if I was found at the scene. You also said I have a small stature that people will believe I am 20 years old. It has happened, denying me will not solve your problem, Brother Sodiq.”

According to Maryam, her first victim was a woman. “The first person I killed was a woman who lived at Hassan area, close to Ilasa. Sodiq said that the woman was evil and needed to die. I entered her house in the night and killed her while she was sleeping with her children. By the time people who heard the gunshot gathered, I had left the place and returned the gun to Sodiq. I even went back to the house to make sure that she did not survive. That night Sodiq gave me N10, 000.

When asked if she knows that it’s a crime to kill, Maryam said yes. “Sodiq explained to me that killing a cult member is not a crime. He assured me that all the persons that I killed were cult members who deserved to die.”
