Do you have to use "aside from the fact that..." to make the point? This line of words seem to be on almost every transcript on this thread. Please be original. Be creative. Craft your own response. Any student that send me his/her transcript from this moment will have to rewrite that section if I see it there. Instead of "aside from the fact that"--which consular hears often, can you use, "More importantly", "In addition to this", "More so",. "Also", "Other than that", "Alongside this", etc. A student will be dropping her approved visa transcript soon (for visa approved this week). There's another guy who got approved late November I am still waiting for his transcript to be posted. More transcript of approved visa still coming; the embassy at both location are still issuing, and you too can still get your visa. Keep hope alive! Those who have been denied should brace up. Re-firing immediately isn't always the key to getting the visa. Impatient has delayed as many dreams from becoming a reality as negligence and lack of preparation have. If you have been denied, check yourself, check your transcript, and see what can change or boost your chance before you reapply. If you have to defer the admission, do it. You don't have to reapply immediately if things are tight. But follow your heart anyway ! The student I mentioned above was first denied last year. She waited and reapply this year, and she got it. Some of you were denied simply because of lack of confidence (yes, lack of confidence and unnecessary fear you secretly nurse because of people you've heard were denied), inability to make eyes contact, inability to converse with the consular smoothly, lack of thorough and cogently convincing transcript, or otherwise (sometimes, this is not the case and it is not your fault at all). Nevertheless, put yourself together very well. God bless you. If you get money, Nigeria sweet! |

Lol. When you do a fix deposit or Tbills, there's a certificate or docs your bank give to you. That is the document I was referring to. If you don't have the document, go to the person in charge at your bank and ask for it. Or, ask for a reference letter stating such money is fixed with the bank. Tell the bank official you need the letter for embassy. ollypapi: A friend here did fixed deposit but we went there today to collect doc for this and just a slip from the bank given to us showing the amount deposited and the 1 month duration. tho the principal amount in there is 5m o? |

Are you going for masters? In that case, 10M above would do. Try and get some scholarship. Nutshell44: That’s about $22k. 8.2 million naira |

358 X $20, 500 = 7.3M. Your sponsor should have 10M or more, and the total credit should be like X2 of that available balance--to show he is financially capable to pay for the next academic year. I am surprised you did not know this basic information at this moment. Good luck. obojememe: pls can u use the attached image to suggest ? |

I will advice you and others who'll be going to embassy for Summer and Fall 2019: Tell your sponsor to run the account. Let millions of Naira flow through and out. Don't go and dump the millions when total credit is lower. If you have fix deposit documents, go with that. The amount your sponsor should have is supposed to be determined by his financial capacity and how much he's able to generate from his source of funds, not by how much your program cost or how much you want him to have. Check your I-20 and see how much is required for the program. obojememe: pls, can u suggest a minimum balance to be maintained in an account before the interview date , as regards the sponsor’s financial capacity... |

This is not always the case. Did you know there's a case here recently whereby the consular went behind the owner of the account and even access her transaction details. They were reading the transaction flow to the owner of the statement--without her consent. This is a Zenith Bank. You don't know what they do with the statement. They go beyond what you think they have right to do. Na those who sabi the system can beat am! EZEIGBO1OFIMO: The thing is that the embassy can only call your bank to ascertain if what was given to them was valid at the date it was issued; they have no right to request for bank statements, as it's a fiduciary relationship which can only be circumvented with a valid court order. So your friend is safe at least, in this context. |

I am not sure you can see a date. Defer your admission and see if Summer or Fall 2019 would be okay. Take your time to put yourself together and prepare well for the next interview. It is not just about reapplying, but getting things right and being able to convince the VO. Jummielopez: Greetings to all the great people that kept this thread alive. It's been educating and motivating., with transcripts and helpful tips, I actually drew strength from here. I was denied, and a friend advised I check Nairaland, now I'm motivated to reapply. Please I'd appreciate if I can be put through the stages of reapplication as I used an agent earlier, but now I want to do it on my own. I'd be reapplying for an F1 visa, initial interview was Dec 7. You can say you'll be sponsored by your Uncle and your Aunt. It is acceptable, irrespective of whose name you mentioned on the dsform. When asked, who is your sponsor or paying for this, answer the question as the case may be. I will advice you should get updated statement of account from both sponsors. It is important. I wish you a successful interview outcome. Abacino007: Good evening,
Pls I need your suggestions urgently as I will be going for my interview soon. My uncle and my Aunty will be sponsoring my trip to the US but when I was filling my Ds160 the availabile space could not contain the two names so I filled my aunty.
1. Is it reasonable for me to tell the VO that my Aunty and my uncle will be responsible for my expenses over there even if I did not state my uncle’s name in the ds160 form? Note: my uncle’s account is his company’s account
2. What is the maximum period a statement of account should be? Is 29th of October not too late
Pardon my errors pls |

You may not find what you are looking for: school that will offer Master's admission without paying application fee. If you are talking about undergraduate application, I can point to over 10 schools. But for masters? Hmm. Find a school you strongly believe you will meet its admission requirement and that has its application fee is under $70. This isn't too much On school that offers scholarship, you will have to use google. Search with this string: Affordable US Universities for Masters in Business Program with scholarship. I will advice you to focus on "state universities" as they are mostly affordable, and usually offer scholarship. . Good luck! Glorious0: Please, I need assistance. I am open to suggestions or even critics as I know there's sense in anything another can perceive as nonsense. Please, help me o. Thanks |

Well, you have to try your luck. Nobody here can say for sure what the interview outcome will be. You could be lucky or favoured enough that VO would not ask for sponsor's financial statement or that having a sponsor in the US wouldn't be seen as reg flag. A very few students have been this lucky. The most recent happened Nov. 25; the student has been to South Africa and UAE, and I feel this is why the VO who interviewed him did not bother to ask his sponsor's statement, and visa was granted 3 days later. Things happen, so give it a try. Good luck! Bunmip: The Investment is in the US not Nigeria. |

Well, I know the embassy in Lagos once took down a fix deposit docs from a student, and visa was later issued. Is the investment in the US or in Nigerian bank? You did not elaborate. Bunmip: Hello House,
Please I want to ask if Bank statement is the only financial document acceptable to present at the USA embassy here in Nigeria. I have only my Sponsor's (Sister) investment documents who is in USA. She said she doesn't have enough funds to show in her bank statement. Is Investment documents also acceptable showing the value of the investment?

Yes I know, but the legality is not as strong as someone who has the residence permit. With a student visa, you are not permitted to work (except you get the paperwork done); a legal resident is allowed. And I strongly believe this affect chances of being issued in US visa in a third country. Nutshell44: But do you know a student is also a resident? |

As a Chelsea fan, oya, come check pepper soup for my side today. Blue everywhere! Correct guy! EZEIGBO1OFIMO: I'm deeply sorry, if it hurts, but sadly, it's the truth. B1/B2 denial less than 2 months, and now you're going for a cheap under the table flight course, which really has no prospects in Nigeria, as it doesn't put you on the path to become a commercially licensed pilot, your story will raise too many red flags. Give it some time, and plan things out, if you must jakpa, do it in a smooth manner. Again,I'm sorry for being harsh, but chelsea fans have taken over walter carrington, Blue has become the new color code. |
