Why not pick the passport first? Go get the passport first. Kiaso82: Good Morning all... I did my Dropbox in December 2018 and just got a text message this January 2019 that my passport is ready for pick up... also got an email confirming same. But before then I tracked it online and noticed it showed me on the dash board available appointment date. Please does this mean I am being invited for interview or what... I am yet to collect my passport. Did not receive any call or sms inviting me.
Can anyone advice on what to Do, as this is strange to me...

Just go with his bank statement. That is enough. Learn about how job, possible amount he earns, and prepare what to say if the VO asks, "Why is he the one sponsoring you?", "Why is he willing to pay a lot of money to sponsor you"...the question can come in different form. It would be nice if the embassy think the way you think. They don't see it like that! biikeys: An immigrant petition might be a red flag on its own. But if other application materials demonstrate good enough home ties, I wouldn't stress about it. You can have a petition filed on your behalf without you even knowing-it's not like something that requires your signature. If the beneficiary doesn't know genuinely, I think its a valid scenario. That being said, I wouldn't put a pause on my career because of some petition that can take years even up to a decade. I would build a strong profile and go ahead @kodeya |

Hmmm. What could have went wrong? Don't go too far as to hiring immigration lawyer from the US. The cost will be too burdensome for you, and you could use the money to do something much noteworth to move your life forward. This is my advice. Get a goood lawyer in Nigeria. You will then use legal means to force your bank and its headquarters to contact the embassy (with some legal docs backing this) and demand they disclose the source they use to verify your bank statement. Chances are they contacted your bank headquaters (but not sure). It is crazy how someone will just make some erroneous decisions and insist it's right. It's unacceptable! You will have to make your bank do the needful. In fact, make your lawyer sue the bank on the ground that the statement given to you is fake. Let the bank come clean enough--make it seems you're blaming them for the ban. Once your bank branch sees such legal battle brewing, they will do something and likely contact the embassy for clarification. aduku1: Hi guys You all remember aduku1, one of the guys who said he was approved and later refused with passport returned back to him.
Because i was unsure as to what might have negated the subsequent refusal, I scheduled another interview which i went for on the 2nd of January, 2019.
At the interview i was told that I submitted a fake document(bank Statement which was the only document I submitted) while i was insisting that the bank statement wasnt fake as it was that of my mother, the interviewer told that the banks confirmed same. and that i have been banned for life from entering the US for submitting a fake bank statement.
Because i was sure the bank statement aint fake, i and my mum went to the banks involved, i even wrote a protest letter to the banks on the issue. Upon investigation the banks stated it clearly that they were never contacted, one of the banks even showed me list of the persons who US embassy requested for their bank information and my name wasnt there.
Both banks then issued me a letter and another bank statement with current funds contained in them.
I have now sent a letter to the US embassy with documents supporting my claim. I am sure their decision of ban was done in error, but that is really inappropriate and bitter. I really do hope they look into my file and resolve same.
While i might not even be bothered about the issuance of the visa, i really want my name to be cleared of the allegation because it has really affected me and my reputation as a person and lawyer will be tanished by such, also for posterity sake.
At the moment i am really pained but i believe God is incharge.
I will give you guys more update as things upfold. |

1, Morgan State University. Check this school first. You'll want to start this school's flexible application immediately. No waste time as you'll likely be given admission. Then check the honors program website and submit your application for that--in case there's separate application. I once I applied there in 2008; it has been long now, so I am sure some things would have changed. I am away from home and will get you the other school later. Call the US embassy in London to confirm. This is a contentious issue, as nobody can say exactly whether or not applying in a third country will be favourable. 980 in SAT? Better write the exam again. For full funding, your SAT score should be from 1270 -1450. Morgan State University Honor's Program requires 1270 in the new SAT with 3.0 and above in GPA to be eligible. More so, University of Southern California, Brandeis University, and other schools will gladly accept you. I hope your GPA is high too. There are two sides to this issue. I am sure that you must have stated on your DSFORM that the immigrant petition is ongoing or that someone has filed for you. In that case, this is in the system (in fact, they'll figure it out later (during background check) before they seal the visa on your passport even if you don't state it). During your interview, the consular might noticed and ask questions related to that. It could generate a lot of questions and as sheke01 opined, it will not help your F1 application. It literally says you're trying to obtain the F1 Visa to migrate to the US to be with whoever has been filling for you, and that you'll not come back. Your chance is slim! However, if you could explain your case very well and the consular who interviews you understand, you may be lucky; the VO may get up during the interview and seek his/her superior's guide on whether or not to refuse you. But I smell refusal on issue like this. I always advise that if the citizenship petition is ongoing and has taken in a lot of processing time, why not wait? If you can't wait, then know that your F1 Visa may be refused on that ground. It certainly reduces your chance, but NOTE: things happens-- including miraculous F1 visa approval. Good luck! kodeya: Good day folks
Does an active citizenship petition filing ruins one's chances of being granted a student VISA ? I meant if I fill it in the DS 160 form ? |
Travel › Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by fairheart(m): 6:38am On Jan 10, 2019 |
God bless you. sheke01: In my opinion, having an active citizenship petition filing shows migration/citizenship intent which is a big issue. The major reason why people are being denied is not having strong home ties which can be rephrase to being seen as a potential immigrant. You now going for F1 while your immigrant/citizenship petition is ongoing clearly shows you want to migrate using F1 as a cover.
My advice will be for you to chill until a decision is made on your citizenship petition before applying for F1.
This is my own opinion based on the very very little i know about this matter. Don't take it too serious. Kindly wait for more experienced gurus to comment
Hope this helps you. Best Regards |

Nothing really. I am just interested in his application. But it's wrong to come here publicly and start talking about reduction of age and how to do the same on academic records. The Yorubas would say, "Gbogbo aso ko la n sa lo'run" - or else, the colours of the cloth will fade and will depreciate in value. When I read he play football, I got interested. There is full scholarship for that from certain schools--especially if it's undergraduate. There just need to be list of prove he's actually a footballer and played at secondary school level. 7rewards: After your earlier post, now you want a private message. Iol |

Me: graduated in 2015 Vo: what have you been doing since then? Me: I worked with xyz company then got another job later in Jan 2018 with xyz as an admin staff. Vo: who's paying for your tuition? Me: my aunt, and I stated her name. Vo: the account you've got here shows a November balance, I'd prefer it was printed in DEC Me: I got her to provide it cos she was about travelling and I was hoping to get an earlier date Vo: okay, I'll like you to get the most recent account statement at least showing her December balance * then she brings out the yellow paper for admin processing. As she was about passing it to me, she asked if I was aware I would be banned if I presented any fake documents. Me: yes ma'am Then she handed me the papers and wished me best of luck. I live in Lagos but now in abj for my interview. Hope to get the whole stuff settled by Thursday or Fri then sit down and sip on some juice as I watch God finish his work. You almost got it. The statement was to be blamed here. Tell your sponsor to steadily let more money stay in the account like 3-5 months to your interview. I will advise you to be patience as immediate reapplication may provoke another refusal. Take your time. You don't have to rush back. Jiggsbaby: Hey guys please I need ur opinion on this last time I went for an interview which was during my second trial.it went well than the first one the VO was very attentive me...everything went well until when she asked about my sponsor and I told her it was my mom and I also told her what she does for a living and the VO asked for my statement of account which had a closing balance of 3 million but the inflow and outflow was up to 44 million and I took it thinking that they would consider the inflow and outflow because some of the money was invested into business a month before i came for the interview.so she took the statement and typed for a while and I also told her I paid 85 percent of my tuition fee and I gave her document to show this..she typed for a while and took the statement with her and left the window and asked me to give her a moment she spent like 5 mins and when she got back she gave me the statement and typed for a while and said that she can’t issue me Visa this time blah blah blah and i left..
So do u think my statement of account was the major flaw?
Because my interview was the longest all those in front of me were not even asked for a statement of account at least 3 pple that went before I did
What do u guys think? Please hit me |

Yes, you know it yourself. She took the statement to her superior and I feel she was told you're not eligible based on the balance. It's not just the inflow or outlow that matters, but significant amount in balance, which directly shows you have adequate and available funds to pay for the tuition and fees.Jiggsbaby: Hey guys please I need ur opinion on this last time I went for an interview which was during my second trial.it went well than the first one the VO was very attentive me...everything went well until when she asked about my sponsor and I told her it was my mom and I also told her what she does for a living and the VO asked for my statement of account which had a closing balance of 3 million but the inflow and outflow was up to 44 million and I took it thinking that they would consider the inflow and outflow because some of the money was invested into business a month before i came for the interview.so she took the statement and typed for a while and I also told her I paid 85 percent of my tuition fee and I gave her document to show this..she typed for a while and took the statement with her and left the window and asked me to give her a moment she spent like 5 mins and when she got back she gave me the statement and typed for a while and said that she can’t issue me Visa this time blah blah blah and i left..

This is a list of very nice recommendations, but the 3rd point is not a valid one. 2 years work experience is not on the low side for an MBA program-except the applicant is looking for a sort of waiver for GRE/GMAT in case the B-schools offer that to students and 3-5 years work experience is required to be eligible for the waiver. Remember there is professional MBA/Executive MBA, and the normal traditional one. With 2 year work experience, a traditional MBA is cool. Remember 2 years is equivalent to full 24-month work experiences, and that is a rich background an MBA can be obtained on. I have a friend who got an MBA on a 1 year work experience and graduated first class from a university in Texas. So, this student don't need to wait till 2020. He/she can start immediately. There are even better B-schools still taking in application for MBA in addition to the ones you mentioned. bracelum: Great! Here are my recommendations.
1. Take the GRE and study hard for it. At this point, I wouldn't want you to worry about schools - worry more about getting a high GRE score. I'm suggesting GRE because I'm assuming you are considering a role in Corporate Finance and not Investment Banking. If you're considering Investment Banking, then it will require more effort as you will need to ace the GMAT with a 90+ percentile score and also invest significantly in networking.
2. Your undergraduate in geology makes you a non-traditional applicant to an MBA. It may be a good thing if you leverage that in your essays. B-schools need diversity, and I don't think they have many geologists in their application pool.
3. Two years work experience is quite on the low side for an MBA. MBA is not a degree for entry-level roles. So, I'll suggest you work towards Fall 2020 and by then, you should have 3 years of work experience which isn't bad.
4. While selecting programs, I will advise you to be open to programs that will give you added skills such as marketing, healthcare management, and analytics. It makes you more versatile and more competitive on the job market. You can do this by selecting dual degrees or by choosing concentrations in those MBA programs.
5. I will recommend UND's Mendoza MBA/MSBA dual degree (STEM), Arizona State MBA, Rochester's Simon B-School (they have a STEM concentration) and Penn State's Smeal MBA. The STEM programs are better in terms of work opportunities because they allow you more chances for the H-1B.
6. If you check carefully, these schools are among the top 50 B-schools in the US and they give significant financial aid for these programs. Those that are not within the top 50 should be very close to top 50. Don't (I repeat, DON'T) apply to a >80th ranked MBA program even if you get full funding. Brand and network is the game in b-schools and your career chances are very very tough when you attend those programs.
7. That should be all. |
